@@scribblz125 I don't think so. Relative strength of alliances was far too high on the AI's side to be scared. Does that modifier not take into consideration the coalition target's allies, like the name suggests? I believe it had to have been some load game shenanigans.
Could the ai for coalition declaring be biased against doing it with large states? I don't get coalitions often, not my style, but when I have it's always a small guy that declares. There's pretty much only medium & large states left here.
No way in heck this is real. How can you conquer all of Germany AS THEODORO and not core your provinces, not change your religion when there’s that many different religions in your land also without converting ALSO without Religious or Humanist ideas, and also taking no burgher loans to top it all off.
Looks like they no-CB'd east frisia at game start, then subjugated them, then diplo annexed them and joined the empire. Good at micro, awful at macro. Also for sure bugged out the save file to make coalitions never fire, but Im not sure how they did it.
Also they seem like an older player who didnt understand how the new estates work. Thats what my first game in the newer versions looked when the DLC dropped.

Pro-tip, increasing your improve relations modifier also increases how fast your AE decays, so when avoiding coalitions instead of getting a dip rep advisor, get the improve relations one
You sound like a complete noob. Who tf cares about coalitions, in 99% of my games I have coalitions 10 times bigger than in that save, only nations not in the coalion is the ones I currently in the process of conquering thus I make truces with them so they couldn't join the coaltion. And religious unity is the thing that you should never even care about. Only thing it does to you is increase stab boost cost, natonal unrest (which is just free military traditions from fighting rebels), and just a little bit of corruption that takes max like 5 ducats to forget about.
@@omital-ittna1200 But even when you're large enough to not care about coalitions, you still care about coalitions, because even if you stomp them easily, they slow you down by reducing how much land you can take in a war. It's why in my WC games I always go quantity + offensive and go for max force limit (often above it) to scare away coalitions from forming.
Answering a few questions: Two things may have made the commonwealth back off. One, raising your troops would have greatly increased the relative power between you and the coalition. MORE likely though is that they may have gotten a new ruler in between your spy report and the imminent declaration. Swapping from a Conqueror to a Diplomat personality for instance. Castile leaving is a little more puzzling. My best guess is that they lost a rival, then rivalled Denmark, who was the coalition leader after you got Sweden out.
btw sometimes people leave a coalition if you save and reload... i dont know why... ive had people stay in a coalition for years never leaving but if you go back to a save and unpause sometimes they all just leave... if anyone knows why this happens let me know..
so the ai has an internal "cooldown" for leaving a coalition (probably meant to prevent coalition join/leave spam) so they have to wait 5 years (maybe 10? idk) before they're allowed to leave a coalition after joining. when the game gets rebooted, that cooldown is reset, and the ai can reevaluate its diplomatic positions/leave the coalition.
@@Quarbit On top of that, rebooting the game also reboots the AI, so if there's some weird bug that stops them from doing something, like leaving a coalition, rebooting fixes it. This also works in those many, many situations where your allies just stand in one city doing nothing.
4:35 religious unity didn't went down because of month tick. It went down because you gave enforce unity of faith estate privilege which decreased tolerance of heretics and heatens
@@hellodolly7989 I have yet to test that idea. However, the right point to switch depends. If you are small and only a few provinces are needed to be over the 50% mark and they can be quickly converted by a center? Yeah, might as well wait. However, this is unlikely to happen unless you are small and basically right next to the center when it is spawned. So in most situations, you likely are better off just switching and eating the stab hit anyways so as to get yourself a center of reformation and 10 years of fast conversions.
@@Daedwartin2 You dont get stab hits switching between the Catholic and Protestant faiths. Only when you try to get rebels to fire a religion change or through decision like the Dharmic sects. The only thing you lose is prestige. However, going from Orthodox to Catholic or Protestant would incur a stab hit because the nation cannot freely change from Orthodox and therefore would have to let zealot rebels enforce their demands.

@@hellodolly7989 The only benefit to swapping to protestant at the very beginning is to get a center of reformation in your country. If you wait too long, and all 3 have already spawned, you are correct, you're better off waiting until more of your country is converted.

