it took me 16 years to finish this game, with +300 hours played across years (at least in the main save file). Never had internet or the guide back then. It was a mess. But I am very proud to have finished it. Of course in recent years I relied on the guides to proceed in the game, but for the rest it was all a discovery. so much back and forth... but good memories. Loved living this digital world!
YES MY FAVORITE DIGIMON GAME OF ALL TIME This was my first actual introduction to Digimon as a Kid. And I fell in love with the series BECAUSE of this game.
Facts I still play this game and I own the physical disk but opt to emulate because I love playing it on my steam deck on the go. I get like 7-8 hours of gameplay with this.
This is the first RPG game I have ever played 20 years ago, back when I was still in elementary school and finished the game a few years after that because I was also still learning English back then. This game put something in my heart and will be great if there is a remake or a remaster for the new console or PC like steam someday. There are many remaster games nowadays using 2.5D graphics like Octopath and DQ3. I think that approach will work really well with DMW3 too. I hope Bandai sees this video too and reads the response of everyone here. Thanks for the video!
Dude that's awesome! This game really did touch and inside a lot of kids back then and we agree that a 2.5D remaster/remake would be awesome for this game!
1 major thing that hold me back to finish this game is the fact that it is in English (yeah, English is not my first language, imagine having to play this game as a 5-7 years old child lol). But I had my brothers, so we always played with 1 save file and if there's a puzzle or if we somehow get stuck, 4 of us will solve it together. And guess what, it only took us a few months to beat this game, since we take turns on grinding the levels and we only made story progress if we're all together.. we also tested a bunch of things since we don't have internet back then, and yeah, we played the non-PAL version. We also tried to replay it with different starter team choice to see if there's a different experience in it. My personal favorite is Pack B, but my brothers prefer Pack C. Later, when I got around 12 years old, I decided to replay this game in PAL version because a friend told me that there's a post-game content for it. And yeah, this time, by alone, I managed to beat it in less than 2 weeks since I had my memories about this game still intact for some puzzles and I already learnt English from school and courses. Now, with the Digimon TCG 2020 came out, I found myself a Digimon-lover community, and sometimes I play it with emulators to have a nostalgia and sometimes I discuss it with my friends, like, what Digimon that would came out in the TCG, or sometimes there's a card that remind us of certain scene from this game. And yeah, I also wish for a remaster, but hopefully, with a brand-new story or continuing story, just like how Digimon Next Order is a sequel from Digimon World 1.
That's awesome. When I first played it, my brother and I each had our own saved files, so it took us forever to beat the game. I love the TCG, especially when they make nods to Bearmon, Kotemon, and Monmon. I hope they make a booster set focused on DW3!
The thing i loved the most about Digimon 3, was it's the only digimon game, that let you feel like you was a character from the anime, because you could have your own partner digimon, that you can evolve anytime in mid battle, and the burst mechanic felt to me like "AAAAAHHH THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP!!!!"
Agreed. It was one of the first to pull off the whole "playing through an anime" feel. The only other game to get close to pulling that same feel off was Cyber Sleuth.
I've been replaying through it recently, first time in over 15 years. My experience has been thus; First 20 hours: This game is amazing! I remember why I loved it as a kid. Next 20 hours: I now see why people are not fans of this game. So much back tracking, the grinding is a slog, and you do almost no damage without the counter crest. The music is definitely the highest point, it's just good, and the world design is also amazing. It makes you feel like you're in the digimon world. I definitely agree that Digimon World 3 deserves a remake, mostly add modern conveniences such as fast traveling to places you've been. Both Digimon World 2 and 3 seem to be the black sheep of the World games but I believe they are deserving of love and should make come backs in the modern era.
Totally agree with you here. You begin the game, and it's great, but man once you gotta start backtracking, it takes a nose dive. A remake could fix so many of these issues! Let's hope we get one!
still a bummer that Dukemon/Gallantmon signature technique Final Elysion/Final Purification is a counter move. Which mean, only activate when enemy using physical based attack move. It's useless against unidentified attacks like Ragnamon/Galacticmon's ???? attack
When I was a kid I never own a gameboy or any nintendo so back then I cant play any pokemon game and then this game came into my life this game save me, my childhood revolves around this game
I discovered this incredible game. back when I was 14 years old and my introduction to the gaming world and truly it's a masterpiece that does deserve to be remade I still have my old PSX. with my capped out 999.99.99 Save timer. This Truly. was the game of my childhood. And let's be honest here, that save theme is amazing. The game had such a great OST.
Digimon World 3 is my Greatest of All Time game, i love this game and was so immersed in the game as a kid i just realized a few years ago that there's a Digimon World 2003 (European release) and has a tournament post game, man I love that and made the feeling as a kid back!!!
It reviewed pretty well and even made it as a greatest hits on the PS1. I assume many popular UA-camrs probably just aren't big Digimon fans or just don't like this type of game.
I mean, we hear ya, but a lot of us also thought that a Marvel vs Capcom game would never come out again, and yet... Here we are 😅 So let's just keep answering Bandai's questionnaires, and demand it, hopefully they'll listen
I've been playing through it recently. The evolution trees were cool, but the leveling system was all over the place. Llike, why would they throttle the experience of the evolutions because the base level is too high because you also had level the evolutions. Padding an rpg at its best😭😭
I love this game so much. I got my hand on it by the same time Digimon Tamers was released at my country. I was discovering Guilmon and Renamon in the game and in the show at same time.
It's true, this game absolutely needs a remake, good setting, excellent OST, and a story that although it could have been used more, I think it is quite incredible, without a doubt one of the best games on the PS1
8:54 This would remain a trend for another decade or two until we started getting International Editions and Final Mixes over here in the last decade. For example: Digimon World Next Order on PS4, Switch and PC is the International Edition. We got Kingdom Hearts final mixes in compilations and the Final Fantasy X compliation included the International Editions.
Indeed you can. We didn't mention it in the video, but that is indeed how you get the 8 available rookie partners. More partners would be fantastic though!
