There are more and more stories of the people pushing back against companies. This is the 4th time this year that I’m aware of where a larger company has been bullied by the community into making changes. Long may this continue.
Yes, I notice it as well. First, it's a punch to the belly and then a sucker punch straight to their bank accounts. The EU makes some noticeable changes in the law. Their line of punishments is the good old "the fee scaling up along the size of the company." No other tactics hurt just as much. I had never, ever heard of a case of a man, company, government or any power on the planet not bowing under the EU's law. Right now, I only wait to pull back manufacturing out of China. What, sadly, will hurt the regular Chinese.
Except the players don't actually boycott anything. It's the same kind of slacktivism everywhere. Expressing distaste for something all while continuing to use it. People saying "we're not going to use your app for 2 weeks! .... but then we'll come back." Lol ooh so scary! Uninstall the game/app until the changes are made or else you won't get results.
Remember the game had to get this bad first. People are okay with a name being 5% shitter every year for 10 years but then a company makes it 10% better one year and are praised for it. In reality they still made it 40% worse in 10 years overall. (not actual numbers, just an example)
About the boycott, while many players likely logged on for the daily rewards, it's important to know that the battle count(you can see it ingame) was low during the first day of the boycott and then started rising again.
honestly, given how much gaijin care about queue times ("BR decompression would make queue times worse"), it could've been pretty significant if it had been maintained for a few days

Wow, i actually stopped playing years ago because of this exact issue. Too grindy at higher tiers, insane repair costs especially when you keep getting killed at start of the map by KA50s etc. These changes might just be what pulls me back into the game again!
I have never played War Thunder, and had no idea about these horrific acts of war perpotraded against us gamers. Great video, amazing edit, very entertaining!
I'm so very glad this whole thing happened, i really do love this game but the economy is just suffocating. If they actually pull through with thw changes on the roadmap i will finally be able to enjoy the game again without having to worry about my virtual bank account after every match. Also, great recap of the whole situation, thanks.
The only thing that stops me from playing is knowing that i'll NEVER be able to try any good tanks or planes because of the grind. I'd LOVE to play it, i'd LOOOOVE to play in a spitfire, or a tiger, or a jet fighter, or an helicopter, but no, Gaijin said "devote your life to our game and maybe you'll be able to"
This was about time, I left for good their toxic games a long time ago but happy to see that happening. This company based his entire business model on people frustration, they really mastered it over the years, don't let them drag you into they scheme.
I was checking your channel for about 8 years now and since I came back to warthunder, it is really interesting to see what is happening around the game. Your video is just perfectly explaining that, thank you! Hope to see more of you - You're an awesome creator.
Also in gaijin's defences, i datamined the body pillows Days before the economical changes, and it was probably a few weeks in the making before, so except if they have looooooooooooooong time planing, i doupt it was made as a "backup plan" if they fucked up eco changes.
i belive the same needs to hapen to world of warships . its gotten insane the ammount of preditory ways war gaming uses in there . irl money for ships - irl money for grind assist - irl money for simple tasks like keeping modules that you had allready grinded for when changing ships - irl money for event bundles - irl money for litteraly everything - hell even on theyr "black friday event they were asking for 50-90 $ for ships / lootboxes - not to mention the endless credit drains built in so the players will have an extremely hard time building anything on theyr own - like MONTHS of investments for a sinble tech tree line if you dont pay money . flag costs . Its getting out of hand realy . not to mention balance changes that are based on "popularity" trying to artificialy boost stats on newer ships so more players will use them and buy them , even tho its plainly obvious that those ship lines are absolutely destructive towards anything else both in terms of gameplay and in terms of engagement - aka : Submarines , Hybrid battleships , Carriers , High Explosive round spamers , removal of viable builds with theyr captain update . Hell once they even threatened a youtuber because they protested against theyr new shiny carriers by specificly focusing them down as fast as they possibly could and as the icing on the cake repair and rearm costs ontop of the cost of upgrading a ship / captain without using irl money is a freeking nightmare - barely 100 k credit reward in an average game with 30-100% booster plus premium booster - and just the repair cost for a tier 8 is around 80-90 k credits ..... its INSANE
Using the music from Red Alert during the "went to war" charge was an epic clapback (also, irony, since EA pretty much turned Westwood Studios games into piles of steaming doggy dung.)
Great video, but you forgot to mention how a few days after the economy nerf was announced someone from gaijin explicitly said that the economy was designed to be unsustainable to F2P players. Which is not exactly secret but it wasn't confirmed to this point, and helped a lot to start the review bombing.
