100 MPH NOT KPH
I've been driving mine daily in MA since 2014 when I bought it and I just hit 154,000 miles. I've done the actuators, brakes and a couple wheel bearings and wheel speed sensors but that's it aside from regular oil changes, Diff and DCT fluid. For a big scary rod bearing throwing V8 I've been extremely happy with how little this car has needed over the years and I still daily it every day, every season.
Thx bro good to know. Looking to get a e90 and it’s probably going to have around 100-125k miles
@@lukeamanquah1885 I wouldn’t buy that imo
@@candycouldntbesosweet 😂😂
True that. Peoplr always say not to get one cause of the rod bearings, but that only happens due to people not letting it warm up properly. My dad's 2008 E92 M3 is still going to this day, and has only needed minor fixes and regular maintainence and that's all. Drives like a dream at 220k km
@@l04d83 not true, bearings will always fail due to the insanely tiny clearance, uprated bearings actually have greater clearance. Warming up helps but delays the inevitable.
I really want you to succeed in UA-cam and in life. I follow almost every "BMW" and "PORSCHE" channels, and somehow i feel like you are the most genuine one. You gave up everything and focused on something that you love. Money is tool, real happiness is freedom. I hope one day i can quit my job and do what i love.
Damn dude! Thank you!

So well said man

It’s the law.
I was cruising and saw an aventador a few lanes ahead of me, sure enough rolled my windows down to hear this thing take off... sheesh.
Now that's a real car fan
I don’t think I ever had the windows rolled up in mine
Absolutely. I love the engine but I also like the Inline 6 a bit more. V8 will ultimately be in the garage long-term.
Interesting you prefer the inline 6. Why? If you don’t mind.

Bro a e92 m3 is literally a dream car of mine I’ll have it one day
Definitely an attainable dream!
they are under $30K now.
@Shark 😅 right
@Shark I'm 21 I just bought one for 23k
Same man one day😃
Loved my '09 E92. Was a fun car and a great engine! Not exceptionally fast by today's standards but definitely a great ride.
This is my favourite M car ever! That V8 is so unique. Its racy and burbly. I always let my MK6 GTI get to temperature before driving it hard. Its a basic rule I believe every carnut should follow, whether you drive a GTI or a Ford GT.
Was in the market for an e90 m3 and decided to grab an e46 m3 and your videos always remind me why I wanted that V8. Yet, I can’t imagine parting with the e46. Great video as always!
You've become my favorite car channel to watch now. So many banger cars you've been showcasing lately and your filming setup and audio is just perfect.
Can’t thank you enough for this
We have owned a 328i E92 3.0L sport package now for almost 10 years and the maintenance has been the only real issue. We have had a good experience with this car. 200,000 and counting. Yes some parts have been replaced by us. Vanos silnodes, temperature senser, mickey mouse hose connections that had broken because of the plastic design. A battery but nothing major as of yet. The experience has been great and reliability a must. This is our opinion about this car, all and all a good strong car..!
E90 M3 is 100% in my dream garage. I loved my E90 328 and My E36 325 when I had em.
I love my E39 540i that I’m dailying currently.. it made me fall in love with BMW V8s, but man, that E90 would be a hell of a weekend car to add to the stable.
I have seen like 2 other videos of you and just now on this one, I realize it is you. I like the way you talk and drive, keep the video entertain and not boring at all. Cool car
Just bought one after selling my F80, in alpine white...Definitely keeping it as long as 93/E85 exists in this world..
More power to you man. I hope I can get one while 93/E85 still exists myself!
Good advertisement timing. How did you know I got a check engine light this morning😂
If you have a BMW theres a good chance I look like a psychic every time I mention it lol
@@TedwardDrives its odd how that is a huge thing for bmws overseas but in Germany they are known for being very reliable, that check engine light meme seems to not exist over here for some reason 😂
@@odinxrk1424 I think it depends on where the car is assembled honestly...

In my opinion, still the best bmw interior design right here!
I bought my 2011, E90 M3 first half of 2016, today, 30 000 km later it still feels just as special as day 1, the engine and the steering is some of BMW best work in my book. It Will remain in my custody, probably as long as i live.

