if you liked the story in this show I really think you should give the game a chance. The game was buggy at launch but it was blow out of proportion and really no more buggy than something like a Bethesda rpg or Ubisoft game but the difference is that CDPR actually took the time to fix it. Not claiming the game is perfect but I would say it is definitely worth a try.
The game didn't deliver on many of the promises they set out, along with other shady tactics during the review embargo. It's fine to recommend the game, but don't pretend the criticism they received was "blown out of proportion". It was a dumpster fire given the amount of money, crunch and expectations this game had. @@lello2031 Then again it was released earlier than intended to apparently because of pressure from stockholders. Guess it’s why a developer like rockstar games never hint to their games and will take their time no matter what hence no gta 6 in nearly decade and not even a trailer in a decade.
@@lello2031 I simply don't agree, the game wasn't perfect like I said but I stand by that the criticism was blown out of proportion and while the game didn't deliver on some things as well as it could have the majority of the "empty promises" were just stuff people wanted that were never actually promised. I can't speak on the review embargo because I know nothing about it and I'm not going to pretend to for the sake of my argument. Either way I think the game that CDPR delivered is better than 99% of what is released by triple a studios anymore. @@lello2031 Gotta disagree, I also played at launch and even till this day people pretend that Cyberpunk is the worst game made in the last decade. As far as bugs go, at least on PC, it was way blown out of proportion. You still find people spreading false information saying it was/is unplayable. My experience was smooth and I realize that my experience alone doesn't represent everyone else's experience, but the same can be said for those that did experience bugs - many people had a near flawless if not flawless experience. Yes it under-delivered on what was promised and that's unfortunate, but for someone that didn't follow any hype and went in blind, it was still a fantastic game.
Commissioning studio trigger was the right call tbh. Their portfolio's visual aesthetics was a great fit. Another option would've been shaft with Akiyuki Shinbo as director. That certainly would've led to a very interesting outcome.
I think Ufotable would have also been an excellent choice in terms of animation quality. That being said, Trigger can’t be matched when it comes to mixing vibrance and details😤. This show is almost unanimously well received. It will go down as a gem of this decade.
Almost everything Trigger pumps out is solid gold. Following the canon of the series they're working on is one important thing, but so long as they were given enough freedoms to do what they wanted with the plot, and the characters -- which they were, happily -- odds are that they're gonna ball with them.
@@TsukatsukiRio Yes, here in the comments. Giving feedback, should be valuable to up and coming UA-camrs trying to break into "video essay" space. Using lines like " Hurr durr if you don't like what I like - you're stupid" are cringe and don't show particularly mature writing skills.
Despite Cyberpunks launch it still has one of the best open world vibes and some great story telling. i hadnt played for a long time since i seen edgerunners. Now is the best time to play! c; The game compliments the anime very well and vice versa. Helps you understand this amazing world
The whole Cyberpunk world created by Mike Pondsmith is absolutely one of my favorite worlds, ever. CP2020 was my first TTRPG and I’m glad Edgerunners picked up where 2077 stumbled (despite the fact that 2077 still has a pretty great story).
If you liked the anime, you should definitely give the game a try. CDPR have massively fixed it and you really get to see the way how the anime mirrors the game which really makes it so immersive 🤩
If you liked the game, you might want to give the tabletop RPG everything is based on a try (if you haven't already). Mike Pondsmith knows how to make a game world.
@@kid4today1085 it’s really your luck tbh i have the game on CDPR’s launcher and I’ve seen bugs for sure but nothing gamebreaking. I do however run mods
I have the game on pc. It's really, really good. My expectations were floor low because of all the hate and I was totally blown away. The music, the story and the characters are 10/10. The gameplay is fun. And I loved the freedom they gave you with the missions.
Cyberpunk Edgerunners blew away everyone's expectations and rightfully so. From emotions being felt and each character becoming apart of the watcher so quickly truly deserves all the credit it receives.
