they only wanted to check boxes to be woke instead of making a meaningful show like the original! also funny how they complain about over sexualized characters when they do it themselves!🤦♀️
Not gonna lie I busted out laughing when I saw Big Shot pop up the first time in the show. After the whole deal with Faye I would have thought they'd get rid of THAT girl's outfit and replace it too.
The fact that netfilx version spends way to much time cramming In sex jokes... spent almost an entire episode in a whore house filled with BDSM atire and had that wierd scene with a dominatrix ...then had that another scene with a half naked girl dancing to jazz and contorting for no reason proved they didn't care about sexualizing characters ...they just wanted THEIR wierd kinks in the show.
Ah yes because as we all know the original show totally didnXt have two cool badass female characters in it 🤣 wish you culture warriores would actually watch the shows you pretend to be a fan of for this lame culture war grift.
Her name is Fae because her personality is that of a fae female cat. A runaway. Fae cats are garish, loud, ... Pesky. Her anime persona was perfect representation of how abandoned or neglected girls act, especially if they never had adult supervision.
It's funny that people think the problem with the adaptation is that it's "woke" when it removed all of the social commentary that was present in the original!
Tbh I was fine with Faye's new look, I can live with it. What I couldn't deal with was her personality. She's like an obnoxious child that learned bad words.
I just found it odd how they had her in the posters its like the way she is posing has you think she is still a feme fatale but then the show has you thinking something else. Idk its just odd to me that they say they don't want to sexualise her but still have her pose like that but maybe i'm just nitpicking.
Netflix: We must put more depth into Faye and not oversexualize Faye. She's more than just sex. Also Netflix: Faye gets down with a random mechanic she sees and in the next episode she's just talking about nothing but sex.
They can't do adaptations cuz they're never done out of a place of care and passion, it's always done out of spite to fix made up "problematic" issues with the source material that only they see in it. If they actually were passionate about the original they never wouldve gutted Faye's character like this.
I very much agreed with this video. You nailed why Faye is such a beloved character. It's a paradox that she is dressed sexy and has the big anime boobs and yet in 26 episodes, she's never in a real sexual situation. She is literally never exploited by the writers, it's a kind of subverted expectation as we learn Faye is very complex. She's outwardly very tough and ruthless, capable as a bounty hunter, deeply cynical and distrusting and she uses her sex appeal as a way to keep both bounties and marks off balance so she can gain an advantage. Then we see little by little how lost and alone she is in that world and that her developing trust and care/love for the Bebop crew is what she fears most, losing them like she lost her past childhood. Which makes the final scene with Faye and Spike so utterly heart breaking. And it's brilliantly written because it's under stated, Faye is a very proud woman and her plea for Spike to stay feels 100x more powerful. She tries to calmly reason with Spike at first and then for one brief moment, she let's her guard down and raises her voice at him in desperation, a very brief moment of vulnerability, like a confession. So of course all that nuance and depth is completely lost at Netflix and they immediately dismiss the anime version of Faye and replace with her a lesbian because that's so edgy and they cover her up because the male gaze must be defeated and then turn her personality into a vulgar, obnoxious b*tch. sigh...
I agree with everything you said. Another annoying thing to me was the live action Faye's cursing. It did not make her edgier or more grown up....as the actress claimed. She just seemed bratty and childish.
Don't you know? Desexualizing characters only applies to making sure they're not appealing to straight men. It's not a matter of desexualizing at all, but rather trying to stick it to the patriarchy. Anyway, I saw the outfit change and knew they didn't understand Bebop's appeal. Don't even have to watch it myself to know they didn't care.
@@TerrenceNowicki same thing happens all the time like with that Harley Quinn movie they screamed about girl power if I’m remembering right but the female director or whatever couldn’t do action to save their life so they had to hire the dude who did John wicks action and it instantly became better. Like I remember seeing some of the original action shots and going dam that’s bad. *reshoots it*ayo we’red this glow up come from
The biggest victim is Gren. In Anime, Gren is a man who was betrayed and forced into an experiment against his will which left his body with feminine traits. Something that he was clearly not happy about. He continued to live as a man, and only used the femininity he had only to get close to his mark. Even then, nothing was campy about Gren. What did Netflix do to him? Making his role bigger since he has an interesting arc? No. They take away what defines Gren as a nuance character and make him a non-binary side character with the most stereotypical traits.
