You have SO much potential as a natural lifter. It's not that you have bad genetics, rather you BELIEVE that you have bad genetics. This negative mindset transcends into the physical. You just need to upgrade your mental game, my brother in iron!
AlphaDestiny Alex this is why you by far are my favorite UA-camr you keep stuff real I trust you 100% of the time and I've been with you since January 2015
AlphaDestiny Like I tell my little brother. You don't have shitty genetics; I know because I have the same ones. What you have is a shitty work ethic... which can be corrected.
Eoin Maguire no no trust me , David Laid looks small as fuck in real life , Dylan is average.David is really small, they just know how to take good photos
Okay no excuse time...I was stuck at 205 squat and 275 deadlift for almost 4 years. The reason I would not progress was because I would always strain my lower back when I attempted going heavier. At the time, I was certain that I was not meant to be strong, all the signs were there... But didn't give up, kept going, learned better ways to train, and learned more about my weaknesses in general. Checking in today with 315 bench 455 squat 525 deadlift... Alex is right 100% on this one.
Can you help me, how did you overcome this? I've strained my back 2 times within the last 2 months I think doing deadlifts. I had to stop deadlifting and squatting for now, it's been 2 weeks and my lower back still hurts like a mofo. I've been stuck at a 315lbs deadlift, I'm sure I cant even pull that anymore though. What exercises did you do to get ahead?
Matt Miller i did a lot of things but what really revolutionized my deadlift training was brutal core training. I literally jumped up almost 100 pounds in the deadlift in a matter of a couple months with core training as a part of my routine. Specifically weighted hyperextenstions. Also a good way to think about your training is taking into consideration your individual needs as a lifter. I know my weakness so I train those areas hard with accessories. Hope that helps.
Phone was about to die and I was on the toilet naked then I got a notification from Alpha Destiny so now I'm standing charging my phone and watching this vid naked.
Loved this bro. At the end of the day we are humans and muscles can grow with the right exercises and loading parameters. It really all comes down to trial and error because if you find out what assistance lifts bring up your main lifts along with what lifts you should prioritize along with your ideal bodyweight then you're on the money!
Great video dude! The nocebo effect with genetics is real, and it's out there more than people think. Guys stop trying as soon as they "discover" how genetics play a role in response to a training and nutrition setup. Very easy to blame something you can't control.
AlphaDestiny bro I also wanted to say another DBZ analagy in that goku was a low class sayain with "bad genetics" but he always believed in himself and always pushed himself and far surpassed even Vegeta who was the prince.
Also, the 10x Kaioken is pretty much the Trenbolone of the DB-Universe. Son Gohan even pretty much used GENETIC DOPING to reach his full potential. This entire family of Son Goku's is on the juice and it's time to call them out on it!
You're the real man bro. No bullshit spoken on this video and none of your videos. You are under rated bro, hopefully you go big and viral throughout every social media, that way every single teen little fuck boys know what real bodybuilding is and I really hope you don't turn into the egocentric fitness youtuber that gives bullshit advice, and please stay natural. People are taking advice from the wrong guys, you're the way to go!
One of your best videos yet Alex.. I just want to say thank you for all the advice you've given on your channel.. I'm a novice lifter running your novice program for the last 2 months and have broke through plateaus I previously had on ICF and 5x5 programs. What's been really helpful is your videos and advice on Ab development, I now have a 6 pack for the first time in my life after doing direct heavy ab work like you suggested with vacuums and Valsalva maneouver.. I can now do 30kg weighted planks in your program and my physique is only going to get better, I can see it and feel it. I'll be doing your Naturally Enhanced program soon as I hit your foundation numbers.. much love from Australia and thanks again!
This dude is so knowledgeable, it's all about the mental game, couldn't t agree more. See the way the world is now a days people see something on UA-cam and they get all discouraged and start getting down on themselves, but in the days before social media guys just went in the gym and fuckin killed it! The best best possible thing you could do for yourself is ignore all these clowns on UA-cam that claim to be natty or all these idiots tracking every macro, fuck all that! Just keep your mental game on point and focus on you and your mission to become the best you possible, once you learn to block out all this nonsense going on around you and make it your personal mission to kill it in the gym every single day your there, you will see gains that you didn't think we're possible, I'm living proof, but you can't be lazy, this takes a ton of hard work but it will change your life for sure, don't forget what he said the mental game is the most important part of all of it
