Incredible tutorial, I love anything like this, I just wish there was more stuff dedicated to ambient music production on UA-cam, your channel is great, keep up the good work :-) carbon based lifeforms fan :-)
vital is a great tool, thank you for the inspiring videos
Thanks for sharing,Chris. Very motivated.
Incredible. Simply incredible. Thank you.
I first viewed this tutorial soon after I got Vital a couple of months ago. I was clued out. Viewed it again today and was able to follow it completely and made my first drone patch. 👍
This is freaking awesome
The more I follow your inspiring videos the more I fall in love with Vital, in deep sound design journeys overnight.... so grateful!!!
Really enjoying your tutorials, especially ‘how to do’s’ in Vital. Inspired me to tackle an Ambient project of my own, really enjoy your and the Ascendant albums. I’m just an ageing, medically retired muso who messes in his home studio. Learnt a lot about Vital and sound design from your material, really appreciate it…
Glad you found me! This channel has been a long time goal of mine and we're finally here. Never give up on your dreams!
Good tutorial - love to see different versions and other ideas what you can do for drones in vital other modes of modulation maybe 🤔 great work
Love it!
so good! thnks
Just discovered your channel and man, you are an ambient genius, just followed you along, throwed some random wavetables and made a really cool sounding drone that sound so professional, I am relatively new to production, just got myself ableton as gift and lot of other plugings during this black friday, Vital included, thanks a lor for your knowledge shared with us :D
You are so welcome!
This was incredibly practical and succinct. I love vital but I've been struggling to create sounds like this. You've launched me onto a new plane of existence. ;)
This is the kind of feedback I live for. Thank you so much!
Great hint about the random simple and hold patched to pitches. Using this gives some really cool patches
Stuff that is like cryo chamber, that's my dream goal. No longer looking to make dubstep. Ambient, I may not listen to it too much, but when I do, it truly hits deep.
this is awesome!
This has got me in the groove to make wavetables!
I have now made some 20 tables just to play with this idea
thank you a lot!!
thank you
Lovely thanks a lot
Good tutorial, I gotta watch the rest of your videos. You have OSC 2 going into to filter 2 instead of OSC 3, so that 3rd Oscillator wasn't being filtered.
super nice thanks))))))))
A shame you couldn't have made this tutorial with stock wavetables from Vital.
I came across this vid by accident, but holy flip dude. All I had to do was skip to the end to hear your sound and you immediately had a new subscriber
Cheers and welcome aboard!
ive been making patches daily thanks to these videos , when I can I will join the Patreon
You didn't dive in into details but this was extremely helpful and comprehensive!!! I'm starting to experiment on drones thanks to this video, I needed to know a bit about this because I'm trying to make some dungeon synth now... thank you! You have a new subscriber.
I didn't realize this until now but you are the artist ascendant! No wonder I really liked your music.
Thank you! Ascendant is a collaboration between myself and my partner Don. More music coming soon! Cheers
1k thx 4 this tuts ❤
Assigning randomization to stereo on filter is a nice trick and easy to do in Vital|Serum. Guys, could you give a tip on how to do this in Paseplant (for one group)? Particularly assigning stereo to a filter. Thanks!
I call you Mr. Vitalstic, tell you fantastic 🎵🎶
Thank you ! Thank you very much for everything. You are motivating and so clear in your explanations. Above all, don't stop. Long life and Prosper 🖖🙌
I'll try not to stop! It's comments like these that keep me motivated. Cheers to you and thanks!
Real newb in ambient here. I like the idea of playing with randomness and have mostly tried stretching/looping/processing existing audio. Listening to a lot of ambient (including yours!) I realised that there must be ways of doing it in synths, and you've now shown me how: thanks, and I shall start exploring immediately!
Cheers and enjoy! Glad I could help you on your path.
