This is easily your best thumbnail by far, haha. I'm always biased towards Citizen Eco-Drive, it was my very first expensive watch ($250 with a Kohl's coupon!) that my parents got for me in college.
There will be a lot of Casio and G-Shock fans chiming in on this video 😅 G-Shocks provide shock resistance, 200m water resistance, some models offer solar, multi-band 6, Bluetooth for accuracy and are light weight too. Citizen is also popular with their eco-drive lines 👍
When I first heard of Bertucci I thought: "It's only missing solar." - et voilá. That titanium piece is the perfect field watch. I'd still get an automatic Boldr Venture, because I'm a sentimental moron, but I do have several purely functional watches (Casio GW-M5610U and F-105W) and I love when I can put them on and do *stuff.*
Interesting intro to these watches. I’d add Casio into the viable Solar option. Either G-Shock or the Lineage collections offer some remarkable, value-driven watches.
Good segment, but as others have said Casio has been in the solar game for a very long time. There are many other options out there as well. Thanks Marc. Love Bertucci, I have two from you already.
As many have mentioned CASIO make quality solar watches......even with titanium (and the money on titanium is also the band (light weight and durable)...)
I really like both, especially the Titanium version. BUT, I wish the Ti version had the same hands as the plastic/resin case. The hands are bigger and more legible AND the minute hand touches the tip of the minute markers, so very easy to tell the EXACT time as well 🙏✌️👍😀 As always, great video Mark!!! And I agree, I have a lot of solar watches, but I definitely have the most from my G-Shock collection. Tough Solar is their standard system and I won't buy anymore G-Shock's without it (except for the 2100 lineup). I wish Casio would release a Solar/Bluetooth GMA-S2100 lineup like the did with the GA-B2100 replicating the original GA-2100 CasiOak's 😢
I purchased one of the A-2T Solar Classic Titanium Field Watches with Brown Leather Strap #12803 the day (literally the minute) I got the email from Bertucci. Sorry Marc, I would have bought it from you if I knew you would have the Bertucci solar watches so soon. I have a number of Bertucci quartz watches and even the Bertucci automatic version with a Miyota 9 series movement. Bertucci quality is exceptional, and I agree, their bands are superb. This includes both their nylon and Horween leather bands. If you like field watches, and if you do not have a Bertucci, buy one! I am extremely pleased with all of mine, and the new solar and leather band are at the top of the heap. I do love manual/automatic watches, but solar really pretty much checks all the watch boxes. Reliability, long life, accuracy, low (no?) maintenance!
It's one thing to miss every 60 mark, but to miss every 5 index as well with the second hand?!? OUCH! High accuracy applies to position as well as time.
Casio is king when it comes to solar. My ten year old watch still working properly with no maintenance done to it. People who buy these expensive watches don't buy them to see the time but to collect or to admire the craftsmanship. Which I do love. But if you want an indestructible watch that will never fail you, only Casio can 😉
I really like citizen, Casio and timex if I'm going solar.. Casio wise my choice is the protrek line over stuff like the G Shock line... I personally like having the ABC and temperature functionality ( altimeter barometer compass), plus I still have all the other stuff that comes along with most watches like timer, alarms, auto light ect... Me personally I use the protrek 340t.... even if you're not an Outdoorsman like me, it comes in handy for obvious reasons and the titanium makeup of the watch itself makes it very light.... Now for the timex, I use the Timex Men's Expedition Scout Solar-Powered 40mm Watch... I this is my watch I grab as a alternative to my protrek and as a beater watch for just doing day to day stuff ( gardening, cleaning, working on the car ect...)... It's simple and if I break it I'll just go out and buy a new one.. Most of the time they are under $60 (+/-)... Now for my around town, want something that looks nice but not too flashy and still has a military feild watch look with Aviation inspired dail for ease of readability I go with the Citizen Men’s Eco-Drive 3-Hand Date Avion Watch with Leather Strap (Style: AW1361:10H)... And honestly it all comes down to your taste in what you like but within each one of these lines for the citizen Casio and Timex they have a mass variety of color shape size yada Yada... but the one thing they all have in common is there all under $200 give or take, well the protrek can be upward of $300 ish, but honestly I can't see myself spending more than $300 unless it's a nice mechanical watch like a Hamilton khaki feild king of something like that... maybe it's just me but I rather have good functionality and a reason to wear something on my wrist other than the be something shiny for people to gawk at, usually the people who buy the nice big shiny things are not after quality, they are after that name brand stuff they can show off to their friends and be like look how fancy I am and how much money I have😂... and don't get me wrong there is a place and time where you might want to have that nice Rolex or that Hamilton ect... but honestly I still think it's a big waste of money... ask for the ones you show here, I have no experience with them but they seem pretty nice but still the price does not match the functionality and quality of what I'm going to be using it for... Just my opinion of course... Anyways, thought I'd share some of my favorite watches I use on a daily / in my rotation... Thank you for your time and the video 😎✌️
I have one Citizen Echo Drive dress watch that is about 20 years old and it still runs. Never had it serviced. I have several Casio solars that are a lot less money than these including Gshock solar Bluetooth watches for a lot less. Ranges from 45 dollars to 159.00
I’ve gone to only wearing solar Gs. Preferably with Bluetooth. No fiddling around with the crown anymore. Just link up once in a long while and bam! Accurate.
Got the Citizen BN0118-04E for 300£. Amazing watch, titanium, sapphire, 300m wr, kevlar strap. Second hand hits all the marks. But I like the Bertucci’s fixed lugs, there’s no chance they may snap off or break like springbars can.
I been scouting for the A-2T with sapphire glass on their website for very long. But no response from their customer service. Glad that Marc are bringing these awesome spec watches. On my way grabbing one.
I’ve got an old Junghans SolarTek that is still running strong, as well as a few Seikos and Eco-drives and a solar Neo70s panda. I’m a fan of solar watches!
Marc, are you able to source solar watch components which have a perpetual calendar, or are those only available inside Seiko (i.e Astron) and Citizen (I.e. Attesa)? If so, I’d love to see you develop a solar line.
Great Video ! Was looking at the A-2T watch... But a crystal watch with Solar is GREAT ! Now if you can have Titanium with Tritium along with the Solar for a low price would be great... Think the Solar may use a Capacitor and not a battery... Hope the Capacitor does not leak. tjl
Titanium, especially grade 2, is a soft metal and prone to scratches. Does Bertucci, like most other solar brand watches, use a harding coating on the case ?
Thanks for sharing Marc. Bertucci make fantastic watches. Having a solar option on a titanium case … at that price?!? 😮 The ARE doing something right. (I have 4 of them 😁👍🏼)
I know it probably makes little sense for Bertucci, but I'd love to see the A1 with this solar movement. The lug-to-lug on their 40mm models is too large for my tiny wrist.