Going back looking at Alpha Destiny, this dude is so fucking entertaining and real. Love his content now and this is one if my all time favorite videos he's done
I found your channel today and it's great! 100% agree! I'm setting new and higher goals right now. But honestly i have no "bad genetics" my calves are great and my body is proportionate. Thanks for the motivation man!
true man, I think a lot of people limit themselves! its amazing what you can do with the human body as long as you are head strong and don't set limits
Exactly! I have above average genetics... and I'm also the fittest one amongst all my friends and they always say I have it easy because of my genetics. I call bullshit because to me genetics is similar to being talented at music or whatever, it just means you progress faster than normal... there is no such thing as a talent/genetics that will overcome consistent hard work; the issue with a lot of people is their defeatist mindsets. Hard work & strong mind game > everything else I've learnt so much from your work and I just wanna say keep it up! Not an OG sub but I've been with you since you were sub-10k and I'm so glad someone like you has blown up in UA-cam fitness.
Alex, you inspire me. I really hated my body a few years back, but since i started working out i feel better. I'm following you iniciate program and my man..... i have improved so much! yesterday i did a 120Kg trapbar deadlift and my wheight is 62.2 Kg... my god i felt so powerfull, when i lifted that i felt like i was becoming a super sayajin, i'm proud of myself and only have to thank you for that, i'll continue to search for the very best form of me and i'll show you what i can do.. thank you so much for this types of vídeos, you are awsome! huge thanks form Brazil
TRUTH! Once again Alex, solid video. Love your mentality on training and physique. I've learned so much from your channel. Unconvential training including neck and traps is what's been missing in my training.
True true true... most of us have what we need to get a great physique! There are a few that truly have some challenges but they can design a program to bring out the best. And, yes, some, a very small percentage, have stunning genetics for bodybuilding. For many of us the sport is spiritual and stops being about just the Aesthetics. For me and many of my gym buddies it has become about self-improvement, challenging yourself, and almost meditating during a workout to get the best out of it. It's like, the zone, you know! Thanks for the great videos is always Alex. Proud of you brother.
Excellent advise as always alpha. I have always believed that mentality is really half the battle and I'm glad people are really highlighting this in the strength and fitness community. Keep making subscription gains trap lord
You have always inspired me to get stronger, with your strenght standards. Lots of other youtubers and other fitness people set the strenght standards way too low for naturals. Many people underrate what the human body is capable off in term of strenght. We should never bee satisfied with our strenght and size standards, we shall always push for new goals, because there is always someone out their who are bigger and stronger. Keep up the good work :)
Great video and DBZ comparation. I have switched to conjugate 3 weeks ago and started smashing lifts that I stalled for over a year. Upped my mental game and caloric surplus plus max effort days where I go 100% and don't go home without PR.
I'm running a linear periodization program right now and have upped my Ohp from 155x1 to 175x2. My goal for that is 225lbs. My bench press is at 260x3 reps right now and I originally intended on setting my goal to 315, but I changed my mind after this video. I believe I Can get to 405 now.
I so agree with you! Genetics are so overrated! Killing myself in the gym made me realize my bicep peaks are actually quite pronounced! You are much more impressive than you think! Eat plenty and healthy plus killing it in the gym will unlock the potential! Oh and plenty of water of course
Cheers from france keep the good work on ! Thanks for this video, you are right a lot of natty lifters (me include) need to ugrade the mental, mental is everything
Great video Alex I'm so glad you covered this topic. Some of my personal training books that I've read seem to overemphasize and overstate the fact that one may have average or below average genetics. I've always believed this is a bad idea, because you now have created an excuse to justify one not reaching their goals. I've always felt that did old school bodybuilders know whether or not they had good genetics? Were they standing around wondering "Oh, I don't know if I have good genetics for this?" No. They TRAINED and they obtained very impressive physiques, old time strongmen have accomplished amazing feats. In fact Eugene Sandow who was considered the strongest strongman at the time believed that Arthur Saxon was lying or staging his feats but couldn't disprove his feats either. In a motivational video I once saw this guy said, "If the mind can concieve it the body will achieve it." This is something I believe very strongly in. I also believe we shouldn't be trying to look like X athlete we should be trying to look like a bigger, stronger, faster version of US.
Naturally Enhanced is a revolutionary book. Iam telling you guys its a break through. I just ordered the slingshot to add it to my concurrent training!
