    People always joke about Peach not knowing whether or not she would be Bowser Jr.'s mother, but everyone forgets that in the Mario universe, babies are canonically brought by the stork.
    My headcanon is that Kamek blackmailed the stork into bringing Bowser a son, being worried about the future of the royal Koopa line. Or maybe it was Bowser himself.
    But I could really see Kamek be like "Your horridness, I truly believe you should think about starting a family some time soon..."
    "Oh, don't worry, Kamek. I'm sure my sweet Peach will marry me any day now!"
    "Riiight... of course, if you say so..."
    And then he mutters to himself that he'd better take things into his own hands.

      some people theorize that bowser jr is just bowser as a child bc of partners in time. there is an obscure character named clawdia koopa that was implied to be bowsers love interest. the stork thing i think is only for those with "star power" like dk, wario, peach, etc. it was some weird thing mentioned in the mario party games and yoshis island 2. not sure

    I never knew that Pinna Park was planned to be part of the hub world, now I'm theorizing that the pianta-shaped tree was going to be the warp for Pianta Village, and the big shell in the pool was meant for Noki Bay? The warp points correlate pretty well thematically, and the actual locations warp locations in game for those levels feel somewhat out of place compared to the rest. Both of these stages are unlocked late in the game, which would still be the case if they were accessed through Pinna Park. Pianta Village and Noki Bay were always my favorite levels, learning of the ancestral homes of both the land-dwelling piantas and the sea-dwelling noki is really the perfect finishing touch on the world building, and with some of the most fun missions too.

    That "incorrect buzzer" and Yoshi sound also plays if you give a Yoshi egg the wrong fruit. What's funny is that if you just sit the wrong type of fruit next to the Yoshi egg, the sound keeps on constantly playing on loop, and won't go away or become quieter even if Mario is across the map, until you remove the fruit or it despawns

    • @thinkingfubuki

    it's so interesting that you mention the game design of those blue coins under the baskets being present on every mission, because it challenges you to figure out which mission you can obtain them in. that's genuinely clever and I really love it!
    but clearly not everyone was on the same page, because countless other blue coins are unnecessarily locked to specific shines for no reason. so rather than clever puzzle solving in wondering if the purple bullet bills might be able to free the coins, the "puzzle" is reduced to just. looking around on every individual shine until you find coins that weren't there in other instances of the level
    that all said I absolutely loved this video! I played sunshine originally when I was old enough to play video games but still too young to be good at them so I actually didn't make it very far into the game - my favourite part was exploring every level inside and out, finding random fun in whatever I could find, and because of that pinna park was always my absolute favourite. being able to get on the different rides and enjoy all the music was an absolute dream

    so I wanted to point some stuff out. The brown poluted piranha plant at delfino plaza that blocks the way to bianco hills has the shape of Petey, you can even see an X marking his bellybutton. The one blocking Ricco Harbor is in the shape of the blooper tentacle sticking out of the boxes and the one in Gelato Beach has the shape of a flower, probably wiggler's flower.
    Just some more little facts I thought might be interesting, Petey doesn't spawn small piranha plants, but these are there already, but only come out if the surface has the goop on them, if you kill them they won't respawn. The Plurps when sprayed will start falling down to the ground and die if they touch the ground, if you manage to spray them enough times though they'll drop a 1 up, they also look more worried as they are getting low. Finally the strollin stu graffiti is used again in the chuckster level

    Once again some cool observations and ideas I haven't seen before! Other things I've learned that I find interesting:
    -During the cutscene where Shadow Mario is floating over the water, you can see a different carousel design in his reflection. You can also see that the ferris wheel is red in this cutscene. The red ferris wheel can also be seen in the intro cutscene and the final cutscene.
    -In the Mech Bowser fight, the water below the pirate ships is replaced with a solid blue reflective surface.
    -In the Bowser Jr. cutscene, it highlights an E. Gadd logo on FLUDD that isn't there during gameplay.
    -In Pinna 4, the sunflowers don't point towards the sun. However, they ARE pointing east, which immature sunflowers do.
    -You can control Yoshi's head with Mario Cam if you jump off of him while his tongue's out. Also you can spray NPCs with Yoshi while talking to them. Also Yoshi's tongue gets shorter the closer you get the the wicker baskets. Also if you ground pound while Yoshi is spitting, Mario won't spin with him. Also you can jump off Yoshi while his tongue grabbed a fruit to not only store it but also cause the fruit to float, which is funny. This is one weird horse...
    -There IS something of note in Pinna 7! If you look at Shadow Mario before entering the park, you can just barely see he's standing on a block because the floor in there is intangible.

  • @waxy1885
    @waxy1885 4 місяці тому +22

    10:20 that's simple : Junior was disguised as Shadow Mario when he has seen the old man. E Gadd thought it was Mario.

    • @2CPhoenix
      @2CPhoenix  4 місяці тому +18

      If that were the case, that would mean his ability to morph into shadow mario is inherent to Bowser Jr, and not an ability granted to him by the paint brush. Or perhaps that the bandana is another magical item entirely unrelated to the paint brush despite appearing to have been drawn on by a child. I don’t personally find either of those to be more likely

    • @ShyGuyXXL
      @ShyGuyXXL 4 місяці тому +5

      @@2CPhoenixMy headcanon is that Kamek made that magic bandana for BJ.