The best thing about the OST is that most of the songs are from the game. You can actually listen to it in your car on the radio randomly. Or if you have PC, mods can have them all on their own station
I think shortness of the anime is just perfect representation of cyberpunk life. System and society fucks you up in every possible aspect, but instead crawling into the dumpster to accept your misery and die quietly you show the world your middle fingers, crew up with other trash like yourself, start dealing illegall stuff, chipinn' in, all in goal to get dissent life and world to notice you. But in the end you burnout or bite more than you could chew ending your blazing way of cyberpunk in the dumpster as a pile of rotten meat and broken chrome. Fast and flashy.
I figured it'd be good since I played the game. Despite bugs or whatever, the game itself is deep and has great stories and atmosphere. I didn't expect it to be THIS good though. Also, the OST is mostly from the game.
I just love the self-awareness of this show! 5:08 When the light switches at that moment, in this location in the game there was a glitched car chase quest and after passing that point the weather and daytime instantly changed. Also in one episode, there was a line wondering about cops popping up out of nowhere, which also used to be a thing in the game.
Ever notice in scenes with characters up close they have their own coloured lighting, so when Lucy and David were falling from Arasaka tower, you see the Green for David and the Purple for Lucy on both of them, symbolizing how one is so intwined with the other
if it had an episode or 2 more to spread the beginning and Davids fall into major croming a bit more this would be one of the best anime in the last couple years
The anime was packed to the brim, It really could've done with more episodes to flesh out the relationships between characters. It was hard to really care for most of the side cast, Becca, Becca's bro (see i don't even remember his name), Maine, and Lucy too. there was barely anything to really get to know them. I felt like Lucy's backstory was pity bait, with not a lot to it. David was the only one that was remotely flashed out and that's only because we've been following him the whole show through. If you look at trigger's other works, like kill la kill or (especially)guren lagann, and even BNA. They have all done this much better, and i think that edge runners severely lacks in this regard solely because of the 10 episode limit.
Night City is naturally a fast-paced, chaotic mess. It would be a disservice to the game to slow it down for the sake of exposition. You can’t expect to know everything about everyone in a game that focuses on a beautiful, but painfully cruel reality.
If you played the game BEFORE watching anime, I think you would agree that they just PACKED it with details of world-building that already were establish by the game, hence, those who didn't play ask for "20 more minutes to world-build", while those who played got a non-stop dive in the world they already knew. It PACKED. every location you recognize one way or the other, every implant, corporation wars, weapons, concepts, HUDs, hacks, etc. just do yourself a favor and play the game before watching, of rewatch it after finishing the game, look at the anime from new perspective
No. It was perfectly paced. If it was longer it would be different, not necessarily better but not worse either. This is just the format they chose and the length does not detract from the quality any bit. Flawless masterpiece.
You guys need to stop fanboying. Yeah it’s probably a 10/10 of perfectly replicating the world of cyberpunk. But on its own how would it be rated? Not that good. The fast pacing you really like is a really bad thing in anime. The story is lame and characters are lame. I liked David but yet I never cared less for a characters death. I like the anime but it’s not nearly a masterpiece and it is way too overhyped.
@@xKipura As a one-off it works quite well. Sure it may be overhyped, but even on a bad day or without knowledge of the cyberpunk universe, I would still rate this show an 8/10. The things it excels at, are nigh perfect. Color balancing, use of vibrant highlights, animations (mostly), excellent action scenes, and killer soundtracks. The pacing and character development are really it’s only major weaknesses.
If you want to hear option from random guy, catch: I think there is like 10 mins lost between ep6 and ep7 why ? Because we can't see David's decision why he even decided to go further and further with chrome, he just skipped forward, "new" driver got bigger role, and David took part (literally too) of maine role is squad. I'm just missing aftermath of episode 6, all that grief, anger, and surprise from crew, after 6th episode.
having played the game totally enhanced experienced by like 10 fold. and in return enhances the game. it was just really great recognizing people and places I've visited in the game
Lol my wife walked in towards the end of episode 10 and asked why my face looked the way it did. I'm trying not to cry in front of your ass, woman! Shit!🤣
the thing your misunderstanding, about the plot, is that they are edgerunners. the purpose of a edgerunner is literally to push it as far as they can, run against the edge of the cliff that is their downfall, and see how far they can take it. in davids case, literally was a one man army who devastated Miltech and Arasaka special forces, all while riding the line of cyberpsychosis, just to save lucy. this made him into a nightcity legend, and having a drink named after him in the afterlife.
