Nope the optical zooms are phenomenal and the parallax is great. I was working a project on the river today and could think of all the uses for the zoom. Our other drone pilot has the Mavic 2 Pro and will liekly be upgrading as we were comparing features.

Look at the front profiles around 8:36. The Pro definitely sits higher than the just-3, presumably so that the camera gimbal doesn't quite hit the ground. This one won't be a candidate for a gimbal swap.

How far can this thing go on the rc controller? Its advertised at 15km but we all know that is BS. Also whats the actual flight time in normal? We all know its not 43min lol. I got the mini 2 and its advertised at 31 min. Im getting like 15 min averages. Maybe 20 if i push it to 0%. So yeah, the mavic 3 pro aint 43 min. Lol
I’ve just completed the brilliant UAVHub A2CofC course and am confident of passing the exam. I did this with the expectation of purchasing the Mavic 3 classic with all the advantages it has over my mini 3 pro. But now I’m having second thoughts. If I still do get the Mavic 3 I intend to break two of the fundamental CAA rules and often fly it from my garden, as I do my mini 3. Then I’ll take it up to say a couple of hundred feet and immediately fly it on to where I will follow the rest of the CAA rules regarding separation etc. I will do this on the basis that it’s extremely unlikely to crash and even more unlikely to damage anything even if it did. As for breaking the VLOS rule that I have consistently broken with my mini 3 pro, my feeling is this. The reason I see this rule consistently being broken is that it’s unreasonable to expect a pilot to see the orientation of one’s drone even as close as 150 metres when one is inevitably looking at one’s screen frequently as well. And at 500 metres away the same applies. So the question is do I still buy the superb Mavic 3 classic bearing in mind what I’ve said?
The texture details doesn't seem to be there with the 70mm and the 166mm lenses. I've now watched all the big UA-camrs and see the same pattern across all the videos. It looks great when you have colorful objects but as soon as these objects are darker the textures disappear.
Great video. I put mine on order by 0910. I got the rc pro controller combo. The main question I have is will this fit in most hard cases for a mavic 3? I need a waterproof hard case as I will take this kayaking and then shooting footage of hazards. I need a quality case that I can rely on.
that a good point, I'm going to check this, it should fit as the drone itself is the same just has a larger camera bump but that should still be protected by the foam padding on the case

Can you also get ND filters for that DJI Mavic 3 Pro? Finally, when you go anywhere in Europe, do you have to register your drone in order to fly it. For example in Spain or France if you wish to fly it there.. From Lewis in Southport.
yes I registered with the FAA, super cheap and do the TRUST test which is free and again not a hassle. Its a good practice to research the country going and just google register drone usa for example and most of the time it'll take you to the correct page
Darren - i think people would be interested to know that all Fly More combos have a 100w charging brick, AND the 3 battery charging hub is different. You need the different part number hub to get 100 watt charging. Saw the 2 different hubs on DJI Store. When Mavic 3 came out people were buying 100 watt chargers and claiming faster charge times..true, but only single battery charging in the drone. Now we have a 35w fater charge rate.

Quick question. Is there a Noise Reduction and Sharpening setting finally like on the Mini 3 Pro. With both sharpening and NR turned to -2 I get much better latitude (cleaner shadows with way more detail) and a much more organic looking image. Looks much better than the Mavic 3 Classic to me atm.
I have a video on my YT channel - not public atm - comparing Mavic 3, mini3 Pro, Air 2s and Mavic 2 Pro- and the video quality is surprisingly close to each other - one stands out: the Mavic 2 Pro - HQ mode is significantly better than all of them ! Much more deatiled - not sharpened - there are tons more detail when zooming into in post. Very strange. But the mini3P is great indeed.
Lost some money selling the M3 Classic but i don’t regret it at all..my Rc Pro is waiting for its new master, just sad the original M3 is not on sale now at Dji’s store.. discontinued maybe.
Correct me if I am wrong but I believe you mentioned in several videos that the difference between Mavic 3 Classic and Mavic 3 was just the lens with the ability to zoom in more and that the need was very little there. What has changed to have more zoom capability to make this so much better?
good point, so the mavic 3 zoom the only optical lens was at 7x and it wasn't a great quality lens. This Mavic 3 Pro has 3 dedicated lenses now, so the zoom is more less a gimmick and actually really useful

