A scene from "The Women's Suffragettes" play by Alfie James
A scene from "The Women's Suffragettes" - a play which was devised and written by Alfie James as part of a community heritage and theatre project in London. The project aimed to explore the story of the women's suffragette movement in the UK - the struggles which the women faced, the impact it had on their families lives and the long-term impact it had upon our society.
In this scene Bethany Davey plays Peggy, a working class mother who has been given the opportunity to give a speech about why women should be given the right to vote.
Featuring Bethany Davey as Peggy, Derek Robey as the Gentleman at the Hen and Chicken's Theatre in London.
Supported by The Heritage Lottery Fund, LSE Library and Alfie James Productions.
