I enjoy these little experiments and that your products do result in higher quality turf and soil. The results (and variety of ways you showed them) speak for themselves! Regarding the last question though, I think it could be answered by adding a Humic12 plot if you were to repeat the test. That could shed light on if it was the D-thatch breaking down thatch and clippings, or just the humic in it creating a better decomposition environment.
Hey John. Speaking of testimonies of proof being in the pudding, I wanted to share something. I never treated my side yard or the side area next to the cars. So last year after I ordered your biostims, I decided to just haphazardly put a little down in those areas at the same time I treated my showcase area out front. Again, I really wasn't looking for any results. And really didn't care. I just wanted to get some Into the soil for no other reason than, just because. Well little by little, those areas started improving dramatically and fast. A year later, which is this year, those areas are looking showcase now..just in one year and not even really trying to improve those areas, the liquid N-Ext bio-stims and ferts have totally turned those areas around fast. So now I treat them the exact same way I treat the front yard and I'm even watering those areas regularly too. Why, because after seeing the results of what the NExt products did to those areas, there's no way I'm gonna let them get crappy. So I just wanted to share that with you especially since this video is about testing a product. They truly work if you work them in. And they work fast. Thanks for your products and teaching videos.
Once we hit the 90’s I usually get out 3-4 applications of Dethatch per season. I believe it chews thatch, improves the soil and also gives a nice little pop of green. I say let the haters hate.
Awesome experiment. This video inspired me to spray D-thatch, Humic-12 and Air-8 after watching. I’m in uncharted territory with my yard looking so good in July. Using all GC ferts and bio stims. Thank you.
I used dthatch at two personal properties and there's a difference for sure in the building of material. Subjective observations, but i practice what i call summerbaggin. I mulch and discharge lush spring valuable growth, and when the heat wave hits i bag the more useless lethargic and dryer out material. I collect less than before dthatch and the periods triggering summerbag are longer save more frequent the past two years also
I’m located in the northeast, the biostims (especially the RGS) let’s my Kentucky bluegrass roll through the summer without any issue. Without I’m constantly watering and fighting to keep it from going dormant but with the biostims the lawn just stays green. I’m not one to say you need this and that to have a nice lawn but I will say it’s has made a such a different in the summer. I basically have the only green lawn on my block
I have a few planted aquariums and beneficial bacteria plays a huge part in breaking down waste. I know that yeast is used to grow certain types on bacteria so it could be that the yeast helps to multiply the bacteria that break down dead vegetation and the waste from the bacteria is beneficial to the grass
First Aussie 😁. John, it works , whichever way , another great video, I appreciate the time and effort you put into videotaping your content and editing. 😎
John, who would dare doubt what you do for us.....😂been using your products for 3 seasons now and my lawns night and day from where it was......I'm happy with my results always gonna be doubters tho
I love the experiments!! I’m on board w RGS and now Air8. Looks like d-thatch is next!! I had a soil test consult w you this Spring. My turf rehab program is in full swing. Update coming to you soon. Thank you. Thank you. ❤❤
@lawncology I have a question. Is there a soil core tool you like? I want to buy one of the testers for a 1” or so diameter core. Hate to just start ordering what I see online I’m sure some tools are better than others. Have a recommendation? Thanks-
Sorry buddy, everything else works but the Air-8. That does not work, plenty of studies on liquid aeration suggesting that it doesn't. Stick with mechanically aeration for better results
I think all your products make the turf healthier... im in NC and never used detach yet. But I did just buy a 2.5 gal jug of it and I bought Pete's injection system that im going to try with all the biostems. That sunjoe your useing is that battery operated. I've only seen corded versions so far.
I know for a fact some dethatch products work. I've used them for years to start compost. The pile can sit there a week being watered and do very little. Then I'll spray it with Thatch Buster and it comes to life within 24 hours. The N-Ext D Thatch only mentions sugar and yeast no microbes. Is it just counting on the yeast activity to heat up the thatch layer and the sugar feeding whatever microbes are there? If you're putting down some form of sugar to feed microbes and kelp containing cytokinins you going to have a healthier lawn. No doubt about that.
So exactly how often should we be spraying d thatch snd air 8?? Every 4 weeks? Starting in April through October? And how about RGS? Every 4 weeks? Can all of these products that i have mentioned go into my battery backpack sprayer at the same time or not? Thank you. Love your vids.
Had a lot of die off over the winter in my St Aug so I got The Groundskeeper II rake and went to town on it. Pulled out a LOT of debris. Not as good as a real detach and lots of manual labor but totally worth it if you have some excess thatch in the St Aug.
Is there a benefit to letting the d-thatch spray sit on the lawn and let the rain eventually push it in? Or always water in after applying (thinking battery sprayer instead of hose in here)? I can see both arguments
The only next product I havent bought is D thatch I'm gonna get me some for next year definitely.......also a bit off topic but I'm going to apply floragreen to a sick tree my wife loves do u think micro green would be pointless to add or does it absorb foliar as well??? Thanks again my man 🇺🇸🇺🇸🤘🏻🤙🏼
#1. Man, that core comparison is awesome! 2nd, what are your thoughts of stand alone molasses vs D-thatch. Finally and totally different product. Last September I wanted to finish off all my products and start new. I decided to put out 3/4 of a jug of RGS on 4k sq ft. My Bermuda lawn stayed greener than anyone else's lawn in my neighborhood. Would the RGS have had anything to do with that? Thanks!
A friend of mine did a multi year study on molasses on golf greens, it was published a couple years ago. Molasses reduced thatch more than any of their treatment
At 9:50...mic drop.🎤😂 Bottom line... GCF and their biostems make the soil/roots SO much healthier. My turf care customer's roots are full of longer roots and the hairy rhizomes are crazy thick. And these are in clay soils.
when youre trying to show things, try to shake them and move them around less! the frame rate of the video makes it very hard to see what it is you're showing us. I dont even care about lawns but the experiment was interesting lol.
@@Lawncology what about adding a gallon of 1% milk to the solution? Old wives tale, new wives tale, or Wisconsinites will make all sorts of excuses to consume milk?
Im confused did he say he added RGS to that plot as well...or was that just mispoken and a mistake. Surely putting RGS down as well will contribute to Root Growth...at least i hope or i am getting ripped off by buying it 😅
I’d say you’re right if you threw out color, root density, turf density and actual measurements. To be fair, this isn’t a real test, it’s purely a visual experiment. There’s isn’t a thatch problem on the turf, treated or not. If there were, we likely would have seen something greater and I would have followed the protocols for problematic thatch reduction. It’s a lawn. Not a lab
@@Lawncology meh. You sell products so you are going to be bias and say your brown water is magic. You can't fool me JP. I'm not drinking the Kool aid from the cult of lawncology.

I see what you did at the end...😆
How about BOTH. With everything you are doing to the lawn it is just a great looking healthy grass.

Awesome video John. As always wish I could get in Canada. Might brew up something
It's recommended to use multiple apps of D-Thatch a few weeks apart.
It has helped my St.Augustine since I can't use mechanical de-thatching.
Bad situations require a heavy hand

If you have a real bad problem, use a mechanical dethatcher/power rake. Otherwise. Use d-thatch from GCFC

sadly in ireland this wont work , too cold temps
Healthier grass... I think that's all that matters.