Here is my opinion as speedrunner and someone who joined DMW3 Discord. The bad thing for this game is basically no tutorial OUTSIDE CARD BATTLE LOL. Card Battle has some tutorials but the battle, even the first Kuwagamon? There is none. Because of this, I can bet players basically never touch 90% items and techs in the game except few like Healing Charges and Life Disk. Then players will only grinding to get ultimate skills which usually highest damage in specific Digimon. Through speedruns, we discover how broken Buff Items and Techs to Double your damage or Half your damage taken. Other stuff like understanding what your weapon and armors do (most players only look at Stats), what elemental weakness do, why Speed is such broken stats so every Digimon should train Speed, and common RPG mechanics that the developer just keep them hidden until DMW3 Discord figuring things out. Do you ever question what is elemental fields (Items) do or what is Aura Plug do? Their Items description are so vague and only certain Digimons can use these kind of items.
You make a great point! I never understood the usefulness of some items or skills due to the vague descriptions you mentioned! What's the name of this discord you mentioned? I'm curious 🧐
@@TooStupidGamerz Hiya sry I just forget reply on youtube like this 😂😂 Anyway we have 2 Discord servers for speedrunners and Digimon gamers in general. That's where we share our finding and thoughts. Also if you see a channel named Geta92 he is the glitch hunter for Digimon World games like this.
Fun story about this game for me. I was a kid out in the middle of nowhere and had DIAL UP so I basically coudlnt even think about using the internet to look things up, moreover I DID NOT HAVE THE GUIDE. It took awhile but I, a like 7 or 8 year old kid managed to get all the way up to a point where Asuka city gets taken over and you cannot enter any more because an unbeatable knightmon will block your way. Your kicked out of the room your in and told to go look for this key pass you can use to sneak in through the sewers or something and so I looked....and looked and looked FOR LITERAL YEARS. On again and off again I'd go through binges scrounging through the entire map, checking every nook and cranny for this god forsaken pass and found NOTHING, on the bright side my entire team was basically maxxed out with their Megas and ultimate moves, nothing Cooler than having a lv 99 Gallantmon, Beelzemon and Omnimon right? Anyway fast forward to when I'm like 13 and I've moved from the countryside to the city and now have real internet, I'm playing through Resident Evil 2 and I'm stuck on a puzzle, my brother suggests I look it up online, as I'm doing so a strike of realization hits me and I decide to search what the bloody heck I'm supposed to do in Digimon World 3. I was dumbfounded, bamboozled and quite possibly speckledwarfed. All I had to do was GO BACK IN THE ROOM YOU GET BOOTED OUT OF. THIS ENTIRE TIME THATS ALL I HAD TO DO WTF? So I go and do it and proceed to completely BLAZE through the game. Every random battle and boss fight was a complete joke. I was so excited to finally see the end of this years long journey. Then it comes time for dinner. I save at the last save point before the final boss and get ready to go eat, my youngest sister, who was like 7 maybe younger asks if she can play on her save file, I let her. I come back to find her accidentally saving over MY SAVE FILE. Lord have mercy cause I sure didnt I was so angry I chased her around the house (just yelling and screaming and crying) until my dad yelled at me to shut up. I've never been able to muster up the energy to play through the whole game again, even now nearly 28, the grind is too long and arduous for me to get through, I have a save file I've been working on but its like my third try since then, finding the motivation to play through the game all over again after losing thousands of hours of progress and years of my life has been difficult and every time I play that og save file haunts me. Also due to the incident, even now and on her own games and systems, my sister just habitually always saves on the last save file available. Anyway great game 10/10 would recommend.
Omfg that literally happened to me too. I have a younger brother who also loves Digimon, and DW3. We both had our own saved files, and one day, he asks me to grind out a few levels for HIS team, on HIS saved files, and wouldn't you know it? I accidentally saved over my OWN saved file. Needless to say, I was also heartbroken and angry at myself. I was way ahead of my brother, but I ended up continuing off of his save, and I beat the game way back in like 2007/8 (can't remember specifically...) I still hate myself for messing up my original save file, so till this day, I always double check what I'm saving and where lol
I DO recommend you go through the game, even if you have to use cheat codes to blaze through the game to get to where you once were. Then turn off the cheats and play the game like you intended to all those years ago. It'll be worth it!
All of the songs in this game really holds up and I still play some of them as background music to this day. Card game Ost especially goes unnecessarily hard while playing Magic and Ygo
i have biasness cos i grew up playing all the digimon games. idk why but world 2 was my absolute fav, the soundtrack, collecting and dna digivolving aspects are all very appealing me as a child lol. but all the other digimon games are absolute bangers. digimon card battle, digimon rumble arena as well. i wish the newer games emulate more on digimon world 2 though, its just so cozy and addicting! although i admit world 3's story was the most superior, and i love the card game minigame, so well done
Nostalgia is a strong thing. Let's not beat around the bush, even DW3 has its detracters, and for good reasons. But no game is perfect and every game has its fans. It's all valid!
10:18 Think it's worth noting that Digimon Story goes back to the DS games, which were incorrectly localized as Digimon World DS even though they were in fact _not_ Digimon World games.
You are absoluetly correct. I didn't bother mentioning it since most people seem to like Cyber Sleuth and also it's more widely available and well known.
2:57 I remember being disappointed how many digimon in this game didn't appear in Digimon Frontier (which is the fourth series, not fourth season. It is completely detached from Tamers and Adventure and Adventure 02 is a spinoff sequel). While most Digimon World 1 and 3 digimon have appeared in the anime in recent years (as well as Atamadekachimon from the DigiWindow LCD toy (and minidekachimon becoming officially separate Digimon)), I am still waiting for Tinmon's anime debut. Tinmon made a cameo in the DCG with the set based on the first game so there's hope right?
