Girl I randomly saw your 101 video on my yt main page, and that one single video made me go down the rollerskating rabbit hole. I also saw your short where you said, that you wanted to get as many people as you can on skates this summer. I wanna tell you, that you alone managed to get this random girl from Poland to roller skate. Thank you Dasia !!!!
Dude, everything you said about skating being weight transfer INSTANTLY cured all the shakes I had, I could barely stand in skates but I heard "all moving, it's just weight transfer" and it clicked
My first pair of skates came yesterday and while its scary, Im so glad I tried. Your first video made me want to skate and improve, thank you for your videos!!
I’m soon to be 60 years young and decided to purchase skates. 😊I have been wanting to learn how to rollerskate for a long time. Thanks for your videos. I will practice in my basement and will also take classes at my local rink. Wish me luck as my husband is not thrill about my idea.
You got this girl!!! I just started because of dasia as well. I've been skating inside my basement and slowly transitioning outside! I hope your husband can find something that bring him just as much joy❤
Heey, that's Wonderful, Hun. I'm 40+ & starting out. I've been Striving 2 find quiet areas outside cuz I TOO don't want any witnesses as I try 2 skate, LOLL. So, I Support U & HOPE we can keep it going. Good Luck❤
Girl I’ve got to tell you that I love this tutorial. It’s simple and you don’t leave us hanging. I only can do one transition and it’s not very smooth so this helped SO MUCH!
I'm 40+ and I can't skate backwards or do any tricks(yet). I have trouble with how my feet go when I'm trying to go backwards. It feels so strange but I'm determined to learn. I have been skating on and off since I was a kid, only at local rinks. I just purchased mine and my 9-year-old son's first pair of skates 🛼, got them today and have been watching your videos. I saw you on YT a while ago and your page was the first to pop up. I'm grateful bc you are very thorough and I love how you teach. It's like a friend is teaching me. Thank you!! ❤
I wanted to learn to skate since childhood, but I was always afraid, as I am so bad at anything that requires coordinated movement 😅 these video have me convinced that I should try anyway!
I’m dusting off my skates and the most nerve wracking part is transitions for me. And I got it down pat in the span of this video. Love the energy and the outfit - a new subscriber 🫶🏾 Thank you UA-cam algorithm
Oh my gosh, you are so awesome! The shoulder focus just made all the difference here. I feel a lot more in control when I'm turning now. Thank you so much for your tips and for saving the caterpillar.
I've been watching your videos for a few days now. I got myself some skates last summer but never got on them. I'm so excited for spring so I can really plan to go places to skate now ❤
@@DasiaDoesIt you've got no clue how much I needed that encouragement. I got out yesterday and got to skate for about an hour practicing before I fell hard and hit my tailbone 😅 few days of rest for me before I do that again 😂 it was so much fun though

I listened to every word you said and i followed what you were doing, eventually I learned how to skate at home!! my mom put me in skate class and I was already in advanced!! thanks for making me so good at skating ❤❤❤

Finally found a video that teaches me how to transition, honestly I tried doing a half moon to transition, but I gave up, thx for showing me how to transition in a different way
@@DasiaDoesIt I still only do it at the local basketball court and a super wide trail near me, needs more practice before I would feel comfortable applying it in more practical ways
I was randomly roller skating one day and just decided “hey! Let’s try to turn around!” Of course that didn’t work and I ended up falling. But ever since that day I’ve been working on skating backwards. It randomly came to me one day, “am I even doing this right?” This video was a helping guide for me to see if I taught myself right. Turns out I have been! Thank you so much for this. I’ll be referring back to this video when some random kid in the skating rink asks me to teach them how to turn. ❤
Just want you to know that. i saw your video earlier this year. you made it so easy that i finally bought my own skates! i'll receive them in 3 days. Thank you so much for teaching us. love from Malaysia
I also struggle to transition on my left foot 😂 I really need to practice that side. Your tutorials are really great! My problem was i was throwing my hips around to transition instead of using my shoulders and it was very hard to control ❤ thank you for your service!
