I will say I think you're supposed to takeaway that Sunfyre is curled up around him protectively.
The dragon statue has a broke wing in much the same way Sunfire's wing gets chopped off by Meleys. Foreshadowing the fate of king's dragon way before we see it in action

It was also nice to see Milly - even as a cameo - in the last two episodes.

Of course HotD doesn’t disappoint in parting you from some of your favorite characters. 😭 RIP Rhaenys. My real admiration began when she escaped the castle and got to Meleys to burst through the floor to interrupt Aegon’s coronation. Rhaenys was such a wise, levelheaded, brave, and loyal character. She would have been a perfect to officially made the Hand.

I did not realize the cat thing until you said it. lol. I was waiting for you to mention that Rhaenys/ Meleys beat Vhagar despite the size difference. It was Aemond's craftiness that won the day.
Aegon the Ruling Cat of Westeros. He also is pro cats in the sense that he killed all the rat catchers which is going to mean more cats in King's Landing. Lotta weird cat connections here. lol Also yes, I wasn't too surprised with Meleys initially coming out on top in that fight. Rhaenys and Meleys have more experience together. I figured Rhaenys would be impressive in a battle but I did think inevitably that Aemond would take this one when I saw him hiding in wait. Very crafty indeed.

Was definitely looking that way. Or he could have been aiming for Aegon's dragon to take Sunfyre away from his brother and punish him. I don't think Aemond is quite that cruel though to take out his beef on Aemond.

Dunno. He probably knows he'd be a more effective king. And chances are he'd be the Green choice.
Yeah this episode was alot. As i mentioned that Cole's plan had more too it. This trap which the show writer's are attributing to Amond (which is fair enough since it's never stated who's it was). Another interesting difference is Aegon was said to be included in the trap was to have their two dragons overpowering one.
I'm not sure how the tv series will play this part, Aegon and Helaena have a second son Maelor who's now heir (but he was noticable absent from the Blood and Cheese scene Helaena was actually supposed to be told to pick which son dies and had chosen Maelor). Maybe he'll just be introduced next episode like Alicent 3rd son was missing for the whole first season and Otto was finally like "prince Daeron almost a man now in oldtown" last week.
A pretty popular theory of Alys Rivers is she's Melisandre from GoT given her considerable age.
I'm very happy we got some good views of Sunfyre this episode before the battle, as he was discribed as the most beautiful dragon the world had seen with how his golden scales shone in the sun and we get that.

Regarding Alicent, it wouldn't matter at this point if she changed sides. Aegon, the council and Aegon's supporters would label her a traitor and she would lose her head. We need to remember that Alicent was manipulated by Otto Hightower and did not have the prior knowledge of A Song of Ice and Fire to understand that Vicerys did not mean that Aegon II was the Prince that was Promised. She literally took Vicerys' last words as an interpretation that Aegon was supposed to be heir.
This entire story will revolve around misinterpretations, hunger for power and a series of mishaps that cause the Targaryen lineage to dwindle. There truly is no winning side of the story so by choosing sides we are missing the point that violence begets violence and no matter who you are, there are others that will manipulate and control whatever power you have.
No side actually wins this war. There will be disappointments on both sides.