For sure. Actually Bearmon and Kotemon, plus their Champion forms, DID appear in Digimon Frontier. It was in that ONE movie, but hey, it's something lol
Digimon World 3 digimon size for the mega forms are the best thing I remembered, Wargreymon was tiny in the anime but here he's actually a big dude, until the 2020 Adventure reboot happened where he's finally Gundam-sized. If there's a remake or spiritual sequel to it I kinda hope it mixed both world 3, cybersleuth and the psp Adventure game. The psp game attack animations are one of the best for me since they actually rush to the enemy, and being able to digivolve to any forms you unlocked and equip would be great, and keep the blast evolution and dna digivolve tag(kinda sad in Cybersleuth dna digivolve means sacrificing one of your digimon)
Totally. Don't really agree with wargreymon being Gundam sized. It was a tad much. DW3 did the sizes right tho. A remake/spiritual successor should take inspiration from Cyber Sleuth and the PSP games for sure. We would want the most complete and functional version of DW3 possible!
@@TooStupidGamerz well it was weird that Metalgreymon was huge in the anime and then shrunk into Wargreymon that's just about Shaquille O'Neal height 😅 Even in 2020 reboot as big as he was he's just a tiny orange dot compared to Goddramon and Milenniummon lol. I really hope digimons really get huge in games because Cybersleuth makes them small, unless they're bosses. And when you unlock bosses digivolution you get mini version of them instead lol. Hopefully later games takes dw3 formula, make them rookie in travel then digivolve in combat so they don't be huge on map.
@hrgaming4plebs570 I get what you mean. It's jarring AF when you get something the size of a building turning into something the size of a super human. But I always saw it as concentrating the power into something smaller and more efficient. Anyways to each their own. I always feel that making something too big just looks ridiculous. But yeah, a game that keeps the sizes consistent would be great!
I do quite enjoy that the Digimon franchise did split into 2 distinct play styles, with world 2 being the outcast since it was more of a mystery dungeon game, but it did popularise the 3v3 formula as well as raising multiple Digimon at once. But the series did ultimately split into the Digimon raise games from World 1 > Re:Digitize > Next Order, and the Digimon rpg from World 3 > DS/Dawn/Dusk > Cyber Sleuth. Both are fun to play but as an turn-based fan myself i do love the latter group more. Digimon World 3 was definitely fun, but i would much have preferred it to stay 3v3 rather then rotation and if they ever re-released it to play that way then it would 100% be my favourite. Right now though, It's the DS games that utilises zone attacks and a farm system that is similar to that in cyber sleuth, and sleuth ALMOST inched out, but ultimately the cut scenes where their models are facing each other in a VN like way and just move around as a means to show they are uninterested or walking away just didn't do it for me, i like the pixel games more.
Pixel games always look timeless. But I did like the story telling of Cyber Sleuth personally. Having two different play styles does give the fandom some variety and I also like that!
After 15 years i finished the damn game. It was hard. It was super grindy. It was super confusing from time to time to actually know where to go at times but i enjoy it. It needs something more than a remake, maybe a new game that looks like this one (because this one has beautiful scenarios that makes me feel at the digital world like was in the anime)
DW2003 Dosent need a remake, just a remaster with pixel perfect, widescreen support, a teleport system and more digimon option to digivolve, one more initial patch to chose and a rebalance patch, as well exclusive forms for each Digimon. Ok, it is a lot of things, but is more doable than a remake.
this is my definitive digimon game, and a remaster with expanded partners, updated equipment and battle system ( ie an easier way to tell which spells are better, elements and types effectiveness, and a mario rpg attack timing thing) would be amazing. I hear you on the guide thing though. Legend of Dragoon had this certain "cheat" to get to lvl 99....except the max level there is 60 and there are no cheats. Found it on nearly every damn website though
This is my favorite Digimon game. I played this when I was a kid lol. I think why i like it better than the other digimon games and the modern digimon games, is because the world is huge, it's like pokemon. There are gyms and badges, the story is pretty good too! I just wish we could fight Destromon lol. I think I cleared this game 3 times. I also played a lot of the card duels. Interesting thing, I never manage to get Veemon as my party member. At the time, I never knew it was even possible. And yeah, I played the game back when Google is not yet a worldwide thing. I miss those days. Kinda...
The traditional JRPG aspect sure makes this game more accessible. The card game was an awesome distraction for sure! Yeah, getting Veemon wasn't easy to get, but luckily, I found a reliable guide online that helped me 😅
@@TooStupidGamerz I'm glad I'm not the only one who enjoyed this game. I remember looking it up when I got older, apparently, it wasn't received well by critics, which sucks cause I really like the game.
Most critics are too critical. It's tough to take them seriously to be honest. Sometimes, it's best to just try a game and see if you like it. Most of us might be surprised of what we find!
I wonder why there isn't any mods for this cool game , a city teleporter and a gate disk item will already make the game much more better, add an encounter control item and it will be masterpiece.
Although not exactly a tournament, the PAL version does have a final battle against Kurt / Lucky Mouse, after you beat all of the leaders. Just a shame it's such a grind to reach it. I'd love for a remake to make the map useful - backtracking wouldn't be such a pain if you could use the map for fast travel.
@@TooStupidGamerz I dont know what I love most about Digimon 3? The actual game or the card game. Both parts of the game is great. Oh yeah and the music is amazing, especially the Boss track, that really heats up the Bossbattles :D
@@TooStupidGamerz It is a release-year physical disk. Not a Greatest Hits re-release. Not an ISO. The copy of the game I picked up in stores and replayed kinda-sorta-almost yearly ever since. If you can't understand WHY I'm referencing the meme, that is on you. 😜
Even though the counter crest had things which sort of kept it from being set off the counter crest made many parts of the game as well as leveling up and grinding a whole lot easier to the point to where it felt like cheating in alot of situations.
