      @guthrie_1 8 місяців тому

      Of course they do nothing. It’s not the cops fault. If a cop approaches a suspect, and the suspect escalates the situation, and that leads to him being hurt or k**led, the entire justice system will come down on and crush that officer. We’ve seen it time and time again.
      The risk to an officer for doing his job now is unfathomable. It’s not worth the loss of their freedom, family, and future pension.

      Broken windows was ex-NYPD commissioner William Bratton’s theory. Even NYC’s initial sanctuary laws passed by Koch, were recertified by both Dinkins & Guiliani. But the main law is from 2014 passed by NY City Council and Bill DiBlasio.

      @@marjoriereyes3254Adams has made mistakes (mainly trying to back Biden), but as soon as he starts getting a lot of this mess under control, his successor (probably WM) will come in and take all the credit. Just like what happened with David Dinkins and Rudy Guiliani. Dinkins put many things into action like the hiring of thousands of new cops, financed with a special sales tax he pressured the NY City Council to pass. By the time all the cadets graduated out the police academy, he was out of office and they benefited the Guiliani Administration.
      Plus, the 1994 Crime Bill gave lots of money to cities dealing with violent drug trafficking organizations like NYC. Nevermind, the economy started to rebound in the mid-90s due to the tech boom starting. Crime always falls in good economies. Guiliani benefited from quite a few things, he had nothing to do with. Mr Law and Order is now a criminal himself. So while they focus on Fani Willis (who I really really don’t like), remember Guiliani is now a convicted criminal. As a former DA, he knew the law and broke it anyway.

      it's cuz you watch too much of this stuff. Here you are getting your fix.
      Why do you think people feel less safe than people in Houston despite NYC being safer by orders of magnitude?
      If you weren't watching this as much or at least being critical of what you're hearing you wouldn't "feel unsafe" in one of the safest city in the country by most objective metrics.
      They are literally scaring you so that you can give in to the police state. When we become the only city doing random searches on public transportation by the national guard despite crime being at 50 year lows. I used to live in this city when gun fights would literally break out nightly and Italians were killing each other with car bombs. But back then we didn't have a 24 hour news cycle putting fear in the minds of the impressionable.

If they change the laws i bet my next non existent stimulus check that the crime would fall because now the armed criminals and armed law abiding citizens are on equal playing field.
      The whole system is bogus. Cops can't be everywhere not to mention policing is reactive not proactive.... so law abiding citizens should be able to arm themselves as a proactive solution.

But god forbid they get into with a "disorderly" mentally ill homeless person who happen to be Black who never even touched them but was talking "aggressive" then it's a whole different vibe for them. I used to live across Utica and eastern parkway in Brooklyn NYC… I am part of a mentorship program here in Harlem and we the mentors keep reminding our mentees never skip subway fare, pay it because it will stay on your criminal record !!! Don’t do it!!! Walk like me! 50 years old four kids and I walk more than 10 blocks and I am fine even with arthritis and a broken left knee. It is not worth it!!! If you don’t have the money ask someone to let you go, I do it to people and it feels great to help out, do your one good deed of the day and if you cannot then start asking 50c every day to people you meet in the street (New Yorkers are friendly and generous) till you get your train fare

      Exactly and good for you ! In all my years I never once hopped the turnstile despite being quite athletic ( track team, ran the hurdles ) . Also we grew up quite poor, on welfare for a while. Would never embarrass my mother like that. But in the end it served me well by not expecting freebies in life. Worked hard , studied and became quite well off. These fare beaters will always be expecting freebies throughout their life and as a result will always be poor. Why ? Because that is what they expect from themselves.
