As a musician who has played at Back Bay Station on some occasions, this is very common to see and hear whenever your on the Orange Line platform. I've heard those things go off time and time again in the middle of my performances. One time, it went off a total of three or four times in just one song I was singing.
Imagine spending millions of money just to make Plastic Door Fares that buzzes you with sound. but gets easily countered by squeezing in or waiting someone to pay
I've seen people follow other people real close so they both walk through the gates without the alarm sounding. I always hear the alarm sounding off at Aquarium, Science Park, State Street and Orient Heights(before the BL was free). Purchasing a ticket before getting on at Union Sq is convenient, but quite a few people just walk right by the machine and nobody checks to make sure they purchased their fare. On the commuter rail, quite often the conductors don't even collect the fares. Some trains are short staffed, so by time the conductor gets to us, the train has passed 3-4 stations and people say to the conductor they got on in Framingham, when they really got on in Westborough. Wake up MBTA, we're sick and tired of paying when others are free loading. Don't bother raising prices, start making sure people are paying their fares!
I was on 57 bus yesterday Kenmore to Allston---was sitting near driver--counted 8 times passengers didn't have enough money on their cards and driver let them on. Happens a lot. Or B/C trains on street open all the doors and let people in. Also, fare boxes often not working.
We need new Faregates in the system. A swing out design like the new BART gates would work. Plus we should have to tap out to open the exit gates so people cant slip through and trip the sensor
Maybe they should fix the damn ticket readers. I’ve had to jump over a bunch of times because the damn Charlie card readers are jammed full of paper/trash or won’t read the card, even though there’s plenty on it.
How Human Nature Works Human nature is the desire to receive, also called “desire to enjoy,” and it functions by receiving what is beneficial to itself and rejecting what is harmful. Everything in our lives is built upon this calculation where we first try to distance ourselves from harm, and then seek how to draw ourselves closer to what is beneficial. Human nature also includes a multilayering of systems that work simultaneously on still, vegetative, animate and human levels. One of those systems is our bodily one, which operates involuntarily. If our bodies are healthy, then they know what is good for them and draw that goodness to themselves. After the bodily system, there is the emotional system, which also functions relatively according to instinct. From the emotional system, we move to the mind, and from the mind to the intellect, and so on. That is, we have systems over systems that concurrently work on receiving what is beneficial and rejecting what is harmful. Such is human nature and the essence of our lives. Our every desire, thought and action operates according to the calculation, “How can we receive what is most beneficial to us and reject what is harmful?”
If you don’t want to pay WALK! How can that guy say some people just do have it but the people may have a box of new sneakers or something else in their hands
They need to myob. They are actually paying higher insurance, so people can live comfortably on the coast. After, their seventh bailout, deny one access to right of way. As they pay less then one percent in property taxes. They make it,just living, and charge you.
Yeah I’ve had people walk behind me (they don’t even ask), use clothes to open the sensor from the other side, jump over them, etc. There needs to be more security In abundance. I take the red line to get to my university and a lot of the stops don’t have enough. Same with the green line, a lot of stops have limited to no security. I wonder in the future if they’ll make some of the trains free like they did with some of the busses.
Kind of tough on a lot of people with inflation. The price of everything is going up including food, clothing, child care, healthcare, gas, interest rates on loans. We are all feeling the pinch. That’s why people are cutting corners in certain areas including paying the fare.
@@redsox1935Yeah I understand. Everything is so expensive nowadays it’s hard to even live. I don’t mind people taking shortcuts, as long as it’s done appropriately. I’d rather have a stranger just ask first before invading my personal space, squeezing through the gates for a free ride lol.
If you cant afford 2.70 then u got bigger problems and these folks just dont want to pay. I bet they got money for cigos and other nonsense u dont need
The problem is we already pay them for public transportation in our taxes it should be free and we should sue our local govt not helping provide free transportation to keep our houses homes and our economy booming

I see homeless and teens going through the gate without paying..It usually the gate with no mbta worker staying by..

if you can't afford to pay a fare.. then you should get a job to be in public transportation. i give no excuses.
Or just get their drivers licenses and drive an vehicle.
No consequences, no issue.
In Holland there are plainclothes security who board, check tickets, and give fines on the spot that you have to pay before you can leave the tram...

Wait the 57 bus
Some are makers, some are takers.
*Many are **_both._*
I'm not frustrated bc the t is not delivering a fair service to even pay the fare 😅

This has happened to me a number of times.
@@JaredFleischer That's why he never returned and his fate is still unlearned.
The problem is there is no law against it. It’s against MBTA policy, but not the law.
The MBTA should be free!
But then how do they pay the employees? How do they keep the trains up-to-date? How would they keep the tracks from deteriorating
I had someone piggyback on me the other day. The MBTA needs to go back to the turnstile system they were using BEFORE…
I'm always vigilant, and do not allow that, nor the jackrabbit entry as I am exiting. If I see someone lurking, I move to a different gate.
If I have no money but have places to be I’d skip the fare too. If I have money then I’ll pay. Some people just don’t have money at the moment.
Gotta love the bs..
You should pay according to your income level, send in a tax return and/or paystub and they will give you a card that corresponds to it that simple.
Just pay already 😡😠😱
3$ for what?

Well said.
Great line from the movie Platoon "Free your Mind, you Ass will follow"
Last February, we paid $90 but were able to ride the shuttle buses instead of the green line, resulting in many people getting a free ride.
Sounds good to me
If you don’t want to pay WALK! How can that guy say some people just do have it but the people may have a box of new sneakers or something else in their hands
fare guarding securities are really underpaid, so they sit and idle waiting for salary
squeeze in, wait someone to open
buzz sound cannot stop you

It’s because there’s no law against it