I'd really recommend the game, truth be told it wasn't any buggier then a Bethesda game on release and currently its in a pretty solid state. Though provoking story with 10 outta 10 characters
Maaan, Odin, It's gonna be hard to pick which is Anime of the Year 2022: Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2, Chainsaw Man, Mob Psycho III, or even Bleach TYBW.
I wasn't expecting Netflix to get another animation banger so quick after Arcane, funny enough both weren't made by Netflix it only has the brand name lol
The entire ost is music that on the radio in game so while playing you can just get “i really wanna stay at you’re house” while just cruising around in a car or motorcycle
You should give the game a shot again. The core gameplay, story, and characters are absolutely incredible, and it's been pretty much bug-free since path 1.5 back in February and has only gotten better since. CDPR has just added even more content with the edgerunners update and they have a very promising roadmap for the future of the game. Also if you have it on PC there are so many mods that make the game even better and more immersive
It was a diamond in the rough before and now its the hope diamond. I had the perspective of playing the game and then the anime and I appreciated it. But getting into the anime and THEN playing the polished game? You're in for a privilege.
The game is what sets up the plot and lore. You don't have to of played the game to understand the anime, but a lot of the aspects of lore and machinery and cyber psychosis and concepts are things explored and used in the game where you are given a formal introduction. I think it was expected to an extent that people excited for the show would have played the game and I don't think they could've banked on it being as big as it was, I even thought it wouldn't be all that great at first as it was a video game anime. I do recommend the game because I personally enjoyed the game despite the bugs, but they've put out patches and DLC since then addressing many problems. And the show, I liked the somewhat lack of a plot. It goes to what you said about the anime being and feeling more real and impactful, real life just flows and doesn't always have a solid plot. I really enjoyed the show and game, CD Project Red and Trigger have come together to create a really interesting and cool world. If they can do it good, I'd love to see more stories in the anime in different seasons covering different people and different walks of life in NC. Edit: and a good thing to note is this story is canon in the universe and game. You can find characters apartments and other locations specific to the show in game. Adam Smasher and some of the mentioned characters and fixers are in game too.
It's weird....Netflix doing adaptations can be....or.....god awful (Deathnote, Resident Evil, Cowboy Bebop).................or the absolute PEEK of awesomeness (Castlevania, Arcane and now Cyberpunk), looks like somehow Netflix doing series based of Videogames and adapting them into ANIMATION is the winning formula so far, this show just blow me away of how godtier good it was, been badass, funny and super heart breaking emotional when it need it, probably and at least for me, this is my favorite Studio Trigger work so far.
This wasn't done by "Netflix" internally, it was done by Trigger and overseen by CDPR (the game's developer) Netflix just bought the rights to broadcast it or whatever. Also, while this good, people claiming it's better then Kill la Kill are suffering from regency bias.
@@takanara7 Just re-watched Kill La Kill a few weeks ago. Having watched all of their works prior to this release as well, I can say this really is their finest creation.
1:27 That is called "Braindance" in the Cyberpunk universe, it's like a record of somebody's senses replayed in your brain from that person's perspective.
As someone who knows the intricacies of the game's world and lore, it's really nice to see someone who knows nothing about it appreciating all the details that are included in the show. Like the phone calls and the character designs etc. Also, as someone not particularly invested in anime, it was nice to see an analysis from someone who knows as much about anime as I do about the game, and it's nice to hear that you consider this little show a masterpiece. This show blew my mind and broke my heart, so as you'd expect, I went around watching all the analysis videos I could find, and honestly, I think yours is leagues above every other one I've watched. Honestly, thank you for uploading this, amazing work.
@@Odin69 it isn't perfect but still lots of fun, especially after the updates. and night city ingame is just as much a vibe as it is in the anime, like a mad mix of tokyo and detroit (pew pew). also, pretty much everything in the anime is game accurate, from guns to locations, they did an incredible job replicating it. and most of the music from the anime is actually ingame. defo worth a try, 2077 is peaking on steam rn, probably the best time to get into it tbh. then again, i already love it and its a polish game so I'm biased.
