Just add 1 teaspoon baking powder and 1 teaspoon of salt for every cup of all purpose flour if you haven't got any self rising... Make sure to whisk your dry ingredients!
Love this video. No interacting with crew members, no stories about...... whatever. Straight cooking. 5 minutes. Your a Super Star in the kitchen. Thank you
If you only try ONE bread recipe, try this one. It's wonderful! I expect Sam and Max will not read this but IF they do, we found a trick that takes this bread completely over the top. The finished crust is hard while the inside is perfect bread. We store our bread in zip-top bags. The next day, the moisture from the insides had softened the crust perfectly. I went to heaven with a slice of beer bread and dark cherry jam. THANK YOU, SAM!
Some friends of mine did this almost as an afterthought while we were having a canning day recently. I haven't been much of a cook but i'm starting to learn. And this is a super easy recipe. They buttered and flour'd the pan and did the same 3 cups self-rising flour, the sugar was 1/4 cup which i'm assuming is about like 3 spoons, and one room temperature lite beer, so it didn't affect flavor. Then they added shredded cheddar and bits of jalapeno in theirs.
I just basically binge watched your entire channel. I fuck with the realness. I hate them perfect cooking shows. You show yourself dropping stuff and you aren’t afraid of profanity. I’m definitely a fan now 🙏🏾
This is one of the recipes where the reaction of the guy making the video is actually justified. This recipe is too damn simple to be this tasty. Make this stuff, people. It's phenomenal.
I made this and it was lovely. In the UK our beer comes in 440ml cans and this mix took 330ml so I drank the rest. I've made 23 loaves today... Cheers 🍻
Wow! Thanks so much Steve, I found that milk had soured, no time to get more, remembered watching this. All I had was a Bud light, it turned out amazing! Everyone loved it and thought I’d gone to way more trouble. Can’t believe how easy and can’t wait to try Guinness. Would be great with Guinness beef stew.
This is scientific though lol. The reason you put the sugar in is so the yeast in the beer can convert that into CO2 to make the bread rise. The alcohol actually evaporates too (not all of it even normal bread has some alcohol)
Sam, I must say “chapeau” to you 👏👏👏Your beer bread has been a huge success during this quarantine not only at home, but also in my friends’ and relatives’ homes: from Patagonia to Miami! Thank YOU! ❤️❤️❤️
I made a couple loaves of this lovely beer bread for Halloween ... one batch had a bit of green food coloring and orange in the other ... also, two different kinds of beer. I enjoyed the bread while dispensing treats and I can tell you that my attitude regarding Halloween has measurably improved.
I've tried self-rising flour and it NEVER rises. I now use regular flour and one tsp baking powder, 1/3 cup sugar, 16 oz beer. 12 oz beer is too dry. 16 oz is just right. I make at least two loaves a week.
Thank you so much. I watched two videos before this where other people were doing the whole agonizing proofing business. I’m like dude: if I wanted to do that I’d watch a video about any other kind of bread. The beauty of beer bread- no waiting, no kneading. Thank you for this video
I like Budweiser dough. It's what I had to use at my Crossroads Pizza. It gave the pizza an old-fashioned flavor. My uncle makes regular yeast Style homemade bread I want to see if he'll make one with less yeast and a little bit of Budweiser. To give it a little bit more of a beer flavor dough. One of my favorite parts of the holidays is he gives everybody a loaf of bread as a present. Since it's every holiday can never get burnout on it. it's always really good as Country Crock butter bread.
I couldn't remember the measurements, so thanks for sharing. A lady friend of mine taught me this a few years back when we were making white bean chili. It is so perfect for that!! This is so simple and easy, and warm and crusty!! Totally delicious :) Thank you, thank you, thank you!! P.S. I had the beer!! LOL And, to be honest, I really do NOT like beer, but this bread is amazing, so to all those who don't care for beer, do not worry about it!!
I know this is an old one... but I just found it and I'm making it now. Its in the oven! I used Yuengling Lager instead of Guinness. Lets see how it turns out.
Just did the beer bread. Had it on the side with your bacon and pea alfredo recipe. So easy ,and my guests were well impressed. Thanks for making me a hero for a night
I think a teaspoon of salt gives more flavor and a little bit of butter in the dough gives it a biscuit quality. It is amazing that something so simple can be so good. Beer is basically liquid bread anyway and no beer works better than stout.
Add a teaspoon (or however much you like) of Italian seasoning and smells and tastes like bread they bring out before you order your meal. I'm going to try and modify for banana bread. Will post if it works.
Dude, ha ha haha. That injured leg you're nursing back to health, in that cast. When you dropped that pan on the floor, it all clicked! I laughed so good! Entertaining!! Way ta stay clear of that falling pan, need that one good leg to compensate for the one in the cast. The bread looks awesome!
The magic of beer bread is that it can be made quick and simple. No kneading, no proofing. Just self rising flour and beer and a couple of other things. Then you have this incredible choice of which beer to use which really makes a difference in the color and taste. There are artisan beer bread recipes on youtube but artisan and beer bread is an oxymoron.
"Make this, please. Please. I implore you." Well, ok, I did. Thank you for enlightening me! I made this bread this morning, but I used a Honey Wheat beer. It looked just like the example in the video... I had it for breakfast. Holy F**k indeed, Sam. So. Freaking. Good. And lunch? More. :D I gotta try it with the Guiness next time... Thanks again!
For the people that don't have self-rising flower in their unconvienient store, it's very simple to make it on your own. Google self rising flower. it's just a mixture of flower, bakingpowder and salt.
Oh snap, I've been making this for years. Goes great with chili. I learned to make that from my ex. She was a baker. I'm not, but anyone can make beer bread. Spread it out good. Beer bread is really heavy. It doesn't like to cook all the way through. Takes a couple times to get it down.
Great idea. It really does work well. We use Greek Yogurt with the self-rising flour and it makes really fine pizza dough. This would likely do the same.
Who LOVES STALE BREAD? If you cut your Slices from the CENTER OF THE LOAF they will store together keeping the moisture in Much Better than Cutting off an end which is never as close in shape to the previous Slice. The Middle will give you the Choice of which end to cut from to more closely match the other half of the Loaf.
thanks Sam! btw, what is the size of the loaf pan that you used? going to make this but I need to buy a loaf pan from amazon first. thank you and stay safe.
how do you do this if I don't have 'self rising flour'? I'm trying right now with some yeast. Trying to cook beer bread. going to try this, and wing what I don't know. wish me luck. cook bake cook :)
Just add 1 teaspoon baking powder and 1 teaspoon of salt for every cup of all purpose flour if you haven't got any self rising... Make sure to whisk your dry ingredients!
Thank you!
Rats I just added baking powder. Oh well
That is waaaaaaay too much salt. Cut that down to 1 tsp for the entire recipe.
Lara Hickerson day just saw this
I was just wondering too!

