I share your love for air plants, Nick. I'm here for any air plant content you want to put out (as well as all the rest) and I appreciate it so much! 👍❤️
OMG I'm new to the channel. Nick, you're an absolutely lovely person. The delivery and conversational quality of the video in general was splendid and relaxing to watch at home sick today. New sub. Cheers!
Hi Nick. About two months ago found Rabbit’s Foot ferns at Walmart for $4.00 a pot!!!! I stocked up and bought six. So far - so good - happy and green. After I write this I am so excited to watch your video tutorial about how to plant them in that wood structure to hang on the wall. LOVE THAT!! You are so inspirational. 🤗☘️💗. Also - when I was growing up in the 70’s - our home was full of plants bc my mom loved them - We had a big burly Rabbit’s foot plant on top of the cedar chest - and I remember often petting the fuzzy fronds like they were part of a bunny. Yup. Sweet memories. 💖. Thank you for your videos - we speak plant and share your passion. 🪴💗
I love your videos! Air plants are amazing. I was the same way about ferns, but now I love them and they are thriving. Keep putting out videos. You are a breath of fresh air.
You are my absolute favorite plant guy I watch you whether or not I like the plants! Keep on going. I am 91 and have only 72 plants but love them all. Thank you for giving me ideas for new plants for my collection. Patricia
One that I have had die on me yet I have never given up on is Poinsettia. They will often dry out in the heated radiator warmed windowsill environment especially brought home in the middle of winter. But chop it back, water regularly and they just bounce back with luscious green foliage. I’ve resurrected one with two tiny living leaves that is now 12” tall! Very gratifying. Often it’s a matter of finding plants that like the lighting conditions in your home and choosing appropriately.
Dude, I got a baby calathea lancifolia around a month ago, and I absolutely LOVE it!!! It's the only prayer plant I actually like looks wise (the common name also helped convince me to get the plant haha). I heard that it's easier to get baby prayer plants accustomed to regular household conditions and not have to use a humidifier or terrarium/ greenhouse. I have mine in a no drainage arrangement in sphagnum moss with some carnivorous plants and a fittonia and it's absolutely loving it!!! It also helps me remember to use destilled water for it cuz of the carnivors!! Gosh I love her.
growing up all the old ladies had begonias so I was never really interested until my mom divided one of hers and gave me one and I have continued to buy varieties and truly love them. to me they are very easy to care for and are fast growers! I do love ferns as well!
Very excited to see your begonia erythrophylla (did not know the name till now) I've had mine for about 20+ years, very big and spilling out of pot like you said. Every so often one of it's "arms" gets too heavy and breaks off, just plop it in jar of water and it will root. Give the babies away and keep some too. Never have seen this plant featured on your or any other plant channel. Got mine in a mixed planter that was a gift. Thanks so much for making my day.
You've gone through 20+ prayer plants? I'm glad you told us that. I've lost 3 crocodile ferns within a few months, and I've been taking it personally. Thank you for putting this in perspective for me. (I'm not sure I'm going to give my croc ferns the same number of chances.)
I have had two crocodile ferns and neither one made it and so that's all .. I literally have over 100 plants, and several are ferns but I cannot figure those out.
@@leas.8603 i got a polka dot begonia in early April, not even knowing what type of plant it was. Since then, it tripled in size and is thriving like crazy and does not display any "it's such a difficult plant. keep the humidity as high as possible" signs. Weird plant :D
The best background what you have done for filming video 🪴💚 love your choice of plant’s for this episode. Thank you Nick for making content and your sparkling sense of humor 🙂
I used your code and got my Steve's Leaves plants yesterday. They are beautiful and healthy and arrived in perfect shape - all the way to Alaska! Thank you for the code and the introduction to such an excellent place for plant shopping!
Wishing you all the best with your prayer plants. You have a lot more knowledge than me so they stand a good chance. I love this filming location with the trellis backdrop and plants visible everywhere in the background! More please!
Love your new House plants crushes! I too love all in your recent list. I find the lancifolia the most forgiving. Knock on wood my Calathea are doing super well & I think it's 2 things. Keeping them right by the kitchen sink & water trays underneath the Cash pot. 😁Thank You for the Code for Steve's Leaves. I have a laundry list for them. That code will help.💚🌿☺️
My Calathea lancifolia is an angel. I've had it for a few years and have never had a bit of trouble. No crisping, no rot, no nonsense (unlike the rest of That Crew). It's a little stunner.
I love ferns!!! Can't get enough. - Oh yeah, the Calatheas/Marantas - I finally learned to treat exactly like a fern, except for distilled water, and they're doing great.
As a relatively new plant mom, my latest Anthuriums are my new "next level" plants. Beautiful and worth the extra trouble and time they take in my home. Love your vlog! You are my numero uno plant aficionado.
