Dude - I'm a 60 year old black woman who LOVES rock - you're bringing back some cool memories!! Thanks!
Girl my 10 year sister got me into Rock by listening to late night Wolfman in California. She called me out on the porch at 1:00 am and said listen to this. I was 11 years old at the time. That night I became a die hard black girl rocker after that night.
You sound like a cool woman by The way i love this Song and My dad too love,s this Song and My dad was Born in 1968
Mommy, I'm a black 43 year old child who was born to be wild! I LOVE this song!
So do I. 60+ and rocker until the end! 🥰
Born to be Wild became the anthem for a generation that was defying the status quo, the 60's were a unique time in our history.
Magic Carpet Ride
“Born to Be Wild” came out in 1968.
@@karenalessandrini3573 Yassssss, I love the magic carpet ride!!
I LOVE turning my friends on to the twins...even my 81yr old Dad loves them!!
Magic Carpet Ride - Steppenwolf
❤🤘
Yes Magic Carpet Ride ~ PLEASE !
Canadian Legends
My favourite Steppenwolf song!
Yes!!!
Got to love this kids natural outgoing personality
and his natural wide open mind!
@@TheDony15 having an open mind so take kids far these days
Movie is called Easyriders
His confidence will take him far! Congrats to parents!
In this same strain, you should listen to Radar Love by Golden Earring.
Hi, that's a hit of the Golden Earring from the Netherlands where I'm from 😆
Radar Love!! When my son was 5 he told me it was "our song". It is still our song. He is now 40+. 💕💕
Love that one and twilight zone!
Yes... Golden. Earring. Radar Love
No doubt!
Makes me feel SOOO old... I love your youthful innocence and total embrace of all music genres.....Sending love XX
I absolutely love you guys. I'm a 60 year old grandmother and love watching you listen to all genres. Have you played any Chicago tunes yet? If not, check out Chicago, Saturday In The Park comes to mind, but there are many more to choose from.
Yes!
Yaaaassss, Chicago are amazing!!🤘☺️💜💜
I love watching you react! I can see the moment the music catches your spirit. I love it! Keep making more videos!
They are awesome 👏🏼
Exactly! I can always see that 'moment' with both guys! They're in for the long run...rest of the song! Hooked! I love these guys! 65 year old here....
The video is from the iconic movie “Easy Rider”....
Thank you 😁🙄🤣
Another great song on that soundtrack was "The Weight" by The Band. I thought "Aimee" by the Pure Prairie League was in it too but I don't see it on the soundtrack list.
@@alanfriesen9837 Wikipedia says Amie was released in 1975. Easy Rider came out in 1969.
@@cshubs I'm sure you're right. My memory is a dicey thing. I could've sworn that the first time I heard that song was when I watched the movie though.
Thank you that was the movie I trying to remember.
I love how gave a shout out to the bikers. Ur mom did a great job lots of love 2 u. Love watching u
70 YR OLD FAN OF YOU
I'm 63and love these twins.
I’m nearly 49 and they are adorable kids
I'm 60 and love this, everything about it.
61and adore these young men! A big fan.
Soon to be 61 fan
I grew up to this song. It was played at my big brother’s funeral. He lived this music. Glad to see a young guy enjoying it!
This song came from the band's 1968 debut album, just called "Steppenwolf." My older brother had the record, which he played constantly. We shared a bedroom wall so I heard this song, and the others on the album a lot. Another great rock band. I'm glad you liked the song!
Dude, you have such a rock'n'roll heart! Love to see you rock out...Probably already know from a classic sixties hippie movie Easy Rider with Peter
Fonda. Rock on dude!
I believe they ran credits in the beginning of' Easy Rider' because of the movie's ending.
Now I really want your to hear "Magic Carpet Ride."
"Heavy metal thunder..." it's from the beginning of the movie Easy Rider. It's actually the second song in the movie. The song that preceded it in the movie was The Pusher (the two bikers were making a drug deal). He doesn't play either of the leads but this movie made Jack Nicholson a star
Two great songs by Steppenwolf. I love the putting money in their tanks to the pusher.
that was THE rebel song and movie for a whole generation...
@@seelenwinter6662 It was probably the first time that generation was represented accurately in a movie.
@@robertsaul234 That would be Alice's Restaurant 1969
Yes, Jack Nicholson was nominated for an Academy Award for best supporting actor.
Back in the day they would often put more credits at the start of the movie.
I think a lot of that was built into union contracts.