I actually longboard around or what have you, going to rolling thunder after not roller skating for years so this will be a awesome experience, thank you for being the best internet teacher I’ve watched 🔥🔥🔥
I appreciate you so much!! I’ve been practicing in my basement and your videos are a life saver. Hoping to skate like a pro outside come spring time :)
I'm on my school's roller derby team and I haven't been cleared for the contact training yet because I cannot transition but the shoulders might be where I'm gong wrong (also I think I needed more hip flexibility and I can say I've mad progress). I think for derby they have you do the open-book transition but you pick up your feet to do it. Gonna do some sock practice and see what my shoulders do, been looking down to make sure my feet turn all the way.
Update: the shoulder thing was life-changing! I still struggle but that's an anxiety thing. The more seasoned derby teammates tell me I open up all the way for transitions but I get scared and close up just enough for it to not work. Making progress though!
Hey Dasia! your rollerskating 101 video convinced me to buy skates. Ive gone ice skating a few times in my life and have always enjoyed it. I kind of forgot roller skating exists and my hopes are I will have an easier time with it since Ive ice skated before. Either way Im so excited to make this a new hobby of mine and you have gotten one more person to start skating!!! I got the Beach Bunnies from Moxi and Im so excited to begin my skating journey❤ thankyou
Thanks! I’m practicing on carpet because last time I skating on a smooth floor I fell and quit 😂 I’m determined now and this seems like a lot more fun than when I tried skateboarding (i know it takes practice but it just wasn’t for me, I like controlling my body not an item). Thanks so much for these tips because I’m having a lot of fun sliding around my bedroom on these things :D
I have the skating part down (ice hockey player/coach for decades) but am enjoying the scenery anyway. Wish I had an open air ice rink that size at my disposal ... but sadly Texas is too hot. Lucky girl :)
WOW DASIA....THANKS! I use to skate so good....decades ago, then stopped for decades. Wish I shouldn't have. Now too old & too fat. Still you are Great, Thanks❤
any chance you can explain more what the pressure is exactly? because i understand a book and how it opens and closes but i don't understand what the feet are doing - the whole movement is on BOTH INNER EDGES?. thanks for your videos. THEY ARE very good. This one I can not understand to open close book
Hi Dasia your videos are absolutely fascinating. So much so that I now want to learn to skate at my ripe age of 59. Do u think it's possible??? I would like private lessons, I'm in Los Angeles California. Any suggestions please😅
I am still very much a beginner. I use to roller blades but recently got some skates. I'm having trouble figuring out how to turn my skates. I feel like they only go straight. I've been experimenting with shifting my weight and it's been helping but when I try to follow your instructions I can't seem to turn quick enough to do the transition, it just turns me around into a 180 and my skates keep rolling forward so I'm not actually transitioning to backwards skating I'm just turning around lol. Do you have any suggestions?
It doesn’t have to be straight, it’ll have a little curve to it. But if you’re struggling opening your feet it’s more likely that your hips are a little tight. You can do stretches that will help loosen your hips and that should help you open your feet and you’ll be able to do it in no time!
I recently started learning how to skate at 27 haha 😂 bit late but nevermind 😂, these look brilliant I still got to practice 101 first because my balance is awful 😂 xxx
It's embarrassing that I'm learning this in my room with a tiny space cause we have a bumpy road outside.. yeah i learned how to skate in my room only.
Nothing wrong with that! You might try finding a park to practice at, if you find a tennis or basketball court that's empty they usually have pretty smooth surfaces that are great for practicing on
When I do the open book FtB, are my toes supposed to be coming up on the side I'm turning? For instance- when I'm rolling forward with the intention to open up to the right, with my right foot, my toes come up slightly to make my foot turn.. and my back toes come up and turn as well. Is this correct?
Heya! Does it get you transitioned ? If it does rock with! That’s how your own style starts to develop. How are your trucks? Have you had the chance to loosen them just a bit?
@DasiaDoesIt thanks so much for responding! It does, so I'm rolling with it! I did practice a bunch today so I'm starting to feel the difference in the two moves, it's coming together heheh. My skates are new so I *think* my trucks are ok, I loosened them a little the first time I used them, but not to the point where the wheel was clacking around/making noise.
