- A quick little crossover animation for Death Stranding and Half-Life: Alyx. I mostly made this to learn how Source 2 Hammer and Filmmaker work. I felt inspired after playing the recent Death Stranding PC release. =P
"How did you get Source 2 Filmmaker?"
It comes with Half-Life: Alyx, along with other workshop tools, like the new map-editor, Hammer 2. You can also get it with DOTA 2 for free.
The tunnel map was made in Hammer 2, then embellished with props, details and lighting in Source 2 Filmmaker. Characters were animated with a bit of Kinect mocap and a ton of manual-cleanup. It took 4 days to make.
Things are a little slow while I transition to the new tools and deal with technical hurdles, but Source 2 is a treat to work with and is very promising!

The fact that his "bodyguards" are reanimated combine corpses is just a bit more terrifying.
Also he does not need bodyguards because that look at the end would make anyone run.
Agree. Group of "undead" combines guarding GMan.. I'm a bit scared of the "thing" they are protecting him from..
@@topcomp1066 Sometimes the bodyguards are there to protect the person they are guarding.
Other times, they are there to protect anyone thinking of attacking him by discouraging the attack.

Would be kinda cool tho if Valve take the idea of reanimated combine, because if the Combine fails to defeat Gordon, then G-Man has to fight him with his own army of reanimated beings

This is what they call a "strand type animation".
This looks like it could actually be from valve. Exept for one thing, there's a 3 in the Video.

The problem is : they worked on Half Life 3 a few years ago. That means that they know the number 3
I'm afraid we past that barrier once they released the third gameplay video on UA-cam just before release... Valve tradition is gone and we can never have it back

Missed opportunity. A soda can should have slowly drifted towards them instead of the toy baby of Death Stranding. You know, a call back to "Pick up that can"

Looks great! The lighting is incredibly atmospheric. There's so much potential with S2FM to create some stunning animations, Valve really managed to deliver on a worthy successor to the original SFM (though the original created with SFM screen will be missed).
It's exciting to see how capable S2FM already is. I can't wait to get my hands on it in case it ever comes out as a standalone software like SFM. It's a shame SFM never came out from Beta, however.

Harry knows how to go from good corny humor to badass in a split second. This looked GOREGOUS, job well done.
The setting reminds me of the tunnel you go through before entering the citadel, when dog lifts up the huge claws to let you trough

Oh I absolutely loved that! Your animations are always the best
The ambient sound effects from Half-Life 2 at the end is the icing on cake (and it's a good looking cake too). Kelly Bailey's sound design was realistic yet musical in a way, making them really pleasing to the ear. Bailey's original sounds and music were the only things in HL:A that I don't think Mike Morasky and the CS:GO sound design team could replicate.
Excellent sound design + Excellent graphics and animation = 10 out of 10 -IGN

Wow, that model of G-Man is incredible! Such high quality. Fantastic animation, Harry. I find it incredible that you can impress even with such a short animation, especially knowing that this was made to learn Source 2 Film Maker.

Aech Dee || at minimum it’s gotta be near Hollywood grade face tracking hard and software. Either that or literally hundreds of hours of experience and at least a dozen hours per second of animation or something.

I've never played Death Stranding but I've seen a 11 hour video front-to-back of all the dialogue and cutscenes. I must say, this is recreated terrifyingly well.
This brought a huuuuge smile to my face, nicely done!

I got to admit that the way the Gman seen with reanimated Combine corpses was very clever.
The animation quality is next level, especially the slight grin Gman does at the end.