Credits were always at the beginning
Fun fact, George Lucas was fined for not putting the credits in the beginning of Star Wars and because of that the directors guild wouldn’t let Steven Spielberg direct Empire Strikes Back.
Seen them in concert several years ago. Magic Carpet Ride is another bangin tune.
It was used in this movie. "Easy Rider" Great film too!
Omg. This is one of the best rock songs ever. 🔥🎸🥁
Ha! I was just telling a friend the other day about these reaction videos. He’s never heard of them. Then he asked if anyone listened to Steppenwolfe bc he used to manage the band. Now I have to send him this! Lol. Great song, eh! Btw, I’m digging your new backdrop.
Who was this manager?
Les Schoenberger He managed Steppenwolfe in their early days and has known them over the years. Name is Julian. That’s all you’re getting from me.
@@sfbayareagirl Steppenwolf was managed in the "early days" by Burt Jacobs who was part of Reb Foster Associates from the Wolf's inception in 1968 until their breakup 2/14/1972, so unless this guy was involved somehow with them I would have to question his story?
Les Schoenberger I’ll have to ask my friend if he was part of that group. I have no reason to doubt him, he’s not the type to make up a random, verifiable fact like that. He’s now near 80, so I’d say his age at the time would be valid. Idk, I’ll ask next time I chat w him. Thx for the info. Btw, if I somehow find out it’s bs, I have no problem saying so.
@@sfbayareagirl Please do, I'd be interested to hear the story. Yes, age wise he is right there, but I never heard any mention of him and even checked John Kay's book where he states it was Reb Foster who was the DJ, Bill Utley who was in touch with the record companies and Burt Jacobs who was the actual manager. Be interesting to hear how this plays out!
It’s the beginning of the movie “Easy Rider”
It was also partially used in the great movie "Fandango".
@@Chatta-Ortega the opening scene of Fandango was with Elton John:)
@@modder1975
Yes... Saturday's Alright for Fighting....Born to be Wild was also used for a Truman Sparks scene as well.
@@Chatta-Ortega Yes. True.
This song was recorded and released as part of an album by Steppenwolf. A couple of years later, it was chosen to be the theme song for a movie about a cross country motorcycle trip called "Easy Rider." The video is the credits from the movie. As a result of the movie, the song became a biker anthem.
Steppenwolf/Magic Carpet Ride
John Andrews YES PLEASE DO THAT SONG TOO!!
Fun Fact: The music genre term 'Heavy Metal' is said to come from this songs lyrics. "Heavy metal thunder"
My father was still riding his motorcycle at 80.
Live to Ride,Ride to Live.
Mine quit riding about 83 or 4. ME? I am 62. Road King.
1:14 "It's too easy to kill yourself on them things -- facts!" LOL He's right. Love 'em, but it's suicide with all the crazy cars on the road.
Not on a Harley..lol
@JS - I love bikes, especially a Harley. Sadly being on a Harley did not save my niece when she and her husband were hit head on by a truck. The roads are not safe for motorcycles anymore. Please be careful.
kanekila Especially here in Florida
My 29 year old cousin was killed on his motorcycle - hit by a drunk driver. Don’t ride one. It’s a death trap.
Lost a good friend in a motorcycle accident.
65 year old that grew up on this music. I love watching your reactions, it’s like hearing them for the first time back in the late 60’sand into the 70’s. You are bringing a lot of good feelings to my generation! Keep it up! 🙌
Toni Basil's in this movie she had one of the greatest one hit wonders of the 80s the song was called Mickey
Hardly a great song...it's a piece of pop garbage.
Catchy tune... harmless
She didn't even write the song all she did was choreograph the video there was two videos one was with cheerleaders from Las Vegas university and the other one was with a band jumping around
Toni Basil is 76 years old today -- look at her credits. You'd be amazed at what she has contributed to. Forget the song, Mickey. That was a novelty song that doesn't even figure into the vast accomplishments/choreography Toni has achieved in her career. If you see the 1964 Elvis Presley movie Viva Las Vegas when he's singing "What'd I Say," it's Toni in the red dress shaking her booty that Elvis refers to. She coordinated many of the dance routines in many big hit movies. Go ahead, read her credits - it's a great laugh. She is amazing.
Toni Basil, inspirational dancer, choreographer, all-round 🌟
That video is a scene from the iconic movie called Easy Rider. I'm pretty sure that was the beginning of the movie. Great movie. Good times.
It was the beginning of the movie, Easy Rider, which at the time was a rebel type movie. Very controversial at the time.