Every time I Really Want to Stay at Your House started playing genuinely made me wanna cry especially that ending; this entire anime is just a good solid watch.
I grew up in the era when OG dragon ball Z, Akira, Vampire Hunter D, Ghost in the shell, etc etc. To me the that was the golden age of anime. Edgerunners is that damn good. It'll go down in history as one of those greats in my opinion.
NGL i felt exactly the same hahah , im actually looking for vids like this to see if im not the only one who tought that was "the best anime of 2022" at least tho.
The scene in episode 2 is a Cyberpunk technology known as a Braindance. Braindances are a form of virtual reality, where everything was recorded by someone at some time. Most Braindances are used for personal pleasure (night club style), but you can get some that are far more relaxed and peaceful. The Brain dance acts in a similar way to the vr headsets from Sword Art Online, where all of your senses are translated into the video feed. Most times your perspective is that of the person who recorded the Braindance, however sometimes it can be captured from a video camera. The fact that they were on the moon means that either someone had recorded themselves being on the moon, or that a camera had picked up the surface of the moon, and allowed for a Braindance to be created. The Braindance is such a clever part of the game, and I was impressed with how it was factored into the story as a way to solve certain mysteries, and how it was useful for side quests too, not just a one and done deal. As a fan of the game, the anime did a fantastic job.
@@Odin69 the game is good since 1.5 and in 1.6 they even added a transmog System (before that you looked like a hobo if you where min maxing) and a Lot of other good improvments. New content (Gigs and Stuff like that) genraly speaking if you never played the game before and dont have 295 houers in it now is a good time to start. Yeah before 1.6 I already had 195 houers in it driving around making cool totaly busted bulds doing the target Analysis money farm.
I looked at it and personally it feels like David is the plot, his life, his mistakes, his friends, his dreams, all of it made it so watchable. The first episode set the tone of the world of cyberpunk's night city, A slum capital that has given up on itself, the poor fight and die easily whilst the rich live a relatively peaceful life. Cybernetics a blessing but also a curse as people chrome themselves to oblivion and lose themselves in night city. The best blessing is Studio trigger doing Gantz, Biomega, or a longer Cyberpunk foray into maybe the corporate wars and the veterans that came spilling out afterwards.
all the small little details get so much better if you’ve played the game, calls, bd’s (how they simulated the moon) and netrunning are all EXACTLY like the game, it fits so well, the game is one of my top 3’s, love to see attention for it
Bro, anime adaptation from a video game or a movie that is made by one of the best studio ever, Studio Trigger, is absolutely a must-watch anime even if I didn't know what cyberpunk is.
Man I swear nobody ever mentions Gantz Ever super underrated 😤 thank you for being one of the very small number of creators that puts some spotlight on that series !!! Overall I enjoyed the video and I think maybe 2 more episodes would of been good alil more of the love triangle being flushed out so that when the Rebecca scenes towards the end happen they rip into you just that much deeper !!
Playing the game first really add a lot to the experience. So much info can be understood if you know the lore from the game. Hell, you can even know how it would probably end for david from the beginning.
It's only flaw was that the series was too short, and felt kind of rushed after the timeskip, but I would say it picked up at the last 2 episodes which just hit me in the feels so hard.
2:54 gave me vibes of the CLASSIC cyberpunk animes that i really wanted to see, Reminded me of bubble gum crysis, akira and a tiny bit of ghost in the shell
Ghost in the shell has always been an inspiration of Cyberpunk. There's a cyberpsyco in the game that looks like Major. And another character that has a tattoo of a ghost coming out of a shell.
Yes, studio Trigger should do Gantz. Sadly I think Gantz is getting older now and few understand how amazing of a manga it truly is after a somewhat disappointing original anime adaptation.
I have to admit it you are right and I am almost 50, its a great anime, most people can watch and find something in it, the directing is wicked, the drawings are simply amazing, the editing is great and the OST is simply superb and a nice deviation from the usual Japanese pop game. Maybe its even a new benchmark for action anime and I really hope that it revives the cyberpunk genre because it has a lot offer. Cheers.