Digimon World 3 (or 2003) was what the world (at least the West) expected Digimon World to be - an answer to Pokemon. It wasn't and because of that (...and how it just threw the player into the deep water) it got a lot of flak. ...still, even if the critic scores were... not too good, it sold quite alright. And it is probably one of the most remembered PS1 games (with an OUSTANDING fanbase). Digimon World 2 was... interesting. And that's how I gonna end that. After being in love with Digimon World 1, I expected 2 to be just that but with Megas, and... well... It was my first foray into dungeon crawlers? Again, it was pretty terrible at explaining things (I was too stupid to figure out how to befriend Digimon, which caused me to do unvoluntary solo-Digimon runs that ended around Device Dome) and its ideas, while interesting... were terribly realized. Seriously, I would want to ask the guy who thought that "9999999" is a good idea some questions. ...if remade correctly, the game COULD be a total banger though - imo that's the game that SHOULD be remade, just to get ANOTHER chance (it wasn't [officially] released in Europe afterall!). I liked Digimon World 3! It had that early-asian-MMO feel (backtracking included), the combat system was fun and simple, there was a lot cool Digimon (both to digivolve into and to fight against - I mean... I was SO PLEASANTLY SURPRISED when encountering Brachiomon with a working model!) and training/leveling was complex-yet-satisfying. Soundtrack was AWESOME (though that can be said about every Digimon game, pretty much tbh) and of course they included the totally-unnecessary-card-game that diverted me for at least the same amount of time as the main game. ...the technical shortcuts were pretty funny, though. It was still impressive to a point. ...and the plot was BONKERS. Like... things escalated to ridiculous degrees. To be honest... I'm not sure if the additional content was worth the lower framerate. I mean... I'll never get that 15-20% of time I would save playing. Pretty enjoyable video overall! Also, just wanted to say: Mobius Desert can go to HELL.
The lower frame rate sucked! Butter again that 60fps hack fixed it for me. It felt like the NTSC version! I suggest trying it out if you can get it! The post hand really isn't anything super crazy, but it's still nice to experience!
It's a good game 7/10 Agreed the strategy guide is a must. I remember finishing it a long time ago. I often found navigation to be a problem. With both side quests and story. Level grounding felt tedious. I think the remake could do with some sort of experience points modifier. I wish the game had more partner Digimon to choose from. By the end of the game things felt a bit limited. I agree with lots of your comments on the game Great video.
I remember dropping the game because I got Junior stuck inside Protocol Forest. I didn't know the first thing about navigating an invisible maze and kept running into Dokugomons for hours. Eventually I cried and gave up
Omg, that sucks so bad. It's actually not that hard, and looking through the guide will get you through it like a pro. I never used it, I kept going back and forth until I memorized the path
@@TooStupidGamerz I was thinking of Next Order. It really is what Digimon World 1 would be if made today, hence why I feel open to calling it a remaster
Ahh I see. I agree with you on that. I would call it more of a sequel, since we do see Mameo (the protagonist of the first game) return and play a role in the plot
I honestly feel like they would make very good money if they released fixed and polished versions of those games, even more if they remade it with better graphics, no need to go Cyber Sleuth quality, just beautiful on it's on style.
Well, according to some content creators that have spoken to developers at Bandai, they know that we want newer versions of older games. So let's hope they take it to heart and give us what we want!
If you really like DW1, try Digimon World Next Order. It's not a remake, but more like an upgraded sequel to it. It's really good and plays like it, but more modernized!
I would not be mad if they made a Pokemon BDSP-style remake. The game can mostly be the same, but they need to add a Fly/Teleport function to avoid backtracking. Overall, this game is amazing, and I can see how it influenced future Digimon World/Story games, specially Cyber Sleuth and Hacker's Memory, the latter being for me a spiritual successor to DW3.
We totally agree. The Pokemon BD/SP remake style would do WONDERS for DW3! Also, anything to help with the backtracking would be great. To help make it better, some balancing and some stylistic changes could help like giving the leaders of each city a TYPE of Digimon (no elemental typing btw, like Dinosaurs, sea creatures, birds, etc
i think the games really good as well, the best story in digimon, was hoping they made something like this in newer title like cybersleuth but it wasnt even close. But i do agree DW3 have insane backtracking
This is game the Digimon world 3 is fun and wonderful but game digimon digital card battle is much more, I very much hope that this is what I want to play
The pal version has the end game tournament but is only accessible after becoming card game champion (underwater at divermon lake - beat everyone at the card game) and completing main storyline
I ended up fighting Kurt by just beating the leaders in the Amaterasu Server. I didn't do any of that card stuff with the Divermon. Is there a different tournament/final battle thing if you do that card stuff or is it just Kurt again?
@@TooStupidGamerz a new more difficult tournament I believe, been a few years since I beat it, but it may be that last tournament you mentioned but harder with card game requirement. I have the Digimon World 2003 (Pal) so i'm not sure about the differences with US and Japan versions. All I remember was that I couldn't join unless I had all (Gym) badges (which I had at that point) and was the Card Game Champion (which is really fun and surprisingly in-depth for a "side-mission")
So, I'm the only one who is not complaining about the grind? (500+ hours) If it weren't for FromSoftware and their Souls games, this is the game I would played the most in my life 😂
A quick Google search can help. According to Google, the quickest way to unlock the Beelzemon evolution is by using Veemon, and unlock the Growlmon and Devimon evolution, then further unlocking Malomyotismon and Gallantmon, and THEN you get Beelzemon. Hope that helps!
@@TooStupidGamerz hi! i appreciate the effort of you answering. hehe but i wasnt talking about beelzemon. i noticed the gaming footage used a PS1 emulator. and since ps1 originally had 4:3 aspect ratio, bezels were used on the side to have the sony logo on there. just noticed cause it was a good design. if you knew how to set that up, it'll be great to know but if you dont, no worries!
@micochopitea woops. That's what happens when you answer questions right after waking up lol. We used Retroarch with a PlayStation core/emulator. Retroarch allows you to use overlays which is how we got this look. Here's a very similar overlay I found on Reddit: www.reddit.com/r/PlaystationClassic/s/wcWM95TaO7
2:10.... Actually... it does work like that as well... Not all times... I know an instance where Ryo Digimon which was a rookie [the one that appeared in Tamers inside Ryo's Tamer's universe Father's car] with Milleniummon and turned into an egg right after and they hatch AS A CYBERDRAMON! NOT A BABY STAGE 1! CYBERDRAMON! A PERFECT LEVEL DIGIMON! AND THAT IS TRUE TO HOW THE DNA DIGIVOLUTION FROM DW2 WORKS!
i don't think bandai will ever remake it this or only hope is work of fan and i am down to pay money to make this real btw this game has randomizer mod make the game more fun at the end i truly hope from my bottom of my heart this game get remake or sequel thanks for the vid champ you deserve subscribe
@@TooStupidGamerz Sped up gameplay, more Digimon and just general advancements in the roguelike genre would make a remake or a sequel to Digimon World 2 a great game. Digimon World 3 is already pretty much as good as it could be aside from faster load times. Digimon World 2 is already insanely fun once you learn to embrace the grind.
