Ben, I just want to congratulate you on your content. It's pretty rare to see that level of professionalism on UA-cam. Also, I noticed you seem to have changed cameras (or at least the color grading) recently. It looks so much better now!
The price of titanium has gone through the roof probably that's the reason for the price hike and spread the cost over all the rangers of watches ,just a guess ?👍🏻🇬🇧
@MINDTHEHEADPHONE Kinda hilarious that the person that got me to waste money on in-ears, and sadly, watches, is commenting on my favorite watches youtuber.
I'm looking forward to watching this. I bought my first Bertucci field watch about a year ago and really enjoy it. It isn't perfect, but it gave me the camping feel that I was looking for when... well camping.
My A-2S is 8 yrs old and has been through hell...no scratches and keeps time great. Perhaps the illumination has decreased some... Been in streams, lakes, ponds and ocean. Mud, dirt, etc, etc. Highly recommended.
Picked mine up for $49 CAD, sale and it’s probably one of the best field watches I own. Love the single pass strap, titanium and the durability. Wait for a sale and grab one. Really can’t go wrong for the price. Made to be beaten up, solid piece. Nice review, love the channel.
Bertucci is my field watch of choice for use as an actual field watch and not just a fashion statement. It's affordable so if I damage it while hiking or camping I'm not losing several hundred dollars as I would for most Hamiltons, Citizens, or Seikos in the field watch category. It was originally an Amazon impulse buy, but it became the watch I have on my wrist most of of the time I'm in the outdoors.
I've had a Bertucci since 2020 and it's great for hiking, really legible and tough. I bought mine direct from them, even with the postage it was way cheaper than buying from a UK supplier. Would agree, if they made a solar that would be a game changer
I have an A2-T and liked it so much I sent one to our son in the Army. Rugged, very legible and good lume too. I changed the thick webbed strap for an elastic nylon band. Thinner and lighter…the thing is virtually weightless. The price increases are tough, Aubrey they’re getting more popular
Good review of Bertucci watches. I'm in Toronto Canada. I recently (Dec 2022) Amazon bought a Bertucci A-3P Sportsman watch ($90 CAD, $66 USD, £53 UK) and a Casio Duro ($97 CAD, $72 USD, £57 UK). Both prices include tax/duty. Now (April 2023) the Bertucci is ($107 CAD, $79 USD, £63 UK). Both watches are pretty nice "beater" watches, good value watches for the money. I prefer my Bertucci over my Duro, mainly because the Bertucci weighs less. One thing that stands out to me is that the lume on my Bertucci is way better than on the Casio Duro.
There are a few places online you can find these field watches without the inflated prices mentioned. I think it was said in jest, but all things considered, I do think the price hikes have a lot to do with simply global inflation. I picked mine up from Long Island Watch for around $130 after a discount offered. So like most of us have expereinced before, if you wait, you can pick one of these up for a more acceptable price. As far as build and design I don't think they beat the Lorus you reviewed so long ago. I still think that is the best field watch for the money. However, the Bertucci is better than most, if not all Timex explorers, in my humble opinion. The second hand on most Timex watches are a wobbly mess and my Bertucci has a pretty sold second hand. Great review, you certainly highlighted the best points of this watch as well as lamented on it's flaw.
I lost a couple of watches due to spring bar failure when mountain biking and so found Bertucci after some research. No problems since then. My A-1S has been my go-to rough use watch for almost a decade now and is still going strong. A couple of battery changes over the years and that's it. I have it on a black Eulit Perlon strap, which is very thin, very strong, and excellent for sweaty, dirty activities like mountain biking. Bertucci really is the King of rough use watches.
I did end up picking one of these up after the last review. Terrific field watch so far. Good points about having solar and sapphire glass. If those features were present I’d likely had gone for that model. It’s unfortunate that the smaller form factor is restricted to either the resin or polished steel. The steel has a really good feature set, but is awfully reflective for a functional watch. The resin is better in this regard, but I question how strong it is, especially when it comes to the lugs. It also happens to lack as much water resistance (only 50m). TLDR I’m happy with it, and would buy another if they applied some upgrades at a reasonable price.
