Not only it’s the best song they have ever done (in my opinion), but it’s probably one of the songs ever. Agnetha’s voice is simply stunning, a perfect singing performance.
You have just listened to one of the greatest songs ever compsed. The lyrics were written while Bjorn was getting drunk with a bottle of whiskey following his and Agnetha's divorce. He swore for years it wasnt about them but admitted many years later it was fueled by the emotions of their split. It is said when Agnetha read the lyrics she cried. It was towards the end of ABBA's reign on the charts. And as long i live i will remember hearing this song for the first time. I was 16 and it was a Sunday morning on the radio at my Aunts house after a party. When it finish I went to the bathroom and cried my eyeballs out I had never heard anything so heartfelt and beautiful.
One of Agnetha’s best vocal performances on an ABBA record. It almost feels like it’s just Agnetha and Benny on this but Frida’s voice and Bjorns are there in the background and you will be equally amazed when you hear some of Frida’s leads.
Frida sings lead on my favourite ABBA song (which doesn't sound very ABBA-like), Like An Angel Passing Through My Room, which was the last track on the original release of The Visitors. Sounds like a haunted music box...
Well, Frida, the dark one sure sing solo on many songs too. Try ”Fernando”, ”I let the music speak”, ”The visitors”…….The best pop group ever in history…..will live forever
This song is supposed to be a fiction, but without a doubt it is at least influenced and also enhanced by the divorce of Björn (who writes it) and Agnetha (who performs it masterfully)... This song is from 1980... already in the most mature period of the band musically speaking. Great video, Chase... see you next time... Happy 2024! ❤️🇨🇱🤗👍
This is also near the end of Abba's career. Both couples would divorce, and the 2 ladies would leave the music scene, but not before Anni-Frid Lyngstad or Frida Lyngstad would have a solo album. The guys kept busy writing misgivings for other artists; movie soundtracks, even helping to create the play Mama Mia. They did come back a very recently with a new album, and a virtual tour.
@@TheRatsCast They didn't really leave the music scene, Frida made two albums and Agnetha released three albums in the 80s. Agnetha didn't do anything in the 90s, Frida released her last album and then in the 2000s Agnetha has released three albums although the last one is a remix of the previous one. Personally I love Agnetha's stuff, Frida's didn't work quite as well for me but there are some good songs in there too.
Both Woman are world class vocalists. Frida I is very versatile. You should try listening to her as lead in a straight Ballad "Cassandra". Also the only time I can remember one of the ladies alone on an ABBA track, "Like an Angel Passing Through my Room". There are countless more by both women. They recorded and released over 120 tracks. At least 80 maybe 90 are incredible.
One of the greatest songs in existence. Just shows so many aspects of breaking up and divorce, such a great song! Very comforting also, when you are in such a situation.
Great selection Chase. The Winner Taks it All (1980) is ABBA's Masterpiece. It was recorded right after Agnetha (blonde) and Bjorn finalized their divorce. Bjorn wrote the lyrics, and Agnetha's vocals were raw as the divorce was devistating for her. Later Frida (the red head) and Benny divorced, and she recorded her breakup song "When All is Said and Done" (another recommendation). You have to react to "Dancing Queen" which is their 1976 most iconic #1 Disco hit. It is another Masterpiece and their most iconic song.
I was in Highschool when this came out. For a few years ABBA hadn't been so popular with my age group because many of their songs were associated with "Disco", which was on the way out. Then this song came out. Agnetha and Bjorn's impending divorce had been publicized, so when we heard this it cut to the heart. It was soooo good that most of us fell in love all over again with them. Their popularity throughout the world is really unpresedented and transcends musical genres. There are aficionados of every type of music....even Death Metal rockers... who also cite ABBA as a fave and inspiration.
Although you may think Agnetha sings lead mostly they both actually have almost the same amount of lead vocals throughout their very extensive catalogue and many shared lead vocals. The men also have a lot of background vocals and in their early years were very dominant.