Just form another nation. I'm pretty sure there's a bug and all the coalition members leave. You still have the same AE but they leave for like two seconds
Hey, I think you could have tried to dec the coalition war yourself in order to surrender land and lose AE, and then cycle AIs around you in different wars so that they can't reform a massive coalition, this way you could have tried to expand after fixing eco and admin problems (Maybe going over relations limit and try to ally as much as possible once coalition is disbanded like you did with sweden)
I was todays years old (with almost 3k hours in EU 4) when I learned that admiral increases trade power of ships and flagship speed doesn't matter. Thank you for putting these useful tips in many of your videos!
The coalition stuff is normal. Had a Netherlands game, where an HRE coalition existed for 70 years, as I took 10 HRE provinces in 1 war before forming the Netherlands and dipping. And same as here, they were just too scared to declare, but the AE was too high for them to leave the coalition
I mean, HRE coalitions are definitely normal...but bringing virtually all of Europe into it? Yeah, that's a bit much. Not impossible to achieve that level of AE, granted, but really unlikely at this stage of the game.

i mean as an outsider you kinda want to dismantle the HRE before moving in (atleast unless you're going for emperorship, or some form of achievement) that reduces the AE by a fair bit. the dev is always gonna be an issue sure but that can be managed a lot easier when you dont also have to deal with HRE shennanigans, doing it through vassals helps a ton with the AE aswell as coring then you can also just do it at a reasonable pace instead of what looks like in this case multiple truce breaks against HRE members
@@goranpersson7726 nah man I have played a lot of games around and in the HRE lately. I even dismantled the HRE by cheats in 1444 and played as Brandenburg. By 1600 without expanding outside of Germany expect the Lowlands even with a free PU on Austria which owned half of swabia and Bavaria I still had a coalition with most of Europe in it. Except GB and Ottomans because they are my allies.
@Göran Persson HRE bonus to AE only affects HRE members. Dismantling the HRE is of course smart if you intend to blob into Germany (and that's probably what the player that sent this save did) but it doesn't affect how much AE non-HRE countries get (all the countries in that coalition were non-HRE countries). It turns out if you take severeal thousand development worth of provinces in a century or so you get a ton of AE, HRE or not
The only things I can think of for the coalition not declaring are: 1) a bug in the savefile, 2) the personalities of the enemy being diplomatic or balanced or even colonial meaning they care less 3) or perhaps being focused on other wars. Also important question. Does the game precalculate which country will be the coalition leader if it fired and base the declaration on their calculations? This could create some kind of bottleneck effect for the coalition calculations, preventing it from firing even if it realistically should. In simple terms the calculations regarding the coalition are positive but the ones of the ''would-be'' leader are negative thus blocking the whole coalition from firing. No idea how it works, just sharing some thoughts.
I would probably attribute the coalition not firing to the fact that if you get loads of AE, get a coalition and then crash your game and then reload, the coalition disbands for no reason. Maybe a similar thing where it didn't disband but just didn't fire
@@satoshikamiya4636 that happens because the ai has an internal cooldown that prevents them from leaving a coalition if 5 years have not passed or so. But loading the game again deletes the cooldown because it reboots the ai and does the calculations from scratch.
These are exactly my thoughts. The PLC was the one that gave the notification in game, so I wonder if PLC had a Craven Diplomat ruler and maybe that kinda bugged it out? Since the spies reported back from PLC it set the code so ONLY PLC could declare the war, but their AI is super-opposed to offensive wars.
fleet movement speed is good on lights because the AI will lose their fleet of heavies and whatever to a navy that moves faster than they think it does, because you will repair and they won't + faster movement speed means that they dodge lethal damage more easily
I think the last update did something to coalitions since I too had an absolutely batshit one I created since I wanted to see just how bad I could get it to be and it still never attacked despite being multi continental
So there are few things first coalition tend to fire around at 2.5 of combined power to you and your web of alliances, plc was thinking about attacking you but you increased your mil rating by increasing you maintenance and ai takes that into account a lot, that’s why it didn’t attack ai measures your strength by “ratings” not by looking at your numbers so even if they have a lot of quantity if you have an overwhelming quality coalition will not fire and last you killed every German and ai tend to do their conquests on depending mostly on mission or event claims tl dr - ai don’t want those lands.
Similar thing I noticed, when I was playing Moldavia I conquered far enough into Europe that I took Vienna, as well as Sardinia and Corsica to colonize. All of Europe excluding Britain joined the coalition, vastly outnumbering me, and yet they never declared.
I have had some coalitions (although not as big as this save) that have just sat there and not dissolved for decades. Most of the time I am improving relations with everybody too, and I will get nations well above 50 and they still wont leave. When that happens I just quit the game and reload, and 95 percent of the time the coalition disbands within a month of reloading. Sometimes the game just need a reboot to figure its shit out
just updating you on my Maya game.. I managed to stop Spain declaring war on me but getting another mercenary & allying a few tribes. Later I got France as an ally.. but now I've got a big coalition of Portugal & Spain against me.. I think it might be quitting time. They have 170k. I have 85k. I'm 4 techs behind. Me mil 8 them mil 12. I did pretty well as Maya, took all of Mexico and parts of the US east coast & California & Texas etc and Central America, parts of Colombia and all the way down Ecuador, Peru, Chile. The main problem isn't the Spain war, its that I'm miles behind on tech, another institution just spawned that i can't get and I worked out if I add up all the admin I need to core provinces, to core stated provinces, to get rid of inflation, to get Expansion ideas fully done & to get up to tech 12, I'd need 9000 Adm. I get 11 a month. That is 68 years. Even if I did no more expansion, & by then I'd be another 3-4 techs behind again. I really don't understand how you are supposed to do it. I think Paradox have done something dumb to the game. I took Caraibas & Florida colonies in my last war... although most colonies are new & have little dev and cost me 0.00% oe... somehow to core them some of them cost 100 admin. It makes no sense. So, I just don't think I can be bothered to continue. Thanks for the advice given.
it is not possible too use cheats when you play ironman too get achievments. the player here before wanted too get an achievment so he must have played in ironman without cheats or mods.
@@ashtoncoon1482 There are mods that are working in ironman but these are only for things that don't corupt the gamemechanics, and in ironman cheats are not working because you can't open the ingame cheats Tab, it is closed up, and if you instaled any mod that change the game mechanics even a little you can't play ironman, too cheat in such games today you must be a programer yourself and even that is very complicated than, because the game checks can't be changed at all in ironman, and only in ironman you can get achievments, in a none ironman game you can't get achievements at all now. In the standart Version of the game without any Updates or dlc's, there are mods that can give you achievments even if your not playing in ironman, but if your game has any Updates or dlc's that is not working. Thats why it is impossible for this Player too cheat in ironman because he clearly has Updates on it and is using many dlc's. Paradox has extra updated the game in the beggining so you can't get achievments when you are not playing in ironman, it was one of the first Updates the game ever had, the same was happening with eu4 in the begining. I play eu4 and hoi4 since it came out and believe me it is not possible too cheat in ironman, and without ironman you can't get achievments, i know that because i never play ironman, because i want too play with mods that change stuff that can't be changed in ironman.