I forget the rules for adding "Swiss" to dial. Surprised me considering its an Epson movement. No complaints from me either way. Bertucci do make some nice watches.
You would need to install the photovoltaic cells. Usually,in the form of a dial. So,you are looking at replacing the entire movement with a Solar Dial. Unless you are very fond of the watch case… .😬
I read somewhere early citizen eco-drive using capacitor it's has less power reserve only for few days up to weeks but crazy long lifespan as long it's well protected from moisture and and extreme temperature so there is citizen eco-drive that already 20+ years but never need capacitor change. but today most of the solar watch using lithium which has up to 10 month power reserve but has shorter lifespan due to limited charge cycle probably up to 8 years.
Marc wow, wow, wow I love the value of these watches, I must have that titanium one. You should do joint branding with these guys. Casio G shock #5610. Bang for the buck, the best watch out there. More durable than anything else. More accurate than a Seiko spring drive. Mechanical watches need not apply. Seems that Mark doesn't carry this one, so he ignores it. Did he really think we wouldn't notice?

A casio solar combined with multi band 6/wave ceptor is the goat of grab and go quartz.
I might have one of those :)
My Casio Multiband 6 Tough Solar G-Shock is a truly perpetual calendar watch. It even adjusts for Savings Time changes.
The Pro Trek line has the same features with a slightly less Rambo style. Casios are amazing value.
I've had Casio since early 80s, I've also worn a Rolly, but my favourite all time grab and go is 5610 square.
Casio have probably the widest range of solar watches. Seiko and Citizen are runners up by comparison.
This should be pinned! How dare someone not mentioning Casio when talking about solar watches.
thank you.
I wouldn't trade my OCW-T200 or GW-M5610 for anything.
And solar isn't even the best part of Casios. Solar and radio controlled seals the deal. Talk about set and forget. My oldest wave ceptor is still going strong on the same cell after 14 years.

Indeed, perfect combo.
Most of my watches are Solar + Radio controlled.
Perfection.
I have 30 year old G-Shock Tough Solar still working on original batteries. Casio makes by far the best solar watches.
My Bertucci A-3PS Solar Field Watch #13800 arrived in short order today. Thanks Marc, this watch is amazing.
No mention of g shock solar surprised me in intro
Maybe because LIW doesn't carry them, this channel after all is a mix of watch reviews and sales
Yeah that made me sad. Tough Solar is the best solar, I say this as an owner of both Citizen & Seiko solar.
Don't sell 'em!
It was possibly done to generate more comments.
might have solar but apart from being ugly they don't make a classic field watch.
I haven't bought a watch in awhile but that titanium has everything I need. 24 hour numbers, screw down crown & solar. You keep coming out with stuff I gotta have.

I prefer the longer handsets on the polymer version. Lume also seems to be stronger as well.