I am new to 'Watch Collecting' but have found your channel REALLY good for avoiding rubbish! Thank you so much. I have decided I must have an odd wrist 'layout' as I have always had to turn the straps around/ fit the straps with the buckle on the 'bottom'. It's the only way for watches to sit comfortably on my wrist. Unusual ???? Keep up the great work !
This Christmas, my wife who knows nothing about watches, but knows I love watches, on her own researched and gave me a Hamilton Field Mechanical under the tree. It’s incredible, and cures me of needing any more field watches ever. It’s that good. Having said that, I’ll always see your content to the end because I enjoy your work that much. Cheers.
I also have the Hamilton field mechanical and it is, without question, my favorite watch in my collection. I love it so much I often lose the desire for any other watch when it's on my wrist.
Absolutely agree about solar, on a watch like this after a battery change, assuming you can get the back off, you can't guarantee is still has it's original water resistance.
I recently picked up a DX3 Plus and I wear it more often than I thought I would. I put an elastic strap on it (marine nationale-esk one piece) and it quickly became one of the most comfortable watches I own.
I have three Bertucci watches and they are great, especially for anyone doing 'harsh outdoor activities' etc. Other than an occasional battery change they just keep running and without the major weak point of many/most watches, there are no spring bars/pins to break? Plus their straps are tough, yes they're thicker than many, they to just work. No not the most accurate, brilliant, pretty, technically advanced watch in the world, BUT they just work, yes a solar powered/Eco-Drive version would be just awesome!!!!
After my Timex expedition scout finally stopped working (the crown fell off several times) i searched for another cheap field watch in 40mm size and it was imposible to find anything in the sub 120 usd, everything is too big or too small, so i got the A2S Field, Bertucci is the only company that give options to people in both size and materias, so kudos to Bertucci, also the screw down crown give confidence.
I own a Bertuchi A-2S with a green seatbelt NATO as my EDC watch but just got an A2-R with the black face as my work watch so that I have something lighter and something I am less worry about bumping around while working in the kitchen. I am absolutely in love with Bertuchi I just wish they would offer double loop NATO straps.
Hey Ben, you should take a look at the Contar MK1 field watch, it's a Portugese microbrand that only sells that single watch. Quartz, titanium, sapphire field watch with (I believe) the same movement as a Baltany D12 watch. Relatively cheap too! Would be interested in your thoughts about it since it has been barely covered at all. Picked one up myself and I like it personally. I actually picked up a bertucci A-2T and found the same issues that you did, especially with the case finishing which was the most disappointing so I returned it. Didn't like that for $210 CAD
Another excellent video, thanks 👍 Bought my son one years back...9, 10 yrs ? Still has it, doesn't wear it much any more. Now I'm thinking about getting myself one, depending on prices.
I have 3 different models and they’re fantastic. They are all about durability, functionality, and simplicity and do it very well. They certainly aren’t meant to be box queens.
I own two of these and love them. One has the nylon web band with a compass (added by me) and the other has a leather band, which I use as my dress up time piece. I bought a third (polymer) watch for my son (Army), and he loves it as well. Five things that are the sales clinchers for me, are: 1) solid titanium case w/screw down titanium back; 2) the offset (lowered) protected crystal (since I wear the watch on the inside of my wrist, I tend to crack the crystals more, but not since wearing a Bertucci for three plus years); 3) solid lugs; 4) a screw down crown that is at the 4 o'clock rather than the 3 o'clock position; 5) a quartz movement. These five points out way any perceived negatives...
Hi Ben thank you for your video! I’d like to ask a question about spray on jeans. Do you know the jeans name that spray on skintight but tapered at the ankles? I saw many lads wear them like this. Thank you!
Nice review, as always. Just checked the Bertucci A2-T prices and they hover around the 400 euros level here in France. And that's about 4x what I would be willing to pay for such watches. So thanks, but no Bertucci.
I've had the A2-T for a couple years now and it has been my preferred vacation watch when going to the lake or camping. Sapphire, 200m WR, titanium, long battery life and found new with a little searching for 100$ hard to beat the value for money.
