UPDATE: Due to the popularity of this video I am now working on a second video that will include the entire story from "The Forest" and will also address some additional ideas/theories for "Sons Of The Forest" THE NEW VIDEO IS OUT, WATCH IT INSTEAD OF THIS ONE: ua-cam.com/video/m3ugIgRJMsE/v-deo.html
Well done ! I think i'm gonna make my own video ( i'm a french UA-camr ) and talk about your interpretation with the reserch you've made ! This is also a realy great story telling ! Thank you for that ! I'm gonna put a link to your chanel in description and credit you of course !
im confused who builded bunkers under site 2 and how didnt workers turn in mutants while creating it and why would people stay if they saw builders building place like night clubs pools rooms for rich people
In one of the first caves (I believe it's the one where we find the ropegun) we see what looks to be a caveman painting of the cube, with a golden person in it, and surrounding people outside of the cube. I believe this is an indication and supportive of the fact that the armor wasn't forged recently, but rather is an artifact found.
It's possible the Cannibals painted it, so it's currency is still in debate. But I do agree most likely it is an artifact, the rib-like area on the armor shares a resemblance to the golden doors in my opinion
“Silver jacket” has their name and info displayed on the computer in the 3d printer cave closest to the pistol location. Jianyu something. And then further in that same cave in the night club area there’s an email about how the sender believes Jianyu may be working for Sahara and to be careful. There’s an awful lot of dead non-mutated bodies in that location laying around, I believe Sahara and Puffcorp both had a spy working for the opposing side, and Jianyu killed a lot of puffcorp personnel. I just don’t understand why they seemingly spare you twice. Both at the start of the game they don’t kill you and they don’t kill you or Timmy seemingly when you’re knocked out by the big baby making mutant.
you are forgetting that your companions also have endings, for example if you have Virginia with you she will leave the island with you and use you as a head rest.
@@ernestogastelum9123 eh tbh I've seen a few people use the "proof or it didn't happen" technique and it's usually just a tactic weirdoes use to get in contact with random "potential" victims
Wouldnt he technically die in the cube then? Since he died in this dimension then once all the other versions leave he should die then. Thats my take tho.
That doesn't make that much sense imo. Wouldn't timmy be a different personality maybe or something like that if the alternate version one was put into his body? And if all of timmys alternate versions were put into one body in site 1, then taken out by the cube in site 2, then how is timmy still moving about?
Just an idea to add to that is that the radius of whatever mutates the people, is only found in the caves or somehwere very close to the cube. Since the silver jacket lady turns into almost a “super mutant”and as both the Skeletons that have been found near cave entrances and the Cannibals that live on surface are Uneffected compared to the hundreds of mutants that are underground in the caves.
You can get another ending if you have Virginia as an companion with a gps marker! She basically becomes what appears to be a “lover” or something close of sorts as she lays her head on your shoulders and also passes out in the cube but shows up awake later at the helicopter.
@@spacequack5470 it’s a video game bruh and you spend however long surviving along side her. Plus I have a girlfriend and she’d definitely take us surviving together as a show of kinship in her own little fashion 😂
@@Aidan977 its a gameplay-focused title, story-wise as a form of direction for players to digest and invest since the openworld aspect rewards player's exploration w/ environmental storytelling (recent was Hogwarts Legacy w/ the help of environmental interaction such as utility and essential spells). worth mentioning ER is a Japanese soulslike openworld arpg title that has *dynamic writing.*
@@Aidan977 yea, "hopefully" in this early access state, in contrast to its predecessor that priorities gameplay and sandbox mechanics, then fully initializing the main story, while SOTF is missing a lot of mechanics from the previous.
Haven't gotten to play the game yet, but based on your video I have a theory about that golden cube. Perhaps the cube has nothing to do with what happens outside of it when everyone is mutated. It appears to me that both the golden armor and the cube itself are made of that metal found on the island. It may be possible that there's a phenomenon on the island itself, and the metal is either a product of the phenomenon, reacts to it, or both. It would make sense then that the cube's construction was such that it was meant as a shield from whatever strikes the island every 8 lunar cycles. It does shield those inside it and seems to counteract effects from other artifacts as you mentioned. It may have a stabilizing property on the phenomenon, however brief that may be, and as a result you get a temporary window to another dimension while you're inside it. If I'm right, then perhaps the island is a location where the boundaries between dimensions aren't quite right. Perhaps there's some sort of borderline unfathomable movements of dimensions around or through one another and every 8 lunar cycles there's some kind of collision between 2 or more dimensions around that island. And if you get caught up in that, you have a bad time. But if you're in the cube, you're shielded from the collision and also gain a momentary doorway to whichever dimension is colliding around you. That said, I'm not sure you could ever go through that door and survive since you'd immediately be subjected to the horrific effects that everyone else outside was experiencing. Maybe the purpose of the armor then is to act like a dimensional hazmat suit, allowing you to cross over without being....mangled..
Definitely think you're onto something. Would explain why there are Demons down there as well as they don't seem to have an origin or fit in the story. Perhaps they crossed over from a Hell dimension. Feels very Doom-Hellraiser-Event Horizony. Couple with the crazy futuristic City, your also theory sounds a lot like Thor: The Dark World, where the Nine Realms come together during the Convergance. I wonder if these games Lore are playing off of Sci-Fi Magic like Thor through Nordic Lore, but the Crosses imply Christian Theology. Also, one of those Demons (not a Mutant) is encountered in the Medical/Morgue bunker area. I think that's the only one encountered outside of tge "Hell" Cave. I wonder why it's there.
