    Ah yes, the HE campaign where your best ally is the Dwarves. Also those Ogres just don't know when they are beaten. Diplomacy with Ogre clan down to 1 minor settlement and no army: Ogres: "I didn't hear no bell".

    Imrik was my most played campaign in WH2, I just started one in WH3 and found it to be very relaxing compared to WH2. You have so many options to where to go first, but the enemies that you do not kill at beginning will come at you at some point, notably Clan Mors and Grimgor. Also you can actually get alliance going with Helman Ghorst, so you don't have to worry about him.

    • @nonesuch6833

      It's funny how chill Ghorst is with the order factions in the region lol. He will try and ally with you of his own accord if you play as either dragon, very useful since he shuts down Nurgle completely.

      Ghorst was my only friend the last time I did imrik, and he got his shit rocked as soon as grimgore showed up. Also that minor dwarf faction to the west never lasts long. Oh yeah and now there's a chorf faction nearby. The campaign is brutal

    One of the things I like about Imrik in 3 vs 2 is the addition of bridges around Pigbarter, just because those rivers were such a pain to navigate while Eshin could tunnel under them with no problem.

      I commented on this a few vids ago. If you don't rush Malekith ASAP the campaign is extremely difficult, cause no matter how much you try to cosy up with him he will declare war on you. I usually take Ghrond's capital and vassalise them so that you can focus on Malekith literally asap, and in my experience by vassalising Ghrond it prevents Har Ganeth declaring war on you and dragging you eastwards

    • @iamdopeasfcuk
      @iamdopeasfcuk Рік тому +2

      just vassalize all the dark elves as valkia. that gives you a buffer to your dark fortresses and your vassals will start fighting the factions you haven't vassalized yet. valkia's army is strong af too, so grombrindal and malekith are barely a problem, especially since you fight them early game when they still have trash units and you basically have a stack full of khornate chaos warriors with some chosen if you've been fighting a lot and ranked up your units.
      also, i recommend peacing out with ghrond and going eastward to take out sigvald and take his dark fortress and get that sweet +10% phys res defeat trait, then make your way back west to vassalize the dark elves

    After like 6 tries I finally beat a and imrik campaign in TW2. I got lucky that grimgore didn't know I existed until I wiped out ikit claw and malus. Then I spent the entire game fighting grimgore in a push pull, he had conquered well up into the empire at that point , has exterminated all the dwarves, and was pumping out armies almost faster than I could wipe them. When I finally took him out all the "good" races were so happy with me I was getting a military alliance each turn. That was my last victory condition. It was a slog but I'm glad I finally got it

    Imrik's campaign was pretty interesting when I did a playthrough. Though I essentially found myself relocating into the Dragon Isles and having to abandon the Fortress of Vorag because I got double teamed by Rictus and Mors. After the relocation, the campaign did become a lot easier as I was able to establish an alliance with Cathay and Greasus, and then concentrate on returning west.

    • @travisspicer5514
      @travisspicer5514 Рік тому +5

      FIrst play through, I tried to hold fortress of vorag and killing rictus was easy but then you have greenskins and skaven coming in from everywhere with no money to field the number of armies you need when you have such spread out settlements. While I could survive I couldn't expand because I had to be so careful with the Skaven to not get ambushed and they could use the underway to jump all around and go for my cities easily. tried again and just relocated to dragon isles and yeah so much easier

    • @iamdopeasfcuk
      @iamdopeasfcuk Рік тому +1

      i'm surprised legend didn't mention just bee lining it for dragon isles since that area is so much more defensible and kugath is easy to take out early game when he's still consolidating his province.

One blessing is is that ishin is no longer around with that annoying bog to the east that you had to move through is gone, but now you have chorfs to your NE. Its nice that Cathay is close by to trade with but getting pincered by orcs, ogres, skaven and chorfs and nurgle is pain

  • @kapitankapital6580

    A big advantage Imrik has, especially if you fuck up early-game, is the geography. Once you get your starting position secured, you're boxed in by mountains which force your enemies to come through choke points, and it normally takes at least two to three turns for them to actually reach your settlements too. I lost my main army to an ambush from Tretch, and had that annoying thing where the AI smells blood and every fucking faction around you declares war, which would kill some other campaigns but because of the mountains I was able to fight a guerrilla campaign against numerous superior enemies with Alith Anar (who I got through the recruit defeated legendary lords mod). Made for quite a fun and narratively interesting campaign.