I’m just happy people get to experience the Cyberpunk Universe and I hope this positive press will lead to a sequel game and they go all out and not be held back by hardware ( and add a little bit of that Trigger flavor)
Great Anime imo, especially for me who sunk over 500h into CP2077 digging deep into the lore and discovering all of the little details an easter eggs I really appreciate what studio Trigger has done here. I feel like the visual adaptation they have done here is second to none. The art style is very faithful to the game and every detail from the UI overlay to the different menu pages perfectly woven into the picture at certain points is gorgeously executed yet the whole animation style is fresh and stylish. Such a nice symbiosis of known elements with a few distinct twists. Truly a Masterpiece!
The Song you are talking about is I REALLY WANT TO STAY AT YOUR HOUSE by Rosa Walton & Hallie Coggins it was released 1 year ago. And in the game at Afterlife Bar significant place in the game and also shown in the anime has a drink named "The David Martinez" people were confused who he was before and now we know he was a legend.
The songs are from the game itself and there are other good songs which they did not add in the anime but i highly recommend to play the game because the story is actually good if u keep the bugs aside which they r fixing after every update
Animation, music, world building, colour scheme, action was great but the dialogue really brought it down for me. Only characters dialogue I enjoyed was Faraday and that's more because Giancarlo has the most villainous voice in history he's just amazing and he can do no wrong.
As for the plot... The plot is the city. It sucks you in and you're just along for the ride. When you play the game you'll understand what I mean. Things can spiral when you least expect it.
My favorite thing was how they portrayed Cyberpsychosis in the anime, there are questlines in the game that involve fighting Cyberpsychos, but you never get to understand them completely you know? You can find documents, piece together their background and understand their tragic stories, but otherwise they are just another enemy you might not think about if you don't read much into it. The anime nailed it, you can only imagine what kind of hell they are going through inside of their heads, makes their current state all the more tragic and painful, fighting them feels like an act of mercy.
And now i want to see what peak smasher vs v looked like. How did canon v (either semi moded but mostly none invasive and internal or vary lightly cromed) beat that monster that is smasher, plus the rampage before it. now that we know just how vicical it actually gets in combat. V must have walked up to smasher just drenched in blood
I think the anime had 1 original Music, the rest is from Cyberpunk 2077 original ost. But that doesnt take away the execution that the anime did with them. *SPOILERS* I agreed, so far the best anime this year, even tho the history tries to show David as a protagonist, the true protagonist is Night City, showing that a brilliant mind such as David, that had a simple lifestyle, not being accepted into the corporate starter pack, made his decend into cyberpsycosis, diving deeper into the crome dopamine using others dreams as a excuse to not accepting being downgraded.
well, if it helps sell you to the game, all music apart from the opening and ending, they're all from the game. the braindance tech that lets them 'perceive' the surface of the moon like super vr, lucy and kiwi's hacking interface, david's sandevistan, maine's arm-mounted launcher, the locations, the very user interface and fonts used in the anime. they're all from the game, replicated 1:1. helps sell the idea that edgerunners and 2077 are both in the same universe. there are even characters from the game that show up in the show and vice versa. lastly, david's jacket and becca's shotgun are both obtainable equipment. and trust me, becca's shotgun will be necessary for the final act for some sweet sweet vengeance.
I found people hating on the last 4 episodes. HOW THE FUCK? Thats one of the best fucking endings I've ever fucking seen. I've been through alot of shit in my life and that show fucked me up but In a good way.
After playing the game you already understand a lot of what is happening in the anime. You literally have missions in the game where you hunt down cyber-psychos.
Night City is often joked as "The City of Dreams" and Edgerunners truly captures that bittersweet irony from beginning to end. It encapsulates everything raw and unfiltered about living in that world and how the human connections shine the brightest through the dirt, rust, and disdain. But like all great adaptations, you've really got to dive into the source material to see the full scope of what the creator's vision was.