Every catholic monarchy can reestablish Jerusalem if they own certain provinces before the Age of Reformation but only a few countries (crusader states + Provence) can form the tag themselves. As for why anyone would do it, RP and larp mostly
you get the option to form Jerusalem by owning Jerusalem and having your capital in Arabia, Egypt, or Mashriq (or you can be cyprus, the knights, or provence). Until then, you can only release it

what i want to know is, if im playing Hungary & am emperor & own nearly all of Europe & north africa & middle east & have Lithuania PU, Poland PU, Austria PU, Iraq vassal , Gascony Vassal.. I already won 2 wars against France.. how come France being the =size of modern france plus 1/3 of spain... how come they are still as tough as me & kick my ass in battles & have nearly the same number of troops?
there are many factors. check your military tech, your army composition, their idea groups vs yours, their morale, discipline, generals, professionalism, make sure you're fighting favourable terrain, are they reinforcing better than you? as for number of troops, check if they have quantity. colonies and other subjects also increase force limit. also, compare your effective development which is average autonomy x total dev and see if they actually have more than you (assume the AI has maybe 5% average autonomy this late into the game). offensive ideas also increase FL. They may be hiring mercenaries if they have no professionalism
likely due to a very good economy and not making as much profit as you do. France still sounds like they're in a very good position ans they have access to some great bonuses to their army because of their ideas.
Size of your nation isn't all that important if the land is low development. Eastern Europe has really low starting development, while western Europe has fairly high development and if France isn't expanding, they're probably developing. They like to do that. So they could have the same or greater development than you, meaning the same or greater income, manpower, forcelimit, fleet, etc. despite being smaller on the map. Other than that, like everyone else said, check their idea groups. But France is just generally a beast, especially in the mid to late game if you don't weaken them early.