    • @ShyGuyXXL
      @ShyGuyXXL 4 місяці тому +5

  • @devonm042690
    @devonm042690 4 місяці тому +4

    E Gadd inventing both the magic brush and FLUDD, giving the former to Bowser Jr and leaving the latter to be found by Mario, sounds a lot like an arms dealer arming both sides of a conflict. Except arms dealers get paid, and E Gadd is just giving his inventions away. Are they all prototypes and he just hands them out to whoever will take them in order to test them? Or does E Gadd just like chaos? It's certainly not unfathomable to think of him as a mad scientist.

  • @RipVanFish09
    @RipVanFish09 4 місяці тому +8

    7:00 I can give some tips, at least for the GameCube version, with it's analogue triggers. Have you ever had a rocket go on a higher trajectory than you thought it would? That's because when you start holding down R, FLUDD's nozzle twitches a bit. That little twitch that should REALLY be just an animation, actually affects the direction that the rocket fires. There is a way to not have this happen though. Simply hold down R partially, for like half a second, and then press it in all the way.
    Also, those strolin' stu generators painted on the walls, actually do show up in another spot. In the secret of the village underside *sudders* 2 of them can be found in a small boxed-in area half way through the level. It gets spammy pretty fast

So they're basically cute and goofy goombas! (Sorry to anyone who actually knows Japanese as I may have butchered this explanation but I believe this is relatively correct...)

    If you're using a GameCube controller to shoot Pinna Park's roller coaster bottle roxkets, you can actually pull the trigger all the way down before it clicks, and then shoot when you need to instead of pressing the trigger from its highest point down to its lowest every time you need to fire a rocket. The trigger's deep enough that the travel time from neutral position to fully pressed can impact your accuracy with the rockets. It also helps to be playing with a wired controller on GameCube through a CRT television to mitigate any kind of input lag. If you're playing on an LCD display, and with wireless controllers through the All-Stars collection, that's likely why you're having trouble. Unfortunately, it's just one if those precise timing challenges that's gotten harder with age since the hardware the game was made for is somewhat uncommon these days.

    If the Snoozakoopas are meant to be natural predators who hunt Yoshis by disguising as their eggs, and there are no Yoshis left in their habitat, it's possible their strategy was so effective that they drove this Delfino subspecies to extinction.

    I'm from Italy and I always heard the sunflowers say "Oh, bel sole! de" which roughly translates to "Oh, what a nice sun!" followed by the dialect equivalent of "yo" or similar.
    Given the already heavy italian inspirations in this game I would consider this at least plausible!
    (also love your videos ❤❤❤)

    I wonder if the japanese text refers to the Pinna Park cannon as an "exhaust port," solely because it's really funny imagining Delfino Plaza having a cannon around in case of naval invasion.
    Daisy Cruiser better watch out when it comes to port on Isle Delfino.

    To aim the rockets easier, just lightly press the R button, this will prefill the rocket, then when you press the button all the way down it’s much more accurate!

    I love your suggestion of the secret levels being Bowser Jr's creations. He did say he could do anything with his brush, so who's to say he didn't just paint them up?

    Awesome to see these videos! I'm a bit late on this one, because I seriously waited until the Gelato Beach one came out first so I could view all these in their proper order (I have a bit of OCD, I know--blame me. But I respect your reasoning for doing this second, 'cause having to skip all those Yoshi sections in other levels would get pretty annoying to deal with after a while). I'm still pretty happy to have seen this, though!
    Something to note: I don't know if you noticed, but, if you look at the opening cutscenes for the beach section in episodes 3 and 5, they seem to be oddly switched, since the Ferris Wheel is shown to be spinning uncontrollably fast in 3 but as slow as it's supposed to in 5. Something I noticed even during my first playthrough, and it confused me at the time. A sign that this game truly was rushed!
    I usually did just go for the coin Shine by killing all the Swiping Stus, since there's enough of them on the beach to net you half the coins you need. And it's plenty easy enough to get the coins you need by spraying the beach. I've even gotten the 100 Shine on the beach that way before, but I usually personally prefer to gather what I need out there (usually around 80 or so) and then collect the rest in the park. I don't believe you showed the 100 Shine spawn location within the park, unless I missed it, and I'm pretty sure veteran players already know. But in case anyone doesn't and they want to, it spawns in over the Yoshi-Go-Round.
    Awesome vid again, and I'm excited to see what you come out with next!

    As a kid, Pinna Park was my favorite stage! unfortunately, our Super Mario Sunshine disc was scratched thanks to kid me, so every time I tried to get to Pinna Park, there was an 90% chance of it freezing 😔.
    Also this is the only stage I've gotten the 30 blue coins without a guide, in most others I had 1 or 3 left and since I lost my save file I would have to try again later lol

    While Mario, Fludd, and Peach know that Bowser Jr is pretending to be Mario the people of Delfino Plaza don't know that so the disguise would still work on them.

    For all the times I've played this game myself, and all the times I've watched other people play it... This is the first time I've come to find out that Mecha Bowser's boss fight has it falling apart as you attack it. I've lost track of how many times I've fought it just replaying levels, and somehow, I *never* noticed this. In hindsight I have no idea how it never occurred to me that THIS was why he got "harder to hit" on the second and third shots from the spot that worked prior (where I'd usually aim at the head) and I felt like I was just too high up - but it's super cool to finally know!

    An interesting theory I've heard regarding the Sunshine Redesigns of classic enemies is that they're the result of Jr. creating them w his brush, based on some combination of inaccurately portraying and intentionally redesigning Goombas as Stus, zanier koopas, et al. I think it makes the world seem a bit smaller to imply that these weirdos don't naturally exist in it a la Alolan Pokémon Variants, but it's still fun in its own right I think.