Damn my guy You either studied very complicated scientific subjects Or you have a ton of powerful brain cells in that head of yours My two brain cells barely managed to understand all that you put together in easy to understand language
I think Barbara was at the banquet. I fought two bosses there and it looked like Barbara and Edward Puffton Edit: I think she was added on the recent patch
Don't forget there are loads of updates coming and this is just early release, which means more story and even more ending might be be forthcoming! Great video
One thing worth noting that you missed out - in the dining hall, right as you enter, you can see the person in silver jacket, accompanied by 4 other people. They're all standing at the broken window of the dining room, diving as soon as you get relatively close. It's an event that's easy to miss, but it implies one thing - they were there for a reason. And they likely took something from there. Kind of reminds me how you could spot Matther Cross at various places in the first game. Other than that, I still find it strange how, despite "the elite" clearly getting mutated and deformed into various mutants, most of the workers and armed personel remained the same, and Virginia became partially mutated. I've seen theories that the distance from the cube is responsible, and dining hall might've been close enough to it that it caused severe mutations, but something doesn't sit right. For starters, there's a number of unmutated workers that have been killed in close proximity to the dining hall. Plus, there's a really weird disparity - some bodies we find are skeletal (some are wearing tactical helmets, indicating armed forces), which you'd believe have decayed over course of 31 weeks. But vast majority of the bodies we find are almost intact, having died rather recently. Though it could be... That those workers arrived there later on, trying to find out what happened in the dining room, or even seeking shelter, and were subsequently killed by mutants, or even rival forces (as they've been there). Chances are that not all the dead bodies we find are result of the tribals or mutants. Speaking of tribals... I find it odd that Puffton could get any work done at the island, given nearly excessive presence of the natives. The underground bunker is tremendous work to get done, he'd have to account for having to do digging work to get enough space for it. Now, the caves that have the entire bunker compound have seemingly quite alot of space, but even then, I find it hard to believe that he'd luckily stumble upon something like this by accident. But even if we give it the benefit of Pufton being lucky and finding it, he'd still need to lay down the foundations, do digging in other places, and much more. Something that would take quite possibly years to make, even with ridiculous sum of money and personnel that Puffton was able to amass. The time that'd take would likely result in more than 8 cycles to get to the point where it was. Then, there are also mining activities, as Puffton was also extracting gold-like material from the island (though that can be easily attributed to another team, dispatched specifically for that). And all that is without murderous cannibals and mutants attempting to murder you on every step of the way. Puffton, with his limitless resources would've likely disposed of them in timely manner, as they'd be more than intrusive. Unless... Unless it isn't really the "natives". As evidenced by Virginia, the artifact also messes with your brain, seeing as she's acting strangely, seemingly unable to recognise clearly sentient being at first, as well as unable of speaking. Could be that plenty of cannibals were previously Puffton workers, but they devolved due to artifact resonance. Though then, we'd still need to account for how quite a lot remained seemingly sound of mind... Feels like there are varying factors into what results in different types of mutations/mental changes. Also, Virginia herself... I find it strange how she managed to survive for this long. She's been missing for at least 31 weeks. That's 217 days. She's been living there, seemingly by herself, all alone, and amongs some of the deadliest creatures in that world... She's unarmed, and yet, she's relatively fine. No visible injuries, she walks, even sprints, she's not malnourished or dehydrated. Could be that she picked a good spot to hide that had plenty of food, like one of the bunkers, and she ran out of those just in time for us to arrive, or maybe her mother kept her secure, but she passed away, however, given that there's little to no evidence for those two, I'm hesitant to apply them. Maybe I'm imagining things, but... Feels to me like there's more to her than meets the eye. And then, cometh the golden armour. As evidenced by e-mails and paintings, Puffton was interested in whatever the cube did. We can easily assume that he was even aware that he needed to stay inside it in order to be safe, as there's an e-mail that diretly related to the cubes dangerous properties (meaning that Puffton could also be aware of mutations). And yet, despite all that, he seems to have failed - he stayed at the Gala, which likely resulted in his mutation (come to think of it... Isn't it strange that mutants were sitting on their places? On the security footage tape, we see clearly that they mutated and multiplied instantly. They wouldn't really be capable of sitting on a chair, would they? Almost as if they died instantenously as well right after transforming. Weird). He seemed to be prepared for the inevitability, had the armour made for him, and didn't went down to the depths when time came to get to the cube? Seems unlikely. And also, if he was aware of the dangers... Why would he risk both his daughter and his wife being dead, or worse yet, turning into utter monstrocities? He'd have both of them stay someplace safe, while he himself ventured to the island if he was that willing to risk his own life and safety. Plus also, he clearly endangered other visitors, be it his own workforce, or elite guests. Even if we assume he was twisted to make them into guinea pigs (which there's no evidence of), he'd still take his own precautions. Puffton actions just make no sense, and there's hardly anything to account for it. Speaking of strange things... Isn't it weird how a rescue team (consisting of 2 choppers) was sent after 31 weeks sincel ast known signal? You'd think that for someone like Puffton, who seems to be quite wealthy (have you seen the inheritance he left for Virginia?), after a single day of complete radio silence from the entire island, they'd sent a team. Not to mention that if there were still sane people after the "event", they'd likely try using devices on the island (which still work, like a 3D printer and associated computer) to send for help, as they'd witness horrors. Unless whole thing was a sabotage, but like I said - some of the electronics still operate, they'd likely contact the world and tell them about situation on the island. Now, I'll say this - throughout the island, there are various corpses of what appears to be mercenaries, in plenty of camps, so chances are, we weren't the first team. But that'd leave us with even stranger result - I mean, if you keep sending in merc teams, but they constantly go radio silent soon after arrival (and even get shot down almost instantly, as evidenced by US), you'd think someone would figure out that something ain't quite right, and contact official authorities. Military would likely get involved, unless enemy operatives (which are likely Sahara), have prohibited that from happening. But if they did, then we wouldn't be sent there in the first place to begin with. Plus, Puffton outbid Sahara for the purchase of the island, his company would still have more money to outbribe Sahara, etc. And as closing - I find it interesting that we have no idea what happened to another teammate that flew in our chopper, Fisheye. We never find his body, nor do we see him die. Everyone from team B seems to be accounted for, even if dead, and (depending on landing) we see our pilot die. Also, same can be said about Barbara Puffton - we have no idea what happened with her. Now, the game is in Early Access, so chances are we might come to know those answers later on. Hell, chances are game might be receiving serious re-writes as we speak.
I like your views!! The one thing I'll add, is some people seemingly took their own lives to avoid mutating (several human bodies outside of bunkers or in bathtubs)
@@firstnamelastname7982 Could be. Some bodies do look like they just up and died on a spot, with no cause (and most of the B team chose to end themselves, though that might be due to desperation more than awareness of mutations). But it still stands that majority of what we find has clear signs of foul play.
Wow I love your take, your put so many logical questions that are now put into my mind like, “omg you’re so right!” It amazes me on how in detail you go to, I read the wholeeee thingggg
A lot of people around the island probably killed themselves after learning what would happen to them if they were near the cube when it activated. As well as this, most if not all of the dead workers around the island suffered from severe brain damage or rupturing of the ear drums judging by the fact they are bleeding from their ears like Kelvin is. It could be the case that some people suffered a brain rupture due to whatever energy is released by the cube on activation rather than mutation, or only important individuals suffered from a mutation as a result of the dimensional shockwave as they are more varied in their alternate universes while only the non-important people such as maintenance crew and mining teams suffered from a brain rupture because of their more mundane alternate selves.
@@moddable6921 You see, I'm not sure if I'd agree with the last part, but that is mostly down to the idea of multiverse - I mean, what are the odds that in alternate realities, the workers are also living mundane lives? It's a bit... I dunno, improbable. The odds would be the same as for the elite. Plus, you'd also need to account for universes where the person in question just doesn't exist... Multiverse is a whole can of warms altogether, because it brings inifinite amount of questions. I'd be much more comfortable with the proximity theory, as that actually would reasonably explain things. Also - I'll be honest, I did not see blood coming off of their ears, must've missed that. I mean, I noticed it on Kelvin (obviously), but not on the bodies present. I'll need to take a closer look next time I play.
One interesting thing that is maybe good to know, when you dont progress through the story and you get past 25 Days or maybe 30 dont know exactly. Nearly every cannibal camp gets overrun by mutants and they staying there.
Its not related to days. You see the caves are barricaded and probably by locals or what we call cannibals. When you breach it after some days you see the mutants outside on the surface and after that you see one or two mutants tied to a stick with rope alive in some of the camps which means cannibals took them and some days later you can see their number grow and fight each other cannibals loses their camps and etc. You can find their biggest camp near the beach that eriks helicopter landed their cloth a bit diffrent too tho im not sure its a permanent thing or because i was there near the winter
While he mentioned the moon cycle of the Cube Activation, I was thinking it would be a trip if the Cube actually activated without going to it if you stay on the Island long enough w/o beating the game. Now that you mention the mutants overrun the cannibal camps, are they overrunning from the caves or being turned?
@@abolfazlshariati9918 YES! I haven't even played these games but the snippets of clues and the ending really blew my mind. It was really bothering me not knowing htf it all pieces together. This video definitely helped w/that. But you're right. These games deserve a rich lore background and you can feel it just beyond the surface of the game.