Bebop was the anime that got me into anime. My son was telling me that there was this character in it that I would like because she was a smartass. We watched whatever episode was on AS at the time and I was hooked. I was willing to give the Netfix version a try, but the more I see, the less that I really want to. I have the anime in my collection and I'll watch that instead.
I think they over estimated her sex appeal. I will always remember Faye as the little girl on the VHS tape who just wanted to grow alongside her friends and family and now all her friends from her high school days are on their way out due to their age and she’s been manipulated to no end; she’s become cynical as a way to protect herself and she realizes on the Bepop she had family. Ed was like her little sister Ein their little family dog and jet and spike like older brothers who were always fighting each other.... she just wanted love and belonging and they somehow missed the entire point because OH NO HOW DARE MAN BE ATTRACTED TO A GROWN ADULT WOMAN, and like you said the mechanic scene did nothing but get people bricked up.... genius writing Netflix.
Lmao every time y’all actually make a salient point regarding the issues with plot, you cancel it with the dumbest critique about her sexualization. The actress just poked fun at the small group of fans tht literally sending her death threats and hate messages over a costume. Lol “how dare men be attracted to an adult women”. It is literally a cartoon, if you think that is what well adjusted grown men are concerned with I think it says more about you and the weirdos you hang with. Please go touch grass 😂😂
@@princeobah7995 1: that's about 3 or 4 people among a list of valid critiques regarding both her ethnicity (What's the point in race swapping an Asian) and the choice in outfit. 2: Netflix actively stated that they found her original outfit "problematic". This is along the same line of logic as "writing the wrongs of the anime" (And keep in mind, this is the same anime they called the perfect anime, so what wrongs are they talking about). 3: If you unironically use the term "touch grass", I question your sanity.
I am so pissed about what they did to Faye. I am not a man btw. She was already a strong indie woman in the anime. Netflix oversexualized her character and turned this live action series into 3rd rate fan fiction.
A thing about Faye that should also be mentioned is that in the original anime, she is explicitly confirmed to be Singaporean. The thing is, Daniella Pineda was asked point blank about this in an interview, and the interviewer asked her if she as a White Latina should play a character who is East Asian and is hinted at to be also of Romani origin. Pineda then literally said she's more diverse than anime Faye, and that Latinas don't get represented in Sci fi. First of all, I actually don't recall ever seeing Romani or Singaporean characters in much other Sci fi, but I can think of a Latina character right off the bat. Katarina, from the first episode of the Bebop anime. And in the Netflix show...Katarina is now white girl. Also I should mention that although I am a White guy from America, I've heard from Singaporean people that Faye's struggles with her past really resonate with them, because Singapore is deeply rooted in both Eastern and Western values, and it leaves youths in the country unsure of how to handle their future. Ps, should also mention that aside from Spike (where there's also speculation he could be Jewish in the anime, given his name and Israeli firearm) and Shin and Lin (who were horribly utilized, they literally do nothing in the Netflix show) every single Asian character was changed to not be Asian in the show. Red Dragon Syndicate higher ups, including Vicious, The Van, and Mao Yenrai, were pretty much all Asian, because they basically were a Triad/Yakuza style organization.
Some reviewers on youtube said the show's fault is to be" too faithful". No, is not. The show has faithful aspects (visuals and plot elements mostly) but when comes to what really matters (the characters and story) is in fact is the opposite: some characters were simply butchered. This Faye is completely different from the anime. The same goes to Vicious and Julia. Not only different but way worse, just shadows of the original characters. If they wanted to be faithful they should have been! If you try to be faithful but makes a lot of bad changes in the story and characters, you are not being authentic anymore. Long time fans don't want to see a exact copy of the anime, if they do that it will be just a bad, uncreative copy. I love when a adaptation makes changes but to create good ideas you need to respect and understand the original work. But here the showrunner and writers just saw things that needed to be "fixed". The result is stupid changes, awful dialogues, unconvincing backstories and sometimes a little bit of political agenda. That's why I think when you want a brand new take to a cult classic, sometimes is better to make a completely new story with new characters, a good example of that is the movie Edge of Tomorrow
That's what I'm worried more about. Faye's outfit alone was clearly a misdirection in criticism. When the real problem would be her character. When fans just talks about her clothes, it gives the movie makers a moral highground from real criticism of her characterization.