I want to thank you for makeing me mentaly much much stronger, yesterday I did legs and cuz im in the gym only for about 6 months and I was scared to squat 225, but yesterday I did 6 sets of 3 reps with 225 and I was so focused and when I moved to traps, rack pulls above the knee 300 lbs for 3 reps... Thank you man, now im pushing myself harder than ever, thank you 😤
Thanks Alex, when I first started going to the gym I wanted to look like all these huge buff dudes. I have now learned to appreciate the slow but progressing physique i'm developing through hard work.
This is the real truth my friend. When you're skinny its impossible to visualize yourself being swole and often we tend to criticize the genetics instead of consistently putting out work in the gym.
Alex, your behind back deadlift videos inspired me to add them into my intensity and volume workouts (structured) to carry over in helping me pull from the floor better with trap bar deadlifts.
Alex, I can appreciate the power of positive thoughts and raising one's expectations of themselves, but I'm pretty sure my herniated disc is what's holding me back, not my mental state. Believe me, I've told myself that it's been two years and won't bother me anymore but that sciatic nerve rears its ugly head after heavy workouts.
Gohan essentially is enhanced, while having elite genetics. He did his first cycle at 5 years old on planet namek when the namekian leader showed him how strong he could become in a very short time. He was natty for many years after that, but then ran another cycle on the supreme Kai's planet to surpass super saiyan 3 goku in a short period, and even rival the clearly not natural majin buu. He no longer shows any signs of drug use, but he likely still has increased nuclei in his cells from past usage, and thus shouldn't be allowed to compete in this years world tournament, even if he passes the drug test.
I used to fall into this. When I was first hitting the gym, I saw immediate growth in pretty much everywhere but my shoulders (delts). I was like "Oh I must have terrible shoulder genetics," and looking back, I was saying this when I was doing 20 lb side laterals and front raises. Am able to OHP 155 for reps now and there is a huge difference now. Hoping to hit 185 by the end of the year.
I get what he's saying here but Greg Nuckols said it best "if you don't believe in terrible genetics, you're just not paying attention". There are people that literally LOSE muscle from lifting weights because they don't have the protein synthesis to compensate. When your genetics are fucking piss poor, of course you're not going to want to continue doing it. You're probably going to go onto something that you're way better at. I'm not trying to discredit anything here or make excuses for anyone, but the data is there. Some people have absolutely pathetic genetics where it's questionable if it's even worth doing. Either way, this is inspiring and I enjoy the channel.
Great video bro please can explain if you can bench press squat and deadlift 3 times a week or like Monday all exercise are 3 sets squat 6-10 reps , rack pull 6-10 reps , bench press 6-10 reps , pull ups 8-12 reps, behind back shoulder press 10-14 reps, seated row 8-12 reps, dips 8-12 reps, straight bar curl,6-10 reps...on Wednesday all 3 sets .leg press 10-14 reps, Deadlift 6-10 reps, dumbbell press 10-14 reps, chin ups 8-12 reps, shoulder press 6-10 reps, Face pulls 10-14 reps, rope tricep pull downs 10-14 reps, rope biceps 10-14 reps,....Friday all sets 3...Squats 6-10 reps, bent over row 8-12 reps, bench press 6-10 reps, side lateral raises 10-14 reps, shrugs 10-14 reps, tricep extension 10-14 reps and hammer curl 8-12 reps...abs and cavs on Monday and Friday at the end also 3 sets ...punching bag and walk up hill/ run 10 mins max ...tell me what you think
I did some cheat rows in the gym last time and everybody was watching me. But i don't care anymore about that, i experienced awesome stretches immediately in my upper back and it's hard for me to believe that cheat rows won't work.
There are loads of people on UA-cam claiming bad genetics and you can see they aren't training hard. I will admit I'm not busting my ass every workout but I do enough to get better at whatever I'm doing and keep hitting personal bests after 24 years which is enough for me. Then again I'm never complaining about my lack of gains except on legs which I do go max out on every workout now and they are getting stronger so should be how I want them by the end of 2018. The increased leg strength has definately made me faster on my mountain bike (cycling is my favourite hobby) so I have more motivation to improve them as it translates into gains in other areas. I read a few science papers here and there, as you get older your lifestyle actually changes your DNA. It's been almost fact since the late 90's that well trained healthy people will have children that have a genetic advantage from birth. If they mistreat themselves then the advantage would be lost to the next generation but if they developed it their offspring could be even more gifted. That's how they breed race horses.
"It's not your genetics that are below average, it's your mentality that's below average." I love that.
You have SO much potential as a natural lifter. It's not that you have bad genetics, rather you BELIEVE that you have bad genetics. This negative mindset transcends into the physical. You just need to upgrade your mental game, my brother in iron!