I am trying a fern in a self watering pot to help stay on top of it. 🤞🏻 Begonias have also had me curious and I am seeing if they will ❤️ me as much as I ❤️ them.
Hey Nick! Air plant lover here as well! I have received 3 as a gift from my boss (the best boss in the world and NOT just because she gifts me with plants from time to time) :). I'm enjoying trying to keep them alive and so far am doing quite decently with them. I will have to send you a photo if I can. The one thing I have a hard time with though is deciding WHERE/How to display them. I'm constantly changing my mind. I actually think the watering process, while different, is much easier than even watering "regular" plants. Most plants you have to worry about too much, too little water. These I just "chunky dunk" for a bit then turn em' upside down to drain out before returning them to their spot every weekend ;). I have a cork display similar to yours for one of em' and well, I just love the slow growing things. I find it fascinating I can keep them alive. I hope to get them to flower one day. Thank you for ALL your videos. I appreciate your time and efforts ALWAYS.
I love my rabbits foot fern, it’s a beautiful beast, relatively low maintenance. I love my angel and dragon wing begonias. Both ones I didn’t know I’d be a fan of. I also have few air-plants tat I’ve had for years. I knew a gal that said she had a couple air plants that she just misted… I was like you’re sure they’re not dead? They were. Haha.
Thank you for talking about ferns. I just got a rabbits foot and rosy maidenhair. And so far they are good. I love my T. Tectorum, but I find the 'leaves' turn brown unless I water it every 2-3 days. Maybe location in my house. Love your videos. And I like your idea of mounting tilly on the cork bark. thank you!
1.Tillandsia lover here 2. I have found the Calathea lancifolia to be a very easy plant, never a pest problem, more tolerant of being underwatered. 3. Seems to me that I heard you raving after the 2020 Philly Flower show about the B. erythrophylla. That is what got me to get one which now has a wingspan of 30 inches.
Love the airplants! Always have❤️ A fun way to display them is in the opening of large seashells, so they look like tentacles/sea creatures… great idea for a bathroom. I think this is how I saw them the very first time, in a plant-book. Decades ago…. Love your channel!
I got a bunch of plants from a friend of the family. Rehabs, cuttings, etc. One of them was a Ctenanthe Pilosa(?) and I was so scared. It's quickly become one of my favourites! It's putting out like 15 babies right now, I can't believe it! I've only had it for about two months and it has been so much easier than I ever would have imagined. I think at the end of the growing season, I'm going to separate some of them and have smaller plants all over.
Nick I love air plants too! I have two and would like more. I got sent one free and was like really? But then I got a bigger one and they are so cool in amongst my plant collection.
Awwwww! I'm so happy to see her! And thank you for letting her come into the videos. She is beautiful! And I love her eyes!! Bye muffin! I hope to see you again.. Thank you Nick.!!🙂🎈❤️🎈❤️🎈❤️🎈
Hey there. I absolutely love air plants. I would love to see a video on how to make mounts for air plants. Also a care video. Love your channel. Thanks for all you do.
Thank you for the air plant shout out. I keep a dozen or so spread across a couple of metal frames from Cost Plus. This summer, I'm mounting them outside on my covered South facing patio to see how they do. Super fun, easy care plants, that I give a weekly water dunk and lots of air circulation.
When people say, “air plants don’t need much water!” Then there’s me… spraying them like.. twice a day and soaking for 4 hours every weekend. They’re ✨thriving ✨💦
Calathea has been tempting me lately as well, specifically the one you showed! I killed a few at the beginning of my plant journey, but I've been doing well with a stromanthe triostar which is close enough, so maybe I'll try again.
That first begonia! Swoon! So green, shiny and healthy looking Always loved begonia rex but I didn’t give it enough fuss. I’m obsessed with a hoya I grew from a two leaf cutting that starts to grow like mad from late spring. It likes me and I love it right back.
I love my tallandsia! I made a huge crochet mandala to display them all on. I get a monthly subscription box through cratejoy full of all kinds of them.
I fell in love with ferns lately too! I have a Crocodile fern and Staghorn fern for a year and have good luck with them, and lately I aquired an Asplenium "Parvati" (I LOVE that one so much, it's so easy! 🤩) and a Button fern (the one with dark green leathery leaves). My next purchase will be a Rabbit's foot fern 😊
I would love to see an air plant video! Thanks for sharing that they need a lot of light. I guess that’s why I have not been successful with them. I love when muffin makes an appearance😽
I love air plants! I don't have any because I am restraining myself real hard to not get too many plants at once and I really recently discovered them. Also they're kinda hard to find where I live, there are mostly bigger varieties which I'm less a fan of.
