That, was Telegraph Hill ascending from the Splatford Split! I went up the other way to Plymouth carrying two tractors in 1st gear and was seriously beginning to think I'd have to take them off and drive them to the top! And Wellington was named after the Duke of Wellington and the monument you may have seen to your right is Wellington Monument!
@TheEasystart * I used to go up Telegraph Hill in the 70s and 80s at 32 ton with a 180 gardner that's a struggle not like his V8 with hardly any weight on
@@JohnSmith-hl2mg I once had a Golf TDi with a warped cylinder head and it was being overtaken by an HGV going up the A380 hill at the Splatford Split that sent it to the scrapper lol.

Hey Trucker Tim I'am glad that you got the okay from the DVSA inspection just remember too turn off your blue lights on the top off your cab and the next time that you are staying out in your truck take the number plate off your trailer if you are worried about someone stealing it in the middle off the night.

You lugging the engine Tim 😅 Next time, override the gearbox and select a lower gear, 1500 rpm is a sweet spot for climbing a steep hill. I'm a bit flinching when you lugged the engine down to 1000 rpm on a hill that steep. 😅

I always used to go 2 minutes over to make sure I had a full break, also used to use stopwatches as I used tachograph cards and had no display on the dash
Hi Tim, that a303 is a great road. I work for Mansfield recovery out Aylesford kent. I took a funeral car from gravesend to torquay last week sun out toe down, the way it should be ..
12:08 me and my mum & dad visited that campervan place and this video honestly brought me to tears as I’ve been down these same roads with my dad who passed away 3 months ago it is so strange seeing a place I’ve visited out of nowhere.
That home made accelerator on the tractor reminded me of the time quite a few years ago my throttle cable snapped on my Scania 145 as I turned on to the M1 Staples Corner. At 4am I knew no fitter or help would come to me until about 07:30 that morning. Engine running ok but cable broken what can I do, I knew my company had an account with Scania at South Mimms so that where I need to try and get to. I took my shoe laces out of my trainers and tied them together and tied one end to the diesel injector pump throttle arm and routed the rest under the cab and up to my drivers window. Now I had a hand pull throttle that worked. It was tricky steering, changing gear and pulling the throttle with one hand out the window but I got there bought a new cable and off I went.
At some point in the early 1800s Arthur Wellesley, then Viscount Wellington, asked his shoemaker, Mr George Hoby of St James's Street, London, to make a boot which was easier to wear with the new trousers. Hoby removed the tassel and cut the boots lower to make them more comfortable for riding.
Glad everything went well with the police & DVLA I am enjoying seeing all the content you are putting out looking forward to seeing your next content 🚛🚛🚛🚛🚛🚛

11:40 that's Haldon Hill its notorious for being steep, a lot of trucks tend to go round the right side towards Plymouth as its less steep and then double back to over to totnes that way. when it snows, traffic will regularly get snowed in there, roughly 5-7 years ago it snowed really bad that cars had to be abandoned as everyone was snowed in.