Song: I really want to stay at your house. (Me before Edgerunners: "that's a pretty cool song, it's got a good vibe" Me after Edgerunners: literally crying the sh*t out of my eyes) STOLEN

The anime hit me really hard I will admit I cried a bunch, decided to get the game when it was on sale and I absolutely love it. As weird as it is this anime will have a spot in my heart and I’m not a big anime person tbh.
6:55 to expand on this: I'd like to argue that the plot, is not just non-existent, but is a cliche (For example, David's mother in episode 1, the whole working tirelessly just to make a living, David fighting back the bully, he comes back with a "wow superpower" and beats the bully up and the audience is amazed by the MC power). That said, a cliche is a trope that is used over and over again until it becomes unoriginal. While the plot has unoriginal ideas, the director and story writers' execution of these tropes are fucking phenomenal, that it loops back into original territory and becomes satisfying as hell. That's just expanding on your comment in 6:55
the success of this anime we all know a season two is coming most likely Netflix pays well lol hopefully the animators don’t hold back we might get a trauma team arc
It’s funny you played the Charlie clip because his Edgerunners moist meter is the only reason I picked up the show and holy shit he couldn’t have been more right. The world, the slang, the music, the characters, the fuckin UI pulled straight from the game? Fuckin amazing. Seeing how David was a street kid, I hope season two gives us a Nomad story while season three ends the series off with a corpo story.
Im a hardcore Bleach Fan and im genuinely hyped for TYBW in a few weeks but man....Edge Runners was just too good. Part 1 of TYBW aint beating it. A damn master piece and deadass in my top 20 of all time
Idk if anyone realizes but David was 17 when his mom died and according to the online lore he died at 17 so the whole 10 episodes is in the space of less than a year
Whenever UA-cam or journalists call an anime on Netflix a masterpiece it is either hilarious or Traumatizes me deeply or both. There is absolutely no ducking middle ground…

*TTRPG
Still full of bugs... but there's a charm to it :P
Kinda a problem when “I Really Wanna Stay” comes in tho. How am I supposed to drive when I can barely see through the tears😭.
@@idofx8722 Bro it came on when I was driving yesterday and I had to stop because the emotions came raging through. Gawd dammit
At least Lucy made it to the moon. Night City couldn't get her. 🥲
@@xecutioneralpha-2273 NC may be not but arasaka would definitely chase here.
I figured it'd be good since I played the game. Despite bugs or whatever, the game itself is deep and has great stories and atmosphere. I didn't expect it to be THIS good though.
Also, the OST is mostly from the game.
Edgerunners broke my heart
Even though i expected the ending it still hit so hard and the songs also stuck in my head too 😭😭
Now imagine someone who didn’t expect the ending, that was me. Literally destroyed me at the end.
I went through alot of trauma in my life and that show just hit me at all the spots at the same time. That show helped me out.
Lucy is waifu of the year for me, no question about it
W take, she actually might be
Chansawman is yet to come out, mind you
You right 😏
Amen
I just love the self-awareness of this show! 5:08 When the light switches at that moment, in this location in the game there was a glitched car chase quest and after passing that point the weather and daytime instantly changed. Also in one episode, there was a line wondering about cops popping up out of nowhere, which also used to be a thing in the game.
Ever notice in scenes with characters up close they have their own coloured lighting, so when Lucy and David were falling from Arasaka tower, you see the Green for David and the Purple for Lucy on both of them, symbolizing how one is so intwined with the other
Trigger’s Magnum Opus, and one of the greatest slam-dunk, spread-like-wildfire shows of this decade.
if it had an episode or 2 more to spread the beginning and Davids fall into major croming a bit more this would be one of the best anime in the last couple years
Yea I agree one more episode would have made this anime flawless imo
@@Odin69
This anime is ready flawless. Another episode was not needed, the story is perfectly paced.
I think it’s close to being a masterpiece if they have a little more time for exposition it would have that 10/10. It is a 9/10 tho.
^This 💯
No. It was perfectly paced. If it was longer it would be different, not necessarily better but not worse either. This is just the format they chose and the length does not detract from the quality any bit. Flawless masterpiece.
Having come from the game, I can say that this pacing is a natural part of Night City. Ultimately I wouldn’t have this show any other way.