I’ve had 2 e92 m3’s and loved them both. One was a manual, the other a DCT and must say I preferred the manual with a short shifter and m5 carbon knob. I didn’t find the fuel economy to be that bad compared to other things I’ve had such as a highly tuned focus rs/350z/rx8. I averaged 21mpg (uk) mixed driving with the odd blast! I fitted test pipes and planned on a tune but sold it before I got round to it, wish I never!
Is the M3 more economical than the RX-8?
@@timurgianti8385 yeah I'd say so but only slightly. Maybe 1-2mpg better round town but it's definitely better on the motorway.
@@12jamiegavin12 Wow, that's surprising. I'd thought a 1.3 would be less thirsty than a 4.0 V8 (Even though it's a rotary)

a few wks ago I saw an e46 at Lowes that caught fire an hr before I got there. Front tires exploded. Total mess. Thankfully dude was inside the store

For your brake pad sensors just buy a set then curl it up and zip tie them behind the liner. I did it on mine and haven’t had to touch them since.

@@TedwardDrives That' looks awesome mate! Waiting for winter videos!
Another awesome video. I was close to buying one but didn't. It wasn't the rod bearings or TB actuators that deterred me. Silly as it sounds, it was the high seats that made me feel like I was sitting on a toilet bowl.

12:04: Is that a 458......... rolls down the window for sound verification...... Roger that. Drive on, car Guru. LOL. Wonderful review of the M3. Thanks
For some reason, I just realized that this car is my dream car. I had a black e92 with your wheels hot wheels car. I got rid of it a year ago but whatever... I played nfs payback recently and this is the only car I use. I got one in gta as well. And for some reason this car in my eyes does not need any aftermarket visual modifications. This car like you said, is very practical too.
The e92 has always been one of if not my favorite bmws ever made but I’ve been thinking about getting a used m4 instead. Although after watching this video im sold on the e92 can’t wait to get my hands on one in June !
How's your E92 going?
Nice Tom...winter is fine...tires and skill..and knowing your own limits
little trick to fixing your brake pad wear sensor. cut the sensor head off and connect the 2 exposed wires. The way the sensor works is as the head of the sensor wears away, the connection of the connected wired behind the head slowly degrades which tells your car how long before the next service is. If you just cut away or take off the sensor then the car will think you have no brakes left as the sensor is completely worn out. Trick it by just twisting the 2 wires together, put a bit of electrical tape over them and zip tie them somewhere in the wheel well. Never worry about brake pad wear sensors again :)
If you’ve cut the brake pad wear sensors, just twist the wires together and it’ll close the circuit and not show the warning.
I got 33 mpg in my 17' SS going to michigan. Good stuff.
such a clean interior
if you have no problem right off the start spending $6k on maintenance it is the right time. they don't go for $16k in my state. start at mid $20k. i was going to get one a year ago but it was to much for me for a weekender. went with a 135i for $16K with 55k miles. hydraulic steering and 300 ponies was enough to make me happy. new brakes, coil overs, and all the maintenance. spent $6k plus over the course of last year getting it perfect. all independent shops at great prices. i did some of the easy work. spark plugs and ignition coils. now i need to buy some Michelins. another $1k. i still want a 08ish M3 one day or a e46. but then again 08ish Caymans are nice too.
