  • VIDEO DESCRIPTION This painting tutorial will take you through easy to follow, step-by-step instructions on how to paint this summer inspired coastal image of "OUT-OF-LUCK PELICAN" with a stunning sunshine glow with the suggestion of a beautiful clear summer sky that is casting a glow on the front of the tall bird as it stands and looks in disbelief at the "No Fishing" sign. You can imagine this ocean scene to be that of a secluded quiet private beach oasis along the sea’s edge. You'll learn simple painting techniques that will help you to create this realistic piece of art with a dreamy peaceful warm summer feel with gentle waves crashing into the shore with a large comical elegant water bird standing on the pier in disappointment. With a graceful posture, the tall imposing feathered crane bird will give the piece life and guide the viewers eye through the painting with the majestic size of it's beak, powerful plumage on it's back and it's cute blue webbed feet. The movement of the water and the depth of the colors in the water will provide dimension to the painting. You’ll learn to paint small linear details on the sign without a ruler or a marker, ocean waves with lots of movement, and fluffy feathers that have depth providing a picturesque view. With a layering technique you'll learn how to create the gentle waves. The sign will appear to be 3-d and have a realistic photo quality after highlights and shadows are properly placed. The vantage point will provide an interesting perspective on the image allowing for the viewer to feel as though they are right behind the bird just watching it all play out. Fishing is a vital activity for these birds to provide food and nutrients in it's life, so I'm sure that this skilled bird will find somewhere else to go find it's next catch of the day. But for now, he will just have to enjoy the ocean scenery on the warm springtime or summertime day at the beach! You'll learn to paint this realistic animal portrait landscape with depth, contrast and natural colors for a seascape that will have your imagination running wild with this majestic stately tropical bird. Using only 3 brushes and 7 colors we'll create this conversational masterpiece inspired by bright summer colors and warm atmospheric dimension, that is sure to bring lively energy on the wall of any home. So let's get painting and let's get sipping!

    Michelle, you have become my favorite teacher/painter. Your style of teaching is wonderful. I love that you have no one else in the background talking to you. You are only engaging with your audience. I have tried a few of your paintings ie the gorgeous Haflinger horse and she turned out great. I am going to paint this on a table we have at our condo called The Pelican Lounge. Thank you so much. I wish you the best. You have taught me so much and I didnt even start painting until I turned 62 and am 64 now.

    Too bad we cannot post ours to the youtube to show “the class”. Mine wasn’t too much of the disaster I expected! Of course it took me 9 hours to complete. 😬 thanks. This was a fun exercise.

      Hi Annabelle, I'm happy to hear that your painting was not too much of a disaster! LOL! I'm glad you had fun! If you are really interested in showing us your work, I have two Facebook pages where people post their paintings. One is a public page for my business "Berkshire Paint and Sip" and the other is a private page called "Michelle's Painting Group". Hello. I have a question. Someone wants to buy one of my paintings. I've never sold one before and don't know what to charge. It's on a 16x20 arteza canvas. I used Basics acrylic paint and hard body paints. What should I charge? I did a good job with it too!

    • @Annbakermodel
      @Annbakermodel 3 роки тому

      My cousin will charge $200-$250 for that size.

    • @michellethepainter.
      @michellethepainter.  3 роки тому

      Hi Debbie, That's a loaded question. I usually charge based on subject matter, style of painting, materials and time spent. For my originals on 16x20 that I do in the videos I charge $100, but I create a ton of them so I have a big inventory. A lot of people will charge anywhere from $25 to $500 for that size (most around $250). I'm not sure if your a Patreon or not, but I gave a detailed lesson on how to charge for your artwork a couple of months ago. If you're not already a member, you could join for one month to have access to the previous class and then cancel if you wanted. You have access to all prior educational classes at the lowest $3 per month level. Links below are for Patreon and to the library of videos that you would have access to. If you have any other specific questions, you can email me directly at michelle@michellethepainter.com. Thanks for watching and have fun painting! ~Michelle Patreon: www.patreon.com/michellethepainter Video Library: berkshirepaintandsip.squarespace.com/patreon-videos