Nice review Darren, it's certainly one hell of a monster and seems to be the drone the Mavic 3 was meant to be, shame about the C2/A2 classification though. Not too bad though, I think you can fly this the same as the Air2S with A2 CofC? 30M from people? To be honest flying over people is what the Mini 3 is for. I wouldn't want a Mavic 3 falling on my head!!! One issue I have is that looking at the buying options on the DJI Website, there seems to be only DJI-RC or RC-Pro handset options. Quite annoying if you already have the DJI-RC with the Mini 3 Pro. Having spare DJI-N1's is bad enough, but having spare DJI-RC's is annoying. Did I get that right? Being a Mini 3P + Air2S with DJI-RC guy. It is hard to upgrade from that setup to the Mavic 3. If there was an option for Mavic 3 Pro without controller then that would be much better.
It almost sounds like you are paid to say all of this - you mention those lenses so many times but didn't once show the full screen image of the zoom - what's the image like? is it as bad as the mavic 3? saying it's amazing is one thing but showing it would be good corroboration. The features are almost identical to the predecessors so the zoom function and image quality is paramount here.
All very nice but why force customers to buy whole new drone package when they should of just made interchangable cameras easy to swap and change, also it would of been better to have one 4/3 6k/60fps capable camera with variable optical up to say 20x, just about making more money I guess, and why has mavic 3 suddenly become out of stock/not available in your country in Uk at least. In this repect Autel is better as you could just change the cameras on their Evo II pro models instead of being forced to buy a new drone, basically the same drone again just to change the camera. Seems like they just added extra relatively cheap camera to get more drone sales. Guess I'll skip this upgrade at least Mavic 3 is C1 for EU. I take it that it still does 28x digital or did they remove that option. What I would really like is an Inspire 3 type drone only the size of this one, guess I have to wait.
DJI taking it’s marketing strategy from Apple and the mobile phone industry. This is not a game changer it’s an update on an already great drone that tbh wasn’t that much of a massive upgrade from a Mavic 2 Pro. This is all just spin, how many times have people upgraded phones to quite quickly feeling “buyers remorse” Who would invest in a slightly better drone of this weight when there’s no certainty whatsoever that drone laws won’t become even more restrictive ?

@@DMProductions I knew it was heavier, but is the actual drone bigger, it looks ever so slightly taller then the other mavic, and it looks like the arms/motors have been ever so slightly reworked, but it could just be the angle of the video, do you know if the main camera has been tweaked in any way? there was rumours of a newer sensor being used in the new model which should in turn produce better images, but that a rumour, DJI dont usually confirm the sensors used so wasnt sure if this was accurate or not
Weight is over 900g is not so good in Europe. Only 4/3" has sense here, other is so bad... I waste my time waiting for this drone, maybe another mavic will be better. :) Better for me is weight less than 900g and two lenses 28mm and 70mm or other, both with 4/3" with f2.8-11 aperture
I gather that the new mavic 3 pro is too heavy for C1 class and would be a C2 class instead. I live in republic of Ireland EU so Will trade in my mini 3 pro for original mavic 3 instead and apply for the dji retro C1 label class as that's more important to me than the third lens.

hey thanks, well no its a 50m separation distance from uninvolved people so over towns is fine as long as nobody is under you or within 50 meters. However without the a2 its a 150m separation distance so well worth getting - hope that helps