April 2024. I purchased the DX3 model. I had wanted to get into solar watches, but the minimum bump up in price was $100 which pays for many battery changes. It was a pleasant surprise to learn that this watch had an estimated 4 years (not the usual two year estimate) of battery life.
Hello Ben. I always enjoy your vids. I have fallen deeply down the same rabbit hole as you and your followers. Vostok, Casio, Orient, Bulova, Hamilton, Rotary, Merkur, Shinola, Pagani, Timex, San Martin and Mondaine constitute my collection. My question to you is: If you didn't have any watches at all, which 3 (or 5, take your pick) would you choose? I ask, mainly, because, having about 50 watches and only 2 wrists, I would like some guidance on this matter, please. I dare say your viewers would, too. Keep on keeping on. Best. Mark - a Londoner living in Berlin. PS: Personally, I'd go Oris Big Crown Pointer Date (Roberto Clemente) - the grail, Tissot PRX Automatic (white dial with rose gold), and a Bulova Accutron. Must make room for a Casio Royale, as a beater watch, one that I already own. That's not to forget that I'm very happy with much of what I've collected to date. I'm a sucker for a small seconds complication, by the way.
I love my Bertucci. Mine is titanium, with date, 200m water resistance. I have the mineral crystal, Japanese movement, and 3 year battery. I have had over 4 years and battery still going strong. It is my daily wearer as it is so lightweight and comfortable and I can swim in it. I paid brand new $125 for it when I got it. It now sells for $155 good for me, not so good for new buyers. Regardless it is still a good value at that price as it is tough to get a nice looking field watch, with 200m, date, and titanium for under $200. Mine came with black strap and I also have a blue and gray striped strap. The straps are super comfortable and super easy to clean and swap out. I am thinking of getting the one with the sapphire crystal and 10 year battery. If I do I would probably give this one away.
Had an A-2S for a few years, great watch but rough between the lugs, as you mentioned. Also, the prices have always been steeper here in the UK; Blighty tax...
Had my eye on these for years but the lugs always put me off. Good looking watches though for sure and right up my alley. As to the finishing between the lugs - Vostoks take the crown here. Rough as a badgers ass is being generous! (I've bought loads of 'em!). Timex 'standard' grade watches are really junky watches in my opinion. As you mentioned, chromed brass and very shaky second hand recoil doesn't instill confidence. I'd now never buy a normal (quartz) Timex based on my past purchases. Nice review Ben 👍
Ben, really enjoying your content. I wanted to ask - have you ever encountered Raymond Weil watches? They are entry level, relatively old Swiss brand with quite interesting collections. Though no reviews anywhere. Mb an idea for review…
2:12 If I remember correctly it’s actually “Al-oo-min-um,” the reason behind this was a typo in a newspaper when it was first discovered, which typed it as “Aluminium”.
I own a Bertucci A 2T bought 3 years ago - it was hard to ship one to France then. Tremendous watch, all what you need for any activity. I wear it more than any other of my watches, even the Baltic Aquascaphe.
Honestly I like betucci a lot but they are specialised in field watches which I'm not huge on. Would love to see them branching out to other styles as I would be very interested in how they carry over their style
I haven't killed a field watch yet playing violin and I think a standard one will be fine for me unless I triathlon train in the future. Good review without any waffle...
I love my two watches. I have a plastic and titanium case which I wear daily for work. I believe it's all the little things that make up the watches up is their worth.
Nice video, thanks for that! I´m into field and military-style watches. My handicap is my 21.5 inch wrist - and there are a lot of nice 36 to 38mm watches outside... So I was pleased to see you refering to the bigger versions of Bertucci. But then I looked at the Bertucci A-5S in 45mm --- for 439 Euro!!!!!!!!!! Which drugs are served there ❓❓❓ Thanks, Ben, looking forward to your next video 👍
@@dhanrajpatil5087 Hey Ben, I was just looking at my order history. I bought this 5/29/24 for $85 with a coupon for $42.50 off. I guess I got lucky. I see they're going for $100 as well.