@@traiforse5777 Read the interview with the head costume designer. She's makes it clear they changed her costume based on really insane hypocritical logic. It's worthy of criticism for why they did it. But it's definitely not at the top of my list of criticisms for why this project is pure cancer.
Ahhhh..yes😌. I found a fellow brethren. I feel everything you said here, and have liked and subscribed. Plus I'll like to add one caveat to what you said. Anime Faye Valentine was a professional on the job. And the best one out of the 3 in the field. Faye just like her outfits and style, could switch from being charming and charismatic (honkey tonk woman , when's she's the dealer). She can be promiscuous (like when she caught the bounty at the ice cream parlor). To being alluring ( when she charmed cowboy Andy). She could be compassionate ( when she was dealing with Gren). But, most times just intelligent because, she secure the most bounties. She let jet and spike chase them till they're tired, and capitalizes on it. As she would just take her time. (the teddy bomber). Being a complex Femme fatale is the very nature of Faye's character. It what's makes her bad ass and beloved. And they missed that mark entirely, by moving away from that.
Yes. Thank you. They ruined my girl. She is my favorite anime character of all time. They could have at least given her a head band and a red slouchy hoodie. And the correct haircut. I was so bummed the entire time I watched the adaption. They gutted her character. What's wrong with being a complex femme fatale? I am a feminist and I saw all those changes they made to her very anti-feminist. They are saying the kind of woman Faye is isn't valid and that's utter fucking garbage.
@@jessjess23brooks89 This is Feminism in action. You're going to have to come to terms with that. All of the Feminist thought leaders pushed the ideology, from the very beginning, to be at this point. You're going to find in reading Feminist theory with a critical eye that it does not allow room for a woman who deviates from their ideals that women can not be sexually appealing to men, or to be complex if that complexity falls outside the tenets of Feminism. Feminism lays out a rather ridged path for women, on that dictates absolute superiority to men, and it leads to a lonely isolated life of bitterness. Because that's what any ideology that priorities identity like gender or race over character or individualism. So yes, they really do believe she wasn't a valid character the way she was originally. They said in an interview they changed her appearance and behavior because as a woman they felt that she was too appealing to men, and that they didn't like that. They changed Julia because they felt she wasn't powerful enough, because they only saw that she was a woman who didn't have as much screen time as a man, and that's all they could see. Not her character, not her traits, not the story around her at all. These are Intersectional Feminists, and they practice what they believe.
@@totalnewb123 They made him an absent father. That's not who Jet is. Jet is all about responsibility. Making Jet a father takes him down an entirely different path in life. He would never have become a bounty hunter.
I think the making Faye into a lesbian is part of the whole woke makeover. They desexualized her clothing so men couldn't enjoy llooking at her, and then made her a lesbian so "hah! Take that straight men! You don't get to like looking at Faye because she wouldn't be interested in you, she belongs to gay women!" Honesrtly I think that is also why they took away so much of her backstory, because right now feminist TV and movies live in dread that a woman will be seen as "weak" or vulnerable, so they make them so nothing affects them emotionally. It means they have contempt for women like Faye, both in how she looks and what kind of person she is.
Look what they did to Julia. They turned her into a psychopath because they felt like that's what makes a woman strong while completely ignoring her original powerful story simply because she didn't get all of the screentime. They're insane cultists.
Faye's original outfit isn't practical for a real-life person to do stunts in! But if anything, the adaptation is less genuinely woke than the anime, because it removed the social commentary present in the original.
@@dangerdash4393 Cool. Have they done stunts for hours over a period of months like would be required on a television set? Also, you have to admit people have been a little bit overdramatic over a costume in an animated show when the adaptation removed all of the social commentary from the original, but a costume that showed more boob is what people are getting obsessed over. Shows how shallow and dumb the fandom is.