Love the enthusiasm, but you didn’t mention that because the camera housing is so big it’s also very vulnerable. I have the Mavic 3, and honestly the extra 70mm doesn’t justify the high price of even the most basic model at $2199.00 plus tax here in the USA. Because I am a second unit motion picture director whenever we need a drone for complicated shots we rent the Alta X with the operator. The Mavic 3 has also been used many times. Anyway, enjoyed the video as I do all your videos. If you’re ever in the Western part or Southwest of the the US let me know, and I’ll stand you drink. I’m based in Arizona. I’m also on Facebook.
Sorry is over priced crap drone i stick with mini series better. I dont see any reason why pay so much for this bad drone . And i think is mavic 2 pro sensor are way more better in details and procesing imformation. Mavic 3 pro sensor is old sony imx272 is from 2017y. And i m not talking about how zoom works! Is so crap . Why they just dont make optical zoom in main camera like mavic 2 zoom? Dji going big steps back.
DJI mavic 4 pro...now with 4 cameras (next year 😅) Jokes aside the drone looks pretty cool. If possible can you do a tracking and collision prevention review compared to the skydio 2? I saw a few comparison videos between DJI and Skydio 2 and DJI got it's ass kicked in that respect hands down. So I'm really hoping DJI has improved in that respect.
Mavic 4 isnt going to be released next year. Will take at least 2 years. Always the case between Mavic pro releases. You will have to wait long. Fake rumor spreading on social media.

Does the gimbal lock when powered off, like the Mavic 3?

30 mins that was in some crazy winds and testing all the features, plus you get 3 batteries in the combo so 90mins easy flight time

I asked DJI the same, it already comes with the C2 certification, the C2 label is on the side sticker above the 82db sticker apparently.

Lost some money selling the M3 Classic but i don’t regret it at all..my Rc Pro is waiting for its new master, just sad the original M3 is not on sale now at Dji’s store.. discontinued maybe.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe you mentioned in several videos that the difference between Mavic 3 Classic and Mavic 3 was just the lens with the ability to zoom in more and that the need was very little there. What has changed to have more zoom capability to make this so much better?
good point, so the mavic 3 zoom the only optical lens was at 7x and it wasn't a great quality lens. This Mavic 3 Pro has 3 dedicated lenses now, so the zoom is more less a gimmick and actually really useful

Nice review Darren, it's certainly one hell of a monster and seems to be the drone the Mavic 3 was meant to be, shame about the C2/A2 classification though. Not too bad though, I think you can fly this the same as the Air2S with A2 CofC? 30M from people? To be honest flying over people is what the Mini 3 is for. I wouldn't want a Mavic 3 falling on my head!!!
One issue I have is that looking at the buying options on the DJI Website, there seems to be only DJI-RC or RC-Pro handset options. Quite annoying if you already have the DJI-RC with the Mini 3 Pro. Having spare DJI-N1's is bad enough, but having spare DJI-RC's is annoying. Did I get that right?
Being a Mini 3P + Air2S with DJI-RC guy. It is hard to upgrade from that setup to the Mavic 3. If there was an option for Mavic 3 Pro without controller then that would be much better.

Great Video! Wish is came with a controller free option. Don't really need another controller and it would bring down the price a bit more.
It almost sounds like you are paid to say all of this - you mention those lenses so many times but didn't once show the full screen image of the zoom - what's the image like? is it as bad as the mavic 3? saying it's amazing is one thing but showing it would be good corroboration. The features are almost identical to the predecessors so the zoom function and image quality is paramount here.
All the shots with the 3x or 7x lens have text in the corner showing that in action

