My parents live in N. Redington Beach everywhere you ride is like being home to me! I’m so glad to find this review. I’ve definitely decided which model Rad I’m buying for my place here in Utah. Thanks for the all the information!
Am closing in on two years with mine. Got no idea how many miles are on it but I ride it a lot, mostly 5-15 mile round trips. Haven't had one problem with it, they're well made and do what they're made to do. You'll get a highly recommended from me.
0:25 do they make a 'fueltank' box that is a huge battery? You could use that space for a zombie apocalypse style long range. Like one of those long range tanks you can put in a diesel pickup truck so they can go thousands of miles.
Hi, did you ride your bike with the 3,3" tires that mounted when you buy the bike or did you upgrade to 4" tires? Was it hard to ride in the soft sand in comprison to the harder wet sand? I just bought a Radrunner and want to use it to drag my longboards across the beach and am wondering if I need to buy the 4" tires. Thanks for the video.
Excellent questions! I try to always ride on the beach with the tide going out. The 3" that came with my original RadRunner did fine along the water however the 4" is better on softer sand and dirt. It's hard to ride that sand, when I rode it out it had just got done sprinkling and that's the only reason I made it all the way out.
@@ElectricCameraRide Thanks for your reply. I guess I have to try it out myself. Maybe it's okay if I use the throttle to push the bike close to the water and than ride it there. Riding it at high tide on the beach is probably difficult no matter which tires one rides.
@@stimm-gymvonmartinselle3053 I've been talking to others out here about towing along the water and we're not sure the RadRunner has the torque to get a tow started. If you're in the area I'd be happy to give it a try
@@ElectricCameraRide Thanks for the offer. I guess I'm far away in europe 🙂. I'm sure the bike's got enough torque but I'm still thinking about upgrading to the 4" tires. That would defenitely make a difference riding on sand.
good review but being a woman I sold my Rad Runner and bought the Rad Mission with the mid step. Its 20 pounds lighter and being older I wanted to be able to maneuver the bike into an elevator etc. Its just personal preference and I'm in love with the mission. The Rad runner was fun, and I went to places to explore that I would not normally go.
I have a rad runner 2 EU version. I use an Eggrider display, which lets me use the controller un-throttled. The controller can deliver 17 amps with the eu version. I can easily get to and top out at 20mph
No 1 upgrade for a rad runner 1 or 2 - a suspension seat post with new seat. You can then have a great ride and be able to push that seat a little further back. Ive ridden on quite rough terrain with the suntour post, and i really dont feel i miss having suspension forks at all. That extra inch you can push the seat rearwards makes a huge difference to comfort for anyone average height
Gained great perspective from this video! So eager for my Rad Runner to arrive. Have you never considered upgrading the stock seat/seatpost to something a bit more plush?
@@herbertstokes2046 I hear only trivial negatives about the bike. Waiting for it is so hard, lol. I think upgrading things over time will be half the fun :)
Have you thought about a second battery for long trips where you can’t charge? Was that range based on peddle assist or just straight throttle the entire ride?
Have thought about a second battery, it would help on 30-40 mile days. The ride that I tested with and without the display upgrade and with and without peddling for both ended up being about the same time. Hope to film the display video in the next week or 2, depending on this tropical storm Brian
I was kind of surprised to not see anyone pedaling while riding this bike in the video. It is used more like a small motorcycle. Does the central console impair pedaling?
I would say yes, depending on the area you are in (range) Seen a few here on UA-cam using it for that exactly Ordered the small and large racks with the insulated bags, arriving today. I'll let you know how they look by tonight
cool video ... have you noticed any negative impact from riding on the sand/ near salt ??? i'd be interested to know about that experience in particular. cheers.
You definitely have to clean it after. There's been a few issues. Working on a video of that as I have many friends that won't ride their bikes on the beach
If I can have electric e-bike but I don't because the money but mine will be in neon yellow with all the accessories comes with it and I would add one more thing to it a trailer hitch to have a cargo trailer built for recyclable cans so you can cash in your cans on your own with electric e-bike that would be cool or if you want to get a little B camper that would be awesome great to hook on your trailer hitch of the e-bike
@@googleuser6635 that info is under geometry for each model in the website. Also there is a page on the site about test rides and where you can find one. I actually found a rental place near me through that.
@@JordanMcMillan Thanks. You already helped more than their customer support. For the test rides, I went to that page, and it has a very tiny map. The map shows several locations within 4 hours of me. Unfortunately, all the locations are either closed or do not carry rad bikes. I looked for anywhere that services rad bikes, but every place with which I've spoken refuses to touch them. These bikes really only seem feasible if you live close to their stores.

Awesome! Happy you liked it
I think this bike would do fine in Utah (lived in SLC for years)

They don't yet I've seen riders put a second battery on their bikes.
I think it would be easier to just carry a spare for the long rides.

That's what we generally do, also depends on the weight. I'm 190 carrying 30+lbs of gear

Good point, it is a heavy bike
Definitely dig it. Like the cargo carrying options.
Just ordered the large and small racks, should make it even better
I would love to hear more about the display upgrade, one of the things I dislike about the radrunner 1 is that it doesn't have a display
Working on that, I like that it's a bit quicker but not worth the battery drain to do 21mph
@@ElectricCameraRide oh yeah it does drain more, I would have the EU version though which only does 15mph
I wonder if it would get you up to 20 on the EU version?

I've tried a few and am looking to make a banana seat for mine

You won't regret this. My wife bought me one in May 2021 for my birthday. It's outstanding. I added the consul and display.

Decided to do a seat video this weekend to show what I tried

From other reviewers, must upgrades on this bike: fenders, passenger seat, seat post and saddle, and storage.
I would also change the pedals and add a ‘Mirrycle’.
Thank you for the great review I really enjoyed it
My pleasure!

Not at all, plenty of room.
However, I try not to pedal when I'm doing video to keep the camera more stable.
Would you suggest this bike for doing food delivery?
I would say yes, depending on the area you are in (range)
Seen a few here on UA-cam using it for that exactly
Ordered the small and large racks with the insulated bags, arriving today.
I'll let you know how they look by tonight
They are pretty cool, well constructed
I'll be testing them out and making a video on the weekend

I have thought about a solar panel trailer to recharge the bike
This is a cool bike 😎
I'm still a fan at 2 years
I wanna get one of these and put a 100 thousand rough and tough miles on it. 😁
Then you definitely should watch the seat video 😅
I agree, the kick stand is a downgrade & the center stand is 💪🏾💪🏾
After 2 years of up and down stairs, riding over curbs and general abuse It's just as solid as day 1.

I'll be doing a 2 year video soon, I'll have to mention that. Thank you
@@ElectricCameraRide Ok cool, & np. 🤝🏾
Anyway to make it go faster? 20mph to slow lol
I've got it up to 21 with the Rad display upgrade, looking into the Bolton display for it
@@ElectricCameraRide did you mean to say 31? because an extra km an hr doesn't seem like much
Nope... 21, stock bikes did 18.7
@@6ixsidedeezy 20mph not kmph
Fall off at 45 mph is not for me, plus, local police are looking to get fast ebikes banned.
That would be rough. The bikes that do 60mph are cool yet overkill for 90% of people
only 250W motor in Europe
Wow! did not know that
Informative video, although the nauseating teenaged posing of your friend in the black shirt is a demerit.
But Rad customer support is terrible!
I've only contacted them once and fixed the issue by the time they responded.
What are you having issues with?