@@plebisMaximus what annoys me more is i was just about to war them a third time ( i think they did develop a lot cos i seem to be able to take very few provinces from theme very war even with reconquest) what is weird is that lorraine got a pu over france... so i had to war lorraine but denmark (which got really huge cos i got poland & lithuania as pus & gave most of muscovy to lithuania) denmark declared some pu to claim throne of france over lorraine so that would have been even worse having strong denmark owning a france i can hardly beat myself on its own.. so i had to invade & ruin denmarks plans)

This is awfuly suspicious. How would he conquer germany this fast with have no clue how to play. No admin, no diplo, no stability idea group. Opens with espionage which, probably for claims and ae impact, but diplo is just better. Defensive as third is just ???? Completely wasted idea slot. He had to fight multiple coalitions already, how did this one not fire, how is his economy this mismanaged? Maybe he plays on easy? Or just a cheat. Or good player that is trolling?
He has no other territories other than in Germany... My question is how? Not that it isn't possible but that he took EXACTLY what he needed and nothing more. He has no vassals and didn't take the Genoa land in the region (Crimea). Other than the Ottomans wanting it there is no reason to not take it. It is even your faith when the game starts. Austria still exists but as an OPM that is the only province Cilli doesn't have a core on? The only province that I can see that he didn't need to take yet he did anyway was Rysel (Flanders) and even then he was probably just taking the entire state. There is a very distinct lack of "mess" that a real player would leave and not the close-to-perfect borders this player did. My guess is they threw on cheat engine, put god armies on and went to town breaking truce after truce until he had what he needed.

I have played hoi4 for 2000 hours and it was really hard to learn. I now started with eu4 and I formed prussia once, however there is no way, that I will ever understand this game. My games are always based on luck (wether the territorries I need team with poland or sum shit). I watched half of the video and there wasnt a single thing that I understood
May I ask, can I ask where to send the save files? My Trebizond campaign is getting crash and burn. Bankruptcy is looming and worst of all is the Ottoman declare war on me within a year. I have like 7k of army. No money whatsoever. The Trebizond campaign no matter how I try is always a constant crash and burn of the economy. Never in the campaign so far have I manage to make a plus. Just borrowing money-> take war money-> pay all the debt-> continue to wage war and repeat. Like I still have the a tiny army and it still making me deficit 6 ducats a month. Reduce all the money for the army, the forts and the navy and the amount of deficit 1-2 a month. I am not even declare war to win land anymore. It just to take money to sustain the amount of debt I have to pay. The only saving grace is somehow the Trebizond can produce some of the most high stat heir. One campaign have a 5-4-6 heir. And my latest retry I manage to keep an 6-6-6 heir till she become the ruler of the newly emerge tattered Trebizond kingdom.
hey whats the best technique for defeating a european power as maya? i beat portugal before but i had more money (1800 ducats) and they had 50k and i had 80k me tech 5 them tech 9... but they kept landing in 7k and 14k stacks... was a real pain cos i didnt have a navy and they kept landing in different places.. now spain is declaring war but im tech 9 & they are 11 and they have 80k troops and i have 80k... i allied england but they break the alliance when spain declares, cos they arent rivalled to them.. is there a way for me to make england keep being allied? my navy is too small to beat them by sea unless i can keep taking out small navies of theirs... is it better for me to take their colonies or keep waiting for them to sit on forts? problem is they dont sit on forts, they carpet siege all my lands. im a lot poorer now since i got bigger (+6-10 ducats a month instead of +20) also cos i got expensive advisors to try to catch up on tech.. i sold land but spent half of it already... maybe i shouldnt have.. spain threatened to declare war earlier so i invaded spanish peru & la plata & they didnt declare war but now they are back.. any advice? thanks
Yeah, no way this is real: they mess up so many things (estates, religion, culture, economy, idea groups etc.) and still manage to conquer the whole hre in 150 years? Starting as theodoro? To conquer all of that land by 1600 is hellish to do with any nation and even then you'd have to play optimally and with the right nations to achieve that. (maybe you could start with a major nation that borders the HRE and dismantle it in the first couple of years, then take admin, diplo and espionage ideas to be able to expand better, but even this wouldn't be easy to do)

Watch Ludi video how he conquers entire german empire borders as Brandeburg by 1500. It's literally so easy. I did the run as Saxony where I myself conquered entire HRE by 1490. And I'm currently playing a chill run as Theodoro for the achievement also, it's 1525 and I control entire Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Bohemia and Netherlands with only lands left to conquer is Prussia from Poland. And I'm not rushing if I wanted I would have done the achievement by 1500 max, but I want to keep save playable after the achievement so I'm playing chill. And if I played in the 1.33 version I would have already even gotten the achievement while playing chill, but 1.34 buffed Poland so much.
While you're doing an achievement you manage the coalition by having wars with the big boys every time the truce ends, so they're never in the coalition. And then you just run for the end goal, you're not going to play it afterwards. But it really is a humblebrag sending it out for someone to fix after letting the truces synchronise. And it looks like deleting most of your army.
Well you can't accept all of the germanic cultures, so some of them are going to be harder to convert and will produce 33% less manpower unless you change culture groups to create the union. You need half of your stated culture to be one specific type to culture swap so you have to remove lots of states. Afterwards you can restate it all. The main point was to reduce unrest, convert faster, and get more money/manpower, while also having more culture slots for later.
I don't know about anybody else, but I would've been extremely tempted to troll the save owner by declaring on the coalition at the very end. "Your economy's great, you've got a nice big army, you've got this bro."
Coalitions mean, calm the fuck down, rome wasnt built in a day, make friends with those you hate, make frenemies to stop this...STOP AE progession for a few or...in this case, decades
Can't/Couldn't you just convert by accepting demands of a 0% revolt if you had over 50% dev protestant? Or reformed? Pretty much anything would do better than this catholic barebones. I'm not sure which was more dev, but it certainly wasn't catholic.