@@EliasJWhite The fact that they could do stunts and dance numbers period without any issue or having to constantly fix something is more than enough to call out how bullshit their reasoning is. And it's not just the fact that it's a costume change, it's a complete changing of her character. Faye isn't a "shoot first whilst spitting vulgarity" type of gal, she's a calm and collected con artist, her sex appeal is one of her best weapons, and she uses it without batting an eye. Guns are a last resort, not a greeting. The outfit is literally a representation of the life she lives. It's the first standout thing about Faye, and that's the idea, because she's supposed to be noticeable and attractive, because that's how she operates. And don't you find it just a tad hypocritical that they take issue with her original outfit, yet later on have her wear something much more revealing?
They acted like Faye didn’t have any part in the OG, I remember we’re they were like, Faye is now a “Real Woman” damn if the life adaptation is how they see woman this world is fucked. I don’t know how they pull at creating a more cartoonish woman that the original. Then they go and make her a lesbian cos real strong woman can’t be hetero, no they have to behave like a dude cos if they behave like guys they will look stronger, this PC culture is a cover op for all the racist and homophobics at the industry and if you ain’t seen that, you’re blind. OG Faye is a real woman, damn all the cast of the OG act more like real people that the once in the Live Adaptation, that’s the difference.
They really managed to destroy one of the best characters in the show. Her story arc in the anime was amazing. The costume was ugly, the wig was ass, and the actress herself was a total dweeb. I hope they never do this again.
You're right about how Faye was done dirty. But realize you're looking for logic and reason from Netflix who cursed the world with Death Note and Cuties.
This is 100% how I feel, while I love Jet, Spike, Ed and Ein. Faye was always my favorite and seeing that they completely butchered her character just made me hate this Live action show even more.
it bothers me that this billion dollar company (netflix) has missed the mark in so many ways and you just crushed them w/ this video. thank you. real Bebop fan here from the very beginning. subbed yo
I decided to watch the first episode of Netflix Bebop and I immediately noticed how much Faye swears, I hadn’t seen the original in 5 years and even I knew something was off.
Thanks for the fine review. Faye’s character development in the anime was exceptionally well done. You and Andre (Midnight’s Edge) clearly get that; a lot of other reviewers-not so much. The biggest failure on the live action version was the downright bad writing for Faye. So most of the pathos, nuance, and motivations for the character were lost.
It's like Netflix has no idea what "Femme Fatale" is. Faye is not "Over sexualized," she's hot af, and knows it, and uses it to her advantage. True Faye is not some badass fighter like she's portrayed, she wear's that outfit because it's revealing and uses her attractive features to get what she wants.
I didn't like faye being a lesbian because in the anime there were no signs of her liking woman. They could call this show a different name not Cowboy Bebop and I would of being straight with all the changes.
As a bisexual woman I feel like they conned me into watching the Netflix adaptation because I was so damn curious how they handled her sleeping with another woman and I regret that choice And it really bothers me because IT COULD'VE worked but she literally is not the same person. I was watching it with another queer friend and all we kept saying is "WHO IS THIS CHICK COSPLAYING AS FAYE" because it feels like a horny NOT LIKE OTHER GIRLS teenager cosplaying as her.
Agree...the added new characters became distractions to the story which made Bebop great. If they had just focused on the main 3 with humor...it would have worked better. The actress who played Faye had the face of the character but her whole being was switch to somebody the fans don’t know at all. Though some bits of humor worked really well in the Neflex version.
For me, i dont care if you change the story or outfit, just don't change the character. Thats why i love the anime in the first place. I know its not gonna be good as anime. I just want to be ok.
Thank you bro, the thing that upsets me most about this live-action adaption is the massive change to some of these characters, Faye being the biggest difference, and Gren coming in second to that. Faye in the anime was sneaky, greedy, selfish, a femme fatal, but she had a goal, and real identity issue in figuring out who she once was, it made her such a likable character who had flaws. The live-action variant of her is nothing like that. So you're 100% right, I didn't give a shit about her in the Netflix version. With exception of Jet and just little bits of Spike from this iteration, none of the characters feel like they're from Cowboy Bebop. It might as well be an entirely different show with the same premise, which is kinda what Firefly did years ago. What hurts the most is that Cowboy Bebop has been held by world scale community as being one of the best anime series to ever exist for decades, and to see it be dumbed down in a typical westernized sense of story telling for an audience of 2021, it's being praised by saying: _"It's okay."_ When in reality it's not, it's like someone saying they like to get crazy drunk so they like to mix drinks that's 95% Cola and 5% Whiskey. Whoa, what a crazy party move... It's just mediocre, extremely mediocre in what they did to the story and characters, and it's being praised for it. It's fucked up, and it hurts.
