/* ---- VIDEO INFORMATION ---- */
Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show I'm your host Paul and this video we're breaking down House Of The Dragon.
-
The season 2 finale is finally here and episode 8 has a lot of things to talk about. Throughout this video we're gonna be going through the entry and talking about all the easter eggs and callbacks to the book. This will flesh out certain scenes and discuss how they were recorded in history and also where we're gonna be going for the future.
I'll also be talking about what I think will happen in Season 3 and I'll save that for the spoiler section at the end.
So for the last time please hit that thumbs up and make sure you're subscribed for most big breakdowns on lots of upcoming shows and movies.
With that out the way, thank you for clicking this, now let's get into House Of The Dragon.
-
Now the episode is titled the Queen who ever was with this being a play on the queen who never was. That was how this entire show started with Rhaenys gaining that nickname after being looked over. This title now refers to the future and the episodes laced with visions and prophecies that foreshadow this.

In the Godswood, Alfred Broome is talking to Daemon. With subtitles on, you hear someone whisper "traitor", to Broome, to which he responded "Did you hear that?", and Daemon responded with,"This place will have you......."
Also, may be callback to Bran when he uses the Wierwood Trees to view history and keeps saying stuff people hear, like Ned and Hodor
Uppin' their Auntie, that was a good one. Lol
Your bane funko is knocked over and my brain won’t allow me to not see it all video 🤣🤣🤣 but so far good video
@@Chon-c You missed the joke, silly. It shows Jon Snow and Daenerys... who is his aunt...
Dear god, the reading from the book sections are just as bad (if not worse) as all the Daemon dreams! I literally just skip through them & still understand just fine. Please for the love of whatever you find holy, next season PLEASE DONT READ FROM THE DANG BOOK SO MUCH! Or at least paraphrase! If I wanted to read the book, then I would read the book.
THIS EPISODE WAS THE EXACT REASON WE SHOULD HAVE HAD 10 EPISODES INSTEAD OF 8
Twas the plan. They ran out of dough.
This should have been episode 4 or 5. But the Alicient-Rhaenyra scene mucked it up, it was a great episode if not for that one scene.
I wish you were able to type that louder somehow.
Remember when tv series had 25-30. 1-hour episodes PER SEASON like Dynasty & Dallas for example!
@@MiaCole50Peak TV. I watch C and K dramas and they have like 60 episodes 1 hour each. Fully fleshed out characters and stories.

We got a 70 minute trailer for Season 3.
😂😂😂
which will just be more dialogue lol
Pretty much
broooooo
lol
I loved that Rhaenyra trusted Addam to ride with her to Harrenhal because Corlys trusts him.
And she gaged his behavior at the table too to finalize her opinion. The madness comes after.😢
Nah, Seasmoke is just larger and Adam can behave
The bar has been set incredibly low if that's what people are praising about the season finale.
And he’s the best behaved
@user-sx6vn3id7nur the problem. I’m not black and I can see that has nothing to do with this. He was the best behaved with most respect at table besides Hugh hammer.
The season finale should always end on a bang. Season 1 ended on Aemond killing Luke. Season 2 ended on preparing for the war, which is no different then the entire season
That’s why we needed 10 episodes. This finale is the definition of a great episode 9. So I guess they will have to play the Season 3 premiere like the season 2 finale, and use episode 2 as a season premiere
If only season 3 has 12 episodes to make up for this 😭🙏
@@JoshToksPop85 I only really thought the episode had 7 episodes I really did not like the premiere I thought it was so boring except for blood and cheese at the end that first episode was a fucking drag oooof
@@psychedelicyeti6053 I wouldn’t count on that. I’d pray for 10, but it might be another 8 episode season
it feels like they are switching the big bang for the beggining of the season now instead of at the end and i don't like it lol the writers suck for HOTD
I'm sad where it ended. The climax of the episode was the ending. I really wanted to see some conflict.
Season 3 better make it all up I want fighting every episode 😂
Yeah I feel betrayed
I said it b4 the leaks and tonight when it aired It was going to be more so a filler episode.
It’s a good episode but no one will convince me that this was a great finale
They really screwed around with Daemon hallucinating most of the season just to tease the good stuff in the finale lol

I loved how Haelena spoke in past tense when telling Aemond his future. Like her connection to whatever gives prophecy powers makes her experience life without time.
When she sat with alicent, she was looking to her left, maybe she saw someone.
Both Aemond and Daemon got a glimpse of their deaths which are intertwined.
why is she suddenly clear now? before she was always in her dreams. it doesn't seem like helena anymore