Ah yes The PS1 Digimon title which go back into the classic RPG system. Literally with the grindfes already. Sadly there is some digimon exclusive only to Digimon World 3 only like BEMmon lines (yup, includes Destromon and Ragnamon/Galacticmon (dub)) because some developer said that BEMmon hacking data to evolve rather than feed data. I forgot the source info/article from and (probably) it's a lost media now
Oh you're saying that you don't like that Vemmon and Oinkmon are exclusive to DW3? Vemmon is actually in the Digimon Card game, so I guess he's not exclusive anymore lol
The Game that Softlocks you at the Endgame if you did not create all Epic Items that are entry key items for the Leaders to accept your challange and this going to the last Battle and ending the game for good - had to learn that the hard way as a young boy damn 90 hours into the game and well the north sector where metal etemon is cant be accses anymore what a bummer also never EVER sell items you get from bossfights you need them haha. Its my go to Game when ever I feel like playing a good Digimon Game - yes its grindy and later on the Enemys become super Tanky (Whalemon with the blue and white colour for example) But getting every Digitation to 99 and finding out what Digitation you get next is awesome. Only thing I really dont like is the Gym where you can fail your stat gain and wasting TP since its just a chance to finish the training session each time.
Yeah, the gym isn't really the best way to increase stats. They should develop a new system for that. And yeah the game CAN sort of soft lock. But if you didn't make the epic items, you can do so in the post game by going through the tunnels and talking to certain Digimon.
And you didnt mention but if you got all the legendary weapons (which was a pain in the a** because you need all starters at level 40, and use boss weapons and combine them with hidden pokemon weapon smiths ) the game would go from 40 hours to 120 hours easly , just to beat the stronger trainer after you defeat the last boss! Also the difficult part is to acquire the weapons before the last boss!
Yeah, we omitted that part because we wanted to save time on the video as a whole. If it were 120 hours of side quests, main story, and digi card battles, sure. But not this over blown fetch Quest 💀
Finding Mirage Tower was harder than finding a needle in a haystack! Luckily I was able to find the correct path by using a guide I found on Game winners! But dang, your Digimon got to mega that early? The rest of the game must've been a cake walk!
@@TooStupidGamerzi got a fake disc copy of the game without actual istructions which made it super grindy. still to this day i dont know why i love it so much.
I remember beating the game back in the day before I had a memory card, my ps2 was not happy being on that long, by the end when on the over world only the square I was on would load, and it would flash in and out ( remember the way the game would load in as squares across the screen) my screen was filled with those squares and it made things difficult
@TooStupidGamerz yeah took about 6 months if I remember right, at least it wasn't as bad as when I played kingdom hearts 1 without a memory card, that playthrough took a year
I think DW3's price point of $20 has less to do with the budget and more to do with the release date. This game was released for the PSX in 2002, 2 years after the launch of PS2.
I loved this game as a kid, but I did not like the battle backgrounds. They felt very flat. I think I would have liked them better if they had sweeping camera like in Legend of Dragoon, just that extra little 'oomph' to make the battles feel exciting.
Digimon world 1 still the best for me. But yea 3 nice, especislly the music, might be my fave of all digimon games. But yea the amount of backtrack + fairly high random encounter made me kinda hate it a bit when i replayed it, tho emulstor "fast forward" feature kinda make it bearable.
it took me 16 years to finish this game, with +300 hours played across years (at least in the main save file). Never had internet or the guide back then. It was a mess. But I am very proud to have finished it. Of course in recent years I relied on the guides to proceed in the game, but for the rest it was all a discovery. so much back and forth... but good memories. Loved living this digital world!
Ooof that must've been tough!
Glad to hear you enjoyed the game. Let's demand a remake from Bandai!
I can relate to that, starting(trying ) something and actually finishing it more than a decade later. 😂
Man, I can't even express how much I love this game. The music, card game, the thrill on initial exploring, and the nostalgia
Dude same here!
They really did this game justice with the music and the world itself. Brings me back to my 12 year old self!
YES MY FAVORITE DIGIMON GAME OF ALL TIME
This was my first actual introduction to Digimon as a Kid.
And I fell in love with the series BECAUSE of this game.
That's awesome! We haven't met many ppl who were introduced to Digimon through this game. It's usually the Anime first, THEN this game!
Facts I still play this game and I own the physical disk but opt to emulate because I love playing it on my steam deck on the go. I get like 7-8 hours of gameplay with this.
We also have a physical copy. We got DW3 working on the Vita. Playing it on the go is a blessing!
@@TooStupidGamerz What is the 60fps mod and where can I find it? I'm assuming it's for the PAL version?
It's more like a patch. A quick Google search will get you what you need. But here's a link as well!
www.romhacking.net/hacks/8105/
Even just a remaster with faster loading times would be godsend.
Honestly yes. But if we're getting a remaster, we may as well get a couple more fixes too!
and some fastforward feature for the grindings
Along with a bit more side quest would be appreciated!
Heck yeah, auto battling would be nice!
Side quests are a MUST. A quest to get some cool items or exclusive partners would be crazy!
I love how many people wants a remake from this, it's my dream from 20 years ago. It'd make me the happiest man alive if ever happens.
A good game deserves a face lift. Here's hoping they pull it off
I finished this game without any walkthrough wayback grade school. This game always has a special place on my heart and yes this game needs a remake!
That must've been one heck of a grind!
Let's hope that bandai gets in gear and gives us what we want!
