The lichdragon Fortissax, a fallen icon of the once lording ancient dragons, second only to the mighty Placidusaxx. Companion of Godwyn, and defiler of death itself, fighting long and hard. The reward? Undeath, a twisted fetish of the great dragon's power, as his rotting shambling corpse, still robed in Majesty and lightning stalks his companion's curse, hunting any who would further defile his friend. And then you arrive, robed in a different type of undeath, unable to die, and yet still fighting onwards. Using tooth, claw, sword, breath, and blood. You reawaken a glimmer of his old courage, his dedication to the ancient dragons. His will to live, if only briefly, recalling his techniques taught and refined by his sister. His signature dual red lightning stakes. Almost as though he was aware of his fate, and wanted to fight as Fortissax, not the litchdragon. (Just some food for thought, maybe it's dumb, but it comes to mind.)

Something that this game shows is that you can never have perfect order and, no matter how close you get, there will be caveats. I love how the ancient dragons have such an elegant, intelligent way of fighting in Elden Ring. They aren't animalistic or sporadic like their counter parts in Dark Souls. Instead, the ancient dragons of Elden Ring act with style and prowess, even fashioning their own weaponry via the lightning magic they're able to channel(as is evident by Gransax's bolt, or the bolt that Placidusax plunges into the ground to cause that massive nuclear explosion in his arena). It's all very fitting for an ancient race of mythological beasts that, lore wise, are vastly more intelligent and wise than mere mortals.

@@ThatOneAudioTeam There was actually no mention of Fortissax's gender
@@virael3801 Actually, that is a fair point. I just assumed he was a dude since it made sense.
@@virael3801 it's mentioned that he's lansseax's brother