The weirwood vision just left a bitter taste in my mouth. It didn't illicit the response they were trying to get. It just made me even more pissed about that season 8 GoT episode. IYKYK
Was waiting for the crippled king to be on the thrown not raenerya lmao
Why would they even bring up that dumpster fire? Was weird..
They should have stopped that unnecessary linking to the worst GoT plotline being the white walkers. Showrunners don't you know that was the most frustrating part of season 8 failure? Stop reminding us of this shit and move on
I can't remember where I read this comment, but in the episode where Rhaenyra tells Jace the prophecy, someone wrote, "I'm trying to forget S8 happened, Rhaenyra!" And that comment keeps making me laugh whenever I read someone write similar things 😂
I really liked it! Seeing daenerys gave me goosebumps!! ❤
This episode was a huge tease. Blueballs until 2026 probably. Maybe a little more budget to make the White Walker not look like a guy in a mask during that flaskback?
Lmfao I thought the same thing. I'm like is this a homeless White Walker lol
I’m so mad rn
it was before his facelift, be nice
Def but still a great episode
The white walker was supposed to be daemon
Ulfs rudeness was pissing me off 🤣 like your not in flea bottom now mate 😂, I enjoyed it great flashback didn’t think they’ll connect og GOT to HOTD
He really annoyed me. I would have been like nah I change my mind about you

It’s going to his head
Jace should of stabbed him. His way is just bad.
He will die in Season 3 and people will rejoice
When Alfred Broome is talking to Daemon in the Godswood, he says "did you hear something", with subtitles on, you hear someone whisper "traitor" to him.

Why did it happen?
@@SimranKaur-z7q He was telling Daemon to turn against Rhaenyra and make his own claim for the throne with his new army. The look on his face when Daemon bend a knee to her.

It was clearly a significant moment being near the God's Eye and someone other than Daemon experiencing it. Just couldn't tell what it was.
Cheers!

I had to rewind a couple of times, but you can hear 'traitor' softly whispered just as he starts talking to Daemon.
Daemon is still hallucinating at Harrenhal, Rhaena is still chasing Sheepstealer, and Allyn is still loading a ship since the beginning of the season. Season 2 in a nutshell.
You obviously weren’t paying attention at all
@Vermax-n6j you obviously have too much time on your hands to be going down, trolling people's comments. As someone who has read the series and appreciates the show, I can tell you that this season had a pacing problem.

Alyn confronting the sea snake was my favorite part for sure
Corlys not paying child support was tragic.
This was the most unsatisfying episode of the entire season. There are exactly 3 conversations that actually moved the story forward. The rest was padding the runtime so the writers wouldn't have to actually resolve any storylines or spend any money until season 3. Most of it felt totally unearned, and worst of all were the contrived conflicts that were overplayed to replace meaningful interactions (ex. Jacerys and Ulf) or just didn't fit with the story. The Rhaena thing is obnoxious as hell. The show writers kept trying to build some sort of anticipation around something we've known was gonna happen for 3 episodes already and nobody notices her total dereliction of duty toward her younger half-brothers, who she left completely unprotected with the staff. On top of that, they had to throw in a couple of needless girlboss moments not in the books. Obviously making the Triarchy captain a woman AND a lesbian was Emma D'Arcy's idea just like the stupid kiss with Mysaria that doesn't fit with the story whatsoever. At this point why not just have Disney write the rest of the show? And then they ended the Harrenhal arc with a repetition of the whole "King of the North" scene from GoT in place of any actual meaningful events that move the story forward. Honestly IDK how much Gurrm had to do with how this season ended but if I were an HBO exec I'd be thinking about canceling the series.
worst. actor. ever.
@@worldadventuretravel dude quit copying and pasting
I was disappointed with the finale. We had to deal with Daemon tripping on shrooms for most of the season. Then Rhaena running around, nearly freezing to death looking for a dragon. Why not have her on Sheepstealer headed off to fight.
I thought Rhaena will atleast claim it ..but naah
How did they go the whole f'in episode without her claiming sheepstealer???? Such a let down!
Right!! I screamed, "Can y'all please do something with her character?!"
Now they’re just gonna show her straight away riding the dragon next season without the scene of them bonding 🙄
I just hope she won't
someone should tell Daemon that the white walkers will be killed by a 90 lb girl with a knife. He won't be so worried then.
My thoughts as well 😂 all of that for literally nothing. What are all these prophecy things for? If D&D decided to ended in the most anti climatic way possible lmao.
A girl won’t be disrespected
Why should Arya get to do that after all that training and ending up with a dragon glass knife. She didn’t have to wrestle him
The White Walker was killed by No One.
Don't give me ptsd like that. Jon "the simp" Snow's character assassination still causes my wife to wake me up in a cold sweat to this day.