This game really did touch and inside a lot of kids back then and we agree that a 2.5D remaster/remake would be awesome for this game!
best game i ever played
It's definitely a great game once you get into it!
The only other game to get close to pulling that same feel off was Cyber Sleuth.
what i love in digimon world 3 is world design its soooo gooood~
It was so colorful and playful!
The design team was in their A Game!
When was child all this “wasted” time making missions was funny, interact and discover each time new areas….literally amazing 🥺
Same here. This world is just so charming
I've been replaying through it recently, first time in over 15 years. My experience has been thus;
First 20 hours: This game is amazing!
It's useless against unidentified attacks like Ragnamon/Galacticmon's ???? attack
Yeah I never liked that either. This could be rectified in a remake for sure!
counter crest is only OP in US version, the EU and JP version only give you 50% chance to trigger the counter attack
When I was a kid I never own a gameboy or any nintendo so back then I cant play any pokemon game and then this game came into my life this game save me, my childhood revolves around this game
Same here. Never had a Gameboy, so this became our monster raising game!
The OST carried this game FAR!
this was my favourite digimon game!!! i miss it but wouldnt go back because of my life style, i really do want a casual game to play
Totally understandable. A grind fest isn't really casual. A remake could fix that.
Digimon World 3 is my Greatest of All Time game, i love this game and was so immersed in the game as a kid
i just realized a few years ago that there's a Digimon World 2003 (European release) and has a tournament post game, man I love that and made the feeling as a kid back!!!
It totally counts as one of the best games out there. A modern remake would take this game from a 9/10 to a 15/10!
My favorite Digimon game of all time. All of the other games cant compare. I cant believe reviewers didnt put this in their top 3s.
It reviewed pretty well and even made it as a greatest hits on the PS1. I assume many popular UA-camrs probably just aren't big Digimon fans or just don't like this type of game.
I hope for a remake with new starter digimon and new cards. I was addicted to that Card game as a kid.
An expanded version of that card game would be awesome!
A remake of DW3 is a dream of mine that I unfortunately don't see ever becoming true. But damn, that would be awesome...
I mean, we hear ya, but a lot of us also thought that a Marvel vs Capcom game would never come out again, and yet... Here we are 😅
So let's just keep answering Bandai's questionnaires, and demand it, hopefully they'll listen
@@TooStupidGamerz Fair enough.
I saw the title and wholeheartedly agree with the video already
Thanks! Give it a watch and let us know what you'd like to add or detract from it too!
I've been playing through it recently. The evolution trees were cool, but the leveling system was all over the place. Llike, why would they throttle the experience of the evolutions because the base level is too high because you also had level the evolutions. Padding an rpg at its best😭😭
Yeah, it wasn't my favorite system. It did the job, but it also made it more complicated. They did it better in Cyber Sleuth
I love this game so much. I got my hand on it by the same time Digimon Tamers was released at my country. I was discovering Guilmon and Renamon in the game and in the show at same time.
That's awesome!
It's a shame that Terriermom and Impmon weren't added as partner Digimon tho.
It's true, this game absolutely needs a remake, good setting, excellent OST, and a story that although it could have been used more, I think it is quite incredible, without a doubt one of the best games on the PS1
Can't agree with you more!
We all gotta nag Bandai to make it!
Isn't it annoying? Well better late than never, right?
When having to choose between Digimon Day and Girlfriend day I chose Digimon Day
* Chad meme *
My fav PS1 Digimon game, I have played it so much, probably a good few hundred hours haha.
@@veeshadow Thanks for the info. We'll check it out some time!
This game definitely needs a remake or remaster
For sure! Bandai holds questionnaires every once in a while. So we gotta answer them and demand the remake!
obviously remake, remaster would be only upscaling it where every emulator can already do it
Fun story about this game for me.
I was way ahead of my brother, but I ended up continuing off of his save, and I beat the game way back in like 2007/8 (can't remember specifically...)
I still hate myself for messing up my original save file, so till this day, I always double check what I'm saving and where lol
Same here! I actually use a lot of the songs for playing the Digimon Card game in real life!
This is my favorite rpg lol. I agree it needs a remake. Im currently playing it rn after 10 years
It's such a charming game too. This would be an easy slam dunk if Bandai Namco just did it
i have biasness cos i grew up playing all the digimon games. idk why but world 2 was my absolute fav, the soundtrack, collecting and dna digivolving aspects are all very appealing me as a child lol. but all the other digimon games are absolute bangers. digimon card battle, digimon rumble arena as well. i wish the newer games emulate more on digimon world 2 though, its just so cozy and addicting! although i admit world 3's story was the most superior, and i love the card game minigame, so well done
Nostalgia is a strong thing. Let's not beat around the bush, even DW3 has its detracters, and for good reasons. But no game is perfect and every game has its fans. It's all valid!
loved digimon world 3, especially when i found out you could get all the rookie's including veemon.
Well there are 8 rookies, including Veemon. Wish they had more though
Favourite Digimon Game. So true about the Soundtrack
Everyone loves this soundtrack! It's way too good!
Digimon world 3 and Cyber slueth have been my two favorite games so far, but DW3 is my number one, hands down.
Can't lie, similar sentiment here! Lol
10:18 Think it's worth noting that Digimon Story goes back to the DS games, which were incorrectly localized as Digimon World DS even though they were in fact _not_ Digimon World games.
You are absoluetly correct. I didn't bother mentioning it since most people seem to like Cyber Sleuth and also it's more widely available and well known.
this game feels so nostalgic and my favorite ps1 game
It really is super nostalgic. The charm and gameplay style teleports you back to a simpler time!
The digimon world series on the PS1 could do with a remake. Each game was completely unique and had a lot to love in them. 🎉
100% agree here!
Digimon World 3 was for me the Best Digimon World and the Story is Epic.
I need a Remake from this Game.
It's definitely good. A remake to flesh it out and modernize it would be insane!
Been playing this for 15 years already.. :D
There's a lot to this game. It doesn't surprise us one bit lol
Which starting team is your go to?
Just installed it the other day 😀 Still give me the same joy as i have while i was playn as a kid 🙏💪
This game will do that to ya, haha!
