This is honest the class I can’t put down. I have them all leveled at this point, and assault is by far the “weakest” but in reality it just needs extreme discipline to monitor parry and dodge opportunities.
Yeah, my first class i maxed was vanguard which just feels... boring cos all you do is just spam melta, assault really makes you work for it, but when it clicks its so much fun.
The way I see it, it doesn't matter if it's the weakest since it's a PvE game. The classes aren't competing against each other. All that matters is if it feels good to play, and it really does.
Oh and in case you didn’t know, the hammer perk “patience rewarded” gives 1 armor regardless of charge level if you’re below half hp. Idk if it’s a bug or simply missing tooltip. The trigger mechanic is too specific to be unintentional, unlike overhealing in which case it’s apparent they messed up aoe dmg calculation for contested health. I’ve been abusing it in conjunction with the charge atk dmg perk in the first column, giving up the armor regen on non-lethal gunstrikes. Feels pretty good. Could you give it a try if you’re willing?
My god I realized I had my jaw dropped for 30 minutes straight Curious that you dropped aftershock improved - did you find the additional animation not worth it? I’ve been contemplating dropping it too. Feels like the first blow always pushes enemies out of the second area of impact, and more often than not you have to cancel it into a parry.
I think that the second ability a lot of times opens you up to eating an orange hit, having the original aftershock opens up the possibiltiy of not only dodging the orange but baiting a blue if you jump back after it
I find aftershock improved really good vs chaos because it throws tzaangors into orbit and guarantees a gunstrike before they even hit the ground, however vs Tyranids the second swing almost never goes off because it's too slow compared to the single aftershock slam. It's still the better horde clear because of the reach and radius it gives, but it's definitely harder to use properly.
What skill man. It takes a lot to play this class at this level. I should know since I'm lacking. lol I die like 2-3 times a run on substantial when I don't die nearly as often on any other class. Interested to see how it goes when my hammer is relic.
Without a perfect parry you are just wasting effort, dodging does fuck all unless it's a 1v1, also why risk wasting your wargear for a dodge when it's just as easy to normal dodge?, this is why the class balancing for Assault is garbage.

Running the enemy out of bullets sending a never ending wave of targets at them is a tactic.
Their tactics are so large scale your strategy is the hive mind’s tactics.

Do you find the double aftershock not worth it due to the animation/dps? As compared to picking up both dps vs nids/chaos perks?

it's in the bottom perk tree of the thunder hammer near the very end to give aftershock an extra swing.