And when we needed him most, he came back. On a serious note though, I'm not a World of (title) player nor a War Thunder Player. I'm a player who's weary about the greediness of Game Companies around all platforms. I'm genuinely astounded that games currently on market on steam are costing 300R$ or 400R$ (roughly 60-70USD) which in my country is a lot o money. I saw some videos in which a single aircraft in WarThunder is 50USD, almost a full game price. What the actual fuck? If people would actually pressure companies to become more reasonable on their pricing of games and in-game shops, that would seriously change the entertainment market. But idk, maybe I'm only a poor guy who can barely play any games that he would've liked to play (CK3 for example, paradox games has a DLC policy which challenges that of EA)...
That "The more you fuck around, the more you're gonna find out" clip made me burst out into laughter. lol And yeah, review bombing might piss off Steam and the game companies, but it is _the_ most and potentially only truly effective way of getting through to scuzzy companies. Ya hit 'em where it hurts, and where they can't just ignore it.
I'm not sure you guys are aware. Very early, in 2013, War Thunder was on update 1.27 (i think), and it was marvelous. Economy was so good, that you neither felt flying through progression, nor did you feel bogged down forever. It was very natural, we didnt have problems spending money on the game, because we loved it. And then they introduced 1.29 (i think). The Daisy Cutter update, cutthroat changes. With the amount of planes in the game, and quite a few nations...altogether it started to look impossible to unlock most things you'd like to play. We felt the greed oozing from Gaijin. And it's not childsplay, it's a concrete pathological condition. After 1.29 update a lot of youtubers and players gradually started leaving, including Mighty Jingles and many more. As a player, I left as well. So this "roadmap" ... Well...I don't really think it is going to last for long. Overall, as players, you guys should AVOID any game that sells a tank, a plane or a rifle for the same amount as a full AAA game costs. Either it's Gaijin or it's World of Warships - tanks cost 30$ or even 90$ in some cases (with useless bonus-something added in). It's just pure madness. And the fact that you purchase Premium account (10-15$ a month) for such games, and you STILL are struggling for credits and other things, and you actually cannot play the game fully, you still have to grind for credits, it's beyond belief. Just stop playing these garbage games. There are so many good games, like Monster Hunter World, Mount and Blade: Bannerlord and many others, I've had so much fun over the years even in these single player games and at a fraction of a cost. I cannot imagine what my experience would've been, had I stayed with Warthunder or World of Tanks. I probably would've gone gray.
Those who want a solid tank game should try for early sims that were not super complex but really polished like steel fury Kharkov 1942 which had detailed interiors and you could make it more or less sim like and actually had infantry artillery and planes and giants combined arms battles or il-2 1946 (which is technically just a mod/ add on for the og il-2) which is a great aircraft sim both of these games have great mod support and those mods add more tank and planes for free
I hope this can help teach more people that speaking with your wallet, or hitting the offender in the wallet, works. So tired of people rolling over on being treated like shit by companies. Don't support them, and they'll cave.
Nope doesn't work idiot n never will. What will work is fear tactics, threats n violence to make anyone listen to ya. Money doesn't talk, fear, violence, n clout does
I was a member of the WTPU (emphasis on was, since I think the main discord that we were using kinda lost track of it's original purpose, which was discussing our demands and changes we wanted for the game). In the beginning we had actually done pretty well with organizing and actually getting our ideas and words onto a letter we had sent to Gaijin. I think that the big thing that happened was the server owner didn't really care about the movement (to the point where he'd mock and ridicule us during his twitch livestreams). When community moderators and leadership met up to discuss why he was the server owner in the first place, he went nuclear and completely destroyed the server, demoted all the moderators, and even cut off all the Russian community members (who were very helpful in adding more to the conversation and giving ideas). I left shortly after this had happened and haven't really heard anything since, but I am proud of the things we accomplished and how we actually salted the snail enough to listen to us.
Strike breaker tier bullshit went down. Blatant tactics for destroying syndicates from the inside. You could see the problem of their addiction day 1, and the suspicious masses disavowing effective measures, culminating in needless division and accepting a husk of undelivered promises as victory. The discordians are always the worst glowing pieces of shit.
