@@RobertSoer I would say avoid those softwares.. they do nothing but delete registry files which is unnecessary, hogs system resources and only beg you to upgrade to their pro/ultimate varients... If you are really running out of space, use disk cleanup .. for fast startup, get a ssd and remove some startup programs ⚡ I hope this helps..

Thank you, I'm a DJ, I switched to digital djing in 2009. First & foremost I'm a 57 yr old man in Detroit Mi. who grew up achieving academic rewards (basically labeled smart lol). I purchased my first computer in the early 90's (94) & it was windows 3.1.1 (which should have been labeled DOS/user-friendly lol). Due to being the only one in the family with a computer at the time, it created another issue. After several family & friends would use it while I was at work I would come home to a computer problem. It forced me to learn DOS so I could repair my pc. Anyhow fast forward to 2009, not having allot to spend on a top of the line laptop I dealt with the slow, 4 gig cheap unit. This produced a need to learn (since I really hadn't used a computer in yrs) how to maximize a cheap laptop since at the time & still to this day I'm a resident DJ every fri & sat since 2009 & I needed to be able to expect a certain level of performance. Just know you have been a reliable resource of mine when I need to research a problem. Thank you again & keep up the excellent work.

What I used to do when ram was at a premium on a pc was to set the pagefile size minimum equal to its maximum. Basically carve out a static block of space on the hdd. I usually set the max low under os control, defrag the hdd, then go back and up the min/max equal. Saved a little processing of os trying to allocate space and size.

    TL;DR
    1. Turn off animations
    2. Reduce the dual boot time
    3. Use high performance power plan
    4. Disable or limit Windows search indexing
    5. Use ReadyBoost
    6. Increase the page file size in Windows
    7. Use system file checker (sfc /scannow command in cmd)
    8. Use Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM command in cmd)
    9. Use Windows automated maintenance
    10. Reset the PC

You could really narrow this down to just two tips.
    1. Install Linux. Use Mate, Xfce, or even a basic window manager and you can get some serious improvements without even changing your hardware. This is especially true while using a hard drive as the system drive; by moving the / partition to a small partition at the very beginning of the drive, followed by a adequately sized swap partition and a dedicated /home partition, Linux will leave Windows on that same machine in the dust.
    2. Upgrade to an SSD. This can even make Windows feel fast, to the point of making Windows seem just as fast as Linux on the same machine. But make no mistake, while it is an improvement, it is still horribly inefficient in comparison to even installing Linux with, say, a heavy desktop environment on that same SSD.

Hi Thio, Great tip with ReadyBoost. It helps my 7 year old laptop immensely . I thought I would pass this tip along to you. You can repurpose smaller SATA SSD's by using them to do pagefile work. I am using a SATA to USB cable and enclosure and my laptop recognizes the 500g ssd attached and allows me to move my pagefile to that drive. It does speed things up a bit and also reduces competition for r/w time on the root drive.

I am thinking about doing something similar but bro, do you keep your laptop plugged in all time? My device is a laptop, but I think if I keep it Plugged in all the time, wont the battery be like damaged and maybe the charge will be finished pretty quick when it's not plugged in?

    • @ranaprash
      @ranaprash 3 роки тому

      @@LIAurora2267
Yeah, you are correct. If you keep your laptop plugged in all the time, soon or later your laptop's battery would be less efficient and someday it would completely stop working lol
And yes, I used to keep my laptop plugged in all the time because my laptop's battery was already dead and the ultimate performance plan was pretty effective in terms of the balanced performance one.
You can still keep using your laptop plugged in and having your battery removed from it though, at least that would save your battery from being damaged.

I watched a video last night that said you should always run DISM before PFC. That DISM updated the system files available to PFC to use. It suggested that PFC "unable to repair" errors were typically because the corrupt file was a newer version than the "backup" version PFC had available to it.

You can fix that Shutdown button by going to Power Options and disabling the Fast Startup option. It makes the Shutdown button to act not unlike Hibernate so it's better to just disable it and make Shutdown to just shutdown the computer for real and hibernate only when we need to by clicking on Hibernate instead (sometimes this is disabled by default but can be reconfigured by using the POWERCFG command in CMD)
If Hibernate is something you'd rely on a lot everyday, it's better to make sure that Windows is actually caching 100% of the RAM into the HDD/SSD to minimize any problematic occurrences; this can also be reconfigured by using POWERCFG command

I think a combination of windows 10 and my AVG antivirus slows my computer down to an almost unusable level. Plus when I defrag one of my drives says it's 100% fragmented👀