ABBA in the begining two swedish couples: Agnetha (blonde singer) & Björn (guitarist songwriter) Benny (pianist songwriter) & Anni Frida (brunette singer) both couples separated before the breakup of ABBA in 1982: Agnetha & Björn at end of 1978 Benny & Frida at begin 1981 "The winner takes it all" (1980) is one of the Best Songs by ABBA and the Most sad and emotional too The best lyrics by the guitarist Björn and the greatest performing with the amazing Interpretation of the blonde singer Agnetha Fältskog and her soprano voice The lyrics is a fiction about a divorce, it is not about Their real life, although it is obviously influenced by Their own experiences and the realization of the legal divorce between Agnetha & Björn in the middle of 1980, even though They were no longer a couple or lived together more than a year and half ago, at the end of 1978 In fact, the song was more nearly in time to the split of Benny & Frida as a couple, only a few months later the Official Video with more than 130 millions views in UA-cam, was filmed on July 12 (1980), is a Masterpiece as the song it shows the blonde singer Agnetha alone so sad and remembering happy times, and the others members so nice together, a perfect example of contrast feelings It's the first ABBA vídeo with images in black and white about Their previous history, to introduce us in the context; I think it's their best official video but just as a great performance by Agnetha is seen in these video, almost like a dramatic actress, transmitting the sorrow, anguish and pain, there are also videos in the back room of the filming, which show the four cheerful and funque "The winner takes it all" return ABBA to the Top of the charts, gives ABBA their eighth #1 in UK after almost two years and half Also was the fourth and last Top10 to ABBA in U.S (pick at #8 in 1981) and #1 in US Adult Contemporary too "The winner takes it all" was voted the Best ABBA song by the British fans, and is the favourite ABBA song to the blonde singer Agnetha and now in the new Voyage concerts at London the encore song is... They divorced in 1979 and this was actually the brake-up song as also the other couple had troubles and divorced in 1981. The group dissolved in 1982 although the guys of ABBA had more plans and songs for the group.

Hi I would really appreciate it if you would react to, From Here to Entity by The Fizz, formally known as Bucks Fizz The Fizz - From Here To Eternity (Official Video). Below is a little history of the group and singer. Bucks Fizz star Jay Aston has endured a hellish ordeal over the last few years. The singer, who rose to fame when the British band won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 with 'Making Your Mind Up', has suffered from her own agonising health battles. Jay was diagnosed with mouth cancer in June 2018, had a gruelling seven-hour operation to remove a section of her tongue and then had it rebuilt using part of her thigh. They recorder this track on the day Jay was diagnosed with cancer which make it very emotional. Jay has recovered and is still touring with the group they just played a sell out concert at the 02 arena in London 43 years after winning the Eurovision.

It's on my top 5 and it's one of thee most popular songs but I wouldn't say it's the most. Dancing Queen wins that title but I myself love this more Dancing Queen.
a separate comment, to help you understand the dynamics of ABBA in the midst of the vertigo of your emotionality when discovering their fantastic music This is a different video, for a different song Unlike most ABBA songs, here the dominant piano melody is almost linear, there are almost no hooks, and it does not have a classic catchy chorus. and here it is Agnetha's voice pure and alone, changing the tones and rhythm, while the chorus, which appears in the second half, goes separately and in the background That is why the official video also focuses on Agnetha, who takes the place of an actress interpreting a divorce story, and alternates the contrasts of happy times with the loneliness of loss. Agnetha looks very convincing, both in the grief and emotion of her singing and storytelling (told by her own peers, Agnetha is the Best as a storyteller) but there are also scenes from the back stage of the video that show her smiling and fun. In any case, the song was made a year and a half after the separation between Agnetha and Björn, and there were two more years of ABBA recording and performing on television. The divorce between the other members, Frida and Benny, months after recording and filming "The winner takes it all", was more difficult (their own words) As I always say, try to balance the songs between the two lead singers, since they both contribute equally to ABBA If you did one with Agnetha on lead vocals, now go with one that has Frida on lead. and several of us leave you suggestions "Fernando" will show you another different musical genre "Super Trouper" is a great upbeat "Knowing me knowing you" is another breakup song "The visitors (crackin'up) is more political and has a disturbing rhythm and few have mentioned "I still have faith in You" one of ABBA's songs returns after almost 40 years with a very special official video
Written by the man she was going through a divorce with...so, yeah about their actual divorce. She was married to the guitar player/lyricist and has two children with him.
Ok so Björn wrote the lyrics and Agnetha was chosen to sing it and the video was filmed one week after their divorce was finalised. It was released in 1980 and they got married in 1971. Frida and Benny were still married at this point.
