With so many " new, trendy" house plants it is so nice to see some of the old stand bys being talked about. I love the standard house plants not just because the are cheaper, but because the are beautiful and being the have been around a while you know the care is not something you have to jump through hoops to achieve.. 😆😆😆
Yesss i love seeing Tradescantia getting more attenion, the dwarf varieties of the plant like "Pink Panther" make absolutely gorgeous little hanging baskets.
Thank you for the pointers - I've never cared much for Peperomia, but all of a sudden, I ADORE them (ugh, one more plant genus to "collect".) I've usually had pretty bad luck with them, so I'm paying close attention. Also, want to add, your plant shelves are really arranged beautifully. Behind you in this video, even the more "chaotic" shelves in your bedroom, are just so put together. They all look so great!
It's amazing to see how much more comfortable you are in front of the camera now compared to two years ago. Now it really feels like a chat with a friend. You seem to have a lovely personality it's nice to see more of it in your videos.
Right?! I don't even watch any other plant channels anymore. Nick is 💯 he's really come into his own! I have a sneaky suspicion that he has a hilarious sense of humor too.
I always enjoy your videos thanks to your unboxing of Steve’s Leaves I found my Brown Spiderwort it has to be one of my favorite plants I bought mine in 1977 had it for 42 years ever since I bought it I looked for it at my local nursery I don’t know why it’s not more popular I found the phone number for Steve’s Leaves I bought two thank you so much I had that plant longer than any other plant I have ever owned I’m over the moon 🌙
I love tradescantia. I scoop up every tradescantia I find that is a variety I don't already own. I think that they are super beginner friendly and they grow so quickly that you get a lot of gratification, which has helped me get further into my plant keeping hobby.
Hey..... I just got gifted with the zebrina. Now I have 6 different containers full.... about to gift to friends. I want about 5 different ones for sure as I love this plant
Gesneriads are such an overlooked houseplant group, so I appreciate the spotlight on them. If you ever try Episcias again, try bottom watering them with lukewarm water. Mine die if I give them cold tap water even once. Drama queens.... 😅
I got bit by the peperomia bug from watching your videos! No complaints they’re amazing plants! I just got a peperomia Incana the other day and it’s such a cool plant. My gf says it looks mid century modern!
I’ve given up on the watermelon peperomia. They drop their leaves right away when I bring them into my home and are dead within a month. I follow their care requirements to the letter with no success.
Definitely in general purple/darker coloured foliage is used as like "sunscreen" for plants, so when they have not enough light, they'll be on the lighter greener side.
not you shimmying 😂😂☺️☺️☺️ i've noticed that as my cebu blu has aged, the color has gotten more mellow. at first it didn't have the blue hue...it was more bright green. but it's been changing
Beautiful video Nick, I really love peperomia and sometimes I do struggle with them but I am getting better, I have the Cebu Blue Pothos, I did get mine at Walmart over two years ago and it was so full and beautiful and I have taken many cuttings and shared them with some of my plant friends. It was under 20.00 and is in a hanging 8 inch pot. I also love Hoya and that Cissus Rotundifolia, I have two of those. Loved this video and you look happy in your new place and with all of the houseplants that you have. I hope you have a great weekend, sending love and hugs, bye for now. 🤣😊💜
I have a euphorbia geroldii from Steve’s Leaves. Mine is still small. I love the beautiful red two petal flowers. It blooms all the time with good light. The plant is such a nice balance of leaves, woody stems and flowers. Its different from my other plants.
Hi Nick...regarding the Nautilocalyx...yes, I am pretty certain the light difference causes the change in hue. Thanks for highlighting gesneriads!! Bob Clark in Seattle...the Gesneriad Society membership secretary! 😄
Kinda weird how Tradescantia zebrina seems to be the most common Tradescantia, but in my home it's the most difficult. Tradescantia sillamontana has been a favorite to grow, quite succulent and very soft. Never really complains if you forget to water it, and it grows not as quickly as other varieties so I don't have to propagate it every year.
Thank you for showing so many different options of gesneriads, I wasn't aware how many of them that I have that are related. I love episia and I think they are easy to care for, as long as you don't forget to water them.
I already used your Steve’s Leaves code. Wish I saved it for a bigger purchase. Thanks for that code. It was a big savings! Edit: my order is coming today ☺️
Happy to help!! Thank you for using it. Usage might reset before the end of the year, I'll announce if it does, otherwise I should be getting a new code each year to help get yourself a big haul and save a lot!
For your Nautilocalyx, it is starting to etiolate and needs a little more bright light but not sun, or the leaves will bleach. They grow great under fluorescents! Love that you got the gesneriads and spiderworts, they do not get enough love. I can help with Episcias if you want, too. They should be easy peasy.
Pass on the Asparagus fern. But i have Staghorn ferns, Bird's Nest fern, Kangaroo Paw fern, Blue Star fern, Zebra fern, Crocodile fern, and Maidenhair fern in my collection.
Hi Nick! I really like all of the plants you showed. I got my Cebu Blue a couple of years ago @ Wal-Mart for $16.99 in an 8" pot. I was so excited to find it! I was hoping that you would list the plants like you usually do. I use the list when I'm looking for something specific and there were several I'm interested in finding. Please remember to list the plants in the future. Hi Muffin! Thank you so much for sharing!
4:20 That's a _Tradescantia sp._ "nanouk". The zebrina species has two symmetrical silvery stripes on each leaf with a darker purple color on the underside of their leaves.
I love my purple waffle plant - it's a great 'indicator plant' for when I need to water/check for watering plants. It wilts dramatically, but once watered it pops right back up almost immediately. And your a bad influence (or good?) - I just made my first order to Steve's Leaves :D For the curious, I ordered: Epiphyllum 'Red Hybrid' (just liked the look of it), Episcia "Cost Rica Pink" (I've got HUGE African Violets - like over 12" across & bloom 10 out of 12 months of the year, so I hope these will do well with similar care), Begonia hemsleyana variegata ( I love these 'Schefflerra' looking begonias), and a Begonia Luxurians (to replace the one I got from somewhere else that never recovered from shipping and quickly died).
You'd be surprised, Nick. I live in wichita ks and I have not seen a cebu blue for less than $20, even in a 4 inch! I had to end up getting mine from steves leaves and it ended up being cheaper and bigger!
Please tell me that Cissus at the end is a lot easier to grow than C. amazonica. I rescued one earlier this year, and it did great when I tended it daily. But I skipped 2-3 days and she was fading fast. :/ Also I love tradescantia. I'm generally a sucker for multi-color plants.
I know this is way off target. Have been binge watching your videos and have noticed that there is not even one Syngonium in your extensive collection. I realize at this point it’s moot because you probably would not have the room for one. Was curious because with the more than 80 varieties there was not even one that caught your fancy. Inquiring minds would like to know. Forgive me if I misspoke and I just missed it.
I have a couple Syngoniums! Not very many, but I think most of mine would cost more than $15 hence why I didn't talk about them today. I have: S. chiapense, S. auritum, S. erythrophyllum, S. podophyllum "Also Variegatum" and S. macrophyllum. Might have missed one or two!
@@NickPileggiPlants Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I have had the White Butterfly for years and did not even know it’s name. Was also shocked by the prices. When a plant from LOGEES can cost $499, I understand the $15 limit on that video. A whole new world opened up for me when you were showing your house tour of your plants. This inspired me to look into the Syngoniums. Have since gotten the Mottled, Jade, Holly M, and the Alba Variegatum through Steve’s Leaves on your suggestion. I sincerely look forward to all your future videos because they are so full of information.
Nick fyi I accidentally hit something while watching this video and it gave me a notice that feedback shared with creator... I don't know what I sent??? I enjoyed this video and I hope it wasn't bad...so if it was...please ignore 🤗
Off course, he lied. I remember unboxing video, he paid $20 for Siderasis fuscata, and I paid the same price, only I was on the waiting list for about 6 months. The other thing is - not the plants are ugly, he just had no inspiration at all for this paid promotion, and we all know how he sounds and looks when he is really inspired.
@@agathan.944 well considering this isn't a promotional video you're just wrong. Also these plants are plants that are affordable, not that they are his absolute favorites.