The mystery and power of the artifact is what gives the story and the game this fascinating lore, it is almost HP Lovecraft type of cosmic horror, also similar to Junji Ito's Uzumaki where he never give an explanation to the ancient spiral structures but just the consequence of its power and the people victim to it.
Good breakdown, Thanks to you I now know what happened to Mr.Puffton. After I watched the CCTV myself I made a theory that the reason Virginia is still "normal" compared to the rest is that like in the recording and like Timmy she ended up splitting however not completely and ended up "stuck" with her and another version of herself which is why she has the 3 arms and legs. But seeing how her feet are morphed into ballet shoes she could just be a lucky mutant
I was thinking maybe the original Virginias from forest were poor tries to save their daughter and the current one was the best they could do. Cuz she sure doesn't act like a normal person. And I think in the ccctv I see the wife in bottom screen changing
@@johnnyvain544 I thought I saw the wife and husband in the video first myself splitting into those faceless ones and then since this video it could just be the woman but since this game has maybe 6 character models for people it wouldn't surprise me if everyone in that room is using the puffton models
He explains Virginia at 9:18 though. The whole point of Virgina being "normal" is because it was one of the success stories from the lab in the first game. That's why they refer to all the 3 armed/legged female monsters as Virgina in the research lab in the first game. It's also why the Pufftons knew to outbid Sahara on the 2nd island because they cured their daughter of whatever terminal illness she had so they wanted the 2nd island's tech to themselves not knowing it was going to mutate everyone they brought to the island. Virgina is likely uneffected by the cube because she's already been touched by an artifact like Timmy. She's literally one of the kids from the first island and did not mutate because of the cube.
@@ohhello937 Problem is there is nothing in this game that indicates that their daughter had any illnesses and the artefact in site 1 (The Forest) only brings the dead back to life by using another soul which in this case was using the already mutant child of Dr.Cross to bring back Timmy. It was also a lab owned by Sahara not Puffton so they would have no access of it but would have knowledge due to what I believe is a whistleblower sending Puff corp emails of the artefacts. I feel the Virginia in this game is more of a "name sake" for anyone who played the first game and discovered the story at the end lab than having any actual ties to the mutants or story in the first game especially since theres a massive time skip between TF and SOTF since both Tim and Eric LeBlanc are much older indicating so. It also doesn't help that from my view the story is not 100% setup as we dont know where Barbara is or who the woman is but this video theorises that its Lisa which I dont know how it would make sense but this game is sort of 50/50 with being solid on its story and bat shit crazy
i cant wait till the game is completely fleshed out. im so excited to basically re experience the fun i had in the first game. not to mention going back through after every update because sometimes they make changes you really have to look for.
I'd like to add a couple of things. The ones with the GPS locators belong to Team B, the other team that were coming with us. It also appears that some sort of struggle happened at the shore, in which, the guy with the gps locator succumbed to his wounds and managed to take out the guy. In general, it seems as if the entire Team B was ambushed by the Silver Jacket, somehow, managed to kill some of them. I also believe at the Banquet, that Barbara sat alone when the mutation happened. You're right about the employees, though. It seems very straight forward that he/she had something to do with the slaughtering of the employees.
In one of the last bunkers, you can find Mr. Pufftons will. The person who would take his estate if he died is marked out, if i remember correctly, but we can assume it would be his wife or daughter since that is how it generally works out. This would give her some kind of motive. Someone else mentioned you can see her morph into different versions of herself in the security footage, which leads me to believe that she was also potentially killed and resurrected in the first game, I've not played "The Forest" though, so don't know a lot about it. I am also interested in the two big "slug" mutants you encounter. There is a smaller one in a cave that blocks a corridor, and the other in the cut scene. It would appear that the closer they are to the cube, the worse the mutation is, so who are they and how did the one get that far? The first one you encounter is all the way across the map.
@@humanbeancasey4065 The executor of the will is redacted. The will itself explicitly states Virginia as the sole heir (and is literally circled with a sharpie to bring attention to it).
The Puffton couple might be alive but somewhere in a different location. In Cave we find the shovel there's a big not reachable location I don't know if it's one of the bunker's but seem's a bit sus and might be another secret bunker but for a boss fight wich would be both of them or only one also Virginia would be part of the boss fight there's no way they gaved the weapons only to help us against the cannibal and mutants
Team B is not the team you came with, they were a team previously on the island. When flying in, you can see the orange survival raft one of the members is dead inside of, so there's no way Team B was in the other helicopter because one of them would've had to swim out to the raft for no reason and presumably kill himself. Also, one of the members is literally buried. You can sprint over there day 0. It's not like they died and got put into a coffin and buried within like an hour. Team B was already on the island like many other bodies of Mercs
Before watching this video i honestly thought SOTF's story, especially the ending, was rushed. But now it actually makes sense and isn't shit. Thanks for the video man, real good work 👍
You can see Barbara Puffton in a security cam recording, i dont remember where it was, maybe in the facility where you find the crossbow. You can see her at the bottom of the screentalking to people or smthng, then the cube activates and similarly to timmy she pops into 5 versions before collapsing out of the camera view
in fact, it's interesting, The VIP don't transform 1:1 into mutants, at 0.5x speed you can with all of them see a clone version thats nude and mutant appear, and the original then falls backwards, loses its clothing and matches the mutant as it stands back up
What if the cube is not transforming those outsite in mutants and cannibals but instead changhing them with alternate versions of themselves? From the security camera footage we can see that they are not tranforming istead glitching. Maybe those guys who are now cannibals are somewhere else in an alternate universe.
The range of the cube could have something to do with that strange resonating metal, because it only seems to mutate people in caves underground where that metal is located. Maybe it funcions as a relay and relays the mutation signal further and further to another relay. It could even be that the higher concentration of that strange metal the more severe or pure the mutations are as we could see with the demons. Also the metal seems to be more and more abundant closer to the cube.
Yes i was thinking of the same thing! only those in the caves or underground were mutated! The cannibals and others who were under the caves when the cycle occured had mutated but those above were just normal! The cube might be a device that changes dimensions when the cycle occurs and those demons may not be from other dimension rather they might be the gaurdians of the cube (because the cross only affects them and not any other mutant) ! The resurrection thing actually takes a soul from a body and sends it across dimensions, Sahara found a way to alter the resurrection obelisk to take a soul and return a soul back from another dimension like its a machine to transfer souls but they did not realise that sometimes even entire bodies of several of the same individuals (variants) from another dimension can be teleported and fuse into single body which caused mutations. The cube also induces mutations in underground systems where the metal is present as the souls and bodies of the individuals warp across dimensions and they undergo distortions! Inside the cube people can be protected from the mutations occuring every cycle and can also send the multiple souls infused into a single body back to their respective dimensions.
The reference to hologram is probably more of a reference to the holographic principle of string theory. And then implying that it has a link with parallel worlds and such.
the way you tell the story into "story" is spot on. Subscribe because of it. Keep it going and cant wait to see another game lore into something like dis
I just want to write down that Edward Pufftons will is really... Really strange. It says that Virginia gets his 500 billion dollars if she can "survive him for 30 days" or something like that. Not a clue what it means but it's definitely notable EDIT: Folks in the replies pointed out that it's standard legalese, give or take. Either way dude was friggin LOADED
@@uberspaz7484 It's in one of the bunkers... there's a maintenence door in the room with the guy with the guitar shoved down his throat, and it's in there on a table.