The whole series needs a remaster
Not gonna argue with a remake over the 1st 3 games at all lol
After 15 years i finished the damn game. It was hard. It was super grindy. It was super confusing from time to time to actually know where to go at times but i enjoy it. It needs something more than a remake, maybe a new game that looks like this one (because this one has beautiful scenarios that makes me feel at the digital world like was in the anime)
Yeah for sure. Heck maybe even a sequel to this exact game!
I mean, I'd be down for that too. But if they're gonna do all that, why NOT remake? It's a turn based battle RPG. It should be simple enough
this is my definitive digimon game, and a remaster with expanded partners, updated equipment and battle system ( ie an easier way to tell which spells are better, elements and types effectiveness, and a mario rpg attack timing thing) would be amazing.
I hear you on the guide thing though. Legend of Dragoon had this certain "cheat" to get to lvl 99....except the max level there is 60 and there are no cheats. Found it on nearly every damn website though
Lmao old-school cheat websites were something else!
@@TooStupidGamerz just out here tryin to make playground rumors official and shit lol
That's a great question actually. My guess is that we just haven't found someone willing to code and out in the time for something like that
Although not exactly a tournament, the PAL version does have a final battle against Kurt / Lucky Mouse, after you beat all of the leaders. Just a shame it's such a grind to reach it.
I'd love for a remake to make the map useful - backtracking wouldn't be such a pain if you could use the map for fast travel.
Fast travel is a must to make this game feel more modern
The back tracking, grinding and insane random encounter rate..game would need an overhaul
Indeed. A remake would remedy that no problem
This needs a remake, Imagine it in 2.5D Modern audience would go crazy about it
That hadn't crossed my mind. 2.5D would be wild!
The best Digimon game ever made :D
Heck yeah. A remake would make this the best of ALL TIME!!
@@TooStupidGamerz I dont know what I love most about Digimon 3? The actual game or the card game. Both parts of the game is great.
Oh yeah and the music is amazing, especially the Boss track, that really heats up the Bossbattles :D
@danishdude2191 central park, protocol ruins, the save theme, etc... they all do good!!!
**Looks at physical disk**
**Looks at modded PAL version**
**Sweating**
Lol what's the issue?
@@TooStupidGamerz It is a release-year physical disk. Not a Greatest Hits re-release. Not an ISO. The copy of the game I picked up in stores and replayed kinda-sorta-almost yearly ever since. If you can't understand WHY I'm referencing the meme, that is on you. 😜
Is the PAL version significantly better than the NA released DW3?
@Subster it's the same game, just with a few balance changes, and with actual post game content.
Keep the physical copy for your collection on the shelf, play the pal 2003 version digitally
Even though the counter crest had things which sort of kept it from being set off the counter crest made many parts of the game as well as leveling up and grinding a whole lot easier to the point to where it felt like cheating in alot of situations.
Lol it did, but that was actually only in the NTSC version. The PAL version patched that broken effect out
Digimon World 3 (or 2003) was what the world (at least the West) expected Digimon World to be - an answer to Pokemon.
It's a good game 7/10
Agreed the strategy guide is a must.
I agree with lots of your comments on the game
Great video.
Thanks for watching!
Let's hope Bandai listens to us and actually gives us a remake!
@@TooStupidGamerz
Me too.
I am looking forward to a new Digimon game hopefully sooner rather than later.
I got stuck at some point and didn’t know what to do. I’d love to play it again and actually finish.
Oof, I feel that. I got stuck a lot too. Totally recommend going through it again with a guide and some cheats
I never used it, I kept going back and forth until I memorized the path
not sure how I got here but I do like the presentation
Thank you! We're glad you liked the video!
Digimon world 3 is such a guilty pleasure of mine. I rather got my hopes up for a remake when they basically did a remake of Digimon World 1
Ah, you're referring to Digimon World Re:Digitize or Digimon world next order?
@@TooStupidGamerz Yeah, I suppose, remaster would be a more accurate term to use 😅
Lol when did they make a remaster of the 1st Digimon game tho?
@@TooStupidGamerz I was thinking of Next Order. It really is what Digimon World 1 would be if made today, hence why I feel open to calling it a remaster
Ahh I see. I agree with you on that. I would call it more of a sequel, since we do see Mameo (the protagonist of the first game) return and play a role in the plot
I honestly feel like they would make very good money if they released fixed and polished versions of those games, even more if they remade it with better graphics, no need to go Cyber Sleuth quality, just beautiful on it's on style.
That could work. But a remake would still be awesome
Yes please!
We gotta nag Bandai Namco
Loved DW3 and I do have that guidebook! I wish we could get a remake of this game, but Bandai makes it rather clear they don’t get Digimon.
Well, according to some content creators that have spoken to developers at Bandai, they know that we want newer versions of older games. So let's hope they take it to heart and give us what we want!
Most needed features: something like the Repel (from pokemon games) and something like HM02 Fly (also from pokemon games)
Repel for sure! Omg, nothing like backtracking and having to wave through some annoying Kuwagamon or Dokugumon!
I want number 1 remade but I'd play this one too.😊
If you really like DW1, try Digimon World Next Order. It's not a remake, but more like an upgraded sequel to it. It's really good and plays like it, but more modernized!
Good content!
Thanks a lot!
Never played Digimon World 2, but it looks like it takes inspiration from the SMT series and those types of games.
What's the SMT series?
i think the games really good as well, the best story in digimon, was hoping they made something like this in newer title like cybersleuth but it wasnt even close. But i do agree DW3 have insane backtracking
The backtracking was wild in this game. A remake should fix that up no problem!
This is game the Digimon world 3 is fun and wonderful but game digimon digital card battle is much more, I very much hope that this is what I want to play
They're both fun games. Perhaps one day we'll showcase the Digital Card Battle PS1 games 🤔
Interesting. All I did was literally beat all of the leaders. I'll check on that some day!