For my gothic invasion run, I no-CB'd East Frisia and fully occupied them while I waited for someone else to declare on them. East Frisia does not start in the HRE, so this is no problem. After someone else declares on East Frisia, you can vassalize them to join a defensive war against the other attacker. Because your vassal and your capital are in the same continent, you can core next to your vassal. It's easy to imagine that the original player did the same. Please, do not mistake things you do not understand for cheating. The coalition not firing is likely due to having relatively strong allies and the Commonwealth deciding to go for weaker targets like Muscovy, Ryazan, etc rather than fight a war they don't perceive as useful. The amount of AE a country has against you is irrelevant past 50, it could be 600 or 2000 AE and the result would be the same.

There is an orthodox icon that give 25% improve relations and -10% AE. Theodoro starts as orthodox.

Answering a few questions:
Two things may have made the commonwealth back off. One, raising your troops would have greatly increased the relative power between you and the coalition. MORE likely though is that they may have gotten a new ruler in between your spy report and the imminent declaration. Swapping from a Conqueror to a Diplomat personality for instance.
Castile leaving is a little more puzzling. My best guess is that they lost a rival, then rivalled Denmark, who was the coalition leader after you got Sweden out.

btw sometimes people leave a coalition if you save and reload... i dont know why... ive had people stay in a coalition for years never leaving but if you go back to a save and unpause sometimes they all just leave... if anyone knows why this happens let me know..
so the ai has an internal "cooldown" for leaving a coalition (probably meant to prevent coalition join/leave spam) so they have to wait 5 years (maybe 10? idk) before they're allowed to leave a coalition after joining. when the game gets rebooted, that cooldown is reset, and the ai can reevaluate its diplomatic positions/leave the coalition.
@@Quarbit On top of that, rebooting the game also reboots the AI, so if there's some weird bug that stops them from doing something, like leaving a coalition, rebooting fixes it. This also works in those many, many situations where your allies just stand in one city doing nothing.
Game simply recalculates a lot of stuffs after first month after load. One is strength of coalition.

My guess for why you didnt get a stability hit for switching is that Reformed Province's Dev was likely over 50% of all Dev in the nation.

@@hellodolly7989 I have yet to test that idea. However, the right point to switch depends. If you are small and only a few provinces are needed to be over the 50% mark and they can be quickly converted by a center? Yeah, might as well wait. However, this is unlikely to happen unless you are small and basically right next to the center when it is spawned.
So in most situations, you likely are better off just switching and eating the stab hit anyways so as to get yourself a center of reformation and 10 years of fast conversions.
@@Daedwartin2 You dont get stab hits switching between the Catholic and Protestant faiths. Only when you try to get rebels to fire a religion change or through decision like the Dharmic sects. The only thing you lose is prestige. However, going from Orthodox to Catholic or Protestant would incur a stab hit because the nation cannot freely change from Orthodox and therefore would have to let zealot rebels enforce their demands.

Hey, I think you could have tried to dec the coalition war yourself in order to surrender land and lose AE, and then cycle AIs around you in different wars so that they can't reform a massive coalition, this way you could have tried to expand after fixing eco and admin problems (Maybe going over relations limit and try to ally as much as possible once coalition is disbanded like you did with sweden)
I was todays years old (with almost 3k hours in EU 4) when I learned that admiral increases trade power of ships and flagship speed doesn't matter. Thank you for putting these useful tips in many of your videos!