Also, another thought that I just want to get down before I forget it, I think that the extraordinary new metal is like... Able to survive the shift in universes, like a sort of multiversal constant. Puffco mightve been looking into universe hopping tech, if that's the case. I know it sounds absolutely crazy but... It feels like a possibility. My real question is where the ancient artifacts came from. Could it be an ancient civilization? Maybe ancient universe-jumpers? Just... Who made this tech and *why* has me so curious
To be honest it's not that deep. Just legal/lawyer wording sounding complicated. "Shall Survive Me" means that the the person survive the person that wrote the Will also referred to as "Testator". Usually included to avoid situation in which Testator and Beneficiary die simultaneously. In others, there can be a survival required of a set number of days, such as 15, 30, 90, etc for the beneficiary to get what they inherit, in this case 30 days.
There definately is some sort of range on the artifact, the farther out you are the less mutated you become. This can be seen with the closer you get to the artifact, the more mutants there are, and on the flip side, this may explain the cannibals. It is an extreme leap for a human to just start eating people, especially on an island where there is clearly plenty of food resources. Therefore, the artifact may also just "mutate" a person's mind as well, causing them to do some pretty crazy stuff, like cannibalism. However, there must be some element of chance as some humans seem it remain the same(or maybe they offed themselves knowing what they would become), and that some of the cannibalism vary quite significant- almost mutant like. So being on the island my overtime cause you to change no matter what. But this doesn't really explain Chrome Person and Virginia. Why did chrome person chase after going into the cube? Why not just leave the island, or at least not be near it so that they didn't become what they became in the end? Maybe they didn't know the true effects of the cube? But that is hard to believe given what they did in the game: The motives of Chrome person is quite unclear. Then there is Virginia, why was she not as heavily mutated? I don't 100% buy the whole Virginia alternate reality thing, I feel there must be some more indepth reason. She doesn't seem to be "all there." She kinda acts like Kelvin in a way, a limited version of herself... My best guess her mother has something to do with it, as I have a hard time believing that the father would do something bad towards his daughter, considering that she is in the will...- but that's just a hunch. Great video btw. Been seeing so many people say this game didn't have any story. Nice to know that they were wrong.
You think it's a metaphysical phenomenon that human beings isolated on a remote island would eat other people? It isn't mate, historically it's really common.
@@deletedaccount175 But there is plenty to eat on the island, as was stated earlier in the comment. The Donner party weren't in an oasis when they decided to eat their dead!
@@RealBradMiller they are not even that kind of civilized people while in real live tribes and civilization managed to make a fire (this is probably need to be added but on the first the forest they managed to light up three house in the night.
I think how badly you mutate depends on how close you are to the cube (or whatever energy/power the cube protects you from) That’s why the cannibals are still pretty humanoid, but definitely seem off. They were never close enough to turn into full-blown monsters, but still close enough to still receive slight mutations, especially overtime. Same case with Virginia, she got hit, but wasn’t close enough to turn in biomass blob like silver jacket, but still grew and extra limbs and perhaps lost some intelligence/mental stability. As for silver jacket, my guess is that she’s some researcher. She only had a vague idea of what was happening, but not to the extent of Timmy. So she let us (the player) live so that we could possibly find leads for her. And we do. But by time she herself realizes what’s going on fully and that she’ll die/mutate if she doesn’t leave the island by X amount of time. (probably at the same rate/time we do) it’s too late to call for an evacuation and she has no option but to follow us and find the cube for herself to survive. She wouldn’t know what exactly was coming, much like the player or how far away she’d have to get to be safe, so the cube was her best option once she realized that something was 100% going to come. Either that, or we the player got further than she ever did to discovering the secrets of what was going on, so she decided to risk her life following us (knowing that we would find the cube and therefore safety) instead of leaving. If she evacuated the island she’d lose track of us, and all our discoveries.
the first felt like just a good survival game until you find certain locations and story elements, this one takes it to a other level I'm very impressed, great games! And I love the story for both
I'm glad it wasn't just me confused off my ass stumbling into the endgame blindly. One of the things this game needs is a very clear end of game area, like the first one had. You can see that sinkhole pretty easy, and it's damn intimidating and clearly saying "HEY THIS IS THE FINAL AREA". I feel like the new game needs more... Landmarks? I know you have a GPS but it's nice to intuitively know where you are without needing it
@@mitsuri3096 but you only see those once you're in the cave ... The sinkhole was visible from quite a ways away and very explicitly called out "hey, this pit is dangerous", even moreso with the dangerous mutants down at the bottom
Going into the bunker where you find Timmy facing off with a sluggy confused the fuck out of me. Didn't even know it was Timmy because he's not brought up during the game, so hopefully cutscenes will be added at the other POIs.
was waiting for a video like this, you did an amazing job! i love how you told it through the protagonist's prospective instead of just telling us the timeline of the story. love it! i also love marshmallow! shes so cute!
Think about how it says that youre safe inside the cube. This would mean that outside the cube everything mutates (as seen on the camera footage and silver jacket turning into a blob), and since silverjacket and maybe virginia (who did mutate slightly) and barbara (whose fate is unsure) didnt mutate badly they were in the cube during the first event
@@rick91842 I wish they had more of the game finished so we could say that for certain. The character and transformation models aren't finished with there only being about a dozen character models in the game and the clipping during the transformations. Her dipping out from under the screen when it's activated gives a little too much ambiguity with it being early access.
The thing i'm really confused on is how Timmy got to the gold cube before the protagonist at the end of the game- as well as how Kelvin gets there after you (And Virginia if you get her as a companion)- Neither of them follow us into caves, and the vault entrance is a tight fit so I wouldn't have any idea how Virginia would enter. There clearly isn't any alternative entrance so how Timmy got there without a weapon or gold armor is still a mistery.
@@cambria9893 yeah I was like walking in like: "Oooo this is the golden cu-Timmy? What are you doing here?... K-KELVIN? VIRGINIA?!?" -Me in the full gold armor required to get into the place... after fighting like 35 literal demons with an arsenal of weaponry and gear XD
Can't you just run past everything to get to the cube? I killed all the demons but might try just speed running it past next time. One could assume Timmy did the same, or thar all the demons didn't wake up and he only had to kill a few. As far as Kelvin and Virginia go, you could hand wave it as they followed behind while you killed them all. Also she can dual wield a shotgun and pistol so it's not like she's helpless. In reality it's early access and AI pathing is borked in the caves. Or you're meant to go it alone in caves and you just have to suspend disbelief.
As of right now ingame (literally just finished an hour ago), Timmy is ahead of you most of the time, and you even help him get into the final bunker by opening the doors and he walks through first. When you’re deep in the magma caves you can hear him fighting the demon boss and when you get there you can see him shooting it and attempting to fight it before being thrown. He still gets back up and helps you fight it. Afterwards he goes into the crack in the wall to the cube before you. About Kelvin and Virginia tho idfk I guess they were following us. Even for the final boss they’re nowhere to be found.
Now that is a perfect video to eat your dinner and enjoy it. Personally I always found story of The Foresy very interesting. Sons of The Forest got me confused at first but thanks to this Video I understood now everything.
I appreciate this piecing together of the clues. Having played through this with a friend who also played the original game we were very confused with the ending. There are a lot of gaps, inconsistencies, unanswered questions that you mentioned at the end, which for us really outweighed any sense that it made.