So, I'm the only one who is not complaining about the grind? (500+ hours)
If it weren't for FromSoftware and their Souls games, this is the game I would played the most in my life 😂
Hahaha! You're built different! Not many ppl can take the grind
Bro didn´t watch the Video, but just liked and writing this comment, to get people to know more about DMW3
Hey, we appreciate it!
Let's hope more ppl get to know about it and pressure Bandai into making the remake!
@@TooStupidGamerz Would love it!
Post credit should be the finished Amaterasu Server!
It should be! But the devs weren't given much time to do that...
The only decent game from the digimon world franchise games. This game was goated for ps1.
I would love a remake
The truest of GOATS!
Currently doing a play through of the pal version on a emulator on my iPhone I missed this game
Don't be afraid to use some "enhancements". This game will test you lol
Monmon still the best! Love this game!
Monmon is underrated! Show some respect for the BOII!
Would you know how to set up the game with the bezels on the sides and where to get them? thanks!
Here's a very similar overlay I found on Reddit:
www.reddit.com/r/PlaystationClassic/s/wcWM95TaO7
@@TooStupidGamerz dang that's awesome! thanks for this!
@micochopitea no problem!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
I love the graphics
The pixel art is fantastic and timeless. They did a great job with it!
The final tournament can be played in DMW 2003
You sure it's the final TOURNAMENT or is it just the fight with Kurt? Cuz that's what I experienced
i love this game so muxh!!
Happy to hear that so many people have love for this game!
2:10....
Actually... it does work like that as well...
Not all times...
I know an instance where Ryo Digimon which was a rookie
[the one that appeared in Tamers inside Ryo's Tamer's universe Father's car]
with Milleniummon and turned into an egg right after and they hatch AS A CYBERDRAMON! NOT A BABY STAGE 1! CYBERDRAMON! A PERFECT LEVEL DIGIMON! AND THAT IS TRUE TO HOW THE DNA DIGIVOLUTION FROM DW2 WORKS!
What media did that happen in?
I was referring to most instances in both anime and most games, DNA digivolving usually results in going up a level
i don't think bandai will ever remake it this or only hope is work of fan and i am down to pay money to make this real btw this game has randomizer mod make the game more fun at the end i truly hope from my bottom of my heart this game get remake or sequel thanks for the vid champ you deserve subscribe
Same here. I'll have to check the randomizer one day!
@@TooStupidGamerz ya i am playing with it really fun
This game was soooooo good
It's a great game with some flaws. We still recommend it for JRPG fans!
Digimon World 2 needs a remake even more
Arguably... Yes, it does lol
@@TooStupidGamerz
Sped up gameplay, more Digimon and just general advancements in the roguelike genre would make a remake or a sequel to Digimon World 2 a great game. Digimon World 3 is already pretty much as good as it could be aside from faster load times.
Digimon World 2 is already insanely fun once you learn to embrace the grind.
Digimon world 2: Hardmode
& Digimon world 2: Alternative
Mods are available
That's very true. I've heard of them but never tried them
U can play the final tournament if u find all legendary weapons and beat all leaders in the post game, in the pal version atleast its possible
Indeed but it's not really a tournament. All you end up doing is fighting Kurt. Not really a tournament 😕
Ah yes
The PS1 Digimon title which go back into the classic RPG system.
I forgot the source info/article from and (probably) it's a lost media now
Exclusive to the NTSC DW3?
Which ones? I gotta know!
@@TooStupidGamerz the unplayable one. BEMmon/Vemmon (dub) and Buumon/Oinkmon (dub)
Oh you're saying that you don't like that Vemmon and Oinkmon are exclusive to DW3?
Vemmon is actually in the Digimon Card game, so I guess he's not exclusive anymore lol
8lue card still haunts me to this day
It haunts us all, lol
The Game that Softlocks you at the Endgame if you did not create all Epic Items that are entry key items for the Leaders to accept your challange and this going to the last Battle and ending the game for good - had to learn that the hard way as a young boy damn 90 hours into the game and well the north sector where metal etemon is cant be accses anymore what a bummer also never EVER sell items you get from bossfights you need them haha.
Its my go to Game when ever I feel like playing a good Digimon Game - yes its grindy and later on the Enemys become super Tanky (Whalemon with the blue and white colour for example)
But getting every Digitation to 99 and finding out what Digitation you get next is awesome.
You don't say with Sepikmon mask backtrack..
Lol that mission sucks too, don't get me wrong! Frickin Etemon needs to chill
i remember i got megas before getting to mirage tower becouse i couldnt find it. took me months
It's STILL a grindy game, even with instructions lol
The game is just charming, and some what simple in how you can approach it.
I remember beating the game back in the day before I had a memory card, my ps2 was not happy being on that long, by the end when on the over world only the square I was on would load, and it would flash in and out ( remember the way the game would load in as squares across the screen) my screen was filled with those squares and it made things difficult
I dealt with the same issue. Those loading squares were a pain in the neck. Also dang, that PS2 of yours is a true trooper!
@TooStupidGamerz yeah took about 6 months if I remember right, at least it wasn't as bad as when I played kingdom hearts 1 without a memory card, that playthrough took a year
Oooof that's wild. That PS2 deserves a whole medal!
@@TooStupidGamerz unsurprisingly that ps2 died
@@masterofyugioh1000 That soldier deserves a long, peaceful rest!
I think DW3's price point of $20 has less to do with the budget and more to do with the release date. This game was released for the PSX in 2002, 2 years after the launch of PS2.
You're probably right! Publishers set the price of the game, so they probably thought making it cheap would help with sales, and it clearly did.
I loved this game as a kid, but I did not like the battle backgrounds. They felt very flat. I think I would have liked them better if they had sweeping camera like in Legend of Dragoon, just that extra little 'oomph' to make the battles feel exciting.
Totally get what you mean. A lot of them were repeated often too which made them seem full. A remake could fix that lol
A remake of DW3 with some encounter rate adjustment items/events would be great! Also yeah, works one also holds a big place in our heart as well!
First change in the remake a Fast Travel system
A literal, MUST!
DW3 music is LITERALLY Megami Tensei
It is? Could you provide an example?
I had no idea lol
