When Holt became a Slayer member I was really sad, I didn't know the guy and it felt like Slayer had Hanneman replaced. With the years I started appreciating Holt more and more...without him Slayer couldn't continue, and as a fan I feel like that's what metal's about.

TRUE STORY: When I was in the Air Force I went to a mall in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and they had a music store with nothing but bootleg cassette tapes. LOL I saw Exodus 'Bonded By Blood', and I shit you not, because of the super-strict Muslim laws over there regarding showing of the body, the 2 babies on the cover of the album had clothes literally drawn on them with a marker!!! It was hilarious! It was crazy - if there was still room left on the tape, they would just throw some other random band on there to fill it up...
I live in Saudi and I blast Exodus and other stuff loudly in the car and at home. I also wear my Tempo of the Damned t-shirt that I got when I saw Exodus in Virginia in 2007. Now Saudi is much less strict, Exodus can come play here without any problem as long as there is no blasphemy in the lyrics. I'm a Moroccan thrasher and black metal head.

the part about Steve Zetro Souza is so true! I met the band in Denver back in Dec and everyone was laid back and chill. But Steve was so energetic and happy to taalk to his fans. He treated me like I was his kin or something.
I gotta say, although I got into Exodus listening to the Baloff/Souza stuff, now I wish Rob were still in the band. Dude was fucking intense and delivered great live.
I’ve always though Rob Dukes was a very strong addition to Exodus when he joined. Zetro I didn’t feel was fit and Paul may he rest in peace. His vocals were powerful and unique and a great fit for the band and excellent in Generation Kill, but I still think Exodus should bring Rob back.

Thank God for Gary Holt. IMO Exodus should have been one of the big 4, still, because of him, we got 6 more years of Slayer, the greatest HM band of all time. No one else could have replaced Jeff Hanneman better than Holt!

In Slayer he's laying down some solos and maybe contributing a riff or two, but nothing like the writing he does in Exodus. He's still pretty new to Slayer and has gotten a bit caught up in it, but as the years progress and his role solidifies in Slayer, he'll come back to Exodus more and more. At least I hope.
