Ive owned a couple Mackie products over the years. But this is a blatant copy of a rode.. mackie used to be the leader of innovation for the smaller recording space.
@@djrenaarms I own two businesses, its not just about copy and paste. It’s about innovation and evolving. This seems like they just stole the look from rode and made a subpar product. They took the approach of Acer computer, or third party android phones. Instead of making things better, they took the look and and made it bigger.
Having worked with the Lawo VRX8 virtual console and both rodecasters, I can humbly say that the Mackie is a killer going with the features it has. It's professional and makes the bad boys (professional Broadcast consoles) in the industry feel useless.
It's looking solid, but as of now no midi control (out) at all. The Rode's second USB is great too, although DLZ's NDI support shows promise. Especially if they'll support multi-channel audio in the future. This and midi is a must IMO.
@@MisterTuur also on-air light, plus the possibility to have more usb audio connection with just the one physical connection, to allow more decks/players from the automation software
Got one and am blown away with it. Don't need Windows software to run it, like the GOXLR does. I run it through balance leads going to my Focusrite Scarlet 2i2, then USB from Focusrite to my Linux PC, as the USB cable from the DLZ, is needing Windows drivers. I'm currently waiting for the postman to deliver my Electro-Voice RE320 to hook up to it. Been using a Audio Technica Dynamic mic and it is too middy sounding, letting in a lot of sibilence. Overall the DLZ is fantastic for making content on, without having to rely on drivers. By all means update the firmware before using it.
I am also a devoted Linux hardcore user, and am interested by the Mackie DLZ. Currently I have a RODECaster Pro II. Do you have some other social media so we can keep in touch and talk Linux compatibility?

MIDI, and specifically fader- and buttonstart is a must for radio. Once they have it I'm sold.
@@clemradio Missed one more: Automatically Mute Outputs.
@@MisterTuur yesss!!! How could I forget this one option.