Ive found the C. lancifolia to be more tolerant than some others. This is only one that didnt brown up and scream when in my home. No crazy care. Just about 3ft from an east facing window in my kitchen.
Dude. Philodendron dark lord. I didn't have any interest in it. My nephew bought one and had it sent to my house because his dad doesn't like him having hobbies honestly. He promised I could have a cutting later on if I kept it until he was on his own. So I've been keeping it for him and oh my god I LOVE this thing! The backs of the leaves are BEAUTIFULLY red and the front is a dark muted green. It's putting out a lot of leaves and they come out so deep red. I'm definitely going to divide whatever cutting he gives me like crazy so I can have a deep dark urn full of this striking plant.
I love my air-plant collection, BTW. I tend to play with their presentation; I buy baskets and break out the glue gun and just play. I don't do this with my "serious plants".
Air plants are cool. I keep mine on a branch of Corylus avellana contorta, in a north facing window. I soak them once a week for about an hour and they are growing beautifully. I have maybe 8 different species and one of them is going to flower soon 💚
LOL I wasn't thinking anything when you said trichomes until the wink wink . I really like how you have your air plants displayed. I'm def one of the people who didn't show them much love, but you're selling me on them !
Hi Nick, new sub, and new plant mama! 😊 thank you so much for all your wonderful videos, I’ve literally been watching and learning all day. You’re easy on the ears, and your teaching is straight forward to the point, thank you for that. So happy I found your channel. Continuous blessings to you and your channel.
My amateur guess is Capitata for your mystery air plant Air plants are awesome! I love coming up with mounts for them. I spray them; several of mine are bulbous and can rot if the water gets stuck inside.
I adore my China doll plant, completely obsessed with it. I did recently buy a heart leaf fern and a hurricane one, finders crossed they are both still doing well. Anthuriums uhm nope terrified of them.
Once upon a time calatheas we’re one of my favorites plants, I found after taking care of many different kinds that the ones with a “skinny” stem (like the lancifolia) are more resilient than the ones with fuzzier and thicker stems
Calathea Network Musaica is very easy, not one crispy leaf and constantly putting out new growth. She is my best behaving calathea :) Zebrina is doing great now ,but she did kill the older foliage and just like you said, the new growth looks better (she didn't like bright indirect light , i have 2 pots and the one that was placed in a medium light was doing a lot better) Also doing great for me are the Blue Star and the Crocodile ferns. I am trying now to get a Microsorum steerei fern, judging by the look of the leaves i might be able to keep it alive.
Hi Nick! love seeing Muffin! I'm one who LOVES air plants, but have struggled with them. I have 5 now and hope they do well. Four of them are in a bowl shaped pot with black rocks and the other one is in a glass hanging vessel for air plants. I recently bought another rabbits foot fern and am hoping it survives. I've struggled with them and kangaroo paw ferns, but really love the looks of them. I may try mounting it.... I've had prayer plants, but they don't seem to like my house. The only anthurium I've tried is the one that comes out at Christmas. It's doing ok, but I don't know if it will ever flower again. Begonias are pretty, but I've never tried growing one. Maybe some day. Thank you so much for sharing! BTW< I like the view when you sit on your couch.
I've just rotted all like 10 air plants I've tried 😭 would love to try again tho with some of your mounting tips cause air plants really are so so cool
Hey Nick, please make a video on how u provide sufficient light requirements to all your plants.. how u decide where to place them? Does 8 watts regular led lights enough? Please please please.. need your guidance
I have quite a few Japanese holly ferns.....but they are outside in the ground. Glad to see your little begonia is doing better - yes, plants *want* to live. 🪴
Same experience with prayer plants here. Lol you just never know as time will tell. The majority if my collection are succulents so it’s super different
I love air plants! I just started a biggish mounting board for some on my wall. It’s a bit sparse for now but I hope to have it nice and full eventually.
I just got one last week. It had no tag so I'm just guessing what it might be. But I'm loving the look. I am wanting to get about 3 more. Nick is the best for information about plants
I like air plants. I don't currently have any, but a few years ago I had several different kinds and I kept them in a nice round metal basket. They could get showered easily and lived for a couple of years. they bloomed and they grew.
I live in Florida & I could literally give everyone of the commenters on your channel an air plant like the first one you showed & still have hundreds to spare. They are all over our trees. It’s funny to see it actually in a “plant” video!! 😆. I guess every plant is native to somewhere.
My special angel! 🏆 I have that dang begonia, purchased as a $5 clearance plant at my local nursery so I never knew the correct name 🤣🤣🤣 Talk about a resilient and easy to care for begonia - my mother plant is massive, I’ve cut it down to prop several times and now I have legit six of these around the house lol
Begonias are one of mine too! I started with a Maculata last year, and quickly fell in love with its appearance and performance both. Now Im on the hunt to find other varieties that will happily thrive indoors. :)
I share your love for air plants, Nick. I'm here for any air plant content you want to put out (as well as all the rest) and I appreciate it so much! 👍❤️
Ditto!