Wait, you didn't want the beer to affect the flavor? I don't even know what to say. That's the beauty of using beer. As long as it floats your goat.

Making this right now in the oven. The smells are amazing right now. I'm adding this to my dad resume. Together with my dad bod. Good stuff.
👊🏻
The dad bod is necessary for enhanced flavor
This is great,I make it all the time. Only dif is I use maple syrup instead of sugar. It works great using pumpkin ale!
How much maple syrup do you use?
@@halechristel01 Same volume as would normally use sugar.
I made this and it was lovely. In the UK our beer comes in 440ml cans and this mix took 330ml so I drank the rest. I've made 23 loaves today... Cheers 🍻

Thanks Sam, made this a few times camping in the webber baby Q with a summer ale. Goes down a treat with jam and cream, the kids love it!
Looks so easy! I’m going to try this, thanks for posting.
I have made this several times and it has been delicious every time. Thank you Sam!
Will definitely try it asap. Laughed at the way you handled your mistakes. Thanks
You're a real comedian in the kitchen Sam. I enjoyed your video! lol

THIS...is what I was looking for. Simple. To the point. Perfect.
Quick simple and looks delious so I am going to try this now so I can taste it.
It’s in the oven now! Great video! Thanks, Sam!
Hi Sam, I have watched so many cooking channels on you tube. You are by far my favorite!!
How can you not smile watching this.
I made this today and love it! Thank you💕