All very nice but why force customers to buy whole new drone package when they should of just made interchangable cameras easy to swap and change, also it would of been better to have one 4/3 6k/60fps capable camera with variable optical up to say 20x, just about making more money I guess, and why has mavic 3 suddenly become out of stock/not available in your country in Uk at least. In this repect Autel is better as you could just change the cameras on their Evo II pro models instead of being forced to buy a new drone, basically the same drone again just to change the camera. Seems like they just added extra relatively cheap camera to get more drone sales. Guess I'll skip this upgrade at least Mavic 3 is C1 for EU. I take it that it still does 28x digital or did they remove that option. What I would really like is an Inspire 3 type drone only the size of this one, guess I have to wait.
DJI taking it’s marketing strategy from Apple and the mobile phone industry. This is not a game changer it’s an update on an already great drone that tbh wasn’t that much of a massive upgrade from a Mavic 2 Pro. This is all just spin, how many times have people upgraded phones to quite quickly feeling “buyers remorse” Who would invest in a slightly better drone of this weight when there’s no certainty whatsoever that drone laws won’t become even more restrictive ?

@@DMProductions I knew it was heavier, but is the actual drone bigger, it looks ever so slightly taller then the other mavic, and it looks like the arms/motors have been ever so slightly reworked, but it could just be the angle of the video, do you know if the main camera has been tweaked in any way? there was rumours of a newer sensor being used in the new model which should in turn produce better images, but that a rumour, DJI dont usually confirm the sensors used so wasnt sure if this was accurate or not
Well, at this point, with the different Mavic 3's and Mini 3 Pro, there 's not much need for an Air Series
Weight is over 900g is not so good in Europe.
Only 4/3" has sense here, other is so bad...
I waste my time waiting for this drone, maybe another mavic will be better. :)
Better for me is weight less than 900g and two lenses 28mm and 70mm or other, both with 4/3" with f2.8-11 aperture
Thats why you were not posting leaks. Your sponsored by DJI now 😆 M3P has one big disadvantage. You cant fly in A1 airspace. Only in A2 and A3.
I gather that the new mavic 3 pro is too heavy for C1 class and would be a C2 class instead. I live in republic of Ireland EU so Will trade in my mini 3 pro for original mavic 3 instead and apply for the dji retro C1 label class as that's more important to me than the third lens.
Yeah it’s over 900g unfortunately so the original mavic may fit your needs better

hey thanks, well no its a 50m separation distance from uninvolved people so over towns is fine as long as nobody is under you or within 50 meters. However without the a2 its a 150m separation distance so well worth getting - hope that helps

Love the enthusiasm, but you didn’t mention that because the camera housing is so big it’s also very vulnerable. I have the Mavic 3, and honestly the extra 70mm doesn’t justify the high price of even the most basic model at $2199.00 plus tax here in the USA. Because I am a second unit motion picture director whenever we need a drone for complicated shots we rent the Alta X with the operator. The Mavic 3 has also been used many times. Anyway, enjoyed the video as I do all your videos. If you’re ever in the Western part or Southwest of the the US let me know, and I’ll stand you drink. I’m based in Arizona. I’m also on Facebook.

Sorry is over priced crap drone i stick with mini series better. I dont see any reason why pay so much for this bad drone . And i think is mavic 2 pro sensor are way more better in details and procesing imformation. Mavic 3 pro sensor is old sony imx272 is from 2017y. And i m not talking about how zoom works! Is so crap . Why they just dont make optical zoom in main camera like mavic 2 zoom? Dji going big steps back.
Damn that is...that is a lot less expensive than I expected. I had $3700 in my head for some reason and I never even considered the remote aspect.

DJI mavic 4 pro...now with 4 cameras (next year 😅) Jokes aside the drone looks pretty cool. If possible can you do a tracking and collision prevention review compared to the skydio 2? I saw a few comparison videos between DJI and Skydio 2 and DJI got it's ass kicked in that respect hands down. So I'm really hoping DJI has improved in that respect.

I can't see this being so much better for what i do as i rarely use the zoom. Let's not forget we've got laws on VLOS to consider. Im good with my M3 atm maybe in a couple of years when I've had my use of it by then we will be on the mavic 5 and this will be a bargain basement price
Yep and the zoom lenses give us more flexibility on maintaining VLOS while getting up close to subject matter.