For me its the best anime I ever watched 10/10.
Who would have thought Poland+Japan=masterpiece
If you want to hear option from random guy, catch:
I think there is like 10 mins lost between ep6 and ep7 why ? Because we can't see David's decision why he even decided to go further and further with chrome, he just skipped forward, "new" driver got bigger role, and David took part (literally too) of maine role is squad.
I'm just missing aftermath of episode 6, all that grief, anger, and surprise from crew, after 6th episode.

@@nicolasferreiro4492 maybe so! I'd be happy to do commercials!🤣
the thing your misunderstanding, about the plot, is that they are edgerunners. the purpose of a edgerunner is literally to push it as far as they can, run against the edge of the cliff that is their downfall, and see how far they can take it. in davids case, literally was a one man army who devastated Miltech and Arasaka special forces, all while riding the line of cyberpsychosis, just to save lucy. this made him into a nightcity legend, and having a drink named after him in the afterlife.
very well put!
I like is anime beautiful animation amazing story and character too 10/10
I'd really recommend the game, truth be told it wasn't any buggier then a Bethesda game on release and currently its in a pretty solid state.
The gameplay sucks. But the writing and characters are so full of passion and heart, it's definitely worth it to experience.
The anime is an example how the game should be. Tragic.

Oh boy, just you wait to play the game and have PTSD while driving.
Everyone know what song you talking about crying too 😭😭🥺
The scene in episode 2 is a Cyberpunk technology known as a Braindance.
Never played the video game, but the anime went up there with a few of my fav anime.
And there are like 5 of them.
The anime was so good it made me want to play the video game even if it’s still bad
@@Odin69 the game is good since 1.5 and in 1.6 they even added a transmog System (before that you looked like a hobo if you where min maxing) and a Lot of other good improvments. Yeah before 1.6 I already had 195 houers in it driving around making cool totaly busted bulds doing the target Analysis money farm.
the second part of the ending song just hit me different, it gives you the typical ending vibes.
As someone who has never been into Anime but actually loved Cyberpunk 2077...this may be what actually gets me into Anime.
Cheers.
Ayy another BLAME! Fan! Less gooo.
Btw I think there was a BLAME! OVA, but I could be wrong.

I’m just happy people get to experience the Cyberpunk Universe and I hope this positive press will lead to a sequel game and they go all out and not be held back by hardware ( and add a little bit of that Trigger flavor)
I legit still cry when I really wanna stay at your house comes on the radio in-game
Great Anime imo,
especially for me who sunk over 500h into CP2077 digging deep into the lore and discovering all of the little details an easter eggs I really appreciate what studio Trigger has done here.
The songs are from the game itself and there are other good songs which they did not add in the anime but i highly recommend to play the game because the story is actually good if u keep the bugs aside which they r fixing after every update
fr dude such a masterpiece
Animation, music, world building, colour scheme, action was great but the dialogue really brought it down for me. Only characters dialogue I enjoyed was Faraday and that's more because Giancarlo has the most villainous voice in history he's just amazing and he can do no wrong.
As for the plot... The plot is the city. It sucks you in and you're just along for the ride.
When you play the game you'll understand what I mean. Things can spiral when you least expect it.
jesus christ my guy, i had to check the video wasnt sped up kekw, great video regardless

@@Odin69 regardless a bless take! Keep up the good work!
Cyberpunk 2077 goes deeper into the corporate plots, and conspiracies, even you are part of one and it goes DEEP into it
Loved the show! Was so fresh and new and kinda reminded me of life today. Dirty and dangerous, but full of life and love if you look for it

Everybody gangsta till David dies to Adam smasher
A few weeks later: everyone kills terrorizes Adam
If Summer Time Rendering will have a good end I would say it will be better. Very different show tho so it depends on your taste.
"anime of the year (so far)" XD laughed so hard
And now i want to see what peak smasher vs v looked like. How did canon v (either semi moded but mostly none invasive and internal or vary lightly cromed) beat that monster that is smasher, plus the rampage before it. now that we know just how vicical it actually gets in combat. V must have walked up to smasher just drenched in blood
God I love this show so much. I just hate endings that make me feel sad for weeks
love this so much!!