The Hoween (brand name) leather is very thick, the 44mm is very comfortable to read for 7.75" wrist, I have the A4T super yankee, and the lume is disappointing. Nato straps works well with reducing the height on the watch. If you really need lume, I would go with the indiglo model. What's nice about the fixed bar, is that you can make a strap from 1 inch tie down strap, or 550 cord the watch, and d-ring to the pack.
I do have an A4T Ti Bertucci with a leather strap that has screws to attach as well as a nylon strap, 24mm wide so not very usable on other watches. It has a swiss movement so the alignment issue is not there but it's not cheap. What lead me there is an A3P which has all the issues you mention. Great watches though.
I’ve had a Bertucci for a couple of years as my daily watch. I highly recommend them. I work in boilers and this watch is tough and accurate, comfortable to wear. Perfect tool watch.
@2:12 Well, the man who discovered the element named it "Aluminum" (Who was English btw) and both the UK and US called it that for a while. It was only changed to Aluminium after an anonymous contributor changed the spelling to "Aluminium" in an English literary journal and the spelling just stuck in the UK and most of Europe. Said journal was never published in North America so they never changed the official spelling. So I personally believe the original name it was MEANT to have is correct. Which is Aluminum.
@@narabdela How so? There are many sources that say sir Humphry Davy originally called it "Alumium" and switched it to "Aluminum" shortly afterwards. Then settled on Aluminium after seeing the suggested spelling in an English literary journal and agreeing with it. It was called "Aluminum" in England for around 5 years up until then.
I've owned an A2-T and currently use an A2-T Super Classic (lithium battery and sapphire crystal) and I got them for way below what they're retailing there in the UK. US$120 for the A2-T (in 2019) and US$156 for the upgraded one (2022)--solid timepieces at the price I got them but I wouldn't pay higher than that.
My original A-2S is from 2013 and has had zero problems except a battery change x 2 or 3x. Have put it thru hell. At least twice. Its the one piece body that is my favorite feature. I'd bend pins in a heartbeat. Dad always said that I'd break an anvil.
I bought and sold one. It is not a bad watch when you consider the price, but it just felt too cheap... In my opinion it is a good option if you need a real beater or for a teen's first watch. Much like a Timex it will come down to the right price, as Ben points out.
Why do I constantly seeing whole screen complete being blurred for a few seconds on your older videos? I wonder why did you do that, and why nobody is talking about that like I'm the only one noticed, strange🤔
i just picked up the Bertucci DX3 glow watch and i cant fault it, very strong luminosity with the hands, less so with the case but it looks rather neat, a very striking looking watch and its looks like it can handle some knocks. As long as the lugs dont snap everything should be good
They used to sell automatic watches also. If they went solar you would never need another field watch again. I like 'no day and date' military style so Bertucci has some options. I love the fixed (machined) spring bars. That Timex solar looks great but is not available. The S1 field watch (36mm case) is not available. So besides price due to inflation I think availability is the biggest problem. Both for Bertucci and Timex. At least in Europe.
I have had 2 Bertucci watches, and love(d) them--but sadly BOTH lost their second hands, one after 8 years and one after just over 2. I am so disappointed. I am trying to fix, but am struggling.
I'm wondering if the price hikes have something to do with recent plunge of the pound against the American dollar. (Bertucci, is an American company.) I've two Bertucci watches, the Ti A-2T (mine's rated for 100M though) and the Ti A-3T Vintage (which appears discontinued). Both are about 8 years old and are stlil going strong with the usual scars of daily use and abuse. Have to note that Bertucci's integrated lugs were a big selling point for me as I've suffered from too many spring bar failures over the years. Wow, just checked, the A-2T is now over twice what I paid at Amazon. One observation: I find I change batteries more often than the 2 - 3 years period prescribed at Bertucci's site but have no problem with the screw down case backs.
I've been checking Bertucci for a while they seem a good everyday watch, as for the fixed lugs, two piece clip lug attachment straps are available, if anyone has used this type of strap how successful was it?
These are some of the neatest watches you shown in quite a while. They are a bit expensive. If I wanted a high-quality field watch it an excellent price I would definitely consider an islander instead.
Wow, those prices really jumped. Some of these are getting into Marathon territory now. I love their look but when you have brands like CWC and Marathon around the same price point I just don't think they match the quality or brand heritage IMO.
