    I received my 1/24th scale Revell Jaguar E-Type kit 2 weeks ago. I live in Texas. A Facebook friend told me that he received his kit from Ebay with free shipping to the USA. I was hooked and ordered mine straight away.. Like the full-sized Jaguars, my kit was shipped from Great Britain. Seems rather appropriate! I am very impressed with the level of detail included and overall quality Revell has provided. I was delighted to find your excellent series of videos on building this fine kit. I appreciate your honest appraisal of the kit's problem areas and your helpful building tips. You did a very nice job on your build! I agree that the simulated wire wheels aren't bad once they receive a wash to provide depth and contrast. I have ordered hand laced wire wheels from Fernando Pinto in Portugal for 2 of my recent builds. I like the way his wire wheels compliment my sports car models. I am waiting on some 3D printed resin wire wheels in 1/24th scale. I intend to compare the kit wheels to hand laced wire spoke wheels and the 3D printed ones. I must admit that both the aftermarket wheels mentioned above cost more than the kit. You have built a very nice looking E-Type from the kit without aftermarket upgrade components. I salute you and have just subscribed to your channel. Thanks for sharing your build experience!

      Thank you for your kind words, Stephen. It's a great kit and I'm glad you are building one yourself. I had looked at those hand made wire wheels for the Alfa Romeo I just made and they do look amazing - I'm glad with how the kit ones turned out though.
      Thanks for subscribing and watching too! I hope to build the roadster some time too!

    Well done on 1k subs Thomas, won't be long until 5k. As you have very kindly been test pilot on this kit I decided to start mine. Spent 3 days preparing the body for primer so its going to be a while yet!

    • @BOABModels
      @BOABModels  3 роки тому

      Thanks a lot Worden. I think spending time on the body is worth it - I noticed a couple of tiny sink marks on mine when I was well into polishing it so nothing I could do about it then!
      I think I'd like to get the convertible too but I'm not sure I'll be building another Jag straight away.
      5k seems a long way away! 😂 But I appreciate the support!

    Congratulations with 1000 subs Thomas. E-type looks very nice, wire wheels look superb .I can't look in your wallet (haha) and I don't want to push you but If I liked the E-type I would still build the Heller as well. It would be nice to see them side by side and compare. I'm sure the Revell is the better kit but maybe you find something that's easyer or better on the Heller. Now something totally different: as you are a Jaguar fan I looked it up for you Burago has also some nice Jaguar's 1:18 E-type Coupé, E-type Convertible, Mark II (1959), in 1:24 XK-120 (1951) and more recent XKR-S and in 1:43 F-type R. They're basically snap-together kits with a diecast body, so easy to pull apart and improve details and/or change the body colour. If you compare the 1:24 diecast is cheaper and will last a lot longer than a 1:24 plastic kit. Take your time and think about it. It would bring a whole new dimension to your channel. There are a lot of UA-camrs that do something like this with small cars like Matchbox, HotWheels, CorgiToys and DinkyToys. But nobody does the bigger scales.
    BTW nice to put in the wedding pictures, thanks.

    • @BOABModels
      @BOABModels  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you very much Ed. Yeah, I may do something like that - Jaguar is my favourite brand (my uncle works for them) and they have appeared on the channel a few times. I have the Heller 1/43 XJR9 to build which I can compare to the Hasegawa 1/24 some time.
      Diecast does interest me and I'd love to make an F-type. I have a very old Dinky toy Lotus 25 (probably 1/64) which I have thought about restoring some time. I think I just need some spares first.
      Thanks again!

    • @edak482
      @edak482 3 роки тому +1

      @@BOABModelsYes the Jaguar F-type is a very nice car. I think Welly has a type F jaguar in 1:24. And it's not just Burago, they're also nice cars from Welly, MotorMax, Maisto and Jada in 1:24 and 1:18. These cars are very good value for money and I'm sure if you put that on your channel, you will hit 2000+ subs in no time.

    Is the bonnet just a little bit too wide to fit the body perfectly?

    • @BOABModels
      @BOABModels  3 роки тому +2

      Well it fit fine when I was testing it at the start and painting it. It may be that something in the engine bay is sticking out a bit.

    Congratulations on the 1,000 subscribers, well deserved.
    I think the upright parts of the bumpers are called over riders, not sure though.
    The poor woman having to get into the Jaguar in a wedding dress, obviously a man chose the car :) joking
    The model turned out really well, camera and lights will always show any marks or imperfections, don't let it concern you, if you're pleased with it then it's a winner :)

      Thanks a lot, Sarah Jane.
      Overriders sounds familiar!
      Haha - it wasn't that practical I suppose but it was lovely. Especially as we had the weather to drop the roof.
      Thank you, I am pleased with the model. I think it will help me though if I brighten up my building space too.

  • @georgeclements2742

    I think that you did a good job on the paintwork considering that you used an aerosol. They are o.k. for full size cars, but problematic at 1/24 scale. The main trouble is that you have no control over the paint viscosity. In my limited experience, the only way I could get a good flat finish was with multiple coats and lots of cutting back, and that's not good on a scale model because you lose the definition of the panel lines.
    I'm new to your channel, but have subscribed and look forward to catching up on your other projects.

    • @BOABModels
      @BOABModels  2 роки тому

      Thanks George. I'd like to get an airbrush in the future, but first I'd need a permanent place to use it (my wife doesn't want me spraying in the kitchen where I currently work )
      It's certainly a challenge on a model like this as you can't wet sand easily on those vents without burning through.
