I was leaning toward the zve1 but i love the canon skintones. C70 is too big and bulky for my travel needs so may wait for the R5II - wish the R8 was good enough :(
I shoot a lot events/concerts and I use CLOG3 during the day and I will go to a certain profile at night, depending on the lighting situation (If I remember to change over). I do agree with you though when it comes to it not being really a big deal about the small amount of grain you may find in lower light. Definitely not a deal breaker
You mention overheating as a problem. Did you know that the latest firmware update fixed the overheating issue? I shot 8k raw as long as I wanted this past summer in the heat with 0 issues. It was fixed back in firmware 1.6.
@@JustinBaylessMedia Did you turn "Auto pwr off temp" to high? Because unless you're running 4k 120fps for longer than a half hour consistently in the heat, you should be OK.
My,problem is : it can shoot only 7mins of 1080p 120fps. Not even 7 mins to be precise. 30mins overheating is also a big letdown. I bought this camera Feb 2023 and still not sure whether I made a wrong choice or not
I don’t really ever use 120fps personally, but that’s rough. I use it either in 4K 60 IPB or 4K 24 IPB about 99% of the time and don’t have issues with overheating for those modes
How do you find the 4K 60 image quality? Iv heard it’s mushy due to line skipping. Recently bought the r6ii but don’t like the ergonomics switching from photo to video as I run hybrid on wedding days and was considering the r5
It’s definitely not as good as 4K 24 in HQ/Fine but the secret is using crop mode as much as possible. Crop mode in 4K 60 allows you to get a downsampled 4K
hey, great video! do you think clog3 colors are really worth it, even with all the noise? I tend to use clog instead because I'm afraid the image will be too noisy in post
I’m not really sure CLog is much better than CLog3 for noise, maybe slightly. More so than the colors, the dynamic range I get in Clog3 is what makes it worth it. Very noticeable difference
I don't know why it wouldn't be relevant for video a few years later. It's an exceptional camera, and years will not change that. Even many DSLR's from 10 years ago are relevant.
Great video ! I was hesitating to get the R5, but not anymore now !
+1 Subscriber !! Thanks Justin !
Hey, can you share your video settings? I´m trying to find the right or best settings for the r5.
Thank you! ❤ For weddings, do you record video on one card slot or multiple with the R5?

What’s your camera settings for videography on the r5
Thank you! Just what I was looking for : )

R5 codec editing experience? I would like to buy R5 I have m2 MacBook pro 32 gb 1tssd I would be using Fcpx
Would love to know your entire camera settings for a wedding day on your R5!
Same!!
Great stuff. Love my r5
Interesting why you didnt consider the R5C?
You mentioned that you don’t shoot with IBIS - only the lens stabilization. But I thought IBIS couldn’t be turned off on the R5?
I’ll have to watch back through to hear my specific wording but I may have misspoken! But I most likely meant I didn’t use the Digital IS

I’ve got latest firmware and still experience overheating

You need to expose way higher in Clog3, and then lower the exposure in post! That way, I’ve managed to have clean iso 12.800 shots in clog3
It’s just tough to do that and not blow out some highlights entirely like outside windows when shooting from the inside

What about the 30 min record limit? Isn't that a problem for you?
Never been an issue
What do you color grade with?
Hi Justin big fan do you by chance sell seltzers

I struggle a lot with noise with the camera, even around 1000 iso. What’s your experience been like?
Definitely do in CLog3. It’s one of the main downsides for sure. Beautiful image but grainy/noisy at times it’s a tradeoff
I don't know why it wouldn't be relevant for video a few years later. It's an exceptional camera, and years will not change that. Even many DSLR's from 10 years ago are relevant.
Sony color science has caught up and looks better than canon actually