I think the anime had 1 original Music, the rest is from Cyberpunk 2077 original ost. But that doesnt take away the execution that the anime did with them.
*SPOILERS*
I agreed, so far the best anime this year, even tho the history tries to show David as a protagonist, the true protagonist is Night City, showing that a brilliant mind such as David, that had a simple lifestyle, not being accepted into the corporate starter pack, made his decend into cyberpsycosis, diving deeper into the crome dopamine using others dreams as a excuse to not accepting being downgraded.
it also had an original score by Akira Yamaoka (silent hill composer) on top of the songs by Dawid Podsiadlo
well, if it helps sell you to the game, all music apart from the opening and ending, they're all from the game. the braindance tech that lets them 'perceive' the surface of the moon like super vr, lucy and kiwi's hacking interface, david's sandevistan, maine's arm-mounted launcher, the locations, the very user interface and fonts used in the anime. they're all from the game, replicated 1:1. helps sell the idea that edgerunners and 2077 are both in the same universe. there are even characters from the game that show up in the show and vice versa. lastly, david's jacket and becca's shotgun are both obtainable equipment. and trust me, becca's shotgun will be necessary for the final act for some sweet sweet vengeance.
That final act of vengeance is what Johnny's pistol is for tho.
@@directrulefromgamerchair3947 The pistol is for the finisher, the shotgun is for the fight.
Damn straight
I found people hating on the last 4 episodes. HOW THE FUCK? Thats one of the best fucking endings I've ever fucking seen. I've been through alot of shit in my life and that show fucked me up but In a good way.
After playing the game you already understand a lot of what is happening in the anime. You literally have missions in the game where you hunt down cyber-psychos.
the ost is mostly from the game's actual radio song way before the anime. it was meant to be like that for lore continuity.
(Me before Edgerunners: "that's a pretty cool song, it's got a good vibe"
Me after Edgerunners: literally crying the sh*t out of my eyes) STOLEN
Literally
I can't believe I didn't notice the similarities with Blame! until now. You're 100% right, they drew so much inspiration from it.

The anime hit me really hard I will admit I cried a bunch, decided to get the game when it was on sale and I absolutely love it. As weird as it is this anime will have a spot in my heart and I’m not a big anime person tbh.
6:55 to expand on this:
I'd like to argue that the plot, is not just non-existent, but is a cliche (For example, David's mother in episode 1, the whole working tirelessly just to make a living, David fighting back the bully, he comes back with a "wow superpower" and beats the bully up and the audience is amazed by the MC power). That said, a cliche is a trope that is used over and over again until it becomes unoriginal. While the plot has unoriginal ideas, the director and story writers' execution of these tropes are fucking phenomenal, that it loops back into original territory and becomes satisfying as hell.
That's just expanding on your comment in 6:55
I don’t understand who are Lucy killing after ep6 before she got captured
the success of this anime we all know a season two is coming most likely Netflix pays well lol hopefully the animators don’t hold back we might get a trauma team arc
The song that makes u cry is called “I really want to stay at your house”
Im a hardcore Bleach Fan and im genuinely hyped for TYBW in a few weeks but man....Edge Runners was just too good. Part 1 of TYBW aint beating it. A damn master piece and deadass in my top 20 of all time
I'm from the future and this Anime won anime of the year. Well deserved
Prolly would have never picked up the game if it wasn’t for the anime but I just finished my first play-through yesterday and I was loving it
A rocky start doesn't detract that Cyberpunk 2077 is still an amazing game
Idk if anyone realizes but David was 17 when his mom died and according to the online lore he died at 17 so the whole 10 episodes is in the space of less than a year
Finished the game a few days ago after watching the anime, literal only complaint is that the story mode was shorter than expected
Episode 2 made the show for me when they where on the moon. It was so breathtaking
Episode six was indeed a masterpiece
Whenever UA-cam or journalists call an anime on Netflix a masterpiece it is either hilarious or Traumatizes me deeply or both.
There is absolutely no ducking middle ground…
