He cried 😢He & Chris Cornell were best friends. Mike said Chester couldn’t get through the song at all back stage, he was so devastated. He took his life on what would’ve been Chris’s birthday, the exact way Chris did it. Tragic! R.I.P Chris & Chester, you are missed 😢

Chester's scream towards the end of the song always gets me when watching this version.... I wish the original song had that scream in it. so fucking emotional

I think what gets you emotional watching this is you could feel him getting emotional, in his voice and his face, and just feel the immense sadness in the moment 😢
Apparently he found out about Chris taking his own life the same day he sang this song. Also, depending on your age, if you lost someone precious to you, you can't help but think of them when you hear this song. Just so many emotions and it's a roller coaster all the way to the end. And yes, this raw scream made this song 10000x more real. So SAD! 😢

So sad to think that only 2 months after this performance, with the message of this song, that Chester committed suicide. We will miss him forever. He was one of the greatest human beings to ever live on our planet. Love you Chester.

His screams allways sounded angry… but in this performance, it just sounded sad and full of pain…
I missed seeing Linkin Park live as i had to attend a funeral. I don't regret that, but thought at the time "oh well I'll catch them next time they perform here", and then of course I missed my chance of that ever happening. If that's not a wake up call to do things now because you may not get a chance later, i dont know what is.

It's important to change the language on suicide. The more acceptable way to say it is "died by suicide" instead of "committed suicide."
No, it's committed suicide. Suicide is an act that is committed by the person, so that's the correct phrase.
@@OAlexable agree with you, we can't be changing language to remove the hurt or the emotion that comes from the act. Like the song says "you're angry and you should be, it's not fair". Words have meaning for a reason and we can't just change the meaning to accomodate others feelings.
Who says? You? No it's not any more or less acceptable just because randos on the Internet say it is. You don't get to just replace or change the meaning of words like that. Not gonna happen.
@@gmualum08 I'm not the only "rando" who says this. Mike Shinoda aka Chester's own bandmate has criticized publications for saying committed suicide. Chester's wife has criticized the same especially after they repeated the same language when Avicii died. This is a popular sentiment.