The coalition stuff is normal. Had a Netherlands game, where an HRE coalition existed for 70 years, as I took 10 HRE provinces in 1 war before forming the Netherlands and dipping. And same as here, they were just too scared to declare, but the AE was too high for them to leave the coalition
I mean, HRE coalitions are definitely normal...but bringing virtually all of Europe into it? Yeah, that's a bit much. Not impossible to achieve that level of AE, granted, but really unlikely at this stage of the game.

i mean as an outsider you kinda want to dismantle the HRE before moving in (atleast unless you're going for emperorship, or some form of achievement) that reduces the AE by a fair bit. the dev is always gonna be an issue sure but that can be managed a lot easier when you dont also have to deal with HRE shennanigans, doing it through vassals helps a ton with the AE aswell as coring then you can also just do it at a reasonable pace instead of what looks like in this case multiple truce breaks against HRE members
@@goranpersson7726 nah man I have played a lot of games around and in the HRE lately. I even dismantled the HRE by cheats in 1444 and played as Brandenburg. By 1600 without expanding outside of Germany expect the Lowlands even with a free PU on Austria which owned half of swabia and Bavaria I still had a coalition with most of Europe in it. Except GB and Ottomans because they are my allies.
@Göran Persson HRE bonus to AE only affects HRE members. Dismantling the HRE is of course smart if you intend to blob into Germany (and that's probably what the player that sent this save did) but it doesn't affect how much AE non-HRE countries get (all the countries in that coalition were non-HRE countries). It turns out if you take severeal thousand development worth of provinces in a century or so you get a ton of AE, HRE or not
The only things I can think of for the coalition not declaring are:
1) a bug in the savefile,
2) the personalities of the enemy being diplomatic or balanced or even colonial meaning they care less
3) or perhaps being focused on other wars.
Also important question. Does the game precalculate which country will be the coalition leader if it fired and base the declaration on their calculations? This could create some kind of bottleneck effect for the coalition calculations, preventing it from firing even if it realistically should. In simple terms the calculations regarding the coalition are positive but the ones of the ''would-be'' leader are negative thus blocking the whole coalition from firing.
No idea how it works, just sharing some thoughts.

I would probably attribute the coalition not firing to the fact that if you get loads of AE, get a coalition and then crash your game and then reload, the coalition disbands for no reason. Maybe a similar thing where it didn't disband but just didn't fire
@@satoshikamiya4636 that happens because the ai has an internal cooldown that prevents them from leaving a coalition if 5 years have not passed or so. But loading the game again deletes the cooldown because it reboots the ai and does the calculations from scratch.
These are exactly my thoughts. The PLC was the one that gave the notification in game, so I wonder if PLC had a Craven Diplomat ruler and maybe that kinda bugged it out? Since the spies reported back from PLC it set the code so ONLY PLC could declare the war, but their AI is super-opposed to offensive wars.

fleet movement speed is good on lights because the AI will lose their fleet of heavies and whatever to a navy that moves faster than they think it does, because you will repair and they won't + faster movement speed means that they dodge lethal damage more easily

So there are few things first coalition tend to fire around at 2.5 of combined power to you and your web of alliances, plc was thinking about attacking you but you increased your mil rating by increasing you maintenance and ai takes that into account a lot, that’s why it didn’t attack ai measures your strength by “ratings” not by looking at your numbers so even if they have a lot of quantity if you have an overwhelming quality coalition will not fire and last you killed every German and ai tend to do their conquests on depending mostly on mission or event claims tl dr - ai don’t want those lands.

Similar thing I noticed, when I was playing Moldavia I conquered far enough into Europe that I took Vienna, as well as Sardinia and Corsica to colonize. All of Europe excluding Britain joined the coalition, vastly outnumbering me, and yet they never declared.
I have had some coalitions (although not as big as this save) that have just sat there and not dissolved for decades. Most of the time I am improving relations with everybody too, and I will get nations well above 50 and they still wont leave. When that happens I just quit the game and reload, and 95 percent of the time the coalition disbands within a month of reloading. Sometimes the game just need a reboot to figure its shit out

just updating you on my Maya game.. I managed to stop Spain declaring war on me but getting another mercenary & allying a few tribes. Later I got France as an ally.. but now I've got a big coalition of Portugal & Spain against me.. I think it might be quitting time. They have 170k. I have 85k. I'm 4 techs behind. Me mil 8 them mil 12. I did pretty well as Maya, took all of Mexico and parts of the US east coast & California & Texas etc and Central America, parts of Colombia and all the way down Ecuador, Peru, Chile. The main problem isn't the Spain war, its that I'm miles behind on tech, another institution just spawned that i can't get and I worked out if I add up all the admin I need to core provinces, to core stated provinces, to get rid of inflation, to get Expansion ideas fully done & to get up to tech 12, I'd need 9000 Adm. I get 11 a month. That is 68 years. Even if I did no more expansion, & by then I'd be another 3-4 techs behind again. I really don't understand how you are supposed to do it. I think Paradox have done something dumb to the game. I took Caraibas & Florida colonies in my last war... although most colonies are new & have little dev and cost me 0.00% oe... somehow to core them some of them cost 100 admin. It makes no sense. So, I just don't think I can be bothered to continue. Thanks for the advice given.

it is not possible too use cheats when you play ironman too get achievments. the player here before wanted too get an achievment so he must have played in ironman without cheats or mods.