Tedward needs more subs his channel is amazing
hes at 102k now
the set, the colours and the camera angle are just amazing! without mentioning the car haha :D
Oem exhaust mod is a must. Also a manual. I miss mine everyday
I've got an e93 m3 (convertible) and I love it. Sounds amazing and makes me laugh. Dct every time.
Sold mine in 18 weeks , stock the sound is dull as dishwater and the DCT is super capable but manes it such a numb acceleration experience
Not for me, too heavy and smooth
@@2702simmo Yeah, well it's supposed to be a premium German performance coupe, not an all-out, raw track machine like a TVR or a Lotus would be, hence it will feel a bit heavy opposed to those. As for sound, that's an anecdote. I've been near E92 M3s and even drove two of them and the sound + driving experience is magical, maybe you didn't get in on driving it even harder, I don't know. No doubt at 3,600 lbs, you would think it would be quite a chunker, but it felt half its weight and was tossable. In my honest opinion, the E92 M3 was and still is very direct, soulful, and communicative unlike the BMWs today, which are numb and soft.
@@rahulmandala4930 I understand what it’s supposed to be. I came out of an e46 M3 to it which did feel lighter, rawer and more nimble. The newer E92 M3 was just not as thrilling to drive as the e46 nor the Porsche 996 I replaced it with
The sound is very dull on them as standard which is why Modstock does so well doing the back box mod on them that gets some life out of it
@@2702simmo Well, in fairness, you did drive both an E46 M3 or 996 first, which sort of got in your way of experiencing the E92 M3. Like I said, sure it may be quite a bit heavy in contrast to those cars, but it still feels properly old school BMW.
first bit of info about the car: "you're gonna want to buy a code reader"...i actually lol'd
Friend has one and has hated and loved it more than anything
It’s a tragic relationship. Lots of push and pull at your heart 😆
The red BRAKE light is clearable. its not permanent. I also removed the brake sensors and on e92, its something you can youtube search and remove - its just a reminder to do your brake pads.
Beautiful soundtrack, great cars if you get a goodie, if not can be so very disappointing and expensive, great video, thanks for this advice.
I personally still like my e46 inline 6 naturally aspirated engine
3:03 he's right, we do charge as hefty price to do S65 bearings...
Awesome vid! Just two things to note:
- F8X is much stiffer than the E9X (almost 2x)
- IMO ZCP is just as useless on the F8X platform, especially if you do suspension mods or tuning. Primary power improvements in the F8X platform over time are due to global iStep (firmware) updates affecting power delivery and shifting of all models.
F8x have different diff ratios actually !
Soon it will be a dream car among the legends... Reving 8200 engine, only v8 in m3 history, last m3 coupe, time resiting design... Just wonderful, I also bought on as yours with palladium silver seats, but I chosen the e93 chassis to enjoy the sound a bit more... 😅😉.
* The i in ITB stands for individual, NOT independent. The throttle bodies are not suspension components, they are rigidly-mounted and linked-together but separate individual throttles.
I love my E92 M3 but I don't daily drive it. I keep it as my fun car so I can appreciate it every time I jump in :).

