- Tylor and Evy interview iconic punk rock star and long-time vegan Davey Havok. Davey is the lead singer of AFI, Blaqk Audio, XTRMST and Dreamcar. He is also an author and co-host on SiriusXM’s Volume West. In this episode, Tylor finally gets to interview and personally thank the person who inspired his veganism in the first place! Also talk about the common philosophy underlying vegan and straight edge lifestyles, veganism on the punk rock scene and Davey’s early days of being vegan while on tour.

Davey is such a huge inspiration to a lot of people and also for me.😇 I can relate to so many things he says in this podcast. Having been vegetarian for about 10 years, I'm cutting down on all other animal products right now. Milk has been easy, also joghurt, but I'm having a hard time avoiding cheese. Maybe I should read "Diet for a new America."🇺🇸 Perhaps that will put me off the cheese. 🧀😉
Not sure if you're in the states, but if you have a Wegmans near you - their vegan shredded mozzarella? tastes like mozzarella. I have some cream cheese to try next, and then onto the ricotta. I've been vegetarian for close to 20 years, tried vegan once back in college but it didn't stick. TBH this episode here was like "ok ok i'll give it a shot again" So so so glad I did.
@@kataratify No, I live in Dresden, Germany. But I've found a few cheese alternatives here that I'll try out. But thanks for the tips. Keep them in mind, if I should visit the state again. 🙂
I really loved AFI for many years and had no idea that Davey was a vegan. My respect for him is even greater.

Really want to go vegan soon. Just done even know where to start tho.
I started with eschewing milk in my coffee, tea etc and used a vegan alternative. I've found a coconut and soy milk mix, that tastes good and that I can even steam for my latte. Also for yogurt I've found good alternatives. Do it step by step and not all in one go. The more you eschew the less you will crave for dairy products... 👍😉
Why does the podcast host sound like a character from a tv show for toddlers and kids. Like some magic elf that lives in a mushroom.

Funny that you say that because the host is Evanna Lynch. She's well known for playing Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter series.
