What makes a season finale great? Or what ruins a season finale for you? How did you feel about this one?
The problem with Ruby's mother isn't that the fans were hoping for a big reveal. It's that the show set up a big reveal, and then changed its mind. Ruby being able to make it snow was a mystery the Doctor wanted to solve. Her nature was puzzling to Maestro. It was brought up in episode after episode. It was a big deal until it wasn't, and somehow it's the fans who are wrong.
I guess just screw Discount Jack Harkness. He can stay in that barren universe, or whatever, until at least the xmas special.
I feel like this episode was the perfect kind of weird for Doctor Who 🧐

Not my favorite but I enjoyed it over all.
The only channel that called/predicted the Sutek reveal are the people at the WhoCulture channel. And for them it was less then a 50/50 chance that it would be Sutek.

Really liked your thoughts on managing / inadvertently manifesting expectations...
To me, the episode was a collection of nice scenes held together by a confusing story. It's frustratingly close - one more draft and some proper explanations - away from being really good.
It was certainly an unexpected finale for me, too.
I call it Season 40 as I join all of the series of Dr. Who together I didn't even like that they renamed it to Series 1 when it returned back in 2005.