This problem also exists in World Of Tanks Blitz. Playing with tanks on Tiers 9-10 is not worth even if you have Premium account (can grind in game) and don't have premium tanks (premium tanks have better credits multiplier). When you have Premium account (50% more credits from battles) and Tier 9-10 tank (Not premium tank), you must deal at least 1200 damage in battle (hit enemy at least 4 times). If you don't achieve this, you will end a battle with balance on minus. Playing battles and loosing credits instead of earning? Welcome to World Of Tanks :)
Very nice video. I was curious about the event since I've heard of it, but since I wasn't a War Thunder player, I didn't really know the context and such.

your voice is like an angel and i could listen to it forever, it is jsut so ccalm and nice for this format!
the editing ! my god!
Dude I fricking loved that vid, thank you for this god tier of a summary of the War Thunder situation.
I hope gaijin sticks to their promises this time, we will be looking over their shoulders to make sure
You will play no matter what.
@@kurtpena5462 not me for sure
@@shyn481there are still more than 80k players playing the game right now
Why would they? You fools are willing to settle for just about anything. When you have the enemy by the throat, you don't hesitate. You squeeze.
1000 Golden Eagles says they dont
the "when will you learn that your actions have consequences" had me on the floor
Man, you came a long way!
Started watching you when you posted World of Lols 12 and watched every video since. Loved your videos back in the day and they all made me laugh and enjoyed them. Like you did, I switched from WoT to WT. This video has an 11/10 quality such as the good old ones and I would love for you to post as frequently as back in the day. You should totally do more of these documentaries or anything about WT. Love you man!
we have internet historian at home
If you’re not making up with the anime pillows, I’m never playing that game again
Do more of these. I don't even plau WT but i was following this "drama". And your video is by far the best. Not saying other videos are bad, but most of it are informative. Yours is informative AND funny. Your style gives some colors and positivity.
@@HanSolo__ quite logic when europe is one of the biggest consumer markets in the world.
I wish Blizzard and Bethesda drones would push back against them too.
No wonder why it took me 4-5 minutes to get a match
honestly, given how much gaijin care about queue times ("BR decompression would make queue times worse"), it could've been pretty significant if it had been maintained for a few days
War thunder kids cant survive 5 minutes without epic plones and tamks
@@astronicss7891Saying it's "War thunder kids" is just plain ignorant. This happens with EVERY game community. The fact is that a vast majority never even find out that anything is happening.

Absolutely amazing vid. Keep up the good work man.
Thank you man, I need to watch something after IH went back to hibernation.
thank you for supporting us man, its so surreal seeing someone who I used to watch so long ago now doing the same things as me
Great video!
I used to watch your videos for the WOT meme videos that you made. Hope you keep making them like this. It was fun to watch and reminded me of the Internet Historian a little bit!!
This is some gourmet shit right here. Your WoT videos are always fire but this type of content is just as spicy, love it my guy.
glad your back, love the content
This was amazing! Now I hope there are more topics like this you can cover, because you rock dude!
Thanks! Recommendations welcome :)
AT LAST HE'S BACK 😭
This was great, I would love more of this type of content from you man, thanks keep it up!
we needed this kinda content keep it up mate you can even make them longer and longer
I've been subscribe to you for years dude, if I remember correctly your name was OneAndOnly16. Didn't release much back then but every piece of content was funny. Thank you for the memories.
I got a War Thunder ad when I clicked on the video.
3:19 - despite the world relations state, cool to see friendly players getting along and fighting together against corporations
Wow great work here. Very nice video that summed up the whole protest/boycott really good. Thank you for making this.
Wow, i actually stopped playing years ago because of this exact issue. Too grindy at higher tiers, insane repair costs especially when you keep getting killed at start of the map by KA50s etc. These changes might just be what pulls me back into the game again!
You can get back now the sl Grind at top tier is better
Bruh, great video. Loved the memes and super informative. Thank you very much.
I have never played War Thunder, and had no idea about these horrific acts of war perpotraded against us gamers. Great video, amazing edit, very entertaining!
Now there good as a warthunder player they were listening to us and they did at the end so they can understand us more
I'm so very glad this whole thing happened, i really do love this game but the economy is just suffocating. If they actually pull through with thw changes on the roadmap i will finally be able to enjoy the game again without having to worry about my virtual bank account after every match. Also, great recap of the whole situation, thanks.
Most benefits will go to premium players. For normal people changes will be minor. Grind still will be slow and hard.
The only thing that stops me from playing is knowing that i'll NEVER be able to try any good tanks or planes because of the grind. I'd LOVE to play it, i'd LOOOOVE to play in a spitfire, or a tiger, or a jet fighter, or an helicopter, but no, Gaijin said "devote your life to our game and maybe you'll be able to"
@@spyegle i'm sorry but if you can't f2p your way to tigers and spitfires then thats on you

Oh my god.. After 7 years of not seeing you.. I'm proud you are still active.