I was so worried about poor kelvin! Was super happy to see him snoozing in the chopper at the end. 😁 This is an amazingly thought out and researched video. Bravo!
first off great video, but i'm still as confused on the story as before lol. seems like there is a lot of 'stretching' of the story in this game, making it seem a bit ridiculous. lots of holes and 'miracles'... at the end of the forest story you could go 'aha' and kind of get what was happening even if you didn't know every detail, in this one it feels like a bunch of stuff thrown together for the sake of a story but the story isn't cohesive or lead you to an 'aha' moment. idk how to feel about it right now, i'd hope that the updates will add more to the story, it felt very short and definitely lacked any sort of boss or emotional moments like there was in the forest.
emotion? Bro everyone in the same server is dads of timmy İn our server it was 8 and also we tried to put cannibals and mutants into res obelisk and laughed at it you might call me emotionless maybe i am but forest is not an emotional game when timmy had 8 fathers
Honestly Im convinced they only added that story because some mongs were whingeing for an ending to the original forest for years on a game that really shouldn't have a story
SPOILER WARNING New update added more story stuff. Mr and Ms Puffton are now a boss that fight you as a pair of beefed-up Blind mutants so Barbara can be confirmed dead alongside her husband.
Great video, You answered to a lot of things I didn't understand because of the clumsy way we discover the story of the game. There are just 2 things I discovered that I didn't see in this video. When I entered the cube, Virginia joined with Kelvin and just after that we came back to our dimension, she started to shake like the cube was affecting her because of her mutation. I also discovered she is affraid of the cross if you show it at her, while Kelvin is not, maybe it's linked to her mutation? I would like to see another video when you get more informations on the story of the game :)
Ah so that was Timmy and his father. I thought we were playing as Timmy and the guy at the end was Edward and his son that had been rescued offscreen. This makes a lot more sense.
Best damn video about the Sons of the forest. This pieced together EVERYTHING so damn well, I learned more from this one video than the countless ones I watched before.
Looking forward to watching this after I finally complete the game. I have a normal and hard mode game just at that point to complete the story but I don’t want it to end! I have all the items and know exactly where to go (at least where to go next) but I’m just building mega structures to delay the inevitable lol
@dan j I finished the game early yesterday and I’m glad I did, but I’m also glad I avoided it for awhile. I wasn’t disappointed in the end-game experience, but I was disappointed that I had explored all the content and tried all the things the game had to offer. Learned all the mysteries. Although with this game releasing as early access it gives me hope that End Night has plenty more for us with future patches until full release. Personally I want more caves to explore, potentially caves specifically designed for after end game. The current caves become obsolete and irrelevant to explore as soon as you’ve gotten the items from them once, so I’d love to see a reason for regular cave exploration.
Just finished the game and was left baffled. Your explanation does a good job stitching everything together, thanks for the video. I feel like half the game is still missing, but it is EA. So, I'm sure there's plenty more to come. Btw my cat's name is Marshmellow too!
This game has so much lore with so much more for us to know with these next updates. Hopefully they add more different mutations and bring back the original Virginia mutants.
This video was well crafted. You efficiently presented the story to us in an entertaining, yet informative fashion. I would love more content like this.
@Humpy Gamez They asked for our thoughts and if we would like more of this style of content; I gave my honest thoughts. I perfectly understood the story, thus inferring that they explained it well, while also keeping me entertained throughout the story's explanation.
Yeah this was very well done! Very comprehensive video breaking down both stories and the tie in between, at least I understood it more better for sure.
Thank you so much for making this! It was very cohesive and entertaining. I like that you matched up the story you pieced together with gameplay footage. It really helped to understand things. Hope you live a long and happy life, Marshmalow!! 💓💓💓💓
man great recap, i had no idea about the cross helping at the end. Used basically every bullet I had from the entire playthrough to kill all of those damn things. Also Katana go burr
Funny how I just known now they are literal demons , so Basically I really did a doom guy at the end using buckshot shotgun lol cause I got so pissed off by the baby mutants chipping off my armor at that point, the scares and I even called them Wendigo looking A** pieces of sh*ts hahaha and was literally so angry to give a f*ck and just run and gun them lol.
You have to beat the game with Virginia AND Kelvin still alive to get more information. I think Timmy got there the same way Virginia and Kelvin magically do despite not following you. I also completely missed the detail that Silver Jacket had boobs when she leans over you with the gun at 1:54. Interesting villain. The ending city also reminded me of the ending to The Forest, where Timmy looks out his window at the dark night cityscape. Almost like he was seeing the city the Cube showed. I hope that like the original Forest game, they'll add more to the ending as EA progresses. Great video though.
I'd like to think both Virginia and Kelvin are with the Player when going through the VIP bunker, but due to Virginias Pathing and Kelvins inability to defend himself it would be hard to bring them through. One of those, they are technically there from the story perspective type deals.
@@andyurboi I just finished the game and same thing happened to me. I just watched another video saying that they have to be at the VIP bunker entrance when you go in in order for Virginia to be in the ending cutscene.
Frickin great job put this all together so quickly. I just finished the story an hour ago, and am now letting myself watch vids like these. I had put together the broader gist of it, but your vid really helps with a lot of unanswered questions and allows me to better speculate on the remaining mysteries and interpretations....Endnight has confirmed the ending is still a WIP and lots more lore and cutscenes will be added, so we'll see where that takes it.
BEARS/WOLVES detailed suggestion. Many people are wanting more variety and challenge in the world to help with the survival aspect. Endnight have stated they have no plans for bears or wolves currently but here we go anyway. Endnight seem to like the AI side of things so having a somewhat smart ai for animals would be great as well, especially for the long term survival aspect of the game. Wolves Basics: The island could be populated with a few packs of timber wolves. (3-4 different packs) There will be locations on the map that they can use as dens (like the single room caves) They roam the map as a pack. They can have pups during the spring. (Will be more defensive around young) Hunt their own food and have a hunger system, if they can't get enough food to feed themselves and their family they may go after a cannibal (or you). They will occasionally howl, if you can hear howling then you know they are in the area. Anywhere between 5-10 wolves in a pack. Packs are persistent (if you kill half of a pack of 8 then only 4 will remain in that pack until they have more babies) If an entire pack dies then another pack can spawn in after a year/seasonal rotation. Den system: A wolf pack will have a den they call home, they will rest and eat here (if they bring food home). When they are out hunting the den may lay empty. During spring time the pack may have pups and in that case while they are young they will remain at the den with some adult wolves while a smaller group go out hunting. Every now and then they may decide to move home, in that case all the wolves will move out as a pack in search for a new den location. Inside an active den you may find meat, bones and other 'scavenged' things. An unoccupied den may have some bones and maybe some left over stuff. Hunger system: The hunger system will work similar to that of the 'anger' system on the cannibals. The hungrier they are then the more likely they are to attack you or the cannibals. Individual wolves may hunt for small game like rabbits to take back to their den to feed any pups or themselves. A pack of wolves hunting will go for larger game like deer or even a moose. Each wolf will get a fill of their meal and satiate their hunger. If they don't get enough food and can't find an alternate food source then they could die and their body will remain in the world for a bit to be scavenged by you or other wolves (If they are also basically starving). Will be more likely to happen during winter. Pups: During the spring you may see pups roaming with a pack, or just chilling in/outside of their den. They won't have babies every spring, if they already have young growing then they won't have more babies until they have all grown. The wolves will be more defensive when they have babies and will be more likely to attack you, cannibals or even a bear if you/they get to close. The pups will slowly grow over two years (two seasonal rotations). And become more independent as they get older like joining in on hunting trips or even trying to catch their own food, or even wandering off on their own