Something about this attack and music is god tier 4:28
Literal chills
And I thought Midir was such a badass fight....Its like they took the best of all dragons fights in Souls and then added in the designs of Yu gi Oh's latests dragons that look all kaiju-space-heroic-demonic. Its such eye-candy for the little kid that lives within all of us
3:35 I just Imagine Fortisax saying 'no no, not like that, more like THIS..'
The fact that he does that twice too.
Fighting an ancient dragon with lightning based attacks is like trying to kill an elephant with a sewing needle
I remember the whole time just thinking.
“This is so fucking cool” while getting my ass whooped
It’s not dumb, it’s an awesome interpretation 🔥⚡️⚡️
Who would have the better boss theme:
Melania, blade of miqula, goddess of rot, and hardest FromSoft boss yet.
Or
One lich dragon boi.
hitting him on the head looks to be quite a finicky affair
yet staying in front seemingly yields a more visually appealing fight and now even more so with the sound of those mighty Organ keys in the players ear
Damn fight actually looks good when you lock on which is rare for dragon boss
you may have missed most your attacks but i like the fact that you fight face to face and aiming for the head. Most would just cheese or attack his hind legs like a true tarnished
Such a spectacle of a boss fight 👏
I actually think you make the fight cooler as a mage, I can't figure out how to play anything other than melee so I was mostly watching his legs for this fight. You're straight up dueling him!
Ah yes I can't wait for Midir 2.0 in the last dlc.
Midir with 8 heads, 4 hands, 10 wings, red lightning with holy diarrhea that comes out of the lightning strike, and of course the best track in the game.
I would pay everything i have for boss like that
@@sfogel We'd get something close if there's a DLC that includes placidusax at his prime lmao.
@@benucho3016 yeah lol
so far there isn't a dragon in sight in the trailer...
“Erm, well that just happened.”
-Sun Tzu
I love him so much
Don't you love the atmosphere of this boss it's so gorgeous
5:05
Fortissax: "lol. lmao."
I listened to this track so much on its own, it's almost weird to have fighting a dragon going on
For me, this fight has the best music and visuals in all of elden ring.
5:13 he really did not like you used his sister's move.
This guy needs a 2nd phase cutscene which it grafts with Godwyn corpse or the great tree
With his size and weight godwyn would probably crush him 😂
That edge walk near the end
All this pain and suffering... All because of Ranni's scheme to kill and assassinate for her order. Something that this game shows is that you can never have perfect order and, no matter how close you get, there will be caveats. For the golden order, was flawed in many ways, and the things Ranni had to do to make her order, and even just to free herself from the shackle of the greater will.
I didn't notice how much the sky box changes during the fight. Looks sick.
one of the best looking boss in the game
4:31 is some of the coolest looking shit in video games, jesus christ that goes hard
5:10 "We are the Tarnished who built this town!" Vibes right there.
I never understood why the devs decided to put this one as a midgame boss, literally the greatest dragon in the game, he deserves to be a late game boss right up there with Malenia and Mohg.
If he had more life, he should be one of the hardest boss i fought with a rl1
black semi gold dragon with red lightning and fire, this boss is awesome need 5-6 more different attack pattern and 4x health
Holy fuck I just noticed how good this ost is.
2 Edgy lord fighting each other
É um tanto irônico que a principal fraqueza dos dragões de Dark Souls, seja o elemento dominante dos dragões de Elden Ring.
You are a saint for making this vid
I've fought him twice, didn't know he had a second phase. Earthshaker OP.
I fell in love with this boss the moment I saw him leap to the skies and summon a lightning sword to strike me.
That, and the ost is godly.
I just fought his boss fight and the glitch still happened where the second phase music didn’t play, although I’ve installed the latest patch and was waiting for the second phase music to kick in
I love how the ancient dragons have such an elegant, intelligent way of fighting in Elden Ring. It's all very fitting for an ancient race of mythological beasts that, lore wise, are vastly more intelligent and wise than mere mortals.
fortissax is such a tragic character, a true friend to godwyn but corrupted in the end
This music is terrifying...BUT I LOVE IT!
Looks like all those dragon fights in Farum Azula are going to pay off
5:06
Fortissax: let me show how to actually scrath it.
He never even went to phase two against me
It was probably because you killed him too fast or you fought him before patch 1.03
@@mastija2081 he’s still bugged post 1.03 unfortunately, phase 2 triggering is a rare occurrence that only a lucky few get to witness lol
That’s weird, when I fight him it triggers every time
@@lothricknight4221 If you do too damage he doesn't activate phase 2 at around 60 percent like he's supposed to, but he may do the attack later. That is of course if you don't kill him quickly
Cool fight between two dragons.
From soft will make the best bosses and sickest lord in gaming and hide it where nobody will find it.
3:39 is so fucking cool
wish i could fight this guy without doing fias questline
Why?
It is easy to be honest, just keep letting her hug you until you get "talk in secret" option, exhaust her dialogue and she will give you a dagger, give it to D, reload the area, then go to the room near blacksmith Hewg, you will find D dead and Fia is next to him, talk to her and she'll disappear, now go to Nokron and kill the Valiant Gargoyles duo, it is not difficult, the gargoyles are the only PAINFUL thing to do to reach Fortissax.
@@Lepoetism You dont have to even go that way if you travel through the leyndell dungeons and kill mohg the omen theres a hidden wall behind him follow down there and there'll be a hidden wall later on leading you to the deeproot
@@ama9385-w2g Didn't know this, thank you:D
It's so much better fighting him with Fia's questline's context tho
This fight was so epic imagine a four legged dragon just casually stands up on its two feet like a person just to drop down spears of electricity down to you just badass.
That second phase music is perhaps the dopest shit in the game
Didn't even know this was in the game
LOOK AT THE SKY! IT BUUUURNSS!!! 🔥
🔥
That transition attack is sooooo cool man
I missed out on the second phase music and when I heard it for the first time I had never felt so bad before.
Man love this video good job
This one the fromsoft bosses I will get them down to 1% hp and then PURPOSELY die so I can do the great dance with them all over again.
4:30 that was fucking sick
best soundtrack in the game (other then godskin apostle and the dragon lord)
This is the most underwhelming boss ever, despite his epicness.
For me it depends on when you fight him and how you fight him, you can make the fight harder by using pure holy incants and weapons or by fighting him with low level weapons. He’s one of the bosses that suffer from having low hp and people finding them in the late game
@@mastija2081 i fought him before i fight Morgott and by then i'm pretty much overleveled to fight him, so he's pretty much easy for me
I like how you lock on to the head even though its far better and easier to just go at his feet, makes this otherwise disappointing fight look better. I wish they made him more aggressive, maybe tone down some AoE, basically make him similar to Midir and give an incentive to be fighting him like this instead of whacking his feet. I fought all the dragons in Elden Ring and none was as exhilirating as Midir.
I wish you could replay specific bosses after completing the game entirely like it's easy to get to this dragon just takes hours
the best part about this boss is that he actually does a fair amount of damage unlike every other boss that has like 2 insta kill moves even with high vigor
I was so sad when I accidently killed him and couldn't hear the best part of the phase two song
so elegant and terrfying. 10/10
Sick biss fight man, amazing
this looks like a brother fight
Cinematic as hell
We sure this guy didn't come straight out of Monster Hunter? Seems like he'd fit right in.
this dragon's to metal af
