I read in an amazon review that seam grip stays sticky for a long time.

To deal with sticky residue when removing stickers I will use some "trash" to stick to it. Usually use a light paper/cloth that will shred close to dust cause it'll be trash I have near but I suppose baby powder will work as well. Obviously the color of material used matterss