Kind interesting Björn (blond guy without beard) said, lyrics are fiction, still wrote the song after divorced her, who sings it. 🤔 React 'Super Trouper' the title song of same name Album (incl. this).
Björn is clubbing you down with his lyrics again. Beautiful of course. Another one is "Slipping through my fingers", very beautiful but I can hardly listen to it (I have a small daughter).
Not my favorite. This Bjorn and Agnethas divorce song 😢. Please try "If It Wasn't For The Nights " live version from Japan tv is great and "Summer Night City " the official video is best where they are all around Stockholm and in Fridas favorite dance club. It is said they were quite drunk while fillming Summer Night City lol. They are upbeat dancing songs that are fantastic. Happy new year and take care
Bjorn always says the song isn’t about there break up and divorce but people have there own opinions on it. I personally thought it was horrible for her to sing it.
Dancing Queen and Fernando are their two most successful songs, from a top of the charts perspective. This is just one of, it not the most, heart breaking songs. Divorce and all. Knowing Me, Knowing You hints at the divorce (both couples got divorced, eventually) well before this one song.
Bonkers reaction. If I'd turned the sound off id have sworn blind you were listening to a happy song going by your grinning face. I'm not sure you even grasped the meaning and emotion in the song lyrics or paid any attention to the backing vocals. I'll persevere but it doesn't really seem like you're paying real attention to the core of the song.
I´ll tell you a secret. Sometimes I listen to this song and cry. It is so heartfelt and raw. And beautiful.

I recommed the song " Maria Magdalena " by Sandra. Gretings
ABBA in the begining two swedish couples:
Agnetha (blonde singer) &
Björn (guitarist songwriter)
Benny (pianist songwriter) &
Anni Frida (brunette singer)
both couples separated before the breakup of ABBA in 1982:
Agnetha & Björn at end of 1978
Benny & Frida at begin 1981
"The winner takes it all" (1980)
is one of the Best Songs by ABBA
and the Most sad and emotional too
The best lyrics by the guitarist Björn
and the greatest performing with the amazing Interpretation
of
the blonde singer Agnetha Fältskog and her soprano voice
The lyrics is a fiction about a divorce,
it is not about Their real life,
although it is obviously influenced by Their own experiences
and the realization of the legal divorce between Agnetha & Björn in the middle of 1980,
even though They were no longer a couple or lived together more than a year and half ago, at the end of 1978
In fact, the song was more nearly in time to the split of Benny & Frida as a couple, only a few months later
the Official Video with more than 130 millions views in UA-cam,
was filmed on July 12 (1980), is a Masterpiece as the song
it shows the blonde singer Agnetha alone so sad and remembering happy times,
and the others members so nice together, a perfect example of contrast feelings
It's the first ABBA vídeo with images in black and white about Their previous history,
to introduce us in the context; I think it's their best official video
but just as a great performance by Agnetha is seen in these video,
almost like a dramatic actress, transmitting the sorrow, anguish and pain,
there are also videos in the back room of the filming, which show the four cheerful and funque
"The winner takes it all" return ABBA to the Top of the charts,
gives ABBA their eighth #1 in UK after almost two years and half
Also was the fourth and last Top10 to ABBA in U.S (pick at #8 in 1981)
and #1 in US Adult Contemporary too
"The winner takes it all"
was voted the Best ABBA song by the British fans,
and is the favourite ABBA song to the blonde singer Agnetha
and now in the new Voyage concerts at London the encore song is...
"The winner takes it all"
For a new reaction I suggest
"Super Trouper" (1980)
the last #1 to ABBA in UK
with the brunette singer Frida in lead voice
I wish to You a great week

Im catching up with your back catalogue, but if you haven’t done so, I’d suggest ‘one of us’ next.
Good luck with your goals for 2024!! :) Isn't ABBA great?! React to "Lay All Your Love On Me" (OFFICIAL Lyric Video)
I'll check it out!
this came out 1980
yes well dne chase, ur rite, whn aga read v lyrics she creid as she knew v song was about her, vers lots emotion in vis one, big hit, one of ver last, sn after vey disbanded, aga didnt wat to tour anymre.
It's on my top 5 and it's one of thee most popular songs but I wouldn't say it's the most. Dancing Queen wins that title but I myself love this more Dancing Queen.
