All from just one note...
I can see some nice ambient music being made with this method!!
Without a doubt, this is one of the best tutorials I've ever watched. Vital is soooooooo deep, and when I was hearing sequences in some of the presets, I was confused and wondered if I had a crippled version of Vital because I searched high and low for an arpeggiator/sequencer but didn't find one. Now, in one fell swoop, I learned about modulating Filters and Oscillators with an LFO, using the Sample & Hold function, Stereo automation, etc. Thanks for your tutorial.
Its so crazy. I just now try it out and my brain is blowing out.... i thank you so much ❤
You're literally the only person i have turned notifications on. Love your work man.
Honored. Thank you bro!
medic!!!!
Agreed. Amazing channel. He deserves 10 times the number of subs
Great tutorial here. This is one of my favorite modular tricks...with a delay and also a sync'd/modulated Amp envelope so you get a (feels like) polyrhythm with seemingly "random" melody/gate. Very cool to see your final product here.
thats excatly what I was seeking! YES it wasn't a arp but this great delayed seq
Flamin' 'eck.... I saw this pop up the other day and put it on my list to 'give it a go'. I'm bloody glad i did... Thanks for posting this Chris.... I wanted to get more into the sequencing side of things in my tracks and this is just ideal. That synth is so powerful, why would you need another??? Best video so far i think matey. G. :-)
Awesome tutorial
You’re a legend dude🙏
This is so cool, beyond words, thanks for the lesson and positive!!!
Love these Vital tutorials!
Just found this channel and I'm intrigued! excellent tutorial, I'm curious to see all the others
Has a MEGA Depeche Mode feel to it.
Loved that. Thanks Chris.
Way cool my brother. Im very new to the world of synths (guitar guy from van halen territory) but having a ball learning Vital. This was super helpful. Thanks so much for sharing.
Watched a few of these from other people but this was the most accessible.....nice pace.....didnt have to change clip speed down half speed. Excellent. Will watch more!
Been working a lot with Vital recently, but WOW I learned so much just from this one video haha
Great tutorial. Thank you!
This was very cool!
thank you so much your videos are sooooo helpful
Excellent video. I've been messing with EDM/DAWs and so on for years and years and thought I knew most of the techniques, but I didn't understand this one or what it was called (a sequence!). I knew about pads, textures, arps, and so on, and I guess I assumed the arp melodies were just arps, never a sequence built into the synth.
I have Serum, Massive, Massive X, Pigments, and Vital. Out of all these excellent VSTs, for the life of me, I can't get Vital to work for long without choking the CPU. Even with just one in a track. All the other VSTs work great. I sure hope the developers will do something about it someday soon. There are scores of Vital tutorials out there and I basically have to translate any of them of interest into the other VSTs at this point.
awesome tutorial chris.
Great tutorial! It was like watching Bob Ross paint!
Nice insight cheers 😎
this was a super helpful introduction to sequencing inside vital!
Glad you enjoyed it! More on the way...
Vital rulez! :)
Thanks for a nice tutorial!
excellent, Chris, thanks :-)
I'm speechless. Can I ask from where this knowledge comes from? I was having fun with full version of vital but most of it was just enabling random option just to check how will it change during the process, but obviously U knew what to push and where to change the whole project into something that was running as an idea in your mind.
YEAH thank you is very useful
Love it :-)
Reminds me of the old reason combinators
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiceeeeeeeee one thanks
I used this technique to generate a bassline. BOOM!
In some point i like that idea, on the other hand i must say, i'm pretty sure if i draw the notes in by hand instead, i'll probaply get a much more intresting rythm and will sound probaply more melodic
I love self playing patches.
Epic tut as always man, when money improves my side i definitely want to support your patreon and get those material soundsets - feel like I owe you loads for all I've learn from you - really appreciate it man
Thank you so much! Vital doesn’t have a proper arpeggiator, but using the LFOs to pitch lock the oscillators is a good replacement. You can also use the mod remap to affect the pitch and dial in different sequences. I highly recommend the “50 tips and tricks” video from Dash Glitch. Cheers and see you on Patreon!
@@s1gns0fl1fe ah sweet dude I'll check it out, have seen that vid hovering in my youtube suggestions 😀, ye was wondering how to do arps in Vital cos I saw it done a while back in Serum before I understood it. Thanks a mill for the reply.
PS: Dash lives in the same city as I do afaik 😀
I can't believe how powerful this free synth is. It feels wrong.
I love how easy it is to create a step sequence using the amp envelope. I wonder, does any one know if you can set an LFO to the envelope rate somehow? Thanks in advanced.
Great video as always. Do you think it is possible to make such a patch with Pigments rather than Vital ? If so, it would be awsome to see that 😊
For sure! Pigments is a great synth.
which skin are you using? Looks very nice ;)
Bro!!! How did I miss this one?? And do you have the link to Cameron’s? I swear every time I see your vids now I’m gonna break out into song. “There goes my hero”
[In Dave Grohl's voice] He's ordinary!!!
What does it mean when the spots on the transpose bar are blue instead of pink
I tried with white noise and the seq became kind of percussion loop. That was really cool. I know you're fan of reso high freq sound, but is there a way to make the sound trancy like Above & Beyond or Daniel Kandi plucks? I've tried with wavetables but couldn't get there.
around 2:20 in breakdown ua-cam.com/video/j4ngRpi84Ks/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Above%26Beyond
I've got 2 questions:
1-I see people in general preferring sloped/logarithmic lines instead of linear ones when using envelopes, whether for modulating amplitude, filter or whatever... is it a rule of thumb that our ear always prefers logarithmic stuff, so are we always "supposed" to use curved lines, or are there instances where you do like to shape a transient with a linear envelope for example? Hope you get my question
2-How do you add LFOs in Vital?
Thank you and thanks for the amazing tutorial
I think it's more pleasing to have a concave slope to an envelope when it comes to volume, but there are certainly instances when you'd want to use straight lines. To your second question, that's still a bit unclear. Like how do you import LFOs? Or how do you use them as modulation sources? Let me know.
@@s1gns0fl1fe Thank you for the explanation! About the second question, basically when i load vital i see 4 LFOs, at a certain point in your video now there’s also LFO 5 and lfo 6… i wonder how do you access those 2 lfos?
As soon as you use all 4 of the LFOs, the 5th will show up. Use the 5th and it’ll add a 6th and so on. You can have up to 8.
much appreciated man, i love your content and your music @@s1gns0fl1fe
Great performance, send me a message for some baseline tips
Do you know how to set Vital at 432hz?
In the advanced section, you can load a tuning file into Vital. You can also lower the master tune! Check this thread: forum.vital.audio/t/432hz-is-it-possible/3461