I absolutely agree!!
Love kitty flying by!!
Yesss i love seeing Tradescantia getting more attenion, the dwarf varieties of the plant like "Pink Panther" make absolutely gorgeous little hanging baskets.
Agree, one of my favorites to collect! The fluminensis varieties also make beautiful hanging baskets and grow FAST 😁
And so very very easy to grow! The will root anywhere
The "dwarf" ones are actually callisia but I love them so much!
I also love Callisia Repens variegata! the colors are a bit more vibrant but the variegation is inconsistent.
Spiderworts are amazing! They have a lot of boho energy that I really appreciate

I am obsessed with your relationship with muffin
I have a black cat too. But Gypsy is a plant nibbler and I can't trust her. So all toxic plants are up high. Muffin is awesome!
the Muffin Moment™️ is truly always the highlight of your videos! your love for each other is so sweet 🥺🥰
I love your videos so much! I've learned so much from them. I most especially love when Muffin makes her appearance 😻😻😻
Thanks so much for the Steve's Leaves code!
My drymonia chiribogana also grows very awkwardly. But that’s why I looooove it
I seriously love how unique all of your plants look, they are all long and stretchy.. why?
The tradescantia and the cushions ....heavenly!

Thank you Bob! I'm going to increase the light a smidge
My bathroom full of english ivy crawling on the walls begs to differ 😂
Good selection of plants. I got the Cissus after you talked of it a couple of years back. Was surprised there was no Syngoniums in your selection.
Any tradescantia tips? Thinking mine just needs more light but. Yeah would love a video about them specifically
They definitely require bright light, or they get really leggy quick and some leaves will brown. They also don't like to stay dry for too long

Biophytum sensitivum. I agree, I'm from Cebu and Biophytum sensitivum are weeds, they're everywhere in my yard.
You loving pepperomias has definitely rubbed off onto me. On the hunt for a beautiful pink lady specimen.

If it's not a hybrid, I suspect its actual species is _T. cerinthoides_.
Nary a spider plant in sight, sigh, a great, reliable plant that looks awesome mature and can usually be gotten for free
That largest spider wort would be incredible mounted 💚
Is it possible to keep one happy mounted?
For the nautilocalyx, try fertilizing with african violet fertilizer after watering. The leaves might not turn, but the new growth should be darker 😇
got my first hoya today (hoya lisa) and it was only £8 🥰
🏝 love the long vids, Memo!!!!
Have you already tried growing your cute "weeds" as ground cover for your larger plants?
The Nautilocalyx looks like it needs more light for the leaves to color up.

Wayyy easier. Cissus amazonica is a D-I-V-A!
this new background is great!!!!!
Haha, I was like 30 min into the video and still waiting for a Cissus and you did not disappoint 😁
Euphorbia leuconera also shoot seeds all over into other pots.
Oh great lmao
you are glowing!
Why are aphelandra an headheache? I have it on my wishlist 😨
Where did you get those cloches I see on your shelf behind you?
You can send me one if those babies from that palm tree weed plant. 💜💜💜💜
Curious where in your home (type of light) do you keep your Euphorbia leuconeura?