This song is about their lives. At one point, they married and later switch partners.
a separate comment, to help you understand the dynamics of ABBA in the midst of the vertigo of your emotionality when discovering their fantastic music
This is a different video, for a different song
Unlike most ABBA songs, here the dominant piano melody is almost linear, there are almost no hooks, and it does not have a classic catchy chorus.
and here it is Agnetha's voice pure and alone, changing the tones and rhythm, while the chorus, which appears in the second half, goes separately and in the background
That is why the official video also focuses on Agnetha, who takes the place of an actress interpreting a divorce story, and alternates the contrasts of happy times with the loneliness of loss.
Agnetha looks very convincing, both in the grief and emotion of her singing and storytelling (told by her own peers, Agnetha is the Best as a storyteller)
but there are also scenes from the back stage of the video that show her smiling and fun.
In any case, the song was made a year and a half after the separation between Agnetha and Björn, and there were two more years of ABBA recording and performing on television.
The divorce between the other members, Frida and Benny, months after recording and filming "The winner takes it all", was more difficult (their own words)
As I always say, try to balance the songs between the two lead singers, since they both contribute equally to ABBA
If you did one with Agnetha on lead vocals, now go with one that has Frida on lead.
and several of us leave you suggestions
"Fernando" will show you another different musical genre
"Super Trouper" is a great upbeat
"Knowing me knowing you" is another breakup song
"The visitors (crackin'up) is more political and has a disturbing rhythm
and few have mentioned
"I still have faith in You"
one of ABBA's songs returns after almost 40 years with a very special official video
This song is about the divorce of Agetha (the blond) and Björn (the guitar player)
How about reacting to Abbas Happy New Year-song?
WILL DO !
The song is about her breakup with the guitarist, who she was married to.
AWEEE
They stayed together as a group but it wasn't the same after
This is a breakup song and how others are affected. Technically she is the one affected in this story.
Written by the man she was going through a divorce with...so, yeah about their actual divorce. She was married to the guitar player/lyricist and has two children with him.
1980 was the year it was released
Ok so Björn wrote the lyrics and Agnetha was chosen to sing it and the video was filmed one week after their divorce was finalised. It was released in 1980 and they got married in 1971. Frida and Benny were still married at this point.
Kind interesting Björn (blond guy without beard) said, lyrics are fiction, still wrote the song after divorced her, who sings it. 🤔 React 'Super Trouper' the title song of same name Album (incl. this).
You should also play he is your brother ,so ,,so long. ,hasta Manama ,, ring ring ,, honey honey
Yes it's about her and her divorce to one of the band mates. You know it had to be hard because he was fighting there.
Björn is clubbing you down with his lyrics again. Beautiful of course. Another one is "Slipping through my fingers", very beautiful but I can hardly listen to it (I have a small daughter).
It's not true that Agnetha always sings. It's just that you haven't reacted to many of the songs where Frida is the main vocalist.
OHH THANK YOU !
In real life, Agnetha left Björn. And he got together with another woman a week after. She looked a lot like Agnetha.
Its simply a sad song about life
You missed a track not reacting to the ABBA song ‘Happy New Year’ today!
DOING THAT ONE TODAY !
Такое ощущение, что ты ещё очень маленький и не понял глубину этого произведения. Вырастешь, поймешь
1980
Bjorn always says the song isn’t about there break up and divorce but people have there own opinions on it. I personally thought it was horrible for her to sing it.
You need to do more Abba research!
Dancing Queen and Fernando are their two most successful songs, from a top of the charts perspective. This is just one of, it not the most, heart breaking songs. Divorce and all. Knowing Me, Knowing You hints at the divorce (both couples got divorced, eventually) well before this one song.
Knowing Me Knowing You for sure did not hint at the divorce of Frida and Benny. They were not even married the time the song came out.
@@Lisa-M Ah yes. Unsolicited feedback from the peanut gallery. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts, said no one ever.
@@YesThatNeal If you would write the truth it would be not necessary to correct you.
No not right .. really 😂
They were getting divorced both couples
aweee
Bonkers reaction. If I'd turned the sound off id have sworn blind you were listening to a happy song going by your grinning face. I'm not sure you even grasped the meaning and emotion in the song lyrics or paid any attention to the backing vocals. I'll persevere but it doesn't really seem like you're paying real attention to the core of the song.
thanks for watching !
I often dont like the modern day teenager but your cool