Seemed like the consequence of cutting it down to 8 episodes and the original next two episodes being moved to season 3.
I didn't even know it was the finale until I started looking for recap info. This was traaaaaash.
@@nezarecdiscipleofthewitnes3823 it comes back on next year lol it already went thru the 2 year process. From here on it comes on every year
It should have ended with the 7th episode or been a 10-episode season.
Rhaenyra isn’t cruel for having to kill Aegon. It’s something that has to happen. She has an army behind her and countless houses that have pledged allegiance to die for her. If she retakes KL and lets Aegon live, it cheapens those allegiances and disrespects the people who have laid down their lives for her. She has no choice but to kill him.
I was actually angry with the ending... the entire season was going at a snails pace and I thought for sure something happens in episode 8 right??? nope.... absolutely nothing happens. And now we wait 2 years for the next season.
Same thing I'm bitching about
Fuckin seriously
Yeah I’m extremely disappointed
The show will die.. I’m a huge fan of the universe I read the books and all but just not enough substance compared to GOT
This is how i felt. I loved the show but my god something needs to happen. We should of gotten some form of payoff
Hi yes I’ll have 8 episodes of setup with a side of Tyrod
Kinda disappointed that we didnt get a battle as the finale. They were saying the whole season that war began but it didnt feel like a war and it still feels like theyre setting up the war.
I mean the last scene was all of the armies converging. The war is here. This season was putting all the pieces in place.
@@miserableunoriginalBut everyone is preparing for war, just like last season. This season really needed those extra episode and either the fall or the gullet.
@@lucasbelmonte2832 last season ended with Luke dying, that was the major catalyst for the eventual war. This season began with the fallout from his death and the shows the beginnings of the actual war.
I mean the war definitely started. If not at Rook Rest we can even consider Aemond killing Lucerys as what started it all. It feels very long and drawn out for sure. But season 3 is where we will finally see all out war taking place.
Most wars are not all out battle even without dragons. People would die in two days and the realm would cease.
I think it's flawed to call Adam a coward. Who wouldn't run from a dragon pursuing them? To me it was a totally normal response. How many times has a dragon flown overhead where you hear people scream "dragon" while scattering to find shelter. Ulf and Hugh were "brave" only because they had reason to believe they had a chance to bond with one. Had a random dragon chased them without provocation, I'm sure their reaction would've been the same...
The lasting damage is S8E2. Every reference to Winter is undermined by the fact that the dead were wiped out so easily by Arya jumping over an entire army of White Walkers.
ikr and they keep reminding us of that almost every episode
First time I've been disappointed by the constant dialog with no action. I thought for sure we'd at least get the major conflict kicking off in the final five to ten minutes. Tease of a finale. Imo
100%
Really thought Aemond was gonna push Halaena off that roof. I think we can all agree that her death will cause the most controversy in real life. 'To War!'
I thought she was going to jump and then that he was going to push her and blame it on her.
She was the only good part in entire episode. She predicted more than what entire season showed
Why the hell didn't he? She's supposed to be launched into Maegor's spike pits by now anyway!

Did anyone else hear the music playing over the major players marching to battle at the end, each one matched the houses themes.
I’m so disappointed by this episode
This season moved at a snail's pace.
this episode was good as an episode. And it is the absolute worst as a finale
it was a long trailer for season 3 :(
My boy Larys out here trying to convince Aegon to join him on an Ibiza holiday while the company goes under 😭 Alright jokes aside Im honestly really upset that this is the finale we get before waiting 2 years. We ended S1 with everyone preparing for war. How are we ending S2 with everyone still preparing for war? And I don’t wanna hear any of that “character development” bullshit that you people here have been using to justify the slow pace for WEEKS. Like Daemon and Rhaenyra’s storylines this season weren’t utterly repetitive and dull (“wHaT woULd yOu hAvE me dO “) Alicent’s dumbass selling out her entire family who have no idea and are marching to their deaths and Heleana spoiling the entire show. I don't even know how Otto end up in a cell man!! You cannot convince me all this couldn’t have been the first half of a 10 episode season.
HBO fumble up big time.
To the writers of this show, you suck
Maybe becuase they're female?
dang the breakdown is as long as the episode 😂 go off king!!
His ending was great not like hbo
You do realize that a lot happens to Daemon at Harrenhal: he's stripped down, ripped out, and re-formed. For a character as hard as Daemon, you need a lot of that for him to yield and face himself. I liked all of this, and it actually made me much more interested in him than I had been previously, when I felt his character was kind of standard-issue. So personally, I don't understand the complaints about his arc at Harrenhal: I would have happily spent even more more time watching Harrenhal have its way with him.
I've been say this all season: give me a supercut of Daemon at Harrenhal and I'll be happy 😂
House of the dragon, not house of Daemon tripping balls for 8 episodes

