As George in this clip would say, no smoke, no lights, no amplifier. No big stage productions, just me and my guitar. You'd think anybody would buy that. And Grandma Ivy blurt out, "I would!" And I thought "so would I!"
Nope...no country king like george..mim.mixed Mexican American but my country love and like the guys I've worked with always say im more white than they are or the browniest country guy
No one will ever sing this song the way George does. No song will ever equal this one. It is sad, but wonderful. Please don't look away, it is hard enough to say. I miss my Billy that passed 3 years ago, every day that comes, and will forever be lonely. I think of him every minute of every day that passes. Far away and clear, you can hear my teardrops, even in Heaven, Billy. Chris - Atlanta
His name will go down in history ! With entertainers like Elvis , Johnny Cash. , and many others ! George Strait has entertained until all and given us a a brake from our day to day problems and term oils. Thank you George Strait !
As a man this was one of 3 movies in my 54 years that made me cry and said to say i have been in that exact situation once in my life. Not so much the pregnancy part but pretty much everything else. Facts cannot make somebody fall in love with you. Probably might be one of the reasons why I'm still single and I'm so brutal nowadays. Be surprised after that long lasting effect. Something like that has on you
Like many of you, George is my fave of all time. I've heard every song he's ever released, every vinyl, cassette and cd, and this is my favorite song. A song never on the radio, so it was never even on the charts, yet for me it's my #1 song.
When Nashville fell in love with pop and then rock, George was pure country to the marrow. He’s not a troubadour, George Strait is THE Troubadour. Hats off to the greatest.
I still go to my grandparents grave in texas and play this as well as play it for my little brother who died way to young never married or had children
Saw this movie in '93 and became obsessed with it. This was the movie that got me in the country and the soundtrack was my first CD ever. Know all the words to all the songs and can quote the whole movie. This scene hits harder even now with this song with my folks being gone 11 and 4 years. Got to get back to them roots but there's nothing to go back to fortunately. Time to lay down some new roots.
The day before my husband and I put our precious fur baby boy to sleep, I held Zeus in my lap during this movie and when the scene played this song, I lost it. I knew how the outcome of the next day was going to play out, but I didn't want to let him suffer through cancer any longer. We miss him every day, but every time I watch this movie, I think of our sweet Zeus. This movie was our last bonding moment. Keep flying high, Zeus. ❤️🐾🐕🦴 Thank you for giving us this soundtrack and movie, King of Country! It's always a thrill to see you perform onstage. Your voice is undoubtedly one of a kind and there will never be another like you. ❤️❤️❤️
I love this song , his family is first and he loves them very much . Only He can sing this , no one will ever be to as he does . Perfection ! There will never be another George Strait ! ❤😊❤
Merle has always been my all time number 1 but George is right there with him. That said, I have always felt this was an underrated song and one of my favorites
George's music usually has such strong instrumentation-fiddle and steel that I think sometimes you don't really notice how good his voice really is. But I think this song has a little more suttle instrumentation and really captivates and utilizes that voice.
George is the best in his music playing an guitar he loves his songwriting and also likes history and some of his cowboy songs tells a story his band is excellent every time
This is one of the best songs he ever did!! Pure Country is one of my all time favorite movies... This song has always touched my heart but it truly means more since one of my favorite cousin passed away... Miss him so very much!!! 💙💙
A wonderful way to let his family show how much he truly loves them and his fans enjoy it to and his guitar playing is so good also his band plays so great
I really love this movie of George Strait Pure Country I love all his songs in this movie my 3 favorite songs r When Did You Stop Loving Me Last In Love I Cross My Heart
This is probably one of my favorite songs and one of my favorite scenes in a movie ever. Last in Love was written by Glenn Frey and J.D. Souther in 1978.
+bombshell42701 Did you notice his actual Dove guitar? Or his roping belt buckle earned in real life? My favorite part/song of this movie. Also, if you have watched the movie and know the music, you have noticed that nearly every song int he movie is a unique cut, different than those released. I love the orchestration at the end of this scene; one reason it is my favorite.
George strait I dedicate this song for my parents both died when I was was only 3 years old when my mother died then my father died 2 months before my 24th birthday now I'm 48 years old and I'm living in south Africa with my fiance goodbye goodluck farewell George strait I love listening to your songs really amazing singer George strait
Funny, I remember when I watched this movie, I went out and bought the soundtrack and when I heard this song, I said to myself, "this sure sounds like a song the Eagles would sing"...after doing some reading I saw it was written by J.D. Souther and Glenn Frey....awesome song
I find this scene very interesting. The bartender is star struck, but Dusty(the famous guy) is looking at a picture from his past and wishing he was just like everybody else. The song is perfect for the scene also.
yeah you're rite for what you're saying mainly I think what Dusty is doing is reflecting on back when his country music was nothing but just simple sounds heard from his guitar, some say George's film character got caught up in fame but not really he just felt alone and was so tired of his shows looking like 70's or 80's rock star style extravaganzas.
your reply is interesting, cause this movie was made in the early 90s when country and rock shows were both smoke, lights, and loss of sound except george strait. a bit of a paradox.
A true Texan gets him I started following him since Amarillo by morning saw him twice in Brownwood until we had to Abilene to find him thanks Mr.Strait
Funny how music 🎼 can tell a story that can bridge the gaps of a races, creeds, and genders... This clip here ... I can say I have lived it and remember this movie in the 90s Minot North Dakota ❤️ U Melinda J.Stronzik

No cell phones, no Uber. Better times. Better music. Better movies.
Amen to that! Much better era than today. 2024.
Agree 100%
As George in this clip would say, no smoke, no lights, no amplifier. No big stage productions, just me and my guitar. You'd think anybody would buy that. And Grandma Ivy blurt out, "I would!" And I thought "so would I!"
There will never be another country singer like George .

Underrated song from an underrated scene from an underrated movie.
Facts
Amen, I agree!
I love at the end when he is looking at the picture of the three of them.
Your comment is very underrated.
@@jeffcorklin6226 I think so. Just like the bartender’s performance.
The only movie he ever made, and it is great...................
this movie this song. reminds. me of mom. she died in october2013. katherine. born1951 died oct first 2013 rip. see you on the other side
He is also in Pure Country 2 but only for a few minutes.
Actually all of y'all are incorrect. Pure Country was not his first appearance on a movie. Don't believe me buy his book and find out for yourselves
Allen Murphy Was in a movie called The Soldier in 1982, right? Sang his first ever number one Fool Hearted Memory.
It was such a clean, pure movie. Unlike the cuss ridden, killing shoot'em up, nudity in today's crappy movies that promote violence.
The bartender in this scene was starstruck. Cute.❤
I miss this kind of country music 👍
I grew up watching Pure Country. My cousin Chad got me hooked on it and glad he did. Best movie and brings back good memories
No matter what I'm going through in life George Strait seems to have a song that sums up what i'm going through or how I feel can I get an amen!
AMEN
Amen brother
Amen!!
Amen
So very true.
Emotional heartfelt song......what a voice
My mom got me hooked on GS in 1987. She's gone now but we went to see this movie together. Miss her
❤..I am sorry to hear of your mom passing...great memories for sure....

Country music is reserved for George in all my play lists. Everything he sings rings true.
When Nashville fell in love with pop and then rock, George was pure country to the marrow. He’s not a troubadour, George Strait is THE Troubadour. Hats off to the greatest.

That song reminds me of the old days back in Louisiana with my family. It always makes me cry. Great song.
Haven't commented in years, but have to say George definitely nailed this JD Sumner classic.