@@Odin69 From a corporate standpoint that's true for a lot of material they stream, look at the change to Evangelion's redub, look a how Sabrina went from a show about a teenage witch to devil worshiping. Look a movie like Cuties involving underage actresses that's still on the platform, like who the hell approves this stuff? Who thought it was okay??? They just pay a studio, and upload the content.
Faye is supposed to be a femme fatale, which is one of the three major issues with the series. Vicious is much worst and what Julia ends up is the 3rd issue. Fix those three aspect and you could have a good tv series, not as good as the anime but good enough. But in the end if you are remaking a classic you have to copy the original source material as closely as possible, as whatever you do it will be compared with the original. If your remake is better than the classic you will get away with it, but the chance of that occurring as close to 0% as its possible to get, so that path is guaranteed to be a failure.
I have to say.. taking the time to watch the series and basically brain dump awareness of the Bebop anime... it's an alright show . Not great, or groundbreaking anywhere. It's alright.... Now mind you this is disregarding any association with the anime.... Keeping the anime in mind this show is bad. The characters all have something changed that makes them not the characters we would expect given the anime source. The changes are then getting highlighted as 'fixes" while being totally oblivious of setting based world building so they can have some real world topic of discussion... On the subject of Faye, I can't stand how there was that whole thing about her costume and sexualization... and then had her basically nude on screen.
The actress for Faye is as arrogant and obnoxious as Brie Larson but the latter won an oscar and starred blockbusters. Pineda only has a self inflated ego
For me the biggest disgrace is Ed, man may be like the Leon The Professional girl, only with red hair, green glasses and more iperactivity, but until now he is this aberration. But as for Faye, my goodness can the platform that allowed MindHunter, Dark and Stranger Things to allow mistakes like this, Faye is one of the most complex and intriguing characters and here they only got the look right. Maybe Cowboy Bebop is still too much anime for Netflix, or any other adapt, maybe Monster by Naoki Urasawa or Blame was better for a Live Action, because I think until they understand the original, they better adapt less playful works like the ones from Urasawa that maybe of something. Or an American series won't handle any manga or anime, even a manga like Me and the devil blues, which is a fiction about Robert Johnson, who talks about the USA in the 30s, won't be able to adapt.
what the f, faye's story isnt the same as the anime's but it is extremely similar, its still all about her memory loss & the tape she gets that makes her emotional and loved by her crew members. The netflix's adaptation of the last episodes were horrendous at times but overall it really wasnt that bad. Its an adaptation, ofc they were going to change some elements and portray some characters differently than others. And again a part from those last episodes, where the ending feels really rushed and we dont understand jet's anger evolution and mood swings, the show is nice. Is it as good as the original ? no, is it a master piece? no but is it a nice sunday show that doesnt deserve hate from thousands of closeted nerds, yes.
If you're gonna adapt something, do it justice and go all out. Anything less is subpar laziness. Just look at the Bleach movie and Alita Battle Angel. Hell, even something as silly as It's Dangerous to Go Alone has a better live action that some actually consider superior to the original.
Pineda may not look like Faye, but she’s pretty. She didn’t need to look like Faye exactly but Faye does have that sex appeal. Pineda is a just a Michelle Rodriguez wannabe.
I didn't think there was ANY sexual tension with Faye and Spike. It was simply 'family' and 'belonging'. Far more powerful. As you said, she realized she did have somewhere she belonged and could trust and part of that was on his way to most likely die and she didn't want that. Didn't think she could take it.
That would have been better. That's a good back story. Netflix loves making women over 35 bad guys so it makes sense they made up a fake mom. They want more women to be seen as villains if they aren't young. Netflix also loves canceling good female lead shows. So . . .I'm not surprised. if HBO did it, it'd be better. Also, I think they made her a lesbian so get MORE male gaze (two women together). They could have just added other characters who are gay. Also, they never make straight male characters gay? Why is that? Spike could have been made bisexual. weird that they never do that. They only take out more women . . . I guess they already hit their female quota and couldn't have more female characters.