The lancifolia has been one of the easiest prayer plants for me!!
That’s good to hear!! I saw today mines putting out two new leaves 🤞🏻
I love the air plant mount omg that's so cute!

I got my first Hoya today in the mail from an Etsy seller. It’s a Hoya Wayetti variegated
Hi Muffin! Oh, she’s such a petite little thing. I love when she stops by for a hello 🖤❤️
I love when she does toooo

Cool, I never thought of just keeping poinsettias as regular house plants
I like the change in background, first thing I noticed (I had to pause for a second just to see all the pretty babies)
I just got a Himalayan maiden hair fern to add to my shade garden. I’m in zone 6 and ferns have been great for me indoors and out.
I LOVE how you style your air plants!
Nick. I love you. Love your plants. Love the moobs. You be you, my friend.

Haha I feel that. They are so neat! The love I have for the variety Peperomias possess is transferring over

I like air plants I bought my first plant this week. It only cost 2.98 at lowe’s, so I see how well I do. Following the instructions on the package.🤞🏽
She is my best behaving calathea :) Zebrina is doing great now ,but she did kill the older foliage and just like you said, the new growth looks better (she didn't like bright indirect light , i have 2 pots and the one that was placed in a medium light was doing a lot better)
Also doing great for me are the Blue Star and the Crocodile ferns. I am trying now to get a Microsorum steerei fern, judging by the look of the leaves i might be able to keep it alive.
Okay ADMITTEDLY I don’t have much of a thing for air plants, but the bark mount you have may get me hooked 😅 it is ADORABLE
And now I’m just seeing the second stick mount you made, so creative!
Thank you! They were fun to make, I really need to get supplies to make more
Hi Nick! love seeing Muffin!
Yes! Air plants rock! I have several including some lovely Spanish moss. I’m a soaker though so don’t come for me 😂
Cool air plant you got there Nick
I've just rotted all like 10 air plants I've tried 😭 would love to try again tho with some of your mounting tips cause air plants really are so so cool
I love air plants! I do need to up my display game, though. I love your mounts.
i didn't used to like air plants, but mine just started to bloom and now i LOVE air plants, lol
Ferns do well in self watering systems!
Yesssss, I’ll be using your code!!
Hey Nick, please make a video on how u provide sufficient light requirements to all your plants.. how u decide where to place them? Does 8 watts regular led lights enough? Please please please.. need your guidance
Love the couch and the pillows 😌
Thank you!!
You answered my question
I have quite a few Japanese holly ferns.....but they are outside in the ground. Glad to see your little begonia is doing better - yes, plants *want* to live. 🪴
Wonderful prayer plant encouragement!! Thank you! Gotta stick it out. I'm having a similar experience.
U looking fin great boy thanks for the video nick much love
I love airplants! They’re easy!
Same experience with prayer plants here. Lol you just never know as time will tell. The majority if my collection are succulents so it’s super different
I love air plants! I just started a biggish mounting board for some on my wall. It’s a bit sparse for now but I hope to have it nice and full eventually.
Just got my first fern. So far I love it.
I love air plants. I have 6 large ones right now. I can’t wait to get more. Love
More information the better on the jewels would be wonderful.
I love that! That’s a great idea to display
I love air plants!!!!!!! 😘😘😘😘😘
I live in Florida & I could literally give everyone of the commenters on your channel an air plant like the first one you showed & still have hundreds to spare. They are all over our trees. It’s funny to see it actually in a “plant” video!! 😆. I guess every plant is native to somewhere.
My special angel! 🏆
I have that dang begonia, purchased as a $5 clearance plant at my local nursery so I never knew the correct name 🤣🤣🤣
Talk about a resilient and easy to care for begonia - my mother plant is massive, I’ve cut it down to prop several times and now I have legit six of these around the house lol
Begonias are one of mine too! I started with a Maculata last year, and quickly fell in love with its appearance and performance both. Now Im on the hunt to find other varieties that will happily thrive indoors. :)
Find a corallina! I live in a desert and mine is super happy, grows fast and the leaves are huge! Easy peasy.
@@daniellekirsch5402 I just googled pics to check it out. Its def going on my wishlist for sure. Thanks!
I have the begonia beleaf inca flame. Lovely plant without stressing me.
@@leas.8603 Thats a pretty one too! Since its solid pink, does it need alot of light?
@@ShadowsEcho1990 it gets some light in the morning (not too much and quite far from the window). I have it for a couple of months - so far so good.
Love air plants I have many