7 years! Damn.
Trying to be, I get little spurts of motivation as you can see!
But got a few videos lined up now :)!
This was about time, I left for good their toxic games a long time ago but happy to see that happening.
This company based his entire business model on people frustration, they really mastered it over the years, don't let them drag you into they scheme.
Thank you One for keeping us up to date and researching it all! :D Great job!
how do you not have 1 mililon subs yet? you are such a great youtuber, you explained it so good
Isn’t this the same dude that runs the “Not what you think” channel? I’d be surprised if it’s not, sounds similar and the quality is great.
I was checking your channel for about 8 years now and since I came back to warthunder, it is really interesting to see what is happening around the game. Your video is just perfectly explaining that, thank you! Hope to see more of you - You're an awesome creator.
Well made video, not only is the topic / content itself good, but the editing and storytelling is great.
Also in gaijin's defences, i datamined the body pillows Days before the economical changes, and it was probably a few weeks in the making before, so except if they have looooooooooooooong time planing, i doupt it was made as a "backup plan" if they fucked up eco changes.
It was a backup plan. They have been doing this for 7 years

Nicely done, my dude!
Great video and very informative. I don't really play War Thunder anymore but nice to catch up on it.
*2:20** I Wish Team Fortress 2 Community Can do this! But Need Power and Powerful Speech!*
review bombing TF2? i sure hope not
i belive the same needs to hapen to world of warships . its gotten insane the ammount of preditory ways war gaming uses in there . irl money for ships - irl money for grind assist - irl money for simple tasks like keeping modules that you had allready grinded for when changing ships - irl money for event bundles - irl money for litteraly everything - hell even on theyr "black friday event they were asking for 50-90 $ for ships / lootboxes - not to mention the endless credit drains built in so the players will have an extremely hard time building anything on theyr own - like MONTHS of investments for a sinble tech tree line if you dont pay money . flag costs . Hell once they even threatened a youtuber because they protested against theyr new shiny carriers by specificly focusing them down as fast as they possibly could
and as the icing on the cake
repair and rearm costs ontop of the cost of upgrading a ship / captain without using irl money is a freeking nightmare - barely 100 k credit reward in an average game with 30-100% booster plus premium booster - and just the repair cost for a tier 8 is around 80-90 k credits ..... its INSANE
I’ve never seen a better Game documentary than this in my life 🤝
This is a high level indeed. 6:09
Using the music from Red Alert during the "went to war" charge was an epic clapback (also, irony, since EA pretty much turned Westwood Studios games into piles of steaming doggy dung.)
More often than not, it's the company and not the devs who are making these calls.
Great video, but you forgot to mention how a few days after the economy nerf was announced someone from gaijin explicitly said that the economy was designed to be unsustainable to F2P players. Which is not exactly secret but it wasn't confirmed to this point, and helped a lot to start the review bombing.
Thank you for making internet historian type videos. they're never enough
Hello One, hope you are doing well. Thank you for this beautiful video on this shitstorm. 👌
I feel nostalgia when the video bgm starts playing
I just realized this is oneandonly 😭 been watching you since the very first World of lols video
I agree with you there! It's insane this became a normal thing!
This needs to happen for Crossout next. God, why can't we have the same communities in one place.
I feel like the warthunder players would be a lot more worried about the future of their game if they knew the history of XO
The dedication of the community is amazing I mean this is the first time a union was formed by players
You're really good at this type of video! I'd like to see you keep it up.
Thanks!
Open to suggestion for topics :)!
Glad to see you back OAO!
That "The more you fuck around, the more you're gonna find out" clip made me burst out into laughter. lol
And yeah, review bombing might piss off Steam and the game companies, but it is _the_ most and potentially only truly effective way of getting through to scuzzy companies.
Money doesn't talk, fear, violence, n clout does
i got 3 war thunder ads during this
I love the fact that you are taking inspiration on Internethistoritian's content, keep it up! I love it
Yo its you, funny WoT gamer. Nice to see you are still going
Amazing job on this video, great editing and good work on the script!
I was curious about the event since I've heard of it, but since I wasn't a War Thunder player, I didn't really know the context and such.
this video has the Internet historian vibe and im not complaining it's pretty good, keep up the excellent work!
I didn't know how much I needed a dramatic reading of a 'bad english' Steam review till I got to the end of this video.
