    That's such an impressive flight path down the San Bernardino valley then past downtown and the Hollywood sign. What impresses me most about LA is the dramatic mountain ranges.

      Agreed. Many of us native Angelenos take them for granted. However, when they are full of snow, they are breathtaking.

      I've hiked the San Gabriel Mountain thousands of times, many Angelenos don't even realize that there's a huge open space of wilderness just an a few miles outside of LA. Underrated wilderness.

      @@Risky2k9 Agreed. I have to admit I'm guilty of taking them for granted. I've only hiked them a few times. However, the one place I have visited more and cherish it, is Griffith Park. Much of it is in its natural state and many Angelenos also take it for granted. The first time I went horseback riding was at Griffith Park. I've done much more hiking at GP and visited the various facilities numerous times. I'm grateful for this wonderful resource. I just wished it was more readily available via public transit.

      @theexmann I don't live in southern Cali, but one of my oldest friends I grew up with moved out there, and he lived in San Bernardino (just south of Hwy 15 shown at 1:45) and I visited him there. He eventually wanted to move a bit closer to the coast, got an apartment in El Monte (he didn't like it around there so much), but he then bought a house between Anaheim and Huntington Beach (I think he said it's Fountain Valley, and he liked it there (last time I talked to him, haven't visited him there), he just couldn't afford it in that area when first moving to Cali). I'm not sure if he'd been to Griffith Park or not, he may have

    The best, most embracing filming of an approach into LAX I have seen. You covered about the entire LA metropolitan area, and your zooms were great. Thanks so much for posting!

      Could be a number of them. The most likely would be ONT(Ontario) but if it's a little further east it might be SBD (San Bernardino). Just depends on the flight path.

    “LA isn’t a real city, it’s a giant suburb! There’s no core there!”

    “Yeah but downtown is small”

    • @theexmann
      @theexmann 3 роки тому +3

      It's growing everyday. It's much bigger than people think. It also depends on where you think the boundaries are for DTLA. There are basically four areas. The historic core or old DTLA/Civic Center area, The Arts District to the East, South DTLA, and Bunker Hill to the West. All those areas keep expanding expect the historic core. However, the historic core has been going through a renaissance as has all of L.A.

      @@theexmann I know, I live in DTLA. People who say LA is like a suburb don’t know what they’re talking about.

    • @theexmann
      @theexmann 3 роки тому +2

      @@chairmanofrussia Agreed. I've lived in the L.A. area all my life. Compared to when I was going to USC in the 80s and now, it's like night and day. I drove through many streets in DTLA after I got out of work on a Friday night one day to see how all the various construction projects were advancing before Covid and I was absolutely amazed at how dynamic it was at 8pm. People were walking all over the place. Young families, couples, people eating out, having a drink, and walking their dogs! In the 80s, on a Friday night, almost everything was shut down except for a few eateries and bars. It was more like a business center. I'm seriously thinking of moving to DTLA too in large part as I get older, I don't want to drive everywhere. DTLA has the most public transit options in SoCal, and I really liked the energy I felt even just driving around.