This shows off what's wrong with American screenwriting. Overthinking things not that important to the story only to miss the characters and what makes stories unique. It's like they copy and pasted Venom in Spiderman 3 in the place of Vicious. Only 3 episodes in I don't like the direction Julia is going in. Not to mention the second drawing is the original medium it's rare for Americans to escape the 60s Batman camp factor
Wow. Having not seen the anime (I've tried several times, but found it boring), I actually REALLY LIKED the live-action series. I planned to retry the anime as a result, but if there's any chance it'll make people mistake me for a crybaby weeb like this, I'll just wait for Season 2 and enjoy it for what it is instead of whining about what it's not.
Well, the live-action series IS built upon a great anime. So some good parts are likely to stick. I (like you), was also new to Cowboy Bebop. I couldn’t watch it before because I thought the animation and aspect ratio felt dated. Just finished watching the anime on Netflix 2 weeks ago and boy was I wrong…
@@haziqshams The animation in Bebop is out of this world, from an era long gone in anime altogether. I know it's subjective, but I dig Bebop's aesthetics in comparison to what is made nowadays.
Modern adaptations cannot handle ambiguity or standalone elements. Tying Pierrot le Fou to Lucious Malfoy and making Pierrot afraid of dogs not cats just to have Ein in the scene....sigh. That's not smart or clever writing. It's lazy and shows complete lack of creativity.
About the actress not wanting to sexualize Cowboy Bebop : just google Daniella Pineda's name. Most of her personal images shows some revealing cleavage, most of them is sexualized. So her opinion about Faye's outfit is hypocrisy
In the whole ten sessions I can count on one hand the amount of times I laughed out loud, and the same amounts of times I laughed I also groaned and cringed. Most of the music is good, they ruined most of the characters and storyline.
When I was a teenager I that Faye Valentine was so hot and fantasized about her as a real woman. What a disappointment. They better leave Wonder Woman as is. A straight woman that us straight males can fantasize about having a shot with.
Some of the fans are complaining that the cast should be the same as the original material yada yada, you should also complain for ein for not being brown enough. I mean, i enjoyed both anime and the adaptation and I think they did a good job. Not all netflix subscribers are anime nor cowboy bebop's fan, and I think they will enjoy it. Some of the fans are being to critical about every single detail, but at the end of the day I think we all just want to enjoy. They did their best, atleast give them some credit. And if ever they stick to the material solely, some of you will say that it is just a rip off etc. Just enjoy the show, you point things here and there but atleast acknowledge them.
Agree, the character development of Faye sucked. And I didn’t get the cosmonaut joke, someone explain. Really think they could of added or mixed an episode devoted to Faye like did in the Anime.
To be honest Faye sexuality isn't revealed in anime, she is considered bisexual via to the creator and that what they don't understand making a straight lesbian is not true if they just include her interest in both genders it would've been better and non controversial for those who don't know
They tried to make it politically correct - a black character, a lesbian character, a non-binary character; but didn’t care as much for character development
"Faye was overtly sexualized so were trying to change that" why? thats a huge part of her character. Fayes sexuality was a tool she absolutely used without blinking in the anime.
NETFLIX BEBOP WAS NOT BAD ITS NOT 100% GOOD BUT THEIR VERSION OF FAYE WASNT THAT BAD. AT LEAST THIS ANIME LIVE ACTION VERSION OF ANY, WAS DECENT ENOUGH.
If you title your video "Netflix's Cowboy Bebop Is Bad..." maybe you should explain why you hold that opinion instead of rambling on about how Faye is now different. Changing things in an adaption doesn't make it bad, it makes it different. Not to say that the new version is perfect but it annoys me waaay less that the OG. For example, the character dynamics in the OG develop in one episode and are reset the next to the point where every meaningful moment between characters feels pointless. I would also like to say that watching them back to back made me realise how bad the structure was in the OG. The way they offer insight into Spike's past was done infinitely better by Netflix, not only because his GF has a personality, but because the Vicious plot line develops in parallel with our main character's adventures. In the Netflix adaptation we see Vicious making deals to secure his position after the overthrow whereas in the anime it just kind of all happens offscreen at the end of the show without build up.
