I love the short dances in between killing anything in the way, not touching the floor and moving from one side of the map to the other faster than it takes Samus in Other M to mention the Baby in every monologue.
Crystal Flash its called. When you're low on health you expend something like 10 missiles, 10 super missiles and 10 power bombs to restore health. You can only do it when you've less than 50 health and no reserve left. Select power bombs, and hold Down+L+R+Fire to do it

I remember having my mind blown when the in-game demo actually revealed the existence of crystal flash. I had to look on gamewinners.com to find out how to do it. Awesome secret to have in the game.
the way momentum is kept even while in morph ball and in space jumps is so fucking cool. this just gave me a new appreciation for the physics in this game. unfortunately very difficult to keep so much speed, though.
"Honey, we have to leave the house in an hour, make sure you're ready." "No problem, just going to 100% Super Metroid real quick and I'll be good to go."
I really hope someone would edit out other super metroid TASes, just like they did with this one. It gets so much more fun to watch. Can't wait for the next 100% TAS, implementing the moonfall glitch...

What a speed run. 😅 Really awesome. Already amazing. 😇 And what moments and scenes. And all the hiding places ran so fast.😋 Just fantastic. A high on speed runs. 😄 Very good video! 👍
Think of it as the difference between composing music in a program on your computer, and playing music live at a concert. The former is TASing (you have as long as you like to tweak everything to perfection), the latter is speedrunning (have to get it right in one go)
This is totally RTA viable. We just need a savant with the power of time travel and the ability to tap multiple buttons on their controller every frame.
I don't think you understand how tool-assisted speedruns are made. They are made by a player, above-average or not, playing the game in super slow motion or frame by frame, saving states and reloading when things go wrong, very tediously going through the game step by step to carefully craft a finished product. The only sense in which TASers are "gods" is that TASing requires godlike perseverance, because it takes a really damn long time.
@@rubensfarias4995 Hmm i see that was power bomb did not not counter? and HP Tank reason i dont see any....Weird. I look no one shoot and a power bomb did not count and wall soft is not open? Anyone know glitch?.
@@wimyjohn7159 The actual explanation is that by using arm pumping you can get Samus to move forward one extra pixel per frame, which gives enough time to clear the shutters.
Varia suit is deselected to enable the stand-up glitch at Mother Brain and also allow a far more convenient setup for the Crystal Flash at Golden Torizo.
I'm really sad with the community TASVideos, because before I could not resgistrar the forum. Now I want you to get all the way to see this TAS "Super Metroid Redesign" if someone please give me the link to download an emulator sure I even missed doing SAD.
Semantics, I know, but the creation of a TAS isn't really "playing" a game. TASers are more appropriately called "authors" because it's a bit like writing a book.
yes but the speedrun was first made legit by a human so there are really humans that play the game like a god and they use their speedrun for people to download it ;)
john katsaros Technically, no. Anyone could do this with enough patience. All you have to do is find an emulator with the correct tools (savestates and frame-by-frame) to do the entire run, insuring every frame is perfect. The input is recorded as a "movie" and made downloadable, usually people use this to edit it and make it even faster.
This is a tool assisted speedrun. Human uses tools in an emulator to get precise inputs (frame by frame if need be) to get an optimal speedrun. It can go beyond what humans can do sometimes.
No transitions is truly a thing of beauty.

This is the most impressive speedrun I've ever watched. Incredible
wtf, didn't even save animals
0_0 (just beat this game yesterday) You are a mad lad in norfair xD
This is the greatest game to watch a TAS speedrun
This is the type of Samus that should chase you in Fusion.
The game would be impossible lol

P.S.: Nice tool. :)
That end though. Got a chuckle out of me.
Imagine being like "I have to leave for work in 40 minutes, let me just beat Super Metroid real quick"
It's so much better and very fun to watch without all the time wasting item jingles and elevator cutscenes.
So awesome it had to be uploaded twice!
Sad to see that there aren't that many TAS SM runs around. But still, nice one, pretty fast-paced.
That shinespark at the end though, hah.
Thank you for saving the precious time of mine by cutting transitions.
Thought I might be able to use this as a 100% guide, until it came to the lava area, oof.

Those editing skills are beautiful.
Rounds down, 00:35:59 would become 00:35. The animation when getting a new suit adds to the ingame time, yes.
This run scared the shit outta me. Just the fact that it's so.. damn fast :')
I loved it. Blinding speed is the way to go. Especially how he killed Ridley in only 11 seconds. :D
i wish i could like this a million more times cause thats soooo true
I think he's on about saving the animals *sigh*
I can't believe door transitions make up half the gameplay time

14:17 is the most savage damage boost ive ever fukken seen
I can totally get behind removing all door transitions and item jingles for games; would make Zelda a lot faster.
Well boys we did it, transitions are no more
I wish there was an encode of this with controller-input shown.
All loading time and cutscenes have been removed, which is why the video is so short.