Instead of rushing it, they are stretching it out, and im here for it! Give me the details, the small moments that describe why a character does what he does, how theyve changed. The whole season they all sat in their castles and planned and gathered forces. This episode was them finally making the move, really starting the true war. Next season is sure to be action packed, without a detail left out! This season assured us that they will never rush through it like D&D did. This is what everyone asked for. More content, more time when travelling. Although, we couldve at least SEEN sheepstealer get tamed. Overall, 8/10 for this episode. Major plot points set up, and ill be on the edge of my seat for 2 years 😂
I spat out my drink with laughter when you referred to the Doom of Valyria with a photo of the newly casted Doctor Doom 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My favorite part about the finale was that they left me at a place where I have no urgency to see the next season. The next season can come after 5 years, and I wouldn't have any issues.

Finale was anti-climatic
season*
Zzzz the whole time
The first half of the season went as it should however, the second half was ultimately lackluster. Building tension but all smoke and no fire. This was not the way to send us off into the two year wait.
It’s very noticeable that it needed another episode.
For sure
I don’t understand this 8 episode set up. People talk about budget I really doubt that’s the case but then again the episodes were pretty long
No it just needs to stop adding filler and stretching the season, so much yet so little happened
Nah, shouldve ended with episode 7, rhaenyra conscripting dragon seeds was a good place to call it for this season. Wouldve been more climactic and got people excited to see them in action. Episode 8 just went off the rails and slowed the pacing down to a crawl. Another episode wouldnt fix anything itd only add more bloated dialog with no plot development.
I am opposite, If budget is really the problem then they should have wrapped this up in 6 episodes instead of stretching it out this much. Not only it will help with budget issues, but it would have better pacing and lot less yapping about same things over and over again.
That way they could even have shorter time between seasons.
Part of me wonders if the apology Helaena gave Alicent was meant for her betraying her son to Rhaenyra?
I immediately thought of her saying, "I forgive you," which was meant for Alicent stealthily going to Dragonstone later on. 🤔
The editor’s little notes here and there are cracking me up 😂😂
i knew i shoulda just waited til the show was over to watch this. season finale was good for the context and build up but jesus i wanted some action
I actually did that for GoT lol binged all 8 seasons in like a month I loved it.
It's a drama not an action series
Potential Spoiler ‼️ I feel like Rheana will be beside her father fighting against Vhagar, as the battle between Caraxes and Vhagar seems like a bit unrealistic no matter how fearsome Caraxes is.. this will make Daemon realize how much he ignored his daughters, and how much the daughters want his approval.. instead of a love story with nettles I feel like they will solidify the father-daughter love!
ok now just try to avoid spoilers for 4 years please
I like this, actually! If those are the changes they want to make for the show.
I thought that Rhaena leaving her duty of caring for Rhaenyra's sons would have her shunned from Rhaenyra. But we will see what they do with her character if they're merging her another character.

This show has pissed me off… the last 4 episodes have just been talking and dreams of silly shit.. minus rooks rest this season has sucked.. and the ending was the climax with zero conflict.. time to wait another year just to wait for something to happen.
2 years 🤬🤬
But wait, there's more: We actually have to wait 2 years.
Straight soap opera ….
Feels like I was watching days of our lives
Should have had subway surfers gameplay on your tv then
I'm really, really going to miss your weekly foot puns. 😂
“Upping the ante” then “upping your Auntie…” I caught that! Clever. Well struck!
“Aemond’s a big heel.” I heard it my friend, I heard it. Nicely done. 😂
None of these writers should ever work in Hollywood again this is a fucking joke of a season
Rhaena being Nettles is the worst change/decision and it’s not even close. What a great way to destroy any form of canon.
Only way they bring it back is if Rhaena meets nettles, and Rhaena doesn’t claim sheepstealer. Absolute worst change by far if Rhaena=Nettles
@@thelocdesiringentryintoyou3686 of all the issues with the show, the side character nettles is the least of our concerns. She wasn't really that great of a character anyways.
@@kylebraymen2483 like you could do any better
@@anthonylesley982 what you think they couldn’t have done better? You’re just a fucking idiot if you think that’s true 😂😂🤡
This is what happens when Hollywood forces female writers/directors on staff. Solid season but I agree it was a bit of a letdown
I’m a bit disappointed tbh
Stop bitching
Same
Terrible finale and season
Rhaena is not nettles. Single worst change in the show imo
Big time
Honestly thought Rhaena was going to be the new Gendry....
Bro is still rowing
Thank you for the breakdowns this season!!
I don’t agree with it being petty for Rhaenyra to ask Alicent to give up Aegon to be publicly executed. She knows no matter how crippled and vulnerable he is, as long as he lives he will pose a threat to her as a man. The same way Larys urged him to leave and raise an army to come back for his throne from Aemond, Rhaenyra knows that’s always a possibility with him living.
They put literally all of the important scenes in the trailer.
What a waste of a finale.
Wtf was that. I haven't seen a cliffhanger as malicious as that since Halo 2.
Lol way to open old wounds 😂
They should’ve atleast did one closer it was too many wide open endings .. 1. The war harrenhal 2. Rhaena sheep stealer 3 Allison 4 Otto 5 argon 6 haleana it was too many nothing was satisfied as far as story arch
I know it's definitely not the ending most people wanted but I still think it was a good one. Daemon FINALLY accepting his role, Alicent realizing this war is entirely her fault, and the precipice for scorched earth all-out war is what this season was supposed to be about. The acting and cinematography were meant to be the highlights to forshadow what season 3 will look like with more battles and more at stake
Loved Simon Strong’s reaction when everyone bent the knee to the rightful queen, shout out to Simon. 🫡
Tylin isnt Master of Coin, hes Master of Ships