There are mods that are working in ironman but these are only for things that don't corupt the gamemechanics, and in ironman cheats are not working because you can't open the ingame cheats Tab, it is closed up, and if you instaled any mod that change the game mechanics even a little you can't play ironman, too cheat in such games today you must be a programer yourself and even that is very complicated than, because the game checks can't be changed at all in ironman, and only in ironman you can get achievments, in a none ironman game you can't get achievements at all now.
In the standart Version of the game without any Updates or dlc's, there are mods that can give you achievments even if your not playing in ironman, but if your game has any Updates or dlc's that is not working.
Thats why it is impossible for this Player too cheat in ironman because he clearly has Updates on it and is using many dlc's.
Paradox has extra updated the game in the beggining so you can't get achievments when you are not playing in ironman, it was one of the first Updates the game ever had, the same was happening with eu4 in the begining.
I play eu4 and hoi4 since it came out and believe me it is not possible too cheat in ironman, and without ironman you can't get achievments, i know that because i never play ironman, because i want too play with mods that change stuff that can't be changed in ironman.

Every catholic monarchy can reestablish Jerusalem if they own certain provinces before the Age of Reformation but only a few countries (crusader states + Provence) can form the tag themselves. As for why anyone would do it, RP and larp mostly
you get the option to form Jerusalem by owning Jerusalem and having your capital in Arabia, Egypt, or Mashriq (or you can be cyprus, the knights, or provence). Until then, you can only release it

what i want to know is, if im playing Hungary & am emperor & own nearly all of Europe & north africa & middle east & have Lithuania PU, Poland PU, Austria PU, Iraq vassal , Gascony Vassal.. I already won 2 wars against France.. how come France being the =size of modern france plus 1/3 of spain... how come they are still as tough as me & kick my ass in battles & have nearly the same number of troops?
there are many factors. check your military tech, your army composition, their idea groups vs yours, their morale, discipline, generals, professionalism, make sure you're fighting favourable terrain, are they reinforcing better than you?
as for number of troops, check if they have quantity. colonies and other subjects also increase force limit. also, compare your effective development which is average autonomy x total dev and see if they actually have more than you (assume the AI has maybe 5% average autonomy this late into the game). offensive ideas also increase FL.

likely due to a very good economy and not making as much profit as you do. France still sounds like they're in a very good position ans they have access to some great bonuses to their army because of their ideas.
Size of your nation isn't all that important if the land is low development. Eastern Europe has really low starting development, while western Europe has fairly high development and if France isn't expanding, they're probably developing. They like to do that. So they could have the same or greater development than you, meaning the same or greater income, manpower, forcelimit, fleet, etc. despite being smaller on the map. Other than that, like everyone else said, check their idea groups. But France is just generally a beast, especially in the mid to late game if you don't weaken them early.

This is awfuly suspicious. How would he conquer germany this fast with have no clue how to play. No admin, no diplo, no stability idea group. Opens with espionage which, probably for claims and ae impact, but diplo is just better. Defensive as third is just ???? Completely wasted idea slot. He had to fight multiple coalitions already, how did this one not fire, how is his economy this mismanaged? Maybe he plays on easy? Or just a cheat. Or good player that is trolling?
He has no other territories other than in Germany... My question is how? Not that it isn't possible but that he took EXACTLY what he needed and nothing more. He has no vassals and didn't take the Genoa land in the region (Crimea). Other than the Ottomans wanting it there is no reason to not take it. It is even your faith when the game starts. Austria still exists but as an OPM that is the only province Cilli doesn't have a core on? The only province that I can see that he didn't need to take yet he did anyway was Rysel (Flanders) and even then he was probably just taking the entire state.
There is a very distinct lack of "mess" that a real player would leave and not the close-to-perfect borders this player did.
My guess is they threw on cheat engine, put god armies on and went to town breaking truce after truce until he had what he needed.