For about the price of one of these at the moment, I'd recommend the Citizen BM8180 and AT0200. They're great little watches, and Eco-drive beats a basic Miyota any day of the week (not that the Miyotas are bad for what they are).
At least in the US, the steel models from Bertucci are significantly more expensive than Weekenders. Most Weekenders cost less than Bertucci's resin models. Having owned a bunch of each though, Bertucci makes the better watch. BTW, Bettucci does offer some models with sapphire but I'd like to see more. Also, they've released solar models in the year since this review posted.
2:50 Uh, the only one you can repair the finish on yourself is the high-polish one. Just buff it with a wheel or rub it with an appropriate cloth. The others would be nearly impossible to touch up.
Picked up an A-4T at my local thrift store for 45$… been on the fence getting a Hamilton or Citizen so this is my very first field watch. Had buyers remorse but it’s gone now.
Hi wilovpolo, that video is coming soon, our Spanish channel manager accidentally uploaded the wrong title and thumbnail for a different video - should be up next though!
the price is just silly they are no way worth these recent prices when I can get a Lorus and timex a lot cheaper great review shame the brand seems to have jumped on the everythings going up so let's raise the price in no way are they premium

April 2024. I purchased the DX3 model. I had wanted to get into solar watches, but the minimum bump up in price was $100 which pays for many battery changes. It was a pleasant surprise to learn that this watch had an estimated 4 years (not the usual two year estimate) of battery life.
The Nato strap that it comes with is really high quality but very thick. I just use a normal NATO and it feels better.
Thank you so much for checking out the A-2T. It's my next watch and I needed the opinion of an expert like yourself. 👍
Phillipo Scametti 😂 That was a coffee keyboard moment! Great content as always Ben 👏
Had an A-2S for a few years, great watch but rough between the lugs, as you mentioned. Also, the prices have always been steeper here in the UK; Blighty tax...
Definitely a does what it says on the tin watch! Few drawbacks but overall if you can pick them up at the right price, an ideal every day
Had my eye on these for years but the lugs always put me off.
Ben , any chance to see an Casio rag&bone ?
2:12 If I remember correctly it’s actually “Al-oo-min-um,” the reason behind this was a typo in a newspaper when it was first discovered, which typed it as “Aluminium”.
I own a Bertucci A 2T bought 3 years ago - it was hard to ship one to France then. Tremendous watch, all what you need for any activity. I wear it more than any other of my watches, even the Baltic Aquascaphe.
Hi there, just a quick question, is the case back impossible to take off if a battery change was required? Much appreciated
Was thinking of buying one , but concerned about the case back.
Had my eye on one.. but was not sure. Didn't know much about them. Thx for the review.
I hope the titanium one has a good battery! Titanium can be hard to machine smooth threads, so they should have used steel for the case back
Honestly I like betucci a lot but they are specialised in field watches which I'm not huge on.
@sanimohammed81 how do I contact you?
Really enjoying your content mate! Could you review an Edma Epique?
Nice video, thanks for that! I´m into field and military-style watches. My handicap is my 21.5 inch wrist - and there are a lot of nice 36 to 38mm watches outside... So I was pleased to see you refering to the bigger versions of Bertucci. But then I looked at the Bertucci A-5S in 45mm --- for 439 Euro!!!!!!!!!! Which drugs are served there ❓❓❓ Thanks, Ben, looking forward to your next video 👍
21.5 inches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wtf?
@@narabdela LOL my thoughts exactly. He probably means 21.5 cm, which is about 8 inches.
@@damyr You got it. My fault.
I just got A-1s on Amazon for $45. Love the case width. No brainer. Planning on edw for work.
Thanks Ben
Hey, can you please share the amazon link? To me, it's showing $100.
Try going on their website for closeout, b stock and refurb watches. I picked up one mentioned in the video for well under $100 Canadian.
That's a good deal for sure - it's pretty pricey getting them here in the UK
I do have an A4T Ti Bertucci with a leather strap that has screws to attach as well as a nylon strap, 24mm wide so not very usable on other watches. It has a swiss movement so the alignment issue is not there but it's not cheap. What lead me there is an A3P which has all the issues you mention. Great watches though.