Nah! Just only ok for me, It's both mixing bad & good for me. Well we have same reaction I just adding another information. The only good was Spike & jet character the actors who played on them really nailed it from og manga & anime. Even the story was good they didn't change it only twisted like example, searat use a virus but instead monkey they became plants. Or phantom story didn't changes only twisted he's more scared to a dog than cats. The only bad & i hate in this adaptation was the wrong writing story of some important character like example Faye she's badass with attitude not spoiled brat, she's not lesbian in both anime & manga. Again i have no hates of lgbtq becoz I'm a bisexual but don't changes there character becoz the fans love there original character. Vicious is a calm character why his always screaming & his not also scared to syndicate. Ed looks like cosplay woman. & last Julia, there is no problem if she's villain here becoz in anime & manga "she's like angel from underworld or the devil from paradise" that's Faye line. But she's not weak, she's not scared to death & She's strong person. But I rather watch this than Death note netflix version or avatar air bender becoz it's worst than bad🤦♀😂. My advise don't expect to much in live action but if u want best Japanese anime live action watch this instead 👉ua-cam.com/video/CMitkBnCWLQ/v-deo.html or if u want western anime mixing live action, this is better 👉ua-cam.com/video/jKhuis7Elb4/v-deo.html

Lol rewatch Bebop and you’ll realize how much a of a bitch she is in the first couple episodes
@@stevennguyen3459 I know she comes off bitchy in the anime but in the live action they mix "bitchy" with just vulgar with no personality lol IMO
@@Ilovegrunge123 the pose isn't an issue lol, it's the woke garbage they put into the show, we don't need retarded woke drama
If that's the case then why did they make sure the lesbian scene was written by a dude?
@@TerrenceNowicki probably because guys watch porn more who knows

There's so much disdain for the source material. They didn't care about the anime, they skimmed it for story points.
Skimmed is such a strong word... they sat in the room with some screen caps on a wall.
Dont worry man the Netflix is just a fanfiction, also I cant believe they made her lesbian
There's a reason why Manga is out selling comics

@@jirrking3461 A reminder that Communists aren't people.
@@korawitbuttramee618 They make him a freak joke.
Yep I knew it was going be bad as Cowboy bebop fan 😔
Not gonna lie even after I saw what Netflix did to Death Note, my favorite anime, I still thought this had the potential to be good… I was wrong :(
@@Odin69 the netflix death note ending was better than the manga/anime at least
When fans just talks about her clothes, it gives the movie makers a moral highground from real criticism of her characterization.
everyone lost their cool and their maturity
Thank you man I really appreciate it! :) yea it’s just insane how bad Netflix destroyed such a beloved character and series
And by not letting Use her Best Weapons 😏(The BFG's)🙄
Yes.
To be fair, I don't think netflix could make a live action Faye good even if they tried.
TBF they ruined everyones character
Facts
Jet was good though.
You don't get to like looking at Faye because she wouldn't be interested in you, she belongs to gay women!"
Honesrtly I think that is also why they took away so much of her backstory, because right now feminist TV and movies live in dread that a woman will be seen as "weak" or vulnerable, so they make them so nothing affects them emotionally.
@@EliasJWhite There are literally videos on youtube of cosplayers doing stunts in the original outfit.
I was kinda ok during the first episode thinking it could have potential and then Faye appeared and I'm like, NO, NO, NOOOOO.
Couldn't see more.
they absolutely went out of their way to ruin faye. but they dont see it as ruining, the see it as fixing. so sad

I decided to watch the first episode of Netflix Bebop and I immediately noticed how much Faye swears, I hadn’t seen the original in 5 years and even I knew something was off.
easily strong and straight to the point opinions on faye. excellent video!
:)
At least Yoko Kanno came back. Made a guitar cover video for the ending theme, The Real Folk Blues.
It's like Netflix has no idea what "Femme Fatale" is. Faye is not "Over sexualized," she's hot af, and knows it, and uses it to her advantage. True Faye is not some badass fighter like she's portrayed, she wear's that outfit because it's revealing and uses her attractive features to get what she wants.
damn, they did my childhood anime no justice at all. lol
I didn't like faye being a lesbian because in the anime there were no signs of her liking woman. They could call this show a different name not Cowboy Bebop and I would of being straight with all the changes.