2:35 - I love the knife flick when cutting stuff.
I have made the beer version many times, we all love it! But tonight, I used a bottle of Cider and its even better than beer!!
Bread at it’s best! Adorable video.
Thank You for this wonderful but short and to the point video.... This is the only way I'd hava beer especially a dark one lol.....
Thanks a lot, I will try this tomorrow.
Excited, I’m going to try!
you had me at "butter knife from Finland" hahahahahahaha
Suomi mainittu! 🇫🇮
Great video dude......this beer bread rocks ‼️
I completely agree on the dark biers. I prefer stouts but I used a dunkle recently and it was amazing.
About to try this now with some Miller High Life. But I can tell you already, next time I'm gonna try it with Flyway Bluewing. I bet it'll be amazing.
Who thinks of these recipes? You are insanely talented and creative. I want to try this bread with some dried cranberries in it❤️
Love this recipe, so simple yet savory. From México, thanks so much!
You have the most beautiful kitchen I have ever seen! It's a total dream kitchen!
Made this and it is easy like he says. And a great taste too. Thanks Mr. Sam.
I know this is an old one... but I just found it and I'm making it now. Its in the oven! I used Yuengling Lager instead of Guinness. Lets see how it turns out.
I'm definately not dense😉🤣😂 but love a dense bread😃....can't wait to try this!!
Looks good and way too easy. Thanks Sam
This was outstanding. I added some Parmesan cheese to it. So easy. Surprised at how soft it got the next day.
Just did the beer bread. Had it on the side with your bacon and pea alfredo recipe. So easy ,and my guests were well impressed. Thanks for making me a hero for a night
Use two cups pancake mix, two table spoons of sugar and beer. If you want, add some rosemary. Wow!
I think a teaspoon of salt gives more flavor and a little bit of butter in the dough gives it a biscuit quality. It is amazing that something so simple can be so good. Beer is basically liquid bread anyway and no beer works better than stout.
Made beer bread many times. I tried brown sugar and dark beer - even better!
You ditched the crusty edge... that's the best part!!
Best bread I've ever made, ONLY bread I've ever made but DAMN is it delicious and addicting!
Love your kitchen!!
Add a teaspoon (or however much you like) of Italian seasoning and smells and tastes like bread they bring out before you order your meal. I'm going to try and modify for banana bread. Will post if it works.
Can use use honey instead of sugar? Would it be one to one?
Just tried this recipe last night and it was delicious, especially with butter

Love your commentary.
I add garlic, jalapeno's and cheese to this recipe ... totally awesome!!!
I’ve baked it and shared it to beat the Pandemic Blues!😀 Thanks!
Guinness is perfect to make bread, delicious, malty and sweet 👍
LOVE THIS
"Make this, please. Please. I implore you." Well, ok, I did. Thank you for enlightening me! I made this bread this morning, but I used a Honey Wheat beer. I just made this bread and I ate about half the loaf in one go. I'm now a little tipsy
Tipsy? The alcohol is gone after baking it.
Beautiful thks.
For the people that don't have self-rising flower in their unconvienient store, it's very simple to make it on your own. Google self rising flower. it's just a mixture of flower, bakingpowder and salt.
This will go nicely with my Guinness pot roast.
5 minutes sounds easy. I must give it a try. Greetings from St. Croix, Virgin Islands.
Sounds good!!!
Best 5 min recipe.

Does the sugar have any specific purpose besides sweetening the bread? It doesn't feed the yeast, right?
Great idea. It really does work well. We use Greek Yogurt with the self-rising flour and it makes really fine pizza dough. This would likely do the same.
Make rye flour self rising, same ingredients to make regular, and the same other ingredients for an awesome rye loaf
Just made beer bread walla go. I love the stuff.

I imagine non-filtered wheat beer like boulevard would work pretty good
Did you use self rising flour??
I wonder what it would taste like with adding diced Spam ( Or your fav meat), Cheddar & dried Chives to it?
Fantastic!!!!! 💫✨💫✨💫✨
thanks Sam! btw, what is the size of the loaf pan that you used? going to make this but I need to buy a loaf pan from amazon first.
thank you and stay safe.
Thanks bro
Oh Kale Yeah! ;) gotta try this at my sons (plural, yes! I'm gonna make it twice) on my visit to SD TOMORROW!!! Yeah!!!!
Could you use something besides beer like bourbon or whiskey?
how do you do this if I don't have 'self rising flour'? I'm trying right now with some yeast. Trying to cook beer bread. going to try this, and wing what I don't know. wish me luck. cook bake cook :)
Mmmm! I am Soo making this tomorrow!!! Thank you!!!
Would it ok if I bake without sugar but pinch of salt instead ?
I'm a fan of the 5 minute meals.
have just made this bread.... DAMN IT GOLD... Taste so FREAKING gooooddd
This vid is Gold.
Hilarious! Thank you
Sam your the man. Love watching your vids.
What's is ur self rising flour explain please
I had a big handful of sharp cheddar some fresh garlic and fresh parsley
the outtakes, "don't be too anal about it", the leg, dropping the tray, pushing the end piece aside...
Yum! Or I'll make a light lager with cheddar and green onion to go along a bowl of chili in the fall. 👌
I was expecting a beeepp, beeepp, beeepp! When you dropped that hot pan
Just made it. Extraordinary
Learned so much from you! And love your shirt!