somewhere. Attacking: The wolves will generally avoid the player if they sense them, you may see them observing you from a distance but if they are not showing any aggression then you should be fine if you keep your distance and don't provoke them. If a wolf is planning to attack you then it's posture will be more aggressive and it will be growling/barking at you to give you a warning. A single wolf will be fairly easy to fend off as it is likely just starving and looking for food, you could fight it head on or even try throwing it some meat and it may take it and leave you alone, loud gunshots may deter them aswell. If a pack of wolves decide you are a threat/prey then fighting may not be a wise decision unless you have enough firepower/backup. A way to prevent them from attacking you is fire, they don't like fire and will back away from it, keep at it and hopefully they will leave you alone. Loud gunshots may also put them off but not as much as if they were alone. If you do fight a group/pack of wolves then if you manage to kill enough of them then the rest may flee. Befriending Wolves: This is not taming the wolves! Just making them more friendly towards you. If you do find out a wolf pack is living in your area then you can attempt to befriend them to make it a little safer for yourself. To make peace with the wolves then you would need to not attack them or threaten them in anyway. If you notice you are being watched then you can drop some food on the floor (maybe put a stick in the floor and slap some meat on it) and move far enough away, a wolf may then approach the meat and eat it/take it home. If you do this enough then the wolves won't see you as a threat. But as a source of food. Once you are friendly enough with a pack then if one is starving then they may approach you for food, just be careful and make sure the body language is friendly/submissive and not aggressive. You can then drop some food for it and it will take it without attacking. If you are being attack by cannibals and the befriended pack sees this then they may attack the cannibals to defend their 'food source'. While they are friendly they won't move den/home, you can get a bit closer without them warning you to go away (makes it easier to see some pups). They will still attack if you get too close to any pups or hurt any of them. If you do not maintain this friendship by feeding then they will become less friendly until they don't care about you anymore. Uses for them They provide a challenge to the survival aspect of the game. Can provide you with wolf skin that can be used for decoration. Adds more to the environment and dynamics of the world. If befriended then can provide some protection. Bears Basics: There will be a small number of brown bears around the map. There will be locations on the map that they can use as dens (like the single room caves) They are solitary creatures that avoid interacting with other bears. Hunt their own food and have a hunger system, if they can't get enough food to feed themselves they may go after a cannibal (or you). Behaviour: Bears will roam the forest in search for food, they will eat the berries off of berry bushes where available. They will gather at rivers where fish jump to try and catch them for food, there is a chance that two bears may go to the same spot for food and this may be the only chance to see 2 bears at once without a fight. If there are wolf cubs around then if hungry enough they may attempt to hunt one. They will also kill small animals for food. During the winter bears will hibernate in their dens/caves, as long as you aren't making too much noise outside the den then they won't be disturbed. However if you sneak and wake them up they won't be too happy and will chase you off or attack you. They will have a hunger system similar to the wolves in that if they don't get enough food then they may seek out a human victim. If a bear comes across another bear then there will be a showdown, they will try to scare each other off and if that fails they may fight each other. Bears will generally avoid attacking people unless hungry or provoked. Cannibals will actively avoid bears unless attacked by one. They can leave scratch marks on tree trunks (A way to tell that bears are around/have been in the area) Attacking: Bears will avoid a fight if possible, they will growl and roar at you to get you to go away. If that fails they will enter fighting mode (if they don't decide to just run away instead). They will approach you cautiously and may charge at you. (Running away at this point may cause the bear to chase you). The first time it charges will most likely be a bluff charge and if you stand your ground it will back off a bit again. However if you attack it then it will attack back. To get out of this fight then you should walk away while facing the bear and resist any bluff charges once you get enough distance between you and the bear then it will leave you alone and go about it's business. Bear spray could also be added as something you can find in the world (Maybe even be able to refill it with a plant blend you can craft). Using this on a bear when it charges at you will stop the charge and cause it to loose interest in you for a moment giving you a chance to gain some distance. If you choose to fight a bear then using melee will more than likely result in your death You have a few options: Large calibre gun like a shotgun slug or revolver round, a well placed shot to the head will take it out. Crossbow/Compound bow could take it out in a couple shots with carbon fibre bolts/arrows. Using a crafted bow/9mm/weaker arrows will be less effective and require more shots to stop the bear. Taser/baton won't get through the fur. If the bear is damaged enough then it may attempt to flee unless it is killing for food, then it will be a fight to the death. Uses for them Provides a challenge for the survival aspect. Can provide you with bear skin that can be used for decoration or worn as an outfit. Bear skull/head decoration. Adds more to the environment and dynamics of the world. Gives the berries more things to do. Please provide feedback below about this idea and anything that could be added/changed. If all of us request this they have to add this please spread this message.
Thanks for this video. I was so confused on what the hell was going on in either of the cutscenes or who the other characters were. I definitely did not piece the story together, nor connected anything to the first on my own.
I feel like the closer you are to the cube will determine what mutant you turn into. If you're right outside the cube (like the silver jacket lady) then you'll turn into the big baby thing, if your a bit further then you'll turn into a demon, then even further a twin, then fingers then a blind mutant
Don't think the demons are mutations to begin with, being the only group that are affected by the cross. That and the baby thing looks very immobile, how one could get farther than the demons should be called into question too.
amazing video that cleared a lot of things up and the game is still only in alpha i should imagine well be getting a lot more content/ story developments possibly changes ect.
You can choose to stay on the island at the end by turning around and grabbing the backpack on the ground. Not sure if Kelvin and Virginia stick around tho since I haven't reached that point myself, yet.
@@soldierhobbes1182 if you stay on the island both virginia and kelvin stay on the island with you. im curious on if the cube will ever activate again if you stay on the island though.
@@jojjo113 the cannibals have definetely been on the island for more than 160 days i suppose, so i guess the cubes effects are limited to the underground
I don't know if that was intentional but you didn't talk about Virginia when she enters the cube (because she can, you just have to have her at the entry of the bunker outside and she'll go in the cube and in the heli after) and one thing i know for the moment is that nobody knows why have they chosen a futuristic city, why is the moon so close, why is the moon kinda of goldy as they material they were looking for, etc etc
A couple of things to note, In alternate helicopter crashes it seems to float before hitting the ground, this could hint at either the silver man having an artifact similar to the one on site 1 that knocked down the planes, and in another alternate crash a mutant jumps to the helicopter from the ground. Which, from what we see in game, is entirely impossible. Which i would believe proves the possibility of him being Megan cross. Also a theory I believe is that the ore is what turns the people into mutants outside of the cube. And lastly, great video man. You stuck to the facts (besides the silver man being Megan cross) and didn’t really speculate on anything that wasn’t founded in fact Ps - if you end up being right about silver man being Megan cross, that’s a hell of a leap from the developers but I hope they expand more on why he kept us alive and what exactly he was doing in the areas we found him at
I appreciate the effective narration of the game's story, even if some story beats are extrapolated. It's like listening to an audiobook of sorts. Thank you so much for the experience and I'm looking forward to future videos in this style.
Yeah thanks for these, the Forest series intentionally structures its story that you have to piece it together yourself but is clear enough that a true storyline can be determined. These are good for us who might have missed some clues in the general gameplay.
What I find interesting is that it seems that the rock wall that is revealed once the "portal" disappears it seems like there is actually a pit. That combined with the concept of holograms could mean that all the notes warning to stay in the cube may have a double meaning.
