    Also, once you have all your programs installed and desktop customized to your liking, create a FULL SYSTEM DISK IMAGE BACKUP. I can't stress enough how important this is! Then, if your computer gets a virus or messed up, you can restore back to this point. It will save you the hell of reinstalling the OS and having to reinstall your programs. If you do ever need to restore, be sure to run updates on everything.

    Now I have a question. How much energy can the power saving mode really save? I'm relating to the environment. I think that this depends more of the hardware actually. But I guess it's good to know.

      @Thormosphere Рік тому

      Did you get an answer?

    • @samitechcookie9758
      @samitechcookie9758 Рік тому +1

      @@Thormosphere nah but standby mode actually turns off almost all of the components. The only thing that is powered is the RAM (storing your OS session) and maybe the CPU for receiving a wake-up signal, depending on setting also mouse and keyboard for wake-up.
      Imo following insight is for an active use of the computer and becomes quite significant when we consider the massive amount of personal computers (clients, which don't have to run at max all the time).
      Assumably the clock speed of CPU and GPU (using special software) are the main determining factors when it comes to required power input. But it also controls standby timeout, display on time, USB save mode and other stuff.
      You could definitely go ahead and disable/close unnecessary or power hungry apps to reduce the needed processor power.
      Also, I think it helps to set your network card output limit to the next step above your internet speed to save some power.
      Power saving mode CPU clock can be overridden by BIOS settings, at least for AMD CPUs. For example you have dynamic clock speed enabled in the BIOS, then the Windows power mode setting might not have any effect.
      You have to check how your clock works on different power modes, you can test it with different min values. If it doesn't act the way you set it up to, then changing the BIOS power mode is an option. Usually tho, by default it should be set to automatic frequency change.
      GPU also eats a lot of energy when running at full power.
      Hard drives nowadays (HDD and SSD) require low amount of electrical power.
      Monitor power heavily depends on energy class and brightness.
      That being said, it's relatively easy to help the environment to recover a bit by managing our devices' electrical consumption.

    I work in IT Security and have for over 10 years. When buying a new computer (both in person and online), it helps to wipe clean the hard drive and install a fresh copy of Windows 10. Not just because of bloatware, but also other things the pervious owner put onto it.

    Im getting a new desktop setup. But thanks for the tips though. But its also best to clear cache after setup. It can make it more faster because the setup bloats the system a bit when it comes to performance like ram cpu and gpu

    Just for ur info...
    if you get a new pc the most important thing u must do is update drivers. Thats pretty much all you gotta do and if your using ur pc as a gaming pc put it to high performance not balanced or power save to get the most performance out of ur pc
    1. Update drivers/GPU
    2. select pc to High performance/for gaming etc...
    these u must do. nothing else matters as much.

    The thing about bitdefender is that there's an issue with it. On some devices, once you install it, it will say that it needs to restart, and once you restart, it keeps restarting over and over again. The way to fix this is to:
    1) disconnect from wifi and turn on airoplane mode (this will stop it from restarting)
    2) go to the control panel and uninstall any bitdefender app that's in there
    and all should be good.

    Hey Joe, this isn’t a problem but it’s a feature I wish I had (I am running windows 10 Pro). When I boot the computer up, there are certain things that slow it down because they are “in the startup” folder. Point is I WANT them to be in the startup folder. (I have already taken out the things that I don’t want to be in there. So that’s not the issue.)The issue is I would like to have (e.g.) a little box appear (like “READY”) on the screen when the computer is really ENTIRELY booted up. The reason is that if you go to use the computer before it’s totally up (When it appears to be!!) things aren’t always ready to work as well yet.