Isn't every women bisexual or gay in real life
@@itsDjjayyArt 😆
Bebop was the anime that made me invest into Toonami
What hurts the most is that Cowboy Bebop has been held by world scale community as being one of the best anime series to ever exist for decades, and to see it be dumbed down in a typical westernized sense of story telling for an audience of 2021, it's being praised by saying:
_"It's okay."_
When in reality it's not, it's like someone saying they like to get crazy drunk so they like to mix drinks that's 95% Cola and 5% Whiskey. Whoa, what a crazy party move...
It's just mediocre, extremely mediocre in what they did to the story and characters, and it's being praised for it.
It's fucked up, and it hurts.
It feels like Netflix legit had no idea what they were doing when they were making this
@@Odin69 From a corporate standpoint that's true for a lot of material they stream, look at the change to Evangelion's redub, look a how Sabrina went from a show about a teenage witch to devil worshiping.
Look a movie like Cuties involving underage actresses that's still on the platform, like who the hell approves this stuff? Who thought it was okay???
They just pay a studio, and upload the content.
Yea that Cutie movie still blows my mind to this day the fact that it was made is insane
Netflix went for the tone of power rangers. When they should have gone with Firefly
Hell, even something as silly as It's Dangerous to Go Alone has a better live action that some actually consider superior to the original.
can anybody tell me what that stuff was that faye touched on that tree? it's a scene from the trailer
Either tree sap or semen
Daniella Pineda not a bad actress, she was given a terrible script though.
Omg…you are so spot on!
Yep. You said it all.
This is a good reminder of how much I enjoyed watching cowboy bebop. I think I’ll rewatch it now.
This is a good take brodie 🤙🏽 #longlivedareal

Yeah Netflix was rushing Faye and Spike's past stories.
This is why this got canceled and they’re trying to petition petitioning it to get it back on no
Netflix makes every character gay. They’ve been taking notes from J.K. Rowling.
I'm not going to get into Faye's costume. But I'm going to get into to Faye's costume first... Lol

I like feys backside too, I mean back story.
I miss her being the black widow with a heart of gold, not an edge teen in space.
She isn't Faye. Its Harley Quinn.
I bet the actress now wishes she had never done her rant video lol
Hahahahahah.... Look at the main chara is so old! NO, I cant see eps 2
they couldve done it in season 2 if its wasnt fricken cancelled
Agree, the character development of Faye sucked. And I didn’t get the cosmonaut joke, someone explain. Really think they could of added or mixed an episode devoted to Faye like did in the Anime.
Writers and direction… That where Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop went wrong… Dialogue was cheesy and the plot was discombobulated.
yea its all to fit the narrative of todays world . even the death note adaptation was whack!
Also there was no charisma in the hero's eyes like it did in the anime 😑
Lets just bury this live action poop and never talk about it
To be honest Faye sexuality isn't revealed in anime, she is considered bisexual via to the creator and that what they don't understand making a straight lesbian is not true if they just include her interest in both genders it would've been better and non controversial for those who don't know
Faye? She’s ok. Vicious is ..omg that’s messed ip
They tried to make it politically correct - a black character, a lesbian character, a non-binary character; but didn’t care as much for character development
I hate Netflix and Pinaeda for ruining Faye
"Faye was overtly sexualized so were trying to change that" why? thats a huge part of her character. Fayes sexuality was a tool she absolutely used without blinking in the anime.
I hate the disdain for source material
NETFLIX BEBOP WAS NOT BAD ITS NOT 100% GOOD BUT THEIR VERSION OF FAYE WASNT THAT BAD. AT LEAST THIS ANIME LIVE ACTION VERSION OF ANY, WAS DECENT ENOUGH.
I had heard Faye was bisexual, not a lesbian, but i haven't seen the show, so what do i know.
Hahaha. Its not over guys. Get ready for one piece and yuyu hakusho netflix adaptation.🤣
It was nice of you to so generous to the actress, because she honestly did a bad job and is not very good in general imo
They didn’t needed to do that.
american
lets make our film featured black, white, LGBT, gay, and women empowerment
i bet they will love it
If you title your video "Netflix's Cowboy Bebop Is Bad..." maybe you should explain why you hold that opinion instead of rambling on about how Faye is now different.
I'm gonna send this to everyone saying her character is fine and the outfit doesn't matter.
:) 👍
My advise don't expect to much in live action but if u want best Japanese anime live action watch this instead