I have played hoi4 for 2000 hours and it was really hard to learn. I now started with eu4 and I formed prussia once, however there is no way, that I will ever understand this game. My games are always based on luck (wether the territorries I need team with poland or sum shit). I watched half of the video and there wasnt a single thing that I understood
May I ask, can I ask where to send the save files? My Trebizond campaign is getting crash and burn. Bankruptcy is looming and worst of all is the Ottoman declare war on me within a year. I have like 7k of army. No money whatsoever. The Trebizond campaign no matter how I try is always a constant crash and burn of the economy. Never in the campaign so far have I manage to make a plus. Just borrowing money-> take war money-> pay all the debt-> continue to wage war and repeat. Like I still have the a tiny army and it still making me deficit 6 ducats a month. Reduce all the money for the army, the forts and the navy and the amount of deficit 1-2 a month. I am not even declare war to win land anymore. It just to take money to sustain the amount of debt I have to pay.
The only saving grace is somehow the Trebizond can produce some of the most high stat heir. One campaign have a 5-4-6 heir. And my latest retry I manage to keep an 6-6-6 heir till she become the ruler of the newly emerge tattered Trebizond kingdom.

hey whats the best technique for defeating a european power as maya? i beat portugal before but i had more money (1800 ducats) and they had 50k and i had 80k me tech 5 them tech 9... but they kept landing in 7k and 14k stacks... was a real pain cos i didnt have a navy and they kept landing in different places.. now spain is declaring war but im tech 9 & they are 11 and they have 80k troops and i have 80k... i allied england but they break the alliance when spain declares, cos they arent rivalled to them.. is there a way for me to make england keep being allied? my navy is too small to beat them by sea unless i can keep taking out small navies of theirs... is it better for me to take their colonies or keep waiting for them to sit on forts? problem is they dont sit on forts, they carpet siege all my lands. im a lot poorer now since i got bigger (+6-10 ducats a month instead of +20) also cos i got expensive advisors to try to catch up on tech.. i sold land but spent half of it already... maybe i shouldnt have.. spain threatened to declare war earlier so i invaded spanish peru & la plata & they didnt declare war but now they are back.. any advice? thanks

Yeah, no way this is real: they mess up so many things (estates, religion, culture, economy, idea groups etc.) and still manage to conquer the whole hre in 150 years? Starting as theodoro?
To conquer all of that land by 1600 is hellish to do with any nation and even then you'd have to play optimally and with the right nations to achieve that. (maybe you could start with a major nation that borders the HRE and dismantle it in the first couple of years, then take admin, diplo and espionage ideas to be able to expand better, but even this wouldn't be easy to do)

Watch Ludi video how he conquers entire german empire borders as Brandeburg by 1500. It's literally so easy. I did the run as Saxony where I myself conquered entire HRE by 1490. And I'm currently playing a chill run as Theodoro for the achievement also, it's 1525 and I control entire Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Bohemia and Netherlands with only lands left to conquer is Prussia from Poland. And I'm not rushing if I wanted I would have done the achievement by 1500 max, but I want to keep save playable after the achievement so I'm playing chill. And if I played in the 1.33 version I would have already even gotten the achievement while playing chill, but 1.34 buffed Poland so much.
So there's no way this isn't fake right? There's no way someone can make this many bad decisions and have those borders without cheating. Right?

While you're doing an achievement you manage the coalition by having wars with the big boys every time the truce ends, so they're never in the coalition. And then you just run for the end goal, you're not going to play it afterwards. But it really is a humblebrag sending it out for someone to fix after letting the truces synchronise. And it looks like deleting most of your army.

Why is changing culture so important for stating ?
Well you can't accept all of the germanic cultures, so some of them are going to be harder to convert and will produce 33% less manpower unless you change culture groups to create the union. You need half of your stated culture to be one specific type to culture swap so you have to remove lots of states. Afterwards you can restate it all. The main point was to reduce unrest, convert faster, and get more money/manpower, while also having more culture slots for later.

For my gothic invasion run, I no-CB'd East Frisia and fully occupied them while I waited for someone else to declare on them. East Frisia does not start in the HRE, so this is no problem. After someone else declares on East Frisia, you can vassalize them to join a defensive war against the other attacker. Because your vassal and your capital are in the same continent, you can core next to your vassal. It's easy to imagine that the original player did the same. Please, do not mistake things you do not understand for cheating.
The coalition not firing is likely due to having relatively strong allies and the Commonwealth deciding to go for weaker targets like Muscovy, Ryazan, etc rather than fight a war they don't perceive as useful. The amount of AE a country has against you is irrelevant past 50, it could be 600 or 2000 AE and the result would be the same.
Maybe leave these types of videos to Zlewikk, he does it better anyway