My friend and I got to the end tonight. She had the cutscenes you displayed at the end. But in my cutscenes inside the cube, Virginia was there with us and collapsed into “my” arms as I cradled her head. I think she died. We accidentally chose to remain on the island and “fight demons”. The tracker we gave Virginia is still appearing on the map but we can’t see her when we reach her location. Anyone else have Virginia in their cube cutscene???
@@ScreaminSeahawk just logged back into my save today (after choosing to remain on the island). She is indeed alive and well… until I accidentally hit her with a grenade killing the flipping double headed worm monster 😬😂
I’m not saying the story is bad, it just seems like they picked plot points with a dartboard. We have a missing family, alternate timelines intersecting, cannibals on an island, mutants on an island, a possible precursor race/aliens/inter-dimensional beings/demons (they were repelled by a cross. Probably not, though. Lol), and hints that it may all just be a simulation. This story is both intriguing and hurts my brain. The video was very entertaining and informative. Great work!
Hi, just wanted to tell you that Barbara is on the monitor when everybody turns, but she seems to have a dimensional event. On the table, there are the labels of the three pufftons , not only Edward.
The note with the symbols is referring to a cave painting in the cave where you get the rope gun, after blowing the slug and fighting off the two fingers and couple of regular mutants, there is a large cube painted on the wall and symbols matching the note written underneath, i havent gone back and checked what they say yet
I hope the devs add more story set pieces to the game so it starts to make more sense, I'm honestly intrigued by the premise they are trying to make here, but hopefully they add more to it before it's full release and change the ending to a more detailed one, since it was underwhelming that we didn't get to fight a boss and get an ending with all the questions answered. BTW I thought we were playing as Timmy lol
In my playthrough, the girl with 3 legs and arms also joined me in the cube but seemingly dies in my arms inside the cube as well. Don't know how, but it did happen
Thanks for another amazing vid! My ending was slightly different because [SPOILERS] Virginia jumped into the cube alongside Kelvin before it activated for me. After the activation she collapsed in my characters arms, but I couldn't tell if she was dead or unconscious. The rest was all the same, but my friend who beat it with me didn't see her just like I didn't see her in your vid. Maybe it's because I have the max relationship achievement?
Never played this game, nor the original. Saw this video and I subscribe based solely upon how well you did your breakdown. I can't wait until you drop the second vid. Outstanding work, good sir!
it may be just me, but that planet in the alien dimension looks like its made out of pure gold or whatever the ore is called, also some structures of that place look a lot like the obelisk from the first game.
I just found your channel and loved your SotF videos! I subbed because the quality of ur videos are sooo good!! Hope ur cat Marshmallow gets many treats too :)
I think this cube was made by the aliens. Aliens made this cube to travel to our world but they make a mistake and all humans on this island (Site 2) turn into mutants.

I could be that it was a premonition. The armor could have been recently forged but also that fate would have you end up in that cube with the armor.

And then further in that same cave in the night club area there’s an email about how the sender believes Jianyu may be working for Sahara and to be careful. yes, I think that lines up with what happened to Tim in the Cube!
Wouldnt he technically die in the cube then? Since he died in this dimension then once all the other versions leave he should die then. Thats my take tho.
@@ZeroFlings maybe the cube “compress” all the alternative versions into one
That doesn't make that much sense imo. Wouldn't timmy be a different personality maybe or something like that if the alternate version one was put into his body? And if all of timmys alternate versions were put into one body in site 1, then taken out by the cube in site 2, then how is timmy still moving about?
@@SRHv2 maybe they put one that had the same personality in him, theres infinite universes after all
Just an idea to add to that is that the radius of whatever mutates the people, is only found in the caves or somehwere very close to the cube.
These are some really great ideas, well said!
@@ItsShatter Thanks! Looking forward to more of the lore as it's discovered.

I think Barbara was at the banquet. I fought two bosses there and it looked like Barbara and Edward Puffton
Edit: I think she was added on the recent patch
definitely saw 2 Pufftons as mutants
I know for a fact we defeated the Puffton parents yesterday.

But you're right. These games deserve a rich lore background and you can feel it just beyond the surface of the game.
@@abolfazlshariati9918 if you came up with this, you’re a goddamn genius! This is interesting
Idk if it's just a reference or if there really is some parallels to be made but the Virginia from The forest had feet similar to that.
@@humanbeancasey4065 Makes sense also i would recommend playing the forest its loads of fun
You can see her at the bottom of the screentalking to people or smthng, then the cube activates and similarly to timmy she pops into 5 versions before collapsing out of the camera view
you can see it at 4:23 , damn thats interesting, never noticed that
in fact, it's interesting, The VIP don't transform 1:1 into mutants, at 0.5x speed you can with all of them see a clone version thats nude and mutant appear, and the original then falls backwards, loses its clothing and matches the mutant as it stands back up
I've been watching a little bit the detail but that doesn't seem to be Barbara but a random guest. We might see her somewhere in future as a boss
Pretty sure she's the giant mutant in the trailers they havnt added yet
@@mitsuri3096 agreed! Im looking forward to it
This method of explaining a storyline in a game is brilliant, keep doing this!
What if the cube is not transforming those outsite in mutants and cannibals but instead changhing them with alternate versions of themselves? From the security camera footage we can see that they are not tranforming istead glitching. Maybe those guys who are now cannibals are somewhere else in an alternate universe.
Man it would suck to be them. They got teleported to cannibal world xD
Like a Cloverfield Paradox?
could be. Or just bad programming. This was bit of a problem in the first game as well. It's the age old question of is it a bug or a feature.
Inside the cube people can be protected from the mutations occuring every cycle and can also send the multiple souls infused into a single body back to their respective dimensions.
i like this take
The reference to hologram is probably more of a reference to the holographic principle of string theory.
Not a clue what it means but it's definitely notable

Where's the will?
@@uberspaz7484 It's in one of the bunkers... there's a maintenence door in the room with the guy with the guitar shoved down his throat, and it's in there on a table.
Also, another thought that I just want to get down before I forget it,
I think that the extraordinary new metal is like...
@@danielnguyen9815 ahhhhh OK, that makes sense!
It mightve been included to show just how absurdly wealthy this dude was then.
The script for the video is like a novel! Fantastic job 👏🏻
If she evacuated the island she’d lose track of us, and all our discoveries.
that extra arms and legs .. is virginia mom fused together ......with her

Really excited for them to update the game now. I was so confused when that cutscene appeared with timmy and those other people in it.
I'm glad it wasn't just me confused off my ass stumbling into the endgame blindly. One of the things this game needs is a very clear end of game area, like the first one had.
Assuming silverjacket was on the island at that time to begin with. She could also be a spy that was stuck with Team B, for instance.
Barbara turned in a mutant, in a recording you can see her mutate.
It's not just a mistery it's also simply bullshit. I said "wtf are you doing here?" out loud on my own when he was there.
Timmy already has some sort of connection to these structures which is what I’d imagine, allowed him to bypass the door.
First time seeing your channel, and was just looking for a story with a bit of speculation, exactly what I got, excellent job!
Bravo!
Good explanations. This clears up a lot of confusion I had. Even with speculation it seems very accurate.
first off great video, but i'm still as confused on the story as before lol. seems like there is a lot of 'stretching' of the story in this game, making it seem a bit ridiculous. lots of holes and 'miracles'... at the end of the forest story you could go 'aha' and kind of get what was happening even if you didn't know every detail, in this one it feels like a bunch of stuff thrown together for the sake of a story but the story isn't cohesive or lead you to an 'aha' moment. idk how to feel about it right now, i'd hope that the updates will add more to the story, it felt very short and definitely lacked any sort of boss or emotional moments like there was in the forest.