That's true, Vegeta is the fucking best! Loved his character in Z.
The truth is that I REALLY want to see him surpass Goku in Super
He won't though. Why? muh BAD GENETICS!
Also, the 10x Kaioken is pretty much the Trenbolone of the DB-Universe. Son Gohan even pretty much used GENETIC DOPING to reach his full potential.
This entire family of Son Goku's is on the juice and it's time to call them out on it!
I laughed way too hard.
Social Sociopath dude, that was really funny
You're the real man bro. No bullshit spoken on this video and none of your videos. Much love brother, I'm happy for your success!
The Saiyan saga reference to not being at your best/breakthrough yet = perfect analogy.
I really like this real talking guy he is the most real and nicest guy and full of confidence and help others, he is sick and what a general !!!
This dude is so knowledgeable, it's all about the mental game, couldn't t agree more. Excellent advise as always alpha. I have always believed that mentality is really half the battle and I'm glad people are really highlighting this in the strength and fitness community. Keep making subscription gains trap lord
you look more and more shredded on each vid bro.
keep up the good work

This channel is one of the best fitness channels on UA-cam

real shit, best pre-workout watch some clips of dbz, i like gohan vs cell, get motivated, then break some PRs
I really like and agree with the message you kinda lost me at the DBZ references but still a great fucking point
Just woke up from a nightmare glad you uploaded :D
U inspired me to add arms to my wendler program... i even bought fat gripz to accelerate forearm growth, I'm torso dominant.
I so agree with you! Genetics are so overrated! Killing myself in the gym made me realize my bicep peaks are actually quite pronounced! You are much more impressive than you think! Eat plenty and healthy plus killing it in the gym will unlock the potential! Oh and plenty of water of course
Just start to watch any of your videos and immediately experience strong desire to go to gym
Happy to hear that brother
This is a very important message ... thank you
Cheers from france keep the good work on ! Thanks for this video, you are right a lot of natty lifters (me include) need to ugrade the mental, mental is everything

Excellent commentary Samuel
Thanks Alex!
Great message alpha!
very good video sir, I'm digging the message behind it
thx for the motivation brah
Alex, I'm pretty sure you were quoting that Quebec movie "Les Boys" lol "C'est dans le mental"
Naturally Enhanced is a revolutionary book. Iam telling you guys its a break through. I just ordered the slingshot to add it to my concurrent training!

AlphaDestiny Thank you man 🙌
i rarely comment, but this was very important advise! good video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks Alex, when I first started going to the gym I wanted to look like all these huge buff dudes. I have now learned to appreciate the slow but progressing physique i'm developing through hard work.
I actually do have shit chest genetics(gap between pecs) but I still work with it as much as possible
legend! you just got a new suscriber
This is the real truth my friend. When you're skinny its impossible to visualize yourself being swole and often we tend to criticize the genetics instead of consistently putting out work in the gym.

you're a prophet Alex. I appreciate you and everything you're doing no homo

Amazing video dude, good job
Alex, I can appreciate the power of positive thoughts and raising one's expectations of themselves, but I'm pretty sure my herniated disc is what's holding me back, not my mental state. Believe me, I've told myself that it's been two years and won't bother me anymore but that sciatic nerve rears its ugly head after heavy workouts.
Good fucking shit Alex you're doing amazing
Gohan essentially is enhanced, while having elite genetics. He did his first cycle at 5 years old on planet namek when the namekian leader showed him how strong he could become in a very short time. He was natty for many years after that, but then ran another cycle on the supreme Kai's planet to surpass super saiyan 3 goku in a short period, and even rival the clearly not natural majin buu. He no longer shows any signs of drug use, but he likely still has increased nuclei in his cells from past usage, and thus shouldn't be allowed to compete in this years world tournament, even if he passes the drug test.
Jim Walker FAKE NATTY EXPOSED!
Lmfao, plus the senzu beans aid in recovery. He cashed in the natty card a long time ago.
so did you loser
thank man. truth here bru
great points in this video my man.
Good stuff Austin
Sick video Alex
Great video. Would like to see more of you discussing the metal apsects of the iron game.
2:32 a.m bro, sleep = gainz
Thanks for the motivation my dude
another quality video

Informative, inspirational. Great content, Alpha! Keep it up!!
A lot of this stuff seems like it should come naturally to our minds. hitting a 405 lb bench press has never seemed too crazy to me. At 385 currently.
Real talk here.
thanks for the motivation bro......great
