Gary Holt! Just reading about you and others recoup from covid, thank god!! You were a friend of my son Jim Lapin. We lost Jim, Oct 1993. A month or so later you and Exodus and other bands organized a benefit concert for him - meant so much!! Stay well!!
I love Rainbow , Ritchie Blackmore's is my favorite guitar player haha my favorite stuff from them though is the live stuff when they would play a song for like 15-25 minutes just jamming out , sick stuff
@pjket4229at leads yeah, but not at rhythm. Gary would never have been able to play Metallica’s riffs the way Hetfield did on the albums. Especially Blackened and Dyers Eve. I’m sure Gary could have played those songs. But not the way Hetfield did. Only Hetfield can play them the way Hetfield did. Even Gary says Hetfield is probably the best rhythm guitarist out there.
I sincerely appreciate Gary Holt’s talent and for stepping up and helping Slayer. He is the perfect person for that job. His work with exodus is superb. I wish you health, success and lots of peace.
He actually is not really tall. Just his appearance in the 70s made him a larger than life figure. A band that was tall: Kiss. Every member of the original Kiss lineup, Ace, Peter, Gene, Peter, were all *over* 6' tall. With their height without boots and makeup, it did make them unrecognizable. Most people thought that they were not actually tall guys.
@@billthompson5644 I actually knew that. Blackie said he called Chris Holmes and asked his height and hair color before he asked about his guitar playing. As shallow as it was, Blackie knew that he needed a Hollywood image to make it.

@pjket4229 I used to hold it normally then i quit a few years. During that time I became a major alcoholic and got a huge beer gut. So when I got a new guitar I couldn't hold it the same anymore. It sucks bad
I met Gary back in 1988. Exodus were playing with M.O.D. He was really cool.. just like he doesn't agree with Nugent's politics, I don't agree with Gary's but I, too, can separate music from the politics and it is my opinion that he is one of the best Metal (not just Thrash) guitarists today. G

Gary was always an underrated beast
Organized Chaos Absolutely!
Saddly Exodus didn´t did really well after Bonded by blood, so Gary never got too much spotlight.

Nate Gin comparatively commercially ? No they didn’t , I love em but they where always very underground compared to a lot of their contemporaries .
Slayer/Exodus
That is so badass
Trospher hes the most badass guitarist out there, or one of them at least
Paul Bostaph (the drummer) was also with Slayer and Exodus.

He's got great phrasing, you instantly feel the groove, no drums needed. Like with hetfield, dimebag, gibbons and hendrix.

Wow he's a big Rainbow fan.. thats awesome, great taste for music boy!
Apparently a my chemical romance fan too.
the way he's holding the guitar is unsettling, my mind wants it to be a Flying V
Exactly 😂😂
It's an optical illusion, it's actually a V painted to look like a single cut.
He probably just likes having his neck more upright, plus with his back being fked up he probably does that so he isn't hunched over at all
Jared Branson he did spend quite a long time playing Vs
Lmao it is!!! Its fuckin uncomfortable af to sit down with and play. I own one.

One of my favourite guitarists
Gary Holt is the man, saw Slayer last week and they are still killing it.
I have seen Gary Holt twice in one night in Vancouver Canada He played 2 sets that night Exodus and Slayer
I love the sound of bleeps and pick scratching in the morning.
Sure glad he had his amp up loud enough to hear those riffs over the sound of the pick.
I saw Slayer live, and they are amazing, rip slayer, I cant believe they are retiring
no, they are retiring from touring and making music as slayer
Absolute beast! Love both Exodus and Slayer!
Caught one of his guitar picks during Slayers set in July!
Such an almost machine-like guitar god. Gary does not even need to look at his guitar to play anything. What a beast.
Years and years of practice 😂
Did he say his favorite riff from Slayer?
Thank you, sincerely. /w\SlayeriZer/w\

No but it's angle of death. He has said that was the first slayer song that blew him away and still does.
At least they changed the title. And thanks Jeremy, thats what I came here for.