@@s1gns0fl1fe I've now watched and worked through several of your ambient vids and really appreciate a couple of things. When you were making an ambient wavetable from scratch it was great that you just randomly drew a load of things in and then saw what it sounded like. I know that there's more to making wavetables than that, but it really encouraged me to get stuck in and not worry about the theory or the technicalities; I find it easy to get distracted into trying to make a particular sound rather than do something random and see where it leads me. And secondly, I love the way you end each vid by sitting back and listening. I'm trying to get to grips with the technicalities, but this reminds me that the most important thing is: does it sound good, what does it make me feel? I can then go on from there led by the music rather than the theory. So thanks again, and peace! ✌
Great video - thanks for sharing your processes. It’s interesting how Hydrasynth has given you a different take on Vital. I had an early Hydrasynth on trial & returned it, but my experience with Vital has made me realise my approach was wrong with Hydrasynth! ( I was treating it more like a Virtual Analogue) I wish I had room in the studio for the keyboard version - the Poly Aftertouch & Ribbon are excellent...
That's it. One of the things I found out early on was to not approach the Hydra like Serum or Vital because, like you, it will be underwhelming. Panning, modulating, and creatively balancing each oscillator with the envelopes and LFOs is the key! Cheers and thanks for the positive feedback on my videos.
Bro…I downloaded this synth a few weeks ago. As a total newb to creating soundscapes, you just gave me all the ammo I need to stop using patches only. Gonna go create my own right now. Liked and subbed.
That’s awesome!! Plenty more videos on the way. Cheers!
@@s1gns0fl1fe I’ve already watched 3!! Including your video about building confidence. Good content man. Can’t wait to see you in the tens and hundreds of thousands of subs!!
We definitely need to be able to loop envelopes 👍😁
Or just give us another page of eight LFO!
In my experiments with Vital so far I quickly use up the LFO and have to start using automation on top, which is okay, but would be nice to keep everything "inside" Vital 🙂
Totally agree! If Vital's envelopes were like the Hydra envelopes I'd be through the moon. Given his track record, I'm sure the dev would find a way to make them even better...
@@s1gns0fl1fe well, I'm hooked, and I am even strongly considering getting the pro version of Vital I like it that much :-)
Remember the "pro" version of Vital has no better functionality than the free one! It's just more wavetables and presets. But since you know how to make your own wavetables now and you've got my Ambient Transmissions you're all set. ;)
❤
Excellent videos and presets too from your bandcamp. I had to buy them all haha. Just wondering, I've been looking everywhere for that Vital skin and can't find it. If you have a link of some kind. Hit me up :) keep these videos coming, clearly produced and great to watch :)
Cheers and thank you! That’s the “Candy Cave” skin which I think is included with any paid version of Vital. Don’t quote me on that though haha! Hope you enjoy the presets.
@@s1gns0fl1fe thank you for the reply. I found a skin I like now. But will check out the candy cane. I may have deleted a load of factory content. But that pink on dark skin is lovely on the eyes. Think I'm using the blue cyen skin now. It's nice and clean. Not too many colours 🌈 and yes, the presets are lovely. It's nice to take a look for inspiration. Appreciate all the effort made. Three thumbs up 🤣
Great video man! Do you have a preferable frequency range to place drones in your tracks?
That's a good question. I'd say anywhere between 300hz and 3000khz with some light frequencies in the upper frequencies past that. I have a few videos on "frequency separation" on my channel you might want to check out.
@@s1gns0fl1fe Thanks a lot! I'll check these videos out for sure!
i want more instruments and wavetables
i want to make this kind of ambient sound
ua-cam.com/video/0UORkzg4PVQ/v-deo.html
Have a look at Omnisphere 2! Or just use something like Valhalla Supermassive (free) on any synth.
is there an equivalent to xmf filter of Zebra in Vital ?
Not sure it does, but you can use the stereo spread on the filters and get great results. What do you use the xmf for?
@@s1gns0fl1fe Idk😂 I just saw some unique sounds in Zebra were made by xmf.
why did you think it was ok to make a tutorial with custom presets??? did you think that im gonna search for download links somewhere or what?
Do you mean wavetables? Still though, stay classy. I have a bunch of Vital videos on my channel showing how to create custom wavetables and presets.