I’ve had a Bertucci for a couple of years as my daily watch. I highly recommend them. I work in boilers and this watch is tough and accurate, comfortable to wear. Perfect tool watch.
Have you considered the GWS G10 line? They're based in UK, and I suspect that Traser take care of their manufacturing.
I should add that I've got mine around 2017-18 and it's definitely a keeper.
As always, good very informative and helpful video. Thanks Ben. 👍👍👍
Well done on this review. I’ve been considering trying bertucci for quite a while.
I bought mine in 2019… I found the high polish titanium at half price… it looks amazing … I just replaced the battery myself… I love this watch!!
Ben do a video on affordable tank watch and this casio mtp b205m
Thanks for the hard work for us
I have an A2T that has done many hours in the surf and had a hard life on land over about 3 years. I like it.
Ugh, been trying to the Timex expedition north solar but the model I want just sold out!
Another problem: only a few mechanical models offered, all of which are over priced, with closed case backs. But cool looking watches.
Hi Ben, I'd like to know what your thoughts are, about San Martin SN031-G, a San Martin homage of WW2 era watches.
Watchmakers tip; plastic bag, one of the ticc ones, between the case and the tool to keep from scratching if you slip.
Urban myth.
@@dacasman So, if the proper English version is "Aluminium", then "Aluminum" can't be right. Case closed.
It's : Alooomineeee-um !
God save the King!
I see you also use Keepa
A man of culture I see
I love my A2T. It's one of my favorite weekend watches. Lightweight & tough.
Hi Ben. What do you think of the Boderry Voyager? It looks very similar to this one, with titanium casing and sapphire crystal for $129 Canadian.
My original A-2S is from 2013 and has had zero problems except a battery change x 2 or 3x.
Have put it thru hell. At least twice.
Its the one piece body that is my favorite feature. I'd bend pins in a heartbeat. Dad always said that I'd break an anvil.
Bertucci watched go for more than 30 dollars. They usually start at around 70 - 75
Finally!!! I have been waiting for your Bertucci review. Thanks
As long as the lugs dont snap everything should be good
I opted for an Alba AQPJ402 off eBay for £90odd. Titanium & a great beater watch 👍
you should try the boderry voyager it's great now with a nh35 seiko movement
I brought one of these 8 years or so ago. Very basic but never broke and looks new still
Ben, how the hell did you know I wanted a Bertucci? Thanks for this video!
Me, too. After 8 yrs , as well
Use a jeweler...took him 7 minutes and he didn't charge me. Small towns still rule the USA.
I want a 36 mm field watch that is not as thick any suggestions? I want Simple with a white face and no date
Where can I find one of your Spaghetti Scametti watches?
Wow, those prices really jumped. Some of these are getting into Marathon territory now. I love their look but when you have brands like CWC and Marathon around the same price point I just don't think they match the quality or brand heritage IMO.
Nice video Ben 😃
Mineral is tougher than Sapphire in knocks and is more suitable for field watches in my opinion
For about the price of one of these at the moment, I'd recommend the Citizen BM8180 and AT0200. They're great little watches, and Eco-drive beats a basic Miyota any day of the week (not that the Miyotas are bad for what they are).
I have 2 bertucci's and they are both super durable and accurate. They are off by about 7 seconds per month.
I already contacted you
Look at Boderry watches I brought one recently for £75 titanium automatic movement sapphire crystal
Good quality strap good loom .
I think I have seen the Spanish version of this video but I can't find it do you have the link?
Hi wilovpolo, that video is coming soon, our Spanish channel manager accidentally uploaded the wrong title and thumbnail for a different video - should be up next though!
how do i get to see the price history?
the price is just silly they are no way worth these recent prices when I can get a Lorus and timex a lot cheaper great review shame the brand seems to have jumped on the everythings going up so let's raise the price in no way are they premium
Can you review the Boderry Voyager with NH35 which seems to be a better alternative to this.
The only thing that's preventing me from getting one of these are the fixed bars. No reason why Bertucci does not make a spring bar version.
Had it repaired and it still keeps stopping or not keeping time!
