the lipstick plant love makes me happy, disappointing it gets overlooked being so common because it really is such a beautiful plant (and one of the few ive gotten to flower 🙈 )
I sincerely think Red Emeralds are so underappreciated. I'm lucky to live around zone 10 and I got a cutting from a person's backyard and the Philo's leaves were the length of my arm. Then this winter I got a 2-leaf cutting of this cutting, the leaves are not that big, but still the size of my palm and for the past week I got a new leaf and I see another bud on the way, guess this growing season is gonna be eventful
Interesting! Are you in a very humid environment? My only issue with the Satin varieties is that they can rot...they hold more water than the other Pothos. My Calatheas are all crispy bees even though I have a humidifier!
Wait until the leaves start to curl under to water them, which is pretty dry. They're very communicative!!! I hope they grow like crazy for you; I love them so much!!! 🌿💙🌿
I highly recommend the button fern too if you're afraid of ferns. This one is so forgiving. Very clearly shows you when it wants water, looks crusty as but almost immediately after giving it a drink, the leaves feel soft again and after 10 minutes it looks back to normal. Do highly recommend
I’ll have to hunt for one... The ferns I have thriving are boston fern and hare’s foot fern - there are also like 10 odd placed ferns that are coming back after dying back within 2 weeks of buying them
I just got a button fern about a month ago and I love it! I'm still trying to find its favorite light spot. It seems to appreciate my southwest window as lond as there are a few plants between it and the window. Any helpful hints will be very much appreciated!
@@sallyaengle6228 give it a go in you're bathroom. It's fair resilient, so if it isn't looking good there, shuffle it round a bit. But I really don't think you'll have issues with it being in the bathroom 😊
Hello Nick..SO glad I found your channel! Your Red Emerald is STUNNING! I would love to see you do a video on "Trees for Your Home" because you always find some great options that are outside the box and not typical, mainstream suggestions. (P.S. The Scindapsus you first showed is the Silvery Ann, the Argyraeus is darker green and more spotted in the center of the leaf and not toward the tip.)
I got that a couple months ago, too. So pretty! As Nick said, a lower leaf turned yellow and dropped off but it's been totally fine since and has put out 2 more leaves, so don't be alarmed!
Can you make a video on light? Like how you have your low light plants set up or like how far or bright because I always end up burning my low light plants😭 or if you’ve had any luck with the pinstripe plants 🥺
Fix me if I'm wrong but I believe your scindapsus pictus is Silvery Ann (or at least most of the strands are). I love them so much (both silvery ann and argyreus) and spent hours to look up how to tell one from another lol.
I love my variegated lipstick plant! 💚 It has all green leaves as well as some with gorgeous cream and light green variegation. It gets a ton of light hanging in a west facing window which I believe helps.
1st you always have such great plants. Jungle vive well my Bird of Paradise with my Pothos and my sweet potato vine, my Spider plants and Ivies my peace lilly and my Kalachoe's and can't forget my always pregant Snake plant. (when i brought her in in October i removed 4 pups this winter she says okay i want a baby i'll hide her in the back so you can't see. Found it when i planted her in a new pot.
Thanks Nick!!! I'm looking to get back into having house plants again...since getting my cat, who is a plant muncher, I've been plantless, and i miss it every day!!! So now I'm thinking of ways to have plants and my munching cat!!! To get me started, I bought a couple of free standing garment racks, to hang plants on. So now I'm ready to start collecting plants. Woo hoo!!! Thanks for the inspiration and information. Wishing you a lovely day, with strawberries on top! 🍃🤗🍃
Nick, I wanted to let you know, I'm going to try your light suggestion. I just got the 40W Black lamp. I've got the darkest spot in my living room I am going to light right up! I'll give you an update after it's going a few weeks :)
The plants that instantly turn my home into a jungle are my various pothos, scindapsus and philodendrons, my Kentia Howea, my Monstera Andansonii and my huge Maranta Leuconera Fascinator.
My scindapsus takes forever to grow in my home. It's still super tiny and hasn't grown any vines. Also, my Asparagus fern is such a diva! I went away for 2 days and left the shades down but I did have grow lights around the room. She is also sitting next to a humidifier and I came home to a bunch of yellow leaves!
Some plants take their time to settle down before they grow. I had this experience with some pothos, and I'm actually experimenting it for a few months with my Scindapsus Pictus Exotica (whereas the S. P. Argyraeus has always been a fast grower to me) Be patient ! :-)

Side note but I really love the thicker moss poles that you use. Do you buy those or make them yourself? Also after hearing you talk about the natal mahogany for so long I finally invested, but the plant had scale in the nursery and it didn't last long :( so sad especially since they're a bit pricey in my area
Nick! You are wonderful! Thank you so much for all your advice over the years. It's because of you that I have fallen in love with such plants as cissus and the wide range of peperomias. Definitely adding Philondendron Squamiferum to the list!
I just bought a philodendron erubescens and I'm so happy to see it feautured in this video, they're so incredibly beautiful with their huge green leaves and dark red stems and underside !! I'd love for them to grow as tall as me or taller. Love your videos Nick , great for binge watching for any plant lover 💚💚💚
Hi Nick! Great picks! The only two that I have of your choices are the Scindapsus Pictus Argyraeus and the Kangaroo Paw Fern, but not sure the fern is going to make it. The other plants are really pretty, too. I'm still hoping to find a Rhipsalis. Loved watching and listening to you talking about your plants, as usual. Thank you so much for sharing!
Nick!! could you try and post a video about identifying plant diseases? im at that stage in plant parenting where I have most of the pests under control, but now I am suspecting viruses and bacterial diseases are taking over my plants. thx
Fox Farms potting soil has them in it, or you can just buy a bag, add to your mix, instructions on bag, really good for plants. I use to have worms and made my own, really cool! Had to sell house, so no more☺🌱💖
after i saw you mention the natal mahogany in one of your previous videos I've been on the hunt for one and i finally found one at my local plant store for very inexpensive I'm so happy with it
My vote is Philodendron Selloum. I just bought a biggg boy for $15 it's already put out a new huge leaf, and the size and look definitely makes you feel like a jungle, and it's easy to care for.
Love this video thank you! I had an Aeschynanthus after seeing one at a friends house it just dive bombed into death for me, but they are so gorgeous also anything red and hairy is my fave im looking for a Philodendron squamiferum thanks for all the info though I think climate totally makes a difference too!💚

I love your videos! They have been a new obsession. As a new plant owner I’d love to hear more about plant care! I have a million questions and I just wish I could ask you all of them!! Having said that.....any Begonia tips? My dad gave me a polkadot one and I’m worried I’m waiting to long to repot...
I think your kangaroo paw fern (Microsorum diversifolium) might be a monarch fern (Microsorum scolopendria), tho I'm not an expert so I'm not really sure 😂 There's a lot growing in the tree in my yard and it looks so much like yours! One thing I've noticed from my quick research online is that kangaroo paws have aligned leaf veins, while monarchs have alternating veins, almost like zigzag. Tho I'm still not sure coz I haven't seen anything online that distinguishes the two, since if you search the 2 terms, google images always show a mix of both the alternating and the aligned one!
Cute guy, cute plants = Win Win! But seriously thank you, I’ve not long been into plants, but now my house is half full of them so loving all the tips! Thanks 😊

All my pothos variations thrive but I kill succulents somehow🤷🏼♀️ who knows 😂

I had a Red emerald in the 70's, gave cuttings to everyone! Your exactly right grows fast.....