Shame how this season finale was true to episode 8s of 10 episode seasons

A finale with no conflict....come on man
Beautifully set up. I feel like the chess pieces are all in place. Why rush battles? Let it brew. I enjoyed it.
Idk why everyone assumes the issue people have is no action. The problem is the story isn't interesting or clever. There is no mystery or intrigue either. GoT was amazing even when there were no battles (season 1 is the GOAT imo) because of the story beneath the story. And we didn't already know everyone's moves or motives because they talked like actual people in a conversation not exposition dumps
Yall just as fast as me with the recaps
Idk how you don’t like sir Cole after this episode. Yes he’s a flawed character (literally every character is flawed in this universe) but damn none of you can’t relate to the helplessness of his situation??? Like yes he definitely could have made better choices but at least he ain’t going around graping people or killing innocent people.
Your editor deserves a raise!! Apart from getting spoiled, editing an hour-long video is no easy feat,

@@FacelessPropaganda all good man, wasn’t being rude about it
I Am glad I am not the only one disappointed with the S2 end episode
Haven’t watched through the video properly but if I’m honest that was an extremely lacklustre season finale. As much as I like them sticking to the main story it doesn’t feel like it progressed much and the main reason seems to be to keep Jace there longer. It seemed very unnecessary to try to connect HoTD and GoT series with the Daemon scene, just tell the story of the Dance. My expectations for season 3 are extremely high in terms of that’s where majority of the conflict will be. It seems like they could’ve made this 3 seasons instead of stretching it out to 4. Very disappointing personally as I was one who defended the show despite the poor decisions but can’t help but feel the season didn’t live up to expectations.
48:59 😬 remembered that scene where rhaena had a concerning look on her face while she asked rhaenyra of her father- 😶
50:00 - 50:10 ((Fades out from black... but the black blinked twice) (camera zooms out from daemon looking up at someone, rhaena is then shown with an out stretched hand and a gentle smile, daemon hesitant, finally takes her hand while immediately frightened by sheepstealer's cry. Fades out to black)
I feel Daemonds dream confirms Danny was the prince
She wasn’t the prince was a man Jon snow
It was already confirmed that Aegon Targaryen VII, aka Jon Snow, is the "Prince."

@@patrickpet7905 not exactly. and why can't there be more than one?

just thought id point out that in this episode we got our 2nd piece of dialogue directly confirming sunfyre is dead, i dont think he/she will be grounded for life like the book, just thought id mention because you mention near the end that sunfyre is out of the picture for now, could be baiting us but i think they will change that part of the story
"Up in his auntie" was great mate!! 👏🏾🤣
They freakin ruined Daemon's arc... He literally was called The Rogue prince.. And here he is a sweet puppy!
Nettles interesting character was far more disappointing. Nettles=/=Rhaena
Would you have been happier if he went for the crown, against Rhaenyra?
@@pedro6720 He was always loyal to Rhaenyra... But what they did to him was bullshit... He literally forced Riverlords to the death to bend knees for Rhaenyra...unlike in the show where he is clueless asking for help. Then the attack on King's Landing was also his plan not Alicent's and Rhaenyra's... And he had already accepted Rhaenyra as her queen in season 1....why to again bring him to the same front!