Yoooo pooof
emotion? Bro everyone in the same server is dads of timmy
İn our server it was 8 and also we tried to put cannibals and mutants into res obelisk and laughed at it you might call me emotionless maybe i am but forest is not an emotional game when timmy had 8 fathers
You must be one of those "Elden RiNg HaS nO sToRy" types
Honestly Im convinced they only added that story because some mongs were whingeing for an ending to the original forest for years on a game that really shouldn't have a story
It's a horror/survival game after all, the story is a nice addition and a final boss is even less to be expected
easily the best explanation ive seen with only 400 likes? crazy
SPOILER WARNING
New update added more story stuff.
This is actually really good, and where I think the story is going. Great work!
The current caves become obsolete and irrelevant to explore as soon as you’ve gotten the items from them once, so I’d love to see a reason for regular cave exploration.
jesus this is the best video game story breakdown ive ever seen
Just Fantastic !
I never play the forest one so many things was obscure to me till now ! Hopefully the update will put new lore to discover .
I would love more content like this.
d riding is wild wtf
@Humpy Gamez
They asked for our thoughts and if we would like more of this style of content; I gave my honest thoughts.
I perfectly understood the story, thus inferring that they explained it well, while also keeping me entertained throughout the story's explanation.
Story makes a lot more sense now thanks 👍
I have just finished watching minimal play through the game and this answers a lot of questions
Man, such a good story telling, I enjoyed your explanation. This game has fascinating lore, would love to see it on screen to be honest :D
Yeah this was very well done! Very comprehensive video breaking down both stories and the tie in between, at least I understood it more better for sure.
nice video man! I bet its gonna blow up!
Lmao I also just beat the game. Katana does go burr
@@JaCrispy3060 Virginia in the cold goes burr ... you know ... cuz it's cold. Don't know why a Katana would go brrr, it doesn't have skin.
this is the best story breakdown i've seen in a good while, good job bro
One of those, they are technically there from the story perspective type deals.
yeah, silver jacket's face looks like a man
silver jacket kinda reminds me megan from the forest that has been revivived yet again and wants to be cured like timmy by the cube
My friend and I had gotten Virginia as a companion but she didn't get into the cutscene with us, sucked to find out yesterday.
Wolves
Basics:
The island could be populated with a few packs of timber wolves. (3-4 different packs)
There will be locations on the map that they can use as dens (like the single room caves)
They roam the map as a pack.
They can have pups during the spring. (Will be more defensive around young)
Hunt their own food and have a hunger system, if they can't get enough food to feed themselves and their family they may go after a cannibal (or you).
Den system:
A wolf pack will have a den they call home, they will rest and eat here (if they bring food home).
Hunger system:
The hunger system will work similar to that of the 'anger' system on the cannibals.
Pups:
During the spring you may see pups roaming with a pack, or just chilling in/outside of their den.
Attacking:
The wolves will generally avoid the player if they sense them, you may see them observing you from a distance but if they are not showing any aggression then you should be fine if you keep your distance and don't provoke them.
Befriending Wolves:
This is not taming the wolves!
Uses for them
They provide a challenge to the survival aspect of the game.
Can provide you with wolf skin that can be used for decoration.
Adds more to the environment and dynamics of the world.
If befriended then can provide some protection.
Bears
Basics:
There will be a small number of brown bears around the map.
There will be locations on the map that they can use as dens (like the single room caves)
They are solitary creatures that avoid interacting with other bears.
Hunt their own food and have a hunger system, if they can't get enough food to feed themselves they may go after a cannibal (or you).
Behaviour:
Bears will roam the forest in search for food, they will eat the berries off of berry bushes where available.
They can leave scratch marks on tree trunks (A way to tell that bears are around/have been in the area)
Attacking:
Bears will avoid a fight if possible, they will growl and roar at you to get you to go away.
If you choose to fight a bear then using melee will more than likely result in your death
You have a few options:
Large calibre gun like a shotgun slug or revolver round, a well placed shot to the head will take it out.
Uses for them
Provides a challenge for the survival aspect.
Poor fella only has 2 likes for an entire essay 😭😭
Does seem cool tho
I was not expecting to be blessed with such an adorable kitty at the end
Thanks for this video. I was so confused on what the hell was going on in either of the cutscenes or who the other characters were. I definitely did not piece the story together, nor connected anything to the first on my own.
This is so good and thank you. I have been wanting to see a video that explains the lore this good. Thank you 👍👍
I feel like the closer you are to the cube will determine what mutant you turn into.
Dunno about this theory, as there was the blob in another cave system chilling in a crack. I don't think that area was connected to the cube at all.
One of the best explanation.. Earned a like & a sub ❤❤
This is such an amazing video. Thanks man you cleared so much for me.
amazing video that cleared a lot of things up and the game is still only in alpha i should imagine well be getting a lot more content/ story developments possibly changes ect.
@@haha-zx3ii yeah, shouldnt you techncally die if you stay in game for longer than 160 days?
@@jojjo113 the cannibals have definetely been on the island for more than 160 days i suppose, so i guess the cubes effects are limited to the underground
I don't know if that was intentional but you didn't talk about Virginia when she enters the cube (because she can, you just have to have her at the entry of the bunker outside and she'll go in the cube and in the heli after) and one thing i know for the moment is that nobody knows why have they chosen a futuristic city, why is the moon so close, why is the moon kinda of goldy as they material they were looking for, etc etc
You make ot so much more understanding man, good video dude.
It is going to be interesting to see what Endnight adds to the map and the story as updates start flowing in.
You stuck to the facts (besides the silver man being Megan cross) and didn’t really speculate on anything that wasn’t founded in fact
Ps - if you end up being right about silver man being Megan cross, that’s a hell of a leap from the developers but I hope they expand more on why he kept us alive and what exactly he was doing in the areas we found him at
I appreciate the effective narration of the game's story, even if some story beats are extrapolated. It's like listening to an audiobook of sorts. Thank you so much for the experience and I'm looking forward to future videos in this style.
feels like someone is telling me a nicely narrated short story
The bullet shot at the heli seems to be coming from the rescue raft where you find the handgun.
Possible Sahara double-agent?
Sea helicopter so 2 engines at least and a handgun shoots it down? Not a chance.
That combined with the concept of holograms could mean that all the notes warning to stay in the cube may have a double meaning.
lol
Im only 7min in but I can already say your storytelling is really good.
Yea, I thought she died too. I chose to stay on the island, but I haven’t gone to search for her yet.
Great work!
I think everybody forgot about the huge hand mutant in the trailer, that might be Barbara or a planned boss or something
Loved the detail you put into the vid. Looking forward to one on The Forest as well as future ones. You've earned a Sub.
Hi, just wanted to tell you that Barbara is on the monitor when everybody turns, but she seems to have a dimensional event. On the table, there are the labels of the three pufftons , not only Edward.
Good eye
Incredibly well put together edit. Bravo, I haven’t seen anything like this before. Keep up the good work
The note with the symbols is referring to a cave painting in the cave where you get the rope gun, after blowing the slug and fighting off the two fingers and couple of regular mutants, there is a large cube painted on the wall and symbols matching the note written underneath, i havent gone back and checked what they say yet
Fantastic synopsis. Best I’ve seen for any game. Thanks.
Its because you havr gps tracker on her
Never played this game, nor the original.
I've never been more motivated to subscribe than by feeding a cat.