    Imrik starts right next to Nagashizzar, which is Tier 5. Once he's on his dragon and with a few items and dragon quests complete he can conquer it around turn 25-30. Giving you a tier 4 settlement early in the game. If you can cheese the Nagashizzar battle with saved lords, you can possibly take it around turn 5, but I haven't done that on a recent patch.

    Can you still cheese the dragon encounters like in WH3?
    Imrik was hands down the strongest HE faction in WH2 if you did that. Getting 45% phys res, massive armour piercing bonuses, speed, fire res, perfect vigour and so on for ALL units for basically hundreds of thousands of turns is unpararelled in WHII.
    It enabled doomstacking basically all units, even spearmen. Dragonkights and Phoenix Guard reached ~85% phys res if I recall correctly. You just needed to collect the lesser moondragon as well.

      I confederate them and then sell the cities to Tyrion if I can't hold them. Until I decide that I can't hold them then they are just money for me and more than you would get from having a trade agreement with caledor. Just make sure you get a dragon encounter before the finishing that mission and take the influence so you are welcome at court and you can get trade agreements with all the High elves around you. If you are strong enough dreadfleet won't bother you and that has been the main concern in ulthuan when I play.

Individual rat stacks aren't that hard, but they're all over, they ambush, they underway stance off, they march stance out of range.

    This campaign CAN go terribly wrong. In mine, all the dwarves were annihilated pretty early on by Crooked Moon, Wurzag and Azhaz. I was sandwitched between 4 whaagh factions (grimgor as well) who all declared war on me each one with about 10 settlements, Archaon to the north, and Goldtooth and Nurgle to the east. I had to make an alliance with Neferata's vampires to whom I gifted all the northern regions I took from Grimgor because I couldn't hold them because of Archaon and in order to make a buffer state that gives attrition. I also had to ally temporarily with that Roses Vampire Faction until he also turned on me. It was the most hectic campaign of my 1000 hours I've played this game.

    Streamers always recommending hard, very hard, or legendary difficulty campaigns which is fine to each it’s own but I play on normal & is curious to why people insist you crank the difficulty up…never understood that, like normal is more than enough for me lol

    • @Numaron93
      @Numaron93 Рік тому +3

      On normal you get cheats, which makes it super duper easy. You can auto resolve nearly every battle. You will also not really get better at the game, because many things that work in normal will get you fucked in higher difficulty.
      If you just want to crush some shit it is nice, but if you are looking for more meaningfull descissions, you need to use higher difficulty.
      Oh and ultra unitscale, if your pc can handle it. For me that feels like a different (better) game.

      @@Numaron93 Normal is normal. You don't get any cheats. You get cheats on easy, while on hard and up the AI gets cheats. Also, the autoreslove cheats depend on battle difficulty, while I believe that Legend and Kiing Tutt speak about campaign difficulty.

      Harder in settings doesn't mean harder in game. More fights equal more income, so you get stronger quicker in higher difficulties.
      Fighting weak armies doesn't net you nearly as much gold either.
      Plus it's easier to find out what you should be doing with each faction. You will pay for your mistakes.
      In easier difficulty, a victory will make you feel like you made the right decisions but you probably were just lucky to get away with questionable choices.
      Also high threat factions should remain a threat. It's warhammer fantasy, not world of warcraft... No shame in losing vs a strong opponent, just try another strategy and find out what works best.

      a lot of total war viewers have been playing total war since rome total war in 2004 or medieval 2 in 2006. after playing for almost two decades, a lot of these same players have become really skilled at total war formula games. higher difficulties then become preferable, otherwise the game might become too easy or stale. still, i think people should play on any difficulty they want, i think streamers are just speaking to these total war veterans in their videos.

    Imrik's campaign is a hard start but if you can get passed that first 20 turns, it becomes a steam roll. Pushing west will cause the Skaven to come at you early, so don't do that unless you're good at the game hah.

    What's up with clan carrion to the south, they seem to never leave their capital, is it intended or a bug? Now it is best to just ignore them completely, they are cooked up there and create multiple armies, doing a rat hive with which you really cannot do much without extreme losses.
