- VIDEO DESCRIPTION This painting tutorial will take you through easy to follow, step-by-step instructions on how to paint this fun and exciting night landscape animal portrait image of "HOWLING AT THE MOON" with an energetic mystical feel and realistic look to it. You’ll learn how to paint this lovely earie landscape and this enchanting wolf with movement in the clouds by using simple painting techniques for blending and adding highlights and shadows for dimension. You can personalize the type of trees or animal to symbolize your favorite ones, or you could paint the silhouette of a person on the rocks edge reaching for the moon. Imagine the landscape sky to be a beautiful summer night or spring evening with the soft atmosphere of gentle clouds, fog or mist just drifting by and the pine trees off in the distance are being kissed by the glow of the bright moon, maybe even put some sparkly stars in the sky if you’d like. Let the moon be large and the colors natural with vibrant hues using a carefree paint stroke. You’ll learn how to add texture to the rock, moon, clouds and trees to create a 3D effect like a photograph. The canine will come to life with the action of it's mouth in an open position and a simple nightglow on the fur. With the transitioning from dark to light, you’ll create a realistic glow leading the viewers eyes to travel through the painting with the animal as he lets out his call of the wild from the top of the ledge. The complimentary colors will bring cohesion and harmony, creating a symphony of illuminating glows surrounding the focal point. You’ll learn to paint realistic looking clouds that pop with energy, a night sky that has atmospheric dimension and a gray wolf with proper proportions. Inspired by the seductive communication that these nocturnal wolves perform to utilizing the acoustics of the nights air, this painting becomes a symbol and visual picture of the sounds of the night. You'll learn to paint this captivating landscape with depth, contrast and natural colors, creating an image that is inspirational and beautiful. Using only 3 brushes and 5 colors we'll create this conversational masterpiece that is sure to compliment any décor. So let's get painting and let's get sipping!

Wow!!!👏👏👏👏👏 You never cease to amaze me!!! This is so beautiful!! Very impressive!💗💗💗💗💗
You make that look so easy. I love watching you, you are awesome
Thanks so much 😊
My very first attempt at painting in my life is this scene right there. I didn't plan on it or anything, I was given necessary things, I chose this one and winged it. Interesting experience since I consider myself totally unartistic and opposite of gifted. Usually I can draw a stickman at most and not very well but somehow you helped me create a semi decent painting
Great job! Try another!
Awesome..I have been wanting to do a wolf scene for ages...Finally ..Love it..Thanks Michelle..
Hi Michelle! Karen here. I have painted almost all of your projects and I have loved every one of them. NOW, what do I do with them all over the house! lol I've given some away but most are just hanging all over. Don't get me wrong, I love them. I was just wondering if other people have the same wonderful predicament. hehehe
That's great! Actually, a lot of people ask me if they can sell their artwork afterwards! That might be something you could look into!
I have sold a few and I also have given them as gifts. I have motivide some to make them more revelante to the receiver. The one of the mom and baby swan is perfect for a baby shower gift.
Vraiment très beau!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That was PAWESOME!! Great tutorial 👍
Adding this one to my very, very long bucket list...

Having recently retired I was looking for a hobby to keep me occupied over the winter months ... I came across your channel and was captivated ... I last picked up a paint brush over 50 years ago but I have never used acrylic paint. I have just bought some paints, brushes and canvases and after watching your video to learn some of the techniques that you use I am going to give it a try.
I feel that you may make it look easier than it actually is ... your are an excellent artist and teacher ... 🙏

I lost my muse back in June and havent painted or sketched since but your videos started popping back up and I got an invite notification for the 9/18 painting. I love the fall farm land thumbnail. This really got me and now I want to do this up coming painting and some of these latest Halloween themed ones. Time to get some more canvases.

Thanks so much! 😊
I love everything about this painting! I think it’s my favorite…though you’ve done lots of good ones! Looking forward to painting this for Halloween ❤
Thank you so much!
Michelle please don’t pay any attention to negative people. They just need a platform to express the unhappiness they’re feeling…and you have lots of followers. Your twinkling tooth fairy tutorial was my first ever tutorial and it gave me the confidence to “keep” trying! Your gift for teaching helped me to paint it pretty decent! I give the credit to YOU. A lot of us need you to teach us. Haha. You’re fabulous. Please don’t stop. 😊
@@leannebraden8711 Thank you!

Wooooooo
Did you realize your rock looks like a profile of a 🐕. Very cool 😎
Yes! Good eye!
✨✨✨
In oh! I found another I have to try!
Don't like "autocorrect" I mean UH OH!
Me too!!
Hi Michelle, do you have something a little easier for a beginner? this one scares the crap out me. Oh and by the way you are one of the most prolific and gifted artists I've seen. Thank you!
Hi, I have a lot of "easier" tutorials, however all of them are designed for beginners, but clouds are definitely a little tricky, so I get why this one would "scare the crap" out of you...lol! You can check out the videos sorted in my playlists (link below) and that will help you narrow it down a little. I have a kid series that are really easy. For the adult ones, I suggest you look for ones that are shorter in length, as they will have less steps and elements in the painting, therefore making them easier to finish quicker. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching and have fun painting! ~Michelle

I really want to try this but it won't look anything close to yours. You are amazing!!!❤
You can do it!
Oh,MICHELLE!!!!!!!🙋♂️🙋♀️💕😍 🎨👍
For you 😍🌼🌻🌺🌸🌹💐🥀⚘🌷💜👍✌🎨
From Moscow RUSSIAN with LOVE 😍👏👏👏
I love this and the base of the rock looks like a wolf. Is that just the artist eye😂💜
Hi, The wolf shape in the rock happened accidentally, I guess I was channeling full on wolf all throughout this painting! Thanks for watching!
I added a very light breath at the muzzle of the wolf, and this made a nice effect. Bill Eldridge
Nice! Sounds great!
Can an amateur without having the exact same supplies do it? (Having blue but not exact that shade of blue for example) im not looking for a result same as yours but it should be good enough to be gifted
All my videos are beginner friendly as I break everything down step by step and use a limited palette and number of brushes. Have fun painting!
@@michellethepainter. Thank you, i watched the whole thing it really is begginner friendly, keep up the good work 🩵
Geweldig schilderkunst schat 😁
Bedankt!
The picture is stunning. Do you see the eyes in the moon? Kinda looks like a cat face...
Good eye!
Did anyone else see the outline of the wolf on the canvas before she started painting it? It was faint silver lines for the outline.
Hi Glenda, Yes sometimes I will pre-draw the outline on my canvas to follow so the instruction goes smoothly and it's easier for you to follow as the viewer. Have fun painting! ~Michelle
Would it be possible for you to do this on slate please, thanks.
Hi Jim, Sure, you can paint this on slate. It is the same process, but you'll want to make sure that the slate is very clean before you apply the paint, then apply a primer coat, which will allow the paint to adhere to the slate. I would also suggest applying a varnish to the painting once you are done, that will help prevent it from scratches. I hope these tips help. Have fun painting! ~Michelle