All those Honda Accords in the parking lot at works starting to look reallllly goood. I lol’ed hard!
I bought my e92 m3 comp on 100k, I’m now just below 130k miles, couldn’t be happier. Been serviced properly and so far very happy and haven’t had a single issue. I’m a Porsche race mechanic and I work on my own cars so I did my rod bearings myself
How expensive was it to do it all yourself? I’m a mechanic at Mercedes and work on my own cars too so don’t have to pay for labour. I’m thinking of getting an e90 m3 saloon DCT but am a bit on the fence about how much the parts are going to cost.

Great video!!! Thanks for the input 👍🏽
For the Brake light you can put a wire that joints the + and - from sensor connector and the light will go away
I jumped from an E90 325i to M2 Competition. Still the steering feel was something I miss about the E90. Amazingly M2 Comp is doing similar fuel economy to 325.
Bro, manual for life. You were wrong to prefer the automatic based on feelings. 1. Clutch+throttle is superior to automatic in mitigating slides, whether intended or not. A manual+RWD gives more control than any auto+RWD in low-traction conditions. 2. Automatics just go fast, that's all they can do. Buy an automatic if that's what you need. 3. Any BMW manual transmission will be easier, cheaper to repair, while also being far more mechanically reliable. Automatics are fundamentally and definitively more complex and have quantity more points of failure than any manual anywhere. CVTs are a really really good reason to buy a manual. I don't mean to diminish your 'feelings' and how that leans your preferences and proclivities. I just mean to check those feelings in favor of an objective, not feelings-based argument for manuals for life. And just to include my credentials, I have a Class A license and driven many trucks+trailers both auto and manual, some with as many as 48 tires. I've driven every terrain, in an enormous myriad of vehicles across over 2 million documents miles. I also operate heavy construction equipment, bulldozers have clutches manuals, graders have a clutched manual, plus all kinds of tractors. I also lived in Germany for 5 years and had quite a lot of experience in the all-new for 2006 3-series, diesels, petrol, and my boss got a new 2009 M3 that year, drove him home from the bar in it many times. Manual. Manuals for life dude. They're mechanically, reliably, functionally, fundamentally superior to modern (post-2000) automatic transmissions. Say no to automatics, unless you're chasing 10ths. Every other use of a fast car is better with a manual. It's not really driving if your only control over the transmission is throttle on the engine and brakes on the wheels.
Awesome vid! Great information!
Still scary, you summed it up perfectly in your intro. Great driving experience but not necessarily "special" .
This was very helpful because the E92 is on my radar but I needed the pros/cons to make an informed decision.
Drive one first I personally didn’t like it after coming out of an e46 M3 felt too heavy abs numb back in an old 911
They’re a great car but not fun enough for a fun car for me
Pro: S65 Engine, the reason you buy it. Once you pass 4k rpm in sport it's just the most beautiful engine sound (bonus points if you have the top down)! Sounds good stock, even better with a Remus cat back. Driver connected: hydraulic steering makes you truly feel connected to the car (but it is a little heavy). Just modern enough to be comfortable, classic enough to be special. You can run Bluetooth with music going and navigation, but it is not overly complicated with too many modern computer systems. Also, it has launch control!
Cons: Price of entry, IDK what anyone says 30k-40k is a lot of freaking money for a car (though you get a lot for your money). 70k+, if you want a lime rock edition. Maintenance is more since it is a performance car (no kidding, it's not a Toyota). The upshifts do lag ever so slightly even in M sport mode with trac off. Give it a gooooood 5 min to warm up! 60 weight oil takes a little bit to warm up and it helps your rod bearings. Trunk latch and glove box electrical opening mechanisms will fail. You can fix or manual with the key/switch by driver left foot well. Gas mileage sucks, 18 on a very good day in "comfort" really keeping the foot out of it. I fill it at least twice a week.
Overall this is a seriously special car that can do pretty much everything. I bought an E93 Black over two-tone fox red. Car has a beautiful V8, 414 hp, hardtop convertible, driver focused interior. I've been an Audi/Porsche guy my whole life but this car singlehandedly turned me to BMW. Overall wouldn't trade it for anything. Best of luck on your search!
@@reddragoncollectables6836 thanks for the perspective my man!
I love this Bmw m3. I have a BMW 335xi e90 performance edition with a DCT from 2011. I think that v8 is a fantastic engine but i like more the 3.0l i6 from BMW. Love the videos.
8:40 This is so true that I wanna cry.
you can cut the brake pad sensors and solder the wires together, will get rid of the brake sensor warnings
Hello from 02368. Great video. Keep up the good work.
Red Line is 8,400 (marker is at 8,250 due to the V10 red line at 8,250, and it's the same instrument).
If you tune it etc. you can't really complain about check engine lights ...
Non-issue:
65k miles - no issues with bearings (but I never cold revved it, always used proper oil, always warmed it up before going full out, not driven in winter weather)
My seating position seems fine (seat adjustments?) - also have a 911 Turbo S (which is lower) ... perhaps I need to check again :)
Squeaks, rattles and buzz ... NOTHING!
Issues:
Coolant expander tank started to leak (the seams failed on the plastic weld).
Servo hose clips ... said good-bye after a drift session (most likely pressure due to constant max steering and back-forth
Soft-plastic around steering wheel buttons ... love the feel, hate the falling off
Micro switches on the paddle shifters (assuming), don't change gears (up or down) ...bit nervous messing with it due to air-bag ($1,500 estimate to repair)
ESC button(s) ... old-back-clip broke so button keep falling off ($1,500 repair estimate - $150 replacement part)