I saw it recently and it still blows ones mind. 👍
No fuckn kidding. Thats awesome
Your youthfulness is exciting. I’m 60 years old. And I love it.
I remember listening to this song as a young girl, had an older sister. Always makes me smile. Oh the memories of youth. Love watching you, you never disappoint!!
Steppenwolf - Renegade, Magic Carpet Ride, Snowblind Friend, Screaming Night Hog, Monster/Suicide/America
Jon-David Taylor, you are right! All great songs by Steppenwolf.
Thumbs up all of the above, then some
This kid is gonna have a good life! Open minded and happy spirit. The type of kid you want to show him around other cultures and environments. Life is about exploring and being with fun & joyful people! He will attract good people in his life because of his personality! Him and his brother are both humble and have good decent characters! Wish you both best of luck!
The song was written about the feeling of freedom the songwriter had with his car... This movie, "Easy Rider" is what made it a "motorcycle song"...
63 year old here just found your channel- love it!!
Bikes are just machines. The rider is the dangerous part! This movie and song inspired me to ride bikes. Who wouldnt want to get on a bike with their best buddy and just fuck off? No destination in mind, just enjoy the ride and enjoy being alive!!
Let’s ride !😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Child I cut my teeth on a motorcycle! This song was lit then too ! Rode along side my dad ! lil 110 lb blonde girl rocking a Harley !
By now you know that was the opening credits to the movie Easy Rider, from back when credits ran at the start of the movie. Great song!
I love this kid and his genuine appreciation!
The song was used as the opening and closing song for the movie "Easy Rider." This was 1968 or 69. Another Steppenwolf song, "Pusherman," was also used in the movie soundtrack. So the lead singer is John Kay who actually didn't and doesn't ride motorcycles or drive. Born in post-WW2 Germany, he was born with a rare eye disorder that causes total color blindness, and he has always been legally blind. He only sees black, white, and grey. He emigrated to Canada at age 14, and 5 years later to the U.S. He always wore sunglasses because his eyes could not tolerate light.
I saw Steppenwolf in concert on their 50th anniversary tour. They still rock
I saw John Kay open for the Guess Who.
Just gets you grooving immediately. Awesome music from my day. Thanks for enjoying!
Its was on a soundtrack for the film easy rider starring jack Nicholson, Peter Fonda and dennis hopper
Dahoss never knew that. I have to watch it again to see Toni Basil.
The weight was a good song also. Great video. Weather song by the dead or the band
Love it! Movies used to show some of the credits at the beginning, with several minutes of "establishing" shots 😎
Lads, stumbled across you today, been watching for 11 hours now. Good work.
What a good feeling to hear this Born to be wild. This was an ode to freedom.
Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper from "Easy Rider" I'm 59 and have Grandchildren just a couple of years younger than you. Our Music was pretty good, eh?
Your reactions to these classics puts a smile on ma face, stay up lil homie.
Your personality is infectious. Thank you for bringing some much needed levity in these crazy times. 😘
One of my all time favorite songs!
Iowa girl here Born to Be Wild was my favorite and is my favorite song We jammed out in the car full blast on the radio fun times fun times more Steppenwolf
one of my all-time favorite songs from Steppenwolf is Magic Carpet Ride
Why don't you come with me little girl, on a magic carpet ride. (Damn, that sounds so awkward now!)
The amount of times I've gotten bugs in my teeth singing this song on the top of my lungs on the back of my man's bike..
The video you see is from the movie “Easy Rider” with Peter Fonda, Jack Nicholson and Dennis Hopper. The band is Canadian/American. They originally started in Canada as “The Sparrows”. They reorganized in LA, adding two American guitarists and changed their name to “Steppenwolf “. Their lead singer John Kay was born in Germany and emigrated to Canada with his mother when he was eleven.
Check out “The Pusher” from them.......
I played The Pusher in my 6th grade class. Fortunately, my teacher didn't send me home.
And while you are listening, smoke a joint!!
This is a supreme classic banger for sure! REQUEST TO REACT to Billy Idol - Rebel Yell
White Wedding!!!
This is actually at the beginning of the movie "Easy Rider". Films used to run all the credits at the beginning instead of the end, and the advertisements for upcoming movies were played at the end of the movie, hence why they're called "trailers", because they "trail" after the movie. as the decades wore on, the credits and trailers gradually shifted and swapped places, so now trailers are before a movie, and credits are after it.
I’m a 65 year old fan of yours! I saw Steppenwolf in concert when I was in high school!
