In figure skating this was a 'three jump.' First jump I learnt as a child. I always loved roller skating more but where i lived it was not a thing to this day no one i know roller skates, but i always could. Im 40 now. My husband just bought me quads for my bday and i went out been practicing my crossovers and steps, just doing my figure skating i remember on wheels. im so happy. My dream even at age 40 to land single jumps. My body still remembers it all.
Awww, this is awesome! I definitely planned to learn a waltz jump but all tutorials on UA-cam are on ice skates, so I was going to try to apply some tips to the rollerskates, but I love that you did one! Thank you!
Thank you for this video! I also have flat feet, would you have recommendations on what orthotics to use in heeled skates? My regular ones in my everyday shoes don't fit well in the skates at all. Would really appreciate any tips.
So glad to find this channel!!! I used to hunt vidz on UA-cam years back for help haha! I absolutely relate when you said it feels awfully shorter without skates.... nice to know I'm not the only one who feels it's easier to balance on skates that on shoes.. Thanks for teaching these here!!
Hi! can you make tutorials on other types of jumps please :) i’m a figure skater transitioning to roller skates because rinks are closed during the lockdown (i live in the UK)! I’d like to know the rollerskate specific techniques when doing toe loops/salchow/axels and all that stuff!! Thank you so much 💕
Corona cut me off from Ice Skating and I always wanted an excuse to start roller skating - your videos have been a life saver! I was wondering though, could you do a video on Salchows? They're one of my favourites on ice, but I can't figure out how to get the momentum on roller skates.. On ice skates you're on a left inside edge and lean back into it until your toe pick hooks into the ice and then you know when to jump. I've tried that on roller skates and I just keep rolling and can't find the point to take off.. Worst case, I lean back too much and end up on my bum. Any advice?
That Nicole Fiore it’s like I start off straight then when I land my foot lands like this : / : at an angle so I end up no longer moving straight, or is that okay?
Jimzie !! It’s okay as long as you’re able to roll out of it. But It could mean that you’re not jumping as far around as you need to or you’re jumping too far around!
Jimzie !! That should totally help. Try recording yourself too. And if you want to share your progress, please join www.rollwithme.app if you haven’t 😊
Also, this seems like a silly question, but why can't you do the other jumps? I ask because I'm wondering if I should even try to learn to do them or if they require pretty extreme athleticism

I love this!!! I'm so glad you're on wheels!
I practiced it on my skates in the grass first, it’s a soft landing if your scared of falling. 😂

JonelaBeauty yay!!! totally applicable, but totally different at the same time!
I'm from Brazil, and I watch all your videos, I'm learning a lot from you. ❤
Suellen Fernandes Teixeira so happy to meet you! ❤️
i did a jump trick and sprained my pinkie lol

If you can get custom insoles, that's the best, but Dr. Scholls orthotics work well for me!
@@ThatNicoleFiore brilliant, thank you, I'll give them a try!
I like how you included all the extra focus points. Its nice to know what one can practice off skates. Good video ! Thank you !!!

love every video, Thank you for some rainy day practice...
I too feel weird(and shorter) when not in skates!
Thank you for such a helpful breakdown!
love your tutorials!
Hey, I have inline skates, can I do the same thing with them or is this only to be done on roller skates?
Thanks so much for the tutorial! I’m getting close to this level and I can’t wait to learn it!

Hi, yes!! We will be getting into more jumps/specifics in my online classes on my website! :)
This is gonna help so much I accidentally got myself into a pageant :D
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Great video, can you make one with other jumps and Axel off skates?
iceflip Thank you! sure can, working on it 😊

Thanks for the tutorial! I'll definitely give it a try :)
Is this the same technique as like.. half a single axel? A single axel but 0.5 turns instead of 1.5?

i want one:(
Can you teach a single axel jump?
Tony Johnson yea, getting to that hopefully in a few weeks 😊
@@ThatNicoleFiore :)
Back when this was the coolest thing you could do. Sigh.. back in the day...
Hey Nicole, so I always thought a waltz jump was only a half turn. Question, does a waltz jump turn into an axel if you do a double waltz?
I think it has to be a one and a half rotation in air
How can we add more rotation to make one turn instead of a half?
What happens if our foot we land on isn’t landing straight but kinda at an angle, what can I do to stop that from happening? ❤️😊
is it landing on an edge with all four wheels down?

OT question for you. What wheels do you recommend for an artistic skater to use to practice outdoors during the pandemic?
FreetheTongue any old wheel you don’t mind messing up is good! But i like sure grip fame wheels outside, pandemic or not haha
@@ThatNicoleFiore haha I don't usually practice outdoors. The pandemic is forcing me to get out there. #silverlining ?
FreetheTongue totally!! Any flat(ish) surface will do, indoor or outdoor 😊 Let me know how it goes!
Also, this seems like a silly question, but why can't you do the other jumps? I ask because I'm wondering if I should even try to learn to do them or if they require pretty extreme athleticism
Can I do this on roller blades too?
emily MMD totally!!
@@ThatNicoleFiore using the same technique? Or do I have to learn it differently?
I think you're lucky! Short girls r adorable! I used 2 pray 4 God 2 keep me 5' tall when I was a kid. It didn't happen, I ended up 5'8" 😝
Very succinct. Thanks, Nicole.
01:40 please don't get coroner virus :(