Magic Carpet Ride is the best driving in a car at night song of all time.
Steppenwolf took the name after the book Steppenwolf by Herman Hesse. Name means lone wolf. Group hails from Toronto, Canada, where I saw them perform live! Fantastic concert!
That Hammond B3 played through Leslies is one of the greatest rock sounds ever.
The song was on the soundtrack for Easy Rider, a film starring Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda. That’s the movie you’re seeing!
IMHO. This is the best pairing of a song to a film of all time. It fits the spirit of the film perfectly.
This song was used in the movie Easy Rider. Steppenwolf recorded this song but you won’t see them here. You’d have to look up the band & look for a stage performance. Videos weren’t made by the artists for their songs back then, only vinyl records. As far as hitchhiking on a bike, they sure did in the 60s & 70’s, anything with wheels to get you where you wanted to go as long as you were game.
Magic Carpet ride! Love the channel 😁❤️
Thus song was in the movie EASY RIDER. from the early 70’s
Don't Step on the Grass Sam is a great song, underplayed too.
One of my favorites...
The song came first, by Steppenwolf, and because the song spoke to freedom and rebellion it was featured later on in the movie 'Easy Rider', which is a movie about freedom and rebellion, and bikers.
Born To Be Wild was already a hit in 1968 but used to open the iconic film 1969 Easy Rider - which made it become an even bigger hit
Aw man you gotta do Magic Carpet Ride by the same band!
The movie was Easy Rider. Steppenwolf was the band and Born to be Wild was part of the sound track however this song was a huge hit on the radio as well.
Priceless reaction
They're actually playing the song in the OPENING of the film...back in the day, that's when the credits rolled!
This was the opening song for the movie "Easy Rider" - big late '60s counterculture movie about two guys riding motorcycles from California across the country. Became the anthem for a lot of bikers afterward.
Easy Rider--what a movie! Great music, Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper--wow!
This was the opening! And this song went out to all people!
I get so much joy out of the joy you get from watching videos. 😂👍🏽
it was a pop song set the famous Easy Rider movie. It made Jack Nicholson a star. Steppenwolf was a Canadian based rock band
Older movies put most of the credits at the beginning of the film.
this was a song (i think the intro) for the movie 'easy rider'. i think it was the first time 'heavy metal thunder' was used, and that's where the term 'heavy metal' comes from for music. this was a late '60's movie, and this song was the 'bikers' anthem' for the '70's (and really anthem for just the '70's in general). i seem to recall my older brother having a poster from the movie on the wall in his bedroom somewhere around that time.
This is from the 1969 movie 'Easy Rider'. This song has a line: 'I like smoke and lighting. Heavy metal thunder', this is the first band to ever say that phrase 'heavy metal' before metal existed And because of it's use in this movie it would stick heavy metal with motorcycle culture for ever after.
EDIT: This movie one of the best movies for me.
OMG ... iconic song! Love it!
Born to be Wild!! My fav. Song of all time !!!😎😍
I can easily see Tim rocking out at the Fillmore! 🤩
It's from the 1969 film 'Easy Rider'. True fact, the name for the genre 'Heavy Metal comes from the lyric in this song 'heavy metal thunder'.
This is a big banger! Fantastic oldie...I never wanna die!
I'm super proud to say I saw them on my 18th birthday in 1987 at a small venue. I stilllll have the shirt.
Foghat "Slow Ride"
Hoodie & the Blowfish ( Darius Ruckers) "Hold My Hand"
SLOW RIDE
Yes, definitely SLOW RIDE! They will love that one.
Oh please some "Foghat"!!!!!!
A true Rock anthem!! This song never gets old!
Born To Be Wild (1968) is said to be world's first heavy metal song and it was the theme for road movie Easy Rider (1969).
In years past, the "major" credits were listed at the beginning of most TV and movie productions. The "minor" ones might be listed at the end. That has changed throughout the years.
Stephanwolf is a band this song was used as theme song for movie
Yes! Magic Carpet and Radar Love will get you through!
It gives you a whole new way to look at the day!
Yep! Easy Rider movie played Steppenwolf at the end. You can find the group on UA-cam.
Great reaction with the drumming Tim! 👏🏼🥁😍
this band was originally the sparrow out of Vancouver BC Canada who moved to LA changed the name to Steppenwolf and making hit songs. the term heavy metal springs from the lyrics heavy meta thunder adding the term to thje music lexicon
You asked is this from a movie? Apparently yes. Easy Rider. You don't miss anything, twin. Bravo.